Three people were taken into custody by Canadian County
deputies after drugs, a stolen gun, and a large amount of cash
were discovered in their classic car during a traffic stop early
on December 9.
Joseph Daniel Miller, 22, of Church Hill, Tenn., Steven
Pendleton, 42, of Cave Junction. Ore., and Kristina Maddox,
19, were arrested on several felony drug complaints each and
booked into the Canadian County Jail.
According to reports, a Canadian County deputy was on duty
traveling eastbound on I-40 near mile marker 134 when he noticed a 1966 Chevrolet Impala drift out and back into its lane.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and when he walked up to
the vehicle he immediately smelled the odor of marijuana. The
deputy told the trio to exit the vehicle. He then called for additional deputies to search the vehicle.
Deputies discovered a large baggie containing high-grade
marijuana and another containing two ounces of marijuana
“shatter”, a substance that contains a large concentrated level
of THC.
It was estimated that street value of the drugs at approximately $15,000, according to reports.
Deputies also discovered a stolen .22 Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol and $18,697.
Miller told deputies he had flown to Oregon to sight see and
purchased the classic car while he was there, and that Pendleton and Maddox were hitchhikers he had picked up on the trip.
Deputies were eventually able to figure out that Pendleton as
Miller's uncle and Maddox was Pendleton's girlfriend and that
Miller had flown to Oregon to relocate Pendleton to Tennessee.
Miller was booked on a complaint of endeavoring to commit
a controlled dangerous substance offense. Pendleton and Maddox were both booked on complaints of endeavoring to commit
a controlled dangerous substance offense, possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony, possession with intent
to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and possession
of drug proceeds.

Late on December 16, police in western Oklahoma began receiving
multiple 911 calls reporting the driver of a vehicle committing acts of
road rage. Callers also reported the driver was shooting at cars.
A man driving with his wife along Interstate 40 westbound was hit
by that gunfire. That occurred at approximately mile marker 93 near
Hydro.
Jeffrey Kent Powell, 45, of Arapaho, died at the scene.
A short time later, Weatherford police on normal patrol found a vehicle on Airport Road (mile marker 84) just off I-40. Inside the vehicle
was woman who had been shot.
Billie Jean West, 63, of Lone Wolf, was pronounced dead at a Weatherford hospital.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers caught up with the pickup truck described by multiple
911 callers. A short pursuit ensued with the suspect traveling into Washita County and back
into Custer County. At mile marker 50, the suspect pulled to the shoulder and surrendered.
Jeremy Doss Hardy, 35, of Pasadena, Texas, was arrested on a complaint of DUI.
Many local, county, and state officers are involved in this case. OSBI investigative and
crime scene agents are helping to collect evidence and information at the multiple shooting
scenes.
Hardy still has not been charged in connection with the two deaths.

Clinton man John Arthur Jackson, 66,
sounded the alarm on December 21 after he
called 911 shortly after 7 p.m. and told dispatch that he just killed his brother.
Police officers raced to the scene -- a motel
in the 1000 block of Gary Boulevard. They
found Jackson standing on the balcony,
holding a knife, according to the affidavit.
Officers told him to drop it, and they placed
him under arrest.
Jackson appeared to be extremely intoxicated.
When police went to Jackson’s motel room, they found a man lying
on the bed, covered in blood. He had stab wounds on his face, neck,
abdomen, legs and arms.
Police later spoke to the injured man at the hospital. He said his
brother attacked him with a knife, stabbing him several times over
a comment he made. The victim said every time he tried to leave or
call for help, Jackson would push him back onto the bed and stab
him more.
The man had to be transported to a hospital Oklahoma City for his
injuries.
On December 22 shortly after 8 a.m., the officer spoke to Jackson at
the police department. Jackson admitted that he called 911. He said
he thought he had killed his brother. He then told the officer that his
brother actually stabbed himself.
Jackson said he took the knife away from his brother, and “the
next thing [he] knew, there was blood everywhere.” He then said he
couldn’t remember what else took place, and he didn’t want to speak
to the officer anymore.
Jackson is being charged with assault and battery with a deadly
weapon. His bond was set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on February 19, 2016.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Tifani P: I think 263 years is a little crazy.. Yes
he did very wrong. But you rape 36 women and got that many years. A military
man from where I’m from abused a baby until he later died and he got 15 years
for child abuse. Like what??? Are you serious. He is a very sick man and deserves
time. But that’s almost 3 life sentences... Priorities need to be set. A child can’t
protect themselves, and neither can a woman.
Leslie B: Unfortunately, he will be segregated from the general prison
population because he was a cop. If they had to worry about “prison justice” &
being afraid to close their eyes to sleep, perhaps a law enforcement officer might
think long & hard about abusing his or her authority…
Jim S: Law enforcement are suppose to keep a higher standard of living. If
a person is charged with a crime against a law enforcement official that crime penalty use generally more severe. The same standards should be equal for the trust
in the person enforcing the law is lost. So their penalty should also be be greater.
Lacie W: I think it’s odd that he was only charged on 18 out of 36 charges, I also think it’s wierd that he forced that many women to do oral on him.... I’m
pretty sure if I was forced to do that id be biting as hard as possible. I’m not saying
he didn’t do the things he is being accused of but I do have a feeling a lot of women
jumped on the bandwagon on this.
Cynthia A: Cops are the biggest criminals out there, glad he is getting
his!!! I am praying karma over a cop in gravette arkansas , that little 5 foot, black
haired bastard. When he gets his I wanna see it!! I had an old Indian pray for him
something special.
Amy W: There going to love him in prison. He might see a little oral and
sodomy himself. Aka Karma
Janice M: Don’t abuse your position. He committed crimes against
women. His punishment fits his crimes.
Eric R: As a retired police officer, I think he abused his power. He deserves
a little jailhouse justice.
Michael S: This cop is a shining example of why the public does NOT
trust the police. As a whole...The police would tell you that the actions of a few
should not cast a shadow on all the rest.. This IS a SYSTEMIC problem and will
NEVER go away as long as the police are allowed to police themselves. Personally I
feel that 263 yrs is over the top for a punishment for the corrupt activiety that this
cop ingaged in. It’s almost like a cartoon sentence. As a tax payer It just dosen’t
seem fair to pay for his incarceration for the rest of my life. I would feel better
about all this if he were only sentenced to say 5 yrs in prison... REAL hard time in
general population like a REAL criminal. The catch to the short sentence would
be that he gets to be raped against his will 263 times before his 5 yrs are up to get
out. Then be able to get out and work and live with a moniter on his ankle for the
rest of his life…
Daniel Ken Holtzclaw is a former Oklahoma City
Police Department police officer. He was convicted on
December 10, 2015 of multiple counts of rape, sexual
battery, and forcible oral sodomy. What do you think
about the verdict?
What do you think?
William H: Hes on sucide watch. Can enjoy his crime and the pain of
his victim’s but cant handle the time.. what a lil bitch
Jim W: The fact that he was acquitted on a few charges shows that the jury
looked at every bit of the evidence. Good verdict.
Shelley S: I agree. Police are there to protect and he broke that trust.
They should be held to higher standards when they break the law.
Roy D: Oh I’m sure those ladies weren’t perfect Angels yes he was wrong
for what he did but I’m pretty sure those ladies offered it and he took it . Again he
was wrong but he shouldn’t have gotten that tha harsh of a punishment.
Patty F: Shocked police seem to get away with everything including murder
Melissa A: This verdict signls to all cops that there ARE consequences
to their actions regardless of their badge.
Vaden M: He did the crime, he did the time and needs to rot in jail.
Regardless of what his job was or how decorated his uniform was. He was found
guilty and was proven guilty. There’s many great cops, and there’s bad ones, too.
He was one of the bad ones.
Christina A: I feel some people like to put their opinion out there BEFORE they know the facts!!!! True victims are very hesitant about publicly sharing their stories and it’s about JUSTICE and HEALING!!! Not $100,000 law suits
against the city!!! I guarantee no amount of money well make a true victim feel
better!!!!
Norma A: Was real proud of the court system, there are probably other
officers out there that are doing or have done the same thing. Believe me hes not
the only one. It makes you scared to trust the law inforcement. He needs put away
for good.
Dennis J: What would be a disgrace is if one of the women come forward
in 5 to 10 years and says he really didn’t do it, just look at them women why would
he want any of them women especially the last one just saying

A&B on a police officer
Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater,
with the help of several other attorneys, took down
an armed robbery suspect in the Oklahoma County
Courthouse after he tried to escape custody.
Israel Deshaun Pointer, 19, had been in court December 7 on an armed robbery charge when he was
told he was being arrested for failing to appear in
court on an earlier date, according to reports. He
then said he was not going back to jail and bolted out
of the courtroom. Several deputies tried to stop him
twice, but he struggled free on both occasions.
Video surveillance on the 7th floor of the courthouse shows Prater and several other attorneys walking down the hallway. Prater saw Pointer running toward him and unbuttoned his coat, ready to bounce
on the suspect. He then grabbed Pointer, struggled
with him, and the other attorneys aided in the takedown.
Pointer was then cuffed and carted off to jail.
This was the fourth time since Prater was elected DA that he’s taken down a fleeing
person in the courthouse. In an interview, he said working in the courthouse with “being
in the Wild West.”

Elk City man Michael Sean Redd, 22, was arrested on December 22 while he was helping a friend lookout for police
officers.
According to the affidavit, Elk City police officers were
dispatched to the 900 block of W. First Street shortly after
4 a.m. to investigate a domestic assault. The suspect was a
black male.
While perusing the area, an officer saw a man walking in
the 900 block of W. First. The man was wearing shorts even
though it was cold outside.
Another officer overheard the man’s phone conversation
and believed he was talking to the suspect -- he allegedly said
that “the police was gone and it was all clear.”
When an officer made contact with Redd, he acted like he
was nervous and tried to hide his cellphone. Redd kept putting his hands in his pockets, despite the officer telling him to stop. When the officer informed
the man he was being detained, Redd pushed him and started to resist. A scuffle ensued, and
the officer informed the man he was under arrest.
Other officers arrived for backup and the man was placed in handcuffs.
The officer asked Redd what he was doing on First Street. Redd said he was on Second
Street. The officer then asked the man if he knew the suspect. Redd said no.
The officer told him the police overheard his conversation to the suspect when he told the
man the police were gone and it was all clear. Redd still continued to deny it.
On the way to jail, the officer told Redd he knew he was lying about knowing the suspect.
Redd replied that he wasn’t hanging around “black people.” When the officer said that he
never mentioned the suspect was black, Redd said the man’s name sounded like a black
person.
The officer then asked Redd why he resisted. Redd said he didn’t know the officer was the
police and he was scared -- despite the officer wearing a uniform and the red and blue lights
on his patrol vehicle.
Redd is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police officer and resisting an
officer. His bond was set at $6,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 1, 2016.

A Woodward woman with poor driving skills was locked up on
December 22 after she lied to an officer about her name.
She also had a good amount of meth and some paraphernalia in
her vehicle.
According to the police report, a Geary police officer stopped the
woman in 600 block of N. Broadway after he saw her cross the center line. When he checked her license plate, dispatched advised that
the tag was expired.
The officer made contact with the woman and asked for her driver’s
license. The woman handed over a license with a name that wasn’t
hers. It didn’t work anyway -- the license came back as suspended.
The officer placed the woman, later identified as 41-year-old
Heather Lynn Halford, under arrest for her suspended license and failure to maintain lane.
When he conducted an inventory of the woman’s car, he added some crimes to her charges.
He found two glass pipes and 200 baggies in the passenger seat.
A black purse in the floorboard contained digital scales, hypodermic needles, cash, 112
grams of a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and a check with a
large sum addressed to Heather Lynn Halford.
Halford is being charged with unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute, falsely personate another to create liability, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with license suspended and operating vehicle with expired tag. Her bond was set
at $100,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on January 20, 2016.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

A speedy Cordell woman was arrested during a
December 13 traffic stop because her license was expired, and she had drugs and paraphernalia in her
pants.
Yes, 32-year-old Jennifer Ann Atteberry had a
very illegal party in her pants.
According to the police report, a Washita County
deputy stopped the woman at Highway 44 just north
of CR 1160 because she was going 46 mph in a 35
mph zone. She told the deputy she didn’t have her
license with her, but she gave him her information.
He soon found out why she didn’t want to hand
over her ID. Dispatch advised the officer that the
woman’s driver’s license was expired.
The officer returned to the car and asked the woman to step out of her vehicle. She obeyed, but she
asked him why. He told her she was under arrest.
While they were talking, the deputy noticed Atteberry kept reaching her right hand in front of her.
He placed her in handcuffs and asked if she had anything on her that she didn’t want
to go to jail with.
She replied, “Just me.”
The deputy then asked if she had anything in her pockets. She told him she had a knife
in her front pocket.
When the deputy retrieved the knife, he noticed a large bulge in the front of the woman’s pants. She told him it was something she did not want to go to jail with. The “bulge”
was actually a black box containing a pipes, three different kinds of pills, straws, Q-tips, a
clear bag that tested positive for meth, and a blue bag that tested positive for marijuana.
The deputy asked Atteberry for permission to search her vehicle -- she said no. The
woman was then transported to the Washita County Jail.
Atteberry is being charged with unlawful possession of controlled dangerous substance
without prescription, possession of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession
of drug paraphernalia, speeding in excess of lawful maximum limit and failure to maintain security. Her bond was set at $25,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
February 23, 2016.
