Tulsa man that rammed into police vehicle has a lot to be thankful for

TULSA, Okla. – On the 19th of November, at approximately 10:00 p.m., David Nelson made some poor choices.

Around 4100 S 129th E. Ave., a Tulsa patrol officer spotted Nelson in what was described as a sedan and attempted what should have been a simple traffic stop.

The suspect, unfortunately, decided to take off instead of doing what any law-abiding citizen might do.

When the chase commenced, Nelson allegedly entered a neighborhood with only one way out. The suspect began to leave the cul-de-sac and proceeded to hit the police vehicle.

Upon literally ramming into a TPD vehicle, Nelson continued with those not-so-good choices and continued driving.

Thankfully, the patrol officer did not get wounded and was able to continue the pursuit.

Finally, around 45th and 129th E. Ave., Tulsa police say that the suspect stopped. Was he low on gas? Did his guilt get the best of him? At this time, we do not know. But we know that while Nelson sits in a jail cell, he has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season because no one got hurt.

A sobriety test was conducted and found that “Nelson had a BAC of .17.” (Tulsa Police Department)

The reasons for his arrest include: assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, eluding, DUI, reckless driving, and speeding.
