When 23-year-old Merci Rene
Keene’s husband tried to leave with
their daughter while she was at
work, she got him where it hurtsliterally. The Chickasha woman
tried to bite her man’s penis off.
Thanks to the man’s lucky stars,
she was unsuccessful and arrested
for domestic abuse.
According to the affidavit, a
Chickasha officer was dispatched to
the 900 block of South 15th Street at
12:33 p.m. on September 4 to check
out reports of a disturbance. When
he arrived, he heard a man and
woman yelling at each other.
The man stepped outside the
house and told the officer he and his wife, Keene, were fighting.
Keene told the officer they were fighting because her husband attempted to leave with their daughter. She said she was at work when
her mom called her and said her husband was trying to leave with
their 11-month-old daughter.
Keene left work to confront her husband.
There was no verbal argument here – Keene said she tackled her
husband while she was holding their daughter and took him to the
ground. Once he was down, Keene said she bit the victim on the arm,
hit him, and tried to bite his penis off.
The victim had a bite mark on his left thigh, about two inches away
from his private parts.
Keene was arrested and transported to jail.
Keene is being charged with domestic abuse in the presence of a
minor. She was released on a $4,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 16, 2015.

A Hobart woman threw some items
on the ground in front of an officer,
then told the officer she didn’t throw
anything.
Unfortunately for 43-year-old Connie Haumpy, the officer found the
items she discarded, and guess what
– they were things she shouldn’t have
been carrying around.
According to the police report, a
Hobart officer was dispatched to the
600 block of South Monroe at approximately 11:41 p.m. because there
was a woman walking northbound,
screaming. The woman was Haumpy.
When the officer approached her, she reached in her pocket and
pulled out multiple items. She then looked at him and threw the
items on the ground.
The officer asked her what she threw in the grass. She told him she
didn’t throw anything.
Even when the officer told her he saw her throw the items, she still
insisted, “I did not throw anything.”
While he was speaking with the woman, the officer could smell the
odor of alcohol. A glossy-eyed Haumpy slurred that she had indeed
drank a few beers.
The officer retrieved the items Haumpy had thrown down. They
included a pack of rolling papers, two syringes, a spoon with white
residue, a lighter, a baggy containing a green leafy substance, and a
baggy containing a clear crystal-like substance.
The substances later tested positive for marijuana and methamphetamine. He then placed the woman under arrest and took her to
jail.
Haumpy is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her
bond was set at $15,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
October 14, 2015.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Okjailbirds: THIS COMMENT WAS POSTED BY AN OFFICER WHO WISHES TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS: In reference to the DHS post - I’m in law enforcement
and you can get a LOT of feedback from cops about DHS. Most of us see how badly they
handle cases and how many innocent families they destroy and how many abusive parents
they let keep kids.
The problem is, many of us don’t want to speak up in a public forum like Facebook because it doesn’t look good for a government employee (the cop) to bad mouth another. It
creates a very unprofessional image.
Please keep me anonymous, but you might pass along to their director that there is a
large disdain for DHS among law enforcement. That should be taken very seriously because we are the ones who see first hand the nature of the cases they handle. Most of these
cases are referred to them by U.S. or to us by them.
I’ve only dealt with one DHS worker that I thought truly cared and was competent
enough to do what was in the best interest of the kids and family.
Amber S: It’s nice to finally hear an officer speak about what really happens.
Tiffany M: Thank you for your service officer, and thank you for speaking up!!!
I only wish more officers will come forth!!!!
Marilyn R: Thank you for your service officer! Oklahoma DHS is a joke and an
embarrassment to our state.
Larrad R: Ill belive it when I see it. The is the most famous line besides we are
taking your children, from DHS
Beth N: In as many as we have dealt with including four to six Directors in the
almost two years of dealing we know of just one that I commend doing her job above and
beyond and I am proud to know her.
Brooke B: Thank You so much. In tears
Chasity T: Thank you
Michelle K: Good to see an officer speak up. Its sad that officer needs to remain
unanimous but I don’t blame him/ her because odd backlash. I’ve seen cases where children were taken and shouldn’t have been and I’ve seem cases where they should never be
with the p...See More
DHS in Oklahoma has been one of the largest complaints we receive at OK Jailbirds. We are asking our readers to tell us what their experiences with DHS have
been. Good or bad, lets hear it and we will hopefully be speaking with the director
soon to address some of these issues.
Tell us about your experiences with DHS
Jennifer L: I’ve been there, “in the system” and i only remember one that cared
and still stay in contact with and I’m almost 40. I was moved at least 5 or 6 times before i
got to go live my dad. It really sucks as a kid. And out of those foster family’s was only one
that actually cared the rat it was alp about the money.
Jamie J: I have to agree!!! Dealing with Stillwater DHS is a JOKE!!!!
Kendra W: I’m a former foster child they took me out the Hm never did anything about the case only to have to find out 5yrs later that if they did their job my sisters
wouldn’t of have to been put thru being raped & my sister pressured into a baby adoption
scheme. I was in the system & seen several workers a lot of them don’t care bc of burn
out(I’m not defending them)they have too many cases little pay not to mention it is a very
stressful job. There needs to be a check & balance here sum way to help prevent them with
burn out & also a way to hold them accountable
Abrielle R: Thank you, officers, for caring and for fighting for us.
Nicole J: My case was very sensitive.. I greatly respect the officer that did everything he could to help my children and me that horrible night. I will always remember him.
So, I know what your talking about when you say you see first hand and your first on call. its
truly sad that you guys aren’t allowed to do more. This officer spoke on my behalf in court
by supena on three different accounts, but dhs still managed to twist it. I think what you
are doing is something wonderful. You’re giving us all hope that something will be done.
Thank u and God bless you.
Catherine G: DHS has very good works.
Dana L: This police officer did not say anything about the list I wonder why unless
they don’t know about it yet but most do.
Joseph H: My experience is that when myself and other fathers file a complaint
against the mother, Dhs is quick to dismiss the case and close it way to soon. They didn’t do
near enough investigating. No surprise visits or anything. They showed up once and closed
the case.. OKLAHOMA DHS IS A JOKE.
Billy S: I was accused of child abuse because I spanked my son for stealing at
school. Two weeks after the spanking they came to my house and looked at my son’s bare
bottom. There were no bruises on his butt but there were some on his legs. They asked him
where they came from and he told them that they were from playing. The next day DHS
removed my kids and it took me two years to get them back. The only thing they were after
was my money. I was ordered to go through numerous domestic violence classes as well as
parenting and anger management classes. There were 4 times that the judge ordered them
to return my children but DHS kept appealing the ruling and would not return them. I have
never hated anyone or anything until I had to deal with this agency.
Kathie B: Kelsey Briggs…Will soon be 10 years that she was murdered under the
watchful eye of DHS.
Amber D: Dhs was very quick to ensue child support payments from my husband when his son lived with his mom. When my husband and i obtained custody they
havent done anything to get child support from the mother and its almost been a year!
Jenny M: It’s very sad that so many of you cannot see all the positive things that
the OKDHS does for many Oklahomans each and every day. We are so much more than
just child welfare and food stamps. We don’t just yank kids out of homes for no reason and
did you know that a judge has to sign each and every pickup order issued for a child. It isn’t
the decision of one individual worker. Yes they are overworked but many are supporting
families of their own and guess what? Many are also foster parents which are desperately
needed in Oklahoma. Do you realize that we also provide services so that parents can work,
provide services to improve and protect the lives of those with mental and physical disabilities? We also pay for services to keep our elderly out if nursing homes where they
are also neglected and abused as well. YOU are the eyes and ears of your community! We
depend on the public to stand up and say something if you see a child or vulnerable adult
being neglected or abused. EVERYONE in Oklahoma is a mandated reporter, not just DHS
workers. Perhaps instead of ranting and raging about what DHS is doing wrong, you might
consider your own parenting practices and try to improve them. Or, offer a hand to someone who appears to be struggling. Oklahomans are some of the strongest, kindest people
in the nation. We take care of each other here. It has been my pleasure and my mission to
serve OKDHS for nearly 22 years. Yes, there have been rough times but we hang on and do
the best we can with what the legislature allows us. Next time you want to complain about
what we do wrong, stop and think about what we actually do right. Chances are, your family had been touched in some positive way at some point in time or you will need us in the
future. Don’t be so quick to judge unless you’ve walked in our shoes.

Fremin
When 19-year-old Walters man
Gannon Paul Cletis Fremin was
stopped by cops on September 25,
he tried to deny he’d been drinking.
Too bad his terrible driving and
open beer cans in his truck suggested otherwise!
According to the police report,
Cotton County deputies stopped
Fremin shortly after 9 p.m. on state
Highway 5 and Shooter Hill Road
because the man’s vehicle kept
drifting out of the lane. When officers approached the vehicle, they
were met by the stench of alcohol.
The young man also had red watery
eyes.
When an officer asked him if he’d been drinking, Fremin replied,
“No, nothing.”
In the backseat, police could see several cars of beer. An officer
asked Fremin whose booze it was. He replied, “I don’t know -- not
mine.”
The officer asked Fremin to step out of his vehicle and when he did,
the officer asked him what was in the ice chest in the bed of his truck.
Fremin looked at the ground.
An officer asked him if it was beer -- the man shook his head yes.
This time, Fremin admitted to drinking two beers.
In the man’s vehicle, police found several open beer cans -- one
was still cold and full of beer.
Fremin agreed to take standard field sobriety tests. The results
suggested he’d probably had more than two beers. After a PBT revealed the man’s BAC was .05.
Fremin is being charged with driving under the influence by a person under 21. He was released on a $2,816 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on February 17, 2016.

What was supposed to be a fun weekend at Frederick Lake ended with one man dead and his wife behind
bars.
McAlester woman Tammy Sue Nunn, 54, allegedly
ran over her husband with their vehicle and set him on
fire on September 19.
Apparently the two had been fighting, and Nunn had
had enough.
Tillman County deputies were dispatched to the
scene of the crime shortly after 4 a.m. A man called dispatch and said there
was a dead body at the lake. When police arrived, they met with the reporting party, who led them to the body, which was on fire.
An intoxicated Nunn was sitting in a nearby vehicle.
The RP and another man told police that the couple and one of the men
left Eufaula the day before around noon. They arrived in Manitou around 2
a.m. and picked up another man.
According to the witnesses, Nunn was “extremely verbally abusive” to her
husband the entire trip. The couple and two men continued on to Frederick
Lake to fish and party.
Nunn consumed beer and liquor on the trip.
After they arrived at the campsite, the two men started a fire and walked
to some nearby restrooms. They told police they were only gone for about 10
minutes, but apparently that was enough for Nunn to do the deed. When the
men returned, they saw Nunn carrying logs to a fire pit. Nunn’s husband was
in one of the fire pits, but he wasn’t moving.
Nunn threw some logs on top of her husband and when one of the men
tried to stop her, she said, “Let him burn.”
The men told Nunn she needed to call the police. She told them not to
worry, because no one would miss her husband. She also told them he had a
“deer in the headlights look.”
According to the affidavit, evidence at the scene was consistent with the
victim being run over by the couple’s vehicle. There were tire marks on his
body that led straight to the vehicle, and there was blood and flesh on the
muffler.
Nunn was arrested and transported to jail, where she is being held without
bond. She is being charged with murder in the first degree, and is scheduled
to appear in court on October 13, 2015.

When Hinton woman Laura Ann Mashaney, 30, was caught
stealing stuff out of the high school, she had an explanation for
everything.
Unfortunately for her, the explanations didn’t make sense,
and she was arrested for burglary.
Around 3:37 a.m. on September 25, a Hinton officer was on
patrol when he noticed a car in the parking lot of the school.
Since the officer didn’t remember seeing the car there earlier, he
stopped to see what was going on. When he pulled behind the
vehicle, he noticed the truck was open. He then saw Mashaney
sitting on some concrete in front of the open door.
Mashaney told the officer she was just having a bad night and
went there to smoke a cigarette.
The officer didn’t believe her – especially since there was a
TV on the ground next to her and a DVR system near a broken
window.
According to the affidavit, he asked her why her trunk was open. She first told him she was
going to move some stuff. Then she said she was going to put on a jacket but decided not to.
The officer told her he was going to check if the TV was stolen; if it was, she was going to
jail.
Mashaney tried to close her truck and when the officer told her to stop, she replied, “I can
shut my trunk. It’s my car.”
The officer disagreed and he pulled out his handcuffs to detain the woman.
Mashaney wasn’t too pleased to see the cuffs and she started to pull away. The officer got
her in the handcuffs, but she wasn’t done fighting. She refused to walk to the patrol car and
started kicking the officer when he placed her in the car. She put her leg between the door
and frame of the car so the officer couldn’t shut it. It took a stun from a Taser to get her to
calm down.
Mashaney finally admitted to touching the TV and DVR, but only because she was curious.
A school employee arrived and confirmed that the TV and DVR were school property.
Officers also found a backpack in Mashaney’s vehicle containing some clothes and books
that belonged to the school.
Mashaney is being charged with burglary in the second degree and resisting an officer. She
was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 29, 2015.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

18-year-old Cody Bryan Stout was arrested September 16 for
allegedly entering a man’s home and stealing a safe.
The Blair man admitted he had some of the stolen stuff -- but
he denied stealing it.
According to the police report, a Blair officer was dispatched
to the 600 block of Warren Road shortly after 1 p.m. on September 12. A man at the residence told the officer someone broke
into his home and robbed him. He said he left his house around
6 a.m., and when he returned around 1:15 p.m., his house was
in disarray.
Closet doors and cabinet drawers were open, the back door
was unlocked, and his safe was gone. The items missing included a gun, knife, change from the man’s kitchen counter, collector’s coins, jewelry, money from Iraq and booklets of coins.
The victim said some of the coins stolen were worth $450 apiece.
After the men spoke to some neighbors, Stout became a suspect, as people had seen him
in the area the morning of the theft.
On September 14, the victim contacted the officer and said he found some of his property
at an Altus pawn shop. The owner of the shop had video surveillance of the men who gave
him the stuff -- Stout and a juvenile.
The juvenile male told police he and Stout went to Walmart to use the coin machine, because Stout had some bags full of change. They weren’t very successful, because the machine
rejected some of the coins.
They then went to the pawn shop.
On September 16, police spoke with Stout. He said he didn’t actually steal the stuff -- some
“sons of bitches” gave him the things to go sell. He also admitted he had some more of the
stolen property in his room. He said someone left bags of the stolen property in his backyard, so he hid it in his bedroom.
Police went to his residence and recovered the stolen stuff.
Stout continued to insist he was innocent, but he told police, “I know you have evidence on
me and I am not mad at you for doing your job.”
Stout is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property. He was released on a
$2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2015.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Well, the temperatures are
dropping, and fall is almost here,
and these things signal the start
of football season in Oklahoma! Not only have our major colleges
had their first home games, but all across the state, people are
traveling to and from football games from 4th graders on up to
high school. With that in mind, here are a few tips to make this
football season safe.
Lets start with college. Whether you are a Sooner, Cowboy,
or Golden Hurricane fan, one thing is for sure...you aren’t
alone! There are thousands of fans for each home game
traveling to the stadiums. This volume of traffic demands your
consideration. First, if you can, leave early! The closer to game
time, the worse the traffic gets, so if you can, get to the stadium
early. There are plenty of things on a game day that are going on
prior to kickoff that you can spend your time enjoying. There are
usually lots of free stuff for the kids to do that make the whole game
day experience wonderful for them as well.
Second, be patient! You WILL run into traffic, so plan ahead,
and don’t get frustrated with it. Turn on the radio, listen to the pregame hype, and remember to be a safe, courteous driver. Getting
frustrated, and getting into a hurry, can result in a traffic accident
that will delay your arrival, and could end up being very expensive,
not to mention the potential for injury.
Last, be aware that there are usually some temporary traffic
control changes on game days. Both before and after the games,
law enforcement will be at intersections controlling the traffic
lights, and making adjustments to keep the traffic flowing in the
best possible manner. Be alert and aware, and recognize when and
where these temporary traffic controls are taking place!
Now, on to the local games! The biggest thing I remember from
growing up is that parents are usually running late to get to games,
because of what time they got off work. This has not changed... we
Troopers are stopping folks who are speeding trying to get to a kid’s
ball game all the time. While we understand, (we have kids too!)
we also see all too often what happens when accidents happen as
a result of unsafe speed. If you get stopped by us, you’re going to
be even later, and possibly on the hook for a hefty fine. If you get
involved in an accident, you may not make the game at all.
Finally, when you do get there, be a good fan! Cheer your team,
don’t denigrate the other team. Use appropriate language in the
stands; remember, there are kids of all ages in the stands with you.
We Oklahomans love our football, just remember to show your
support in a positive way!
Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper rewind
