CAREER SABBATICAL
A career criminal in Cherokee County will be
spending the next three and a half years in a federal prison for being in possession of an item that
he should have not had.
Charley Lee Buckhorn, 50, of Tahlequah, was
sentenced to 46 months in prison for illegally possessing firearms.
The charges arose from an investigation by the
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, the District 27 Drug and Violent Crime
Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
On June 10, 2024, Buckhorn pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to investigators, on November 15, 2023, law enforcement serving
outstanding arrest warrants discovered Buckhorn in possession of a loaded AR15 rifle, a loaded 9mm pistol, and assorted rounds of ammunition. Buckhorn
possessed the firearms and ammunition despite knowing that he had been previously convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding
one year.
Past charges include aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs, multiple trafficking
in illegal drugs charges, maintaining place for keeping/selling controlled substance, possession of firearm after felony conviction, possession of controlled
dangerous substance/paraphernalia, and other miscellaneous crimes in Cherokee County over the last two and a half decades.
Buckhorn will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending
transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a
non-paroleable sentence of incarceration. JAKEB

TRAIN VS. MUSTANG -- Driver arrested for DUI
On December 14, just before 2:00 a.m., Officers responded to a call of a Ford Mustang Convertible on the
tracks in the area near 100 S. Guthrie Avenue.
The driver of the Mustang, 22-year-old Cody Tungate, later admitted to Officers that he left a car meet
event commonly known as a “Street Takeover”.
Several citizens observed Tungate attempting to
drive the convertible from the tracks, and said they had
to drag him from the vehicle as a train was rapidly approaching. At the same
time, another individual attempted to drive the vehicle from the tracks but was
unsuccessful.
The oncoming train was unable to stop in time and collided with the car, likely
totaling the vehicle. No one was injured.
Cody Tungate displayed multiple signs of intoxication and was arrested for DUI
and Transporting an Open Container.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV/Gray News) - Texas authorities arrested
at least two men involved in a $400,000 scheme to steal Lego
sets from Walmart and Target stores across four states and resell
them online.
Brian Keith Fleming, 33, and Ladarion Dontre Anderson, 33,
were arrested. According to an affidavit, the scheme involves 10
people and has operated for at least two years.
On Oct. 14, 2022, a trooper noticed 19 unopened Cricut machines during a traffic stop, and according to the affidavit, the
driver could not explain why they were in the car or where the
machines came from.
The driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant and the
trooper reached out to Walmart and Target to determine if the
machines were stolen.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for two cell phones that
were in the car and the text history on those devices helped them
launch an investigation that crossed state borders.
The phones revealed conversations about stealing Cricut machines to sell to a third person at a cut rate, according to the affidavit. The texts also mentioned doing the same with Lego sets.
The United States postal inspector ran an investigation on the
buyer, who was reportedly paying cash for the items and then
reselling them on Amazon, eBay and other online platforms, according to the affidavit.
On March 14, a special agent in Texas was assigned to the case and learned from an Amazon
investigator that the seller had handed over a number of invoices for Lego sets that named Fleming
directly.
The investigation revealed that Fleming and Anderson were working together with a circle of five
“shoppers” to steal the sets from stores across Texas, the affidavit says.
Fleming and Anderson were caught on Walmart surveillance video walking down the Lego aisle
before buying a handful of other items, all in the $1 to $2 range.
The document says one of the five shoppers would then go into the store and put a matching
number of Lego sets into a cart before walking past the registers and out the door.
If stopped, they would show the receipt for the items Fleming or Anderson had bought, with
the names and prices changed. Investigators identified this pattern after detaining several of the
shoppers.
The affidavit says Walmart and Target investigators estimated the combined total value of the
items stolen to be over $400,000.
Invoices from the reseller show more than 500 Lego sets were resold at or below half of the market price over just four months in 2024.
Fleming and Anderson have both been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and
theft over $300,000.
The arrest documents show over 273 individual thefts, mainly from stores across Texas, but also
in Oklahoma, Florida and Pennsylvania.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Two Wagoner County deputies were on the receiving end of a DUI crash that resulted in a woman going to jail, and thankfully, no injuries.
According to a Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office
press release, on November 20, two deputies were
attending to a vehicle that was stuck in the ditch
near East 84th Street and North 257th East Avenue. As they were speaking to the driver of the
stuck vehicle, a driver failed to move over for the
patrol units and slammed into the back of one of
the deputy’s patrol unit. As a result, the patrol unit slid into another patrol unit that
was parked in front of the first one.
Deputies provided immediate assistance to the driver of the vehicle that has
struck the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit. It was quickly determined
that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol
responded to the scene to complete the accident investigation. Upon arriving
and completing the accident investigation, the State Trooper took the driver into
custody.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Valarie A Boswell-Douglas of Broken Arrow. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the
Wagoner County Detention Center where she was booked into the same. Boswell-Douglas was charged with the following:
Failure to move over or slow down for Emergency Vehicle, driving under the influence (DUI),
and Inattention to driving resulting in a crash.
Due to tribal status, a tribal hold was placed on
the driver to be transferred to their facility. CLEO

DASTARDLY DEEDS
A Muskogee businessman is facing a felony charge after he tried pulling off a scheme to
misappropriate almost $70,000 from a portable
building company.
Jay Ferrell Bowlin, 41, of Wagoner, was charged
November 21 with one count of felony embezzlement, in Muskogee County District Court.
According to court documents, on or between
the 1st day of August, 2024 and the 30th day of September, 2024, Bowlin, the
owner of Amazing Structures of Muskogee, is accused of fraudulently appropriating $64,911.28 that belonged to Premier Buildings and Trailers by selling
property that was being entrusted to him for a specific purpose, but belonged to
Premier Buildings and Trailers. Bowlin allegedly kept the money from the transactions instead of giving the proceeds to Premier Buildings and Trailers.
Reports state that many more victims of Bowlin’s schemes have come forward
to officials claiming Bowlin had ripped off copious amounts of money from them
around the state and in other states, including Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee.
Bond for Bowlin in the Premier Buildings and Trailers case was set at $20,000
and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 9 on a sounding docket.

COLD CASE
REMAINS COLD
The OSBI Cold Case Unit is seeking information regarding the murder of 47-year-old Doyle
Watson.
In July of 1982, Watson was found deceased
in Cotton County, Oklahoma. The specific location was a quarter mile east of Highway 277 and
one mile north of the Texas border.
Investigators determined Watson sustained
injuries consistent with homicide. Our special agents are still working to identify those responsible. Anyone who knew Watson or has additional information about this case is asked to contact the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017 or tips@
osbi.ok.gov.
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Sallisaw man Jeremy Henson, 35, is being
charged with lewd molestation after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 5.
According to reports, a Muldrow police officer spoke with someone who wanted to press
charges against Henson for the alleged sexual
assault of the young victim. The next day, a forensics interview took place with the child. The
victim said Henson inappropriately touched
them.
The officer and a Department of Human Services worker spoke to Henson
and asked him about the sexual assault he was being accused of. Henson
said he didn’t want to answer questions without an attorney. He was placed
under arrest and transported to jail.
Henson is being charged with lewd molestation. His bond was set at
$100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 28, 2025. WILLIAM

A Massachusetts man got himself stuck inside a chimney while
trying to evade cops on December 10 in a failed attempt to channel
Ol’ Saint Nick.
Officers with the Fall River Police Department (MA) attempted to
conduct a raid of the man’s Canal Street home in the small New England town — only to be led on a Christmas goose chase.
As the cops knocked on the front door, they saw two men fleeing
the home via the roof, according to 10WJAR.
“[One man] invoked the essence of the seasonal icon and attempted to hide inside of a chimney,”
police said in a statement. “[He] quickly became stuck in the chimney and required the assistance of
the very detectives he was previously fleeing.”
Bodycam footage shared by the police department shows the moment the responding police
officers scaled the roof and confronted Langlias who was deep in the flue.
“You’re an idiot,” said an officer wielding a flashlight as the camera panned down to Langlias, 33,
wedged inside the base of the chimney.
The officers confirmed that the suspect was in fact stuck, but able to breathe while they called for
the fire department to come and rescue the wannabe Santa Claus.
“Get me out of here, bro!” Langlias pleaded with the same cops he had tried to hide from, according to the footage.
Firefighters can be seen in the video taking apart the chimney brick-by-brick from inside the home
as Langlias helplessly waited to be taken into custody.
“Due to his Santa-antics, Langlias was transported to a local hospital out of precaution and was
medically cleared,” police
said.
The other wanted party
jumped off the roof, onto a
car, and lammed it before
cops could make an arrest and remains at large.
