DEADLY BUTTERFLY
A Tahlequah man will spend the rest of his life in prison after he fatally stabbed another man multiple times
with a butterfly knife last year.
Isaac Newman Sockey, 39, of was sentenced to life
in prison for first degree murder stemming from a fatal knife attack on September 8, 2023, at a Tahlequah
residence.
Sockey was found guilty of one count of First Degree
Murder in Indian Country on December 12, 2023, following a jury trial in the United States District Court for
the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Sentencing was held
July 10, 2024.
According to evidence and testimony presented at trial, on the day of the murder,
Sockey retrieved a butterfly knife from his bedroom, placed the knife to the victim’s throat,
and threatened the victim in response to a verbal insult. The victim pushed the knife away
and attempted to disarm Sockey. Sockey then stabbed the victim more than twenty
times, including in the neck, head, and torso. Despite life-saving measures, the victim
died from injuries sustained in the attack.
The crime occurred in Cherokee County, within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation
Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charge arose from investigations by the Tahlequah Police Department and the
Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“Senseless tragedies such as this reverberate through our communities, and those
who perpetrate these acts must be brought to justice,” said Acting Special Agent in
Charge Jason Kaplan of the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office. “The FBI and our law enforcement partners remain committed to preventing violent crime in Indian country by
removing offenders like Mr. Sockey from our streets.”
Sockey will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of
incarceration.

AROUND THE STATE
On July 21, the Tulsa Police Department posted
about a suspect who exposed himself and threatened a violent sex act. Thanks to all of the tips, we
were able to identify him and Officers with the IMPACT Unit located and arrested him.
The suspect, Joshua Milligan, was arrested at Admiral and Harvard at 12:30 p.m. on June 28. He was
brought down to Detective Division where he was
questioned about the incident.
Here are a couple of highlights from the interview:
• He admitted to being the person at the store and being told to leave
• Even though it was recorded on audio, when asked why he threatened to “Rape”
the store owner’s daughter, he claimed he said he was going to “Rake” her. He said
that’s a “Mafia” meaning to kill a person.
• When he was asked why he said he was going to “F--- Her”, he said he meant
to say “F--- Her Over”. (FYI “F---” is an expletive we’re redacting, in case you weren’t
picking up on that)
• As far as exposing himself, he said his pants were sagging.
Milligan was charged July 5 with indecent exposure and threaten an act of violence, in Tulsa County District Court. Bond was set at $10,000.
Information from the original post:
On July 18, around 5:00 p.m., the white male
wearing the OSU jersey caused a disturbance in
front of a business near 51st and Yale.
When the owner asked him to leave, the suspect aggressively got up in the owner’s face. The
owner pushed him back and pulled a gun out in
defense, The suspect briefly retreated.
The suspect continued to exchange words
with the owner, cursed at him, and threatened to
rape his daughter (who was present).
The suspect eventually walked away but not
before threatening to rape his daughter again
and pulled down his pants to expose himself.

I'LL BE WATCHING YOU
On April 24, 2024, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office
Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Investigator J. Carey was provided a cybertip about an individual in Wagoner County that was possibly possessing and distributing child pornography.
Investigator Carey is also a Task Force Officer for
the Office of Homeland Security (HSI) and the Internet
Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (Also known as NCMEC) provided a cyber tip to
Investigator Carey that alleged a subject in Wagoner
County was using Discord to commit illegal acts. Discord had submitted a tip to NCMEC
advising them that the person associated with an account had shared illegal photos of
children.
With this information, Investigator Carey conducted an investigation in an attempt to
identify a suspect. Upon submitting multiple subpoenas, Inv. Carey was able to identify
the suspect distributing child pornography as Nathan A Gatewood of Wagoner.
On June 20, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Deputies, along with
Agents from the Office of Homeland Security executed an arrest warrant and search
warrant at the suspect’s home in the City of Wagoner. Nathan A Gatewood was taken
into custody without incident and transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center
where he was booked into the same.
Nathan A Gatewood was charged with Prepare or Distribute Obscene Material or Child
Pornography and Buy, Procure, Possess Child Pornography. He is currently being held
in the Wagoner County Detention Center with no bond.
The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office will continue to aggressively pursue subjects that
are involved in these types of crimes. We will continue to partner with the Office of Homeland Security and additional agencies to ensure that Wagoner County remains safe from
these criminals that are victimizing our hard-working residents, especially our children.

THE FACE OF DEATH
On June 18, 2024, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation to assist with a double homicide
in Gans.
Around 6:30 p.m. that evening, Sequoyah
County deputies responded to a business near
State Highway 64 and South 4670 Road regarding two deceased individuals. When deputies
made entry into the business, they found the victims, Tara Barnett Underwood and Taylor Sharp,
inside. Both sustained injuries consistent with homicide.
As OSBI special agents began investigating the scene, they identified 50-yearold Stacy Lee Drake as a person of interest.
The vehicle Drake stole was located in Morrilton, Arkansas, on June 19.
According to a press release from the Arkansas State Police, Morrilton Police
Department, Arkansas State Police and the Conway County Sheriff’s Office took
Drake into custody at about 10 a.m. on June 20 in a wooded area south of
the Morrilton intersection of University Boulevard and Poor Farm Road. He was
taken into custody without incident and extradited back to Sequoyah County
shortly thereafter.
Drake’s killing spree allegedly began back in May when the Tuscaloosa (Ala.)
Police Department responded to an Alcoholics Anonymous building on Jack
Warner Parkway and found the body of 62-year-old Russell Thomas Andrews.
The perpetrator was known only as “J.P.,” the reportedly homeless man is described as a 50-year-old white man who weighs around 180 pounds and stands
at a height of 5 feet, 11 inches. He was later identified as Drake.
In June, Police believe that Drake killed a man in El Reno.
Phillip Emerson, 56, was found dead in a home along Macomb Ave. Police
discovered that Emerson’s vehicle was missing. His
vehicle was found in Sallisaw.
Underwood and Sharp were transported to the
Office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner for
identification and to determine a cause and manner of
death. This is still an ongoing investigation at this time.
According to reports, he pleaded guilty at his preliminary hearing on June 24 and is scheduled to next
appear in court on August 7.

OFF THE STREETS
A Westville couple was sentenced for sexual offenses they committed against minors in Indian
country.
Robert Lee Catron, 36, was sentenced on June
11, 2024, to 30 years in prison for one count of
Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Indian
Country. According to investigators, between
2020 and 2022, Catron sexually assaulted a child
he knew to be under the age of 12.
Jenny Marie Locust, age 39, was sentenced on June 4, 2024, to 10 years in
prison for one count of Enticement and Coercion of a Minor. According to investigators, between 2021 and 2022, Locust used her cell phone to entice and
coerce a child under the age of 18 to engage in sexual activity with her boyfriend,
Robert Lee Catron.
The crimes occurred in Adair County, within the boundaries of the Cherokee
Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Both Catron and Locust will be required to register and comply with the Sex
Offender Registration and Notification Act upon release.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
and the Westville Police Department.
“I’m extremely grateful for the collaborative effort that brought these defendants to justice for their detestable crimes,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge
Jason Kaplan of the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office. “The significant sentences
handed down in this case should send a clear message to child predators that
law enforcement will aggressively pursue them, even when the abuse is disclosed years after it occurs.”
“Together, Catron and Locust committed horrifying crimes, transgressing
every rule of decency our society has set up to protect children,” said United
States Attorney Christopher J. Wilson. “There can be no tolerance for those
who would visit such evil upon children, and this office will not relent in its pursuit
of such perpetrators.”
Catron and Locust will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve their
non-paroleable sentences of incarceration.

OSBI INVESTIGATES OFFICER
INVOLVED SHOOTING
IN MUSKOGEE
On July 12, 2024, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s
Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist with an officer-involved shooting.
Just after 12:00 a.m., Muskogee County deputies
responded to a business near South 32nd Street
and West Smith Ferry Road in Muskogee regarding
a possible armed robbery. When deputies arrived on
scene, they made entry into the business and located
24-year-old Matthew Dylan Lucht. Deputies say Lucht was carrying a firearm and as
they tried to make contact, a shooting occurred. Deputies performed life-saving measures, but Lucht passed away at the scene. One deputy suffered minor injuries and
fortunately none of the patrons inside the business were injured.
This is still an ongoing investigation at this time. The OSBI would like to thank the
Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with this case.

AROUND THE NATION
Ice, ice, baby
A Dumfries, Va., man’s morning of mischief was literally put on ice after a crash at a Stafford County (Virginia) convenience store.
On July 14th at 2:57 a.m. Deputies S.A. Edwards,
D.S. Jett and C.M. Sterne responded to a single vehicle crash at the Valero at 620 Cambridge Street. They
arrived to find an Acura MDX had driven over the curb
and caused significant damage to the ice machine at
the side of the
business. The driver continued to reverse and pull
forward until deputies activated the lights and sirens on the patrol cars.
The driver was identified as Eric McDonald, 36,
and he refused to exit the vehicle. McDonald was
extracted from the vehicle and deputies noticed he
had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage as well as
glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
McDonald was charged with DUI second offense in 10 years, three counts of obstruction,
felony destruction of property, refusal, no insurance and no registration. He was also found to be
wanted for a contempt of court charge from Stafford General District Court. McDonald was placed
in the Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his
ability to participate in a bond hearing.
