Don’t bite the hand that feeds you -- or stab the arm
that gives you beer.
Newkirk man Jon Wesley Sherrod, 53, allegedly
slashed his neighbor with a tomahawk for no reason other than the victim was just trying to hand him a cold beer.
According to the police report, a Ponca City officer
was dispatched to the 500 block of North Union shortly
after 10 p.m. on July 4. The victim was lying on the floor
with a dark colored T-shirt wrapped around his bleeding
arm. He said Sherrod attacked him during some Fourth
of July festivities. He told the officer he and some of his
friends were drinking. Sherrod became mad about something, and he went
home.
The victim said he went to the man’s home to see if he was OK, but Sherrod
came outside with a Tomahawk and cut the man. The victim was confused,
because he said the men weren’t arguing about anything.
During the tomahawk slash, the victim’s watch was knocked off.
A witness told the officer the same story.
Police went to Sherrod’s residence in the 200 block of W. Broadway to get
the alleged assailant’s account of events. A woman opened the door and told
the officers Sherrod was sleeping. Officers entered the home and found a
tomahawk lying near the sleeping man.
Sherrod told police some of the partygoers tried to get some money from
him. When he said he didn’t have any, a man hit him in the head with a brick.
Officers couldn’t locate a brick on scene. They did, however, see some
blood spatters on the side of a van near the area the witness said the victim
had been cut. A watch with a broken wristband was lying nearby.
Sherrod said that the victim must have cut himself, because the hatchet
wasn’t his. He said the victim threw it inside of his house, trying to hit him in
the head.
Sherrod is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. His bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
July 29, 2016.

For a trio of drug thieves, it was their lucky day. They broke into a home in
Silver Springs, Florida, and discovered three jars of cocaine. They took it home
and snorted the contents. That’s when they discovered that the jars were in
fact urns, and that they were snorting the cremains of the victim’s husband
and two dogs.
When an attempted robbery at a Lowes Home Improvement store went
awry, Milton J. Hodges fled across the street and jumped a fence … right into
the Cypress Cove Nudist Resort & Spa. As the Orlando Sentinel pointed out,
“As one of the only folks wearing clothing,” Hodges was easily spotted by
police.
It’s the worst possible time to faint—in the middle of robbing a bank. But
that’s what happened to a Beavercreek, Ohio, thief. The teller called 911 and
asked for medics. But you have to applaud the man’s stick-to-it-iveness. While
the ambulance was en route, the suspect handed a note to the teller demanding all her cash.
The victim’s jewelry was missing, the electronics were gone, and a window
was smashed. No wonder she was hysterical when officer Charanjit Meharu of
the Calgary police arrived. Then her French-speaking father called. Speaking
in French, she explained that it was all a scam in order to get the insurance
money. What she didn’t suspect was that Officer Meharu speaks six languages, including French.
A 12-year-old boy adamantly denied having stolen an iPhone when questioned by police at his home. And then the iPhone rang in his closet. Okay, yes,
he stole that. But as for the Blackberry he was also accused of stealing, he
double-adamantly denied… *RING!!*
Don’t you hate it when you suffer a heart attack and think you’re going to die,
so you confess to a 17-year-old murder, only to find out you’re not going to
die and then get sentenced to life in prison as a result? Yeah, so does James
Washington, of Nashville, because it happened to him.
Following a dispute, Craig Aylesworth, of Bithlo, Florida, allegedly tossed a
Molotov Cocktail at his neighbor’s trailer home … just as the winds shifted,
sending embers on to his own trailer. Luckily, he was arrested, since he no
longer had a home of his own to return to.
A San Francisco thief pedaled his bike up to a woman on the sidewalk,
snatched the iPhone out of her hands, and rode away. Unknown to him, the
woman was in the middle of demonstrating the iPhone’s new GPS tracking
device, which worked—the thief was captured minutes later.
Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni was impersonating a police officer when
he pulled over another car for speeding. The driver quickly sussed out that
Mastrogiovanni was fibbing since he, too, was a cop, but in his case, the kind
of cop who doesn’t have to pretend he’s a cop because he really is a cop.
Mastrogiovanni was arrested for impersonating a police officer.
How convenient! Only a few months earlier, an Iowa City, Iowa, man had his
driver’s license stolen. Then who should show up at the bar where he worked
as a bouncer, but the thief brandishing the bouncer’s very own license as his
form of ID.
Is there no honor among thieves? While two suspects were being questioned by Ogden, Utah, police about shoplifting from a store, someone broke
into their car and stole a stereo and several other items.
An El Paso, Texas, man busted into a church and absconded with the safe.
Safes are heavy, so he only got a few yards before dropping it on a neighbor’s
lawn, where he tried to crack it open. That’s when he was confronted by the
home’s occupant—a police officer.

A Tulsa man picked an unconventional spot
to hide when an officer approached him to talk
about a stolen vehicle on July 6. The officer
found 42-year-old Donald Eugene Knight Jr.,
42, hiding under a blanket.
According to the affidavit, a Tulsa officer was
dispatched to the 1400 block of N. Tacoma Avenue around 3 p.m. to investigate reports of a
stolen vehicle in the area. The owner of the car,
a local auto sales company, told police that the
vehicle had been tracked to that location by the
GPS in the car.
Police found the car in the driveway of a residence in the 1300 block of N. Quanah Avenue.
As an officer pulled up the the home, he saw
the suspect standing next to the car. When the
suspect saw the officer, he ran inside the house and locked the door.
Other residents of the home eventually let the officer in. Knight was hiding
under a blanket. The officer found the stolen car’s keys in his shorts’ pocket.
Knight told the officer several times that his name was Joseph. Too bad
“Joseph’s” photos looked nothing like Knight.
Other sources gave the officer information, which helped him identify the
suspect as Knight.
Knight had an outstanding felony warrant in Tulsa County.
In the vehicle, police found a baggy containing a Xanax bar and an unidentified crystalline substance.
Knight is being charged with possession of stolen vehicle, falsely personate
another to create liability, possession of controlled dangerous substance and
resisting an officer. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on July 21, 2016.

When a state trooper stopped Tulsa man Landon Scott
Bollenbach for speeding on July 5, Bollenbach said he was
going to a business deal. The man was only wearing a pair of
pajama pants -- no shoes or shirt.
What kind of business is that?
According to the police report, a state trooper was sitting
in his car providing traffic control for a crew fixing a blowout
in the road. Around 9:50 p.m., a vehicle whizzed by them at
83 mph, nearly hitting the patrol car and taking out a construction worker.
The trooper pursued the man and stopped him at mile marker 38.5 westbound. Before the suspect came to a stop, he made an unsafe lane change.
When he started to pull over, he was messing with his phone.
The trooper walked up to the vehicle and asked the man for his driver’s license
and insurance. Bollenback didn’t have a license, but he handed over his insurance verification. When the trooper informed him why he was stopped, Bollenbach replied that he didn’t remember driving through a construction zone. He
smelled strongly like alcohol, and an open 40-ounce bottle of beer was chilling
in the console.
The trooper asked him to step out of the vehicle. When Bollenbach exited, the
trooper noticed his strange attire. Bollenbach said he was on the way to Terlton
for a business deal.
When the trooper told him he missed the exit and was going the wrong way,
the man replied, “Well, no s---. I’m f------ lost then.”
The trooper asked the man if he had been drinking. Despite the open 40 in his
console, Bollenbach told the officer no.
A sobriety test proved otherwise.
When the trooper informed the man he was under arrest, Bollenbach retorted
that the officer couldn’t arrest him for just one beer.
On the way to jail, the man who “hadn’t been drinking” threw up all over the
inside of the patrol car.
Bollenbach is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, transporting opened container of beer, failure to pay taxes due
to state, driver’s license to be carried, speeding in a posted zone and changing
lanes unsafely on turnpike. His bond was set at $7,500, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on July 26, 2016.

Bartlesville man Patrick Lamar Jones, 33,
landed himself in some trouble when an officer
found him passed out in a parking lot on June
29.
According to the affidavit, a Bartlesville officer was on patrol when he saw a black SUV
parked in the middle of the parking lot on Second Street and the 100 block of SE Cherokee.
When he approached the vehicle, he noticed
the driver’s side door was wide open and a
man was passed out in the driver’s seat.
The officer shined his flashlight on the man,
and he immediately woke up. The man’s movements were slow and he told the officer in slow,
slurred speech that he had had too much.
The officer asked him for his driver’s license,
which was in clear view by the gear shifter. The man appeared to be confused
by the question and had trouble locating the identification card even after officers pointed it out to him.
When he finally found it, he was identified as Jones.
While the officer was speaking to the man, he noticed a plastic baggy containing a white powder-like substance on the ground next to the open driver’s
side door. He asked the man to step out of the vehicle. When Jones exited
the SUV, the officer saw more of the white powder on the driver’s seat and
floorboard, the center console, and on the passenger seat.
The powder field-tested positive for meth.
Jones kept telling the officer, “Don’t do this to me! Don’t be like that.”
Well, since the man was in possession of an illegal substance, the officer
had to be like that. He placed the man under arrest and conducted an inventory of his vehicle. He found a plastic grocery bag containing a green leafy
substance that smelled like marijuana -- a test confirmed that it was.
Jones is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance and public intoxication. His bond was set at $25,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, 2016.
