A Poteau woman was arrested after she allegedly went crazy and pulled a knife on her boyfriend.
On Oct. 2, the Poteau Police Department
received a call about an assault; the reporting
party told dispatch that a male with blood on
his hand came to the door holding an infant.
According to the affidavit, when the officer
arrived at the address given by the reporting
party, he saw a man holding a baby standing
in the front yard and a woman standing in the
roadway.
The officer asked them man how his hand had been injured. The
man replied that his girlfriend had cut him with a knife. He said that
the woman standing in the roadway was his girlfriend.
The victim said the assault occurred at his residence where he lives
with his girlfriend, Jamelyn R. Chesser, 22, and their new baby.
He said he went to a friend’s house and when he came home,
Chesser and the baby were asleep on the couch. The victim said he
gave Chesser a kiss and told her he was home.
She allegedly jumped off the couch and told him to leave. The victim said she pushed him down and retrieved a knife from the kitchen.
He said that she placed the knife against his neck and as he grabbed
the blade to protect his neck, Chesser pulled the knife away, cutting
his hand.
The officer made contact with the woman in the road and verified
that she was Chesser. She had blood on her hand and told the officer
that it was from the cut on the victim’s hand.
The officer transported her to jail. Chesser told him that she was
angry because he had been out late and had retrieved a knife from
the kitchen.
She said the victim had grabbed the knife and that’s when his hand
was cut.
Chesser is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon. Her bond was set at $7,500 and she is scheduled to appear
in court on Nov. 5, 2013.

A Wister woman was arrested for possession
of meth after police found that she was in possession of the illegal substance while around
young children.
On Sept. 30, the Wister Police Department received information that there were illegal drugs
at a Wister residence. The informant told police
that there were minors at the residence where
drugs, mainly meth, were being used.
Police went to the residence to investigate the
allegations, according to the police report. When
they arrived, they made contact with the owner of the residence, her
two children and her mother, who identified herself as Kristi Kay Aldridge-McGahen, 42.
Police asked Aldridge if she would consent to allow them to search
her room.
She agreed and police searched her bedroom for evidence of drug
use.
An officer opened the top drawer of her dresser and found two smoking devices with a white residue on them and two straws that contained
a white substance.
Aldridge’s daughter told police that they “could stop now” and
handed them a box from behind the bed that contained some syringes.
Since she had told them to stop, police could no longer search without
a warrant.
Police contacted the Drug Task Force and told them what they had
found. A search warrant was obtained for the residence. An agent fieldtested the residue on a smoking device and it tested positive for meth.
No other items were found at the residence. Aldridge was arrested
and transported to jail.
Aldridge is being charged for possession of controlled dangerous
substances in presence of minor children under 12 and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond information was unknown
at time of publication; she is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21,
2013.

A Wilburton man was arrested and taken to
jail after he admitted to shooting his father with
a double barrel shotgun.
On Sept. 26, a Latimer County investigator
was dispatched to a Wilburton residence in reference to a shooting, according to the affidavit.
When he arrived, he spoke with a deputy who
was with the subject, 21-year-old Kyle Wade
Mitchell.
The deputy told the investigator that he had
made contact with Mitchell earlier in the evening because of a dispute between him and his father. He said Mitchell had asked if he
could shoot his father if he felt threatened.
The deputy said when he was dispatched to residence later the
night, Mitchell excitedly told him, “I shot him!”
The deputy saw a double barrel shotgun in Mitchell’s vehicle and
took it into his possession.
Mitchell said that was the weapon he had used to shoot his dad. He
said his dad was acting crazy, so he had called the cops. Mitchell asserted that his dad told him he was going to kill him. He went to the
end of the road, where he lived, to escape his father, but said he was
scared so he took a gun with him.
Mitchell said he was in his truck when he heard his dad screaming.
He stepped out of his truck and his dad started running toward him,
screaming. Mitchell said he grabbed his shotgun and fired, shooting
his dad.
Police spoke with the victim who told them that Mitchell had shot
him.
Mitchell was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
He is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon. His bond was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear
in court on Oct. 15, 2013.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A Muskogee man was arrested after police found marijuana
and a large sum of cash, which he said his daughter had earned
for cheer camp, in his vehicle.
On Oct. 8, a Kiowa police officer was on patrol when he observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal while switching lanes.
He conducted a traffic stop and when he made contact with
the driver, he could smell the odor of burning marijuana, the
affidavit states.
The driver, Arther Lee McNac, Jr., 30, asked the officer why
he had been pulled over, and the officer informed him that he
had failed to signal his lane change and failed to stay in his
lane.
The officer asked McNac where he was headed and McNac
told him he was driving to Texas.
McNac denied the presence of firearms or illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.
The officer wrote McNac a warning and asked him to step out of his vehicle.
McNac complied and the officer asked for permission to search the vehicle. McNac asked
the officer, “Why do you want to search my vehicle?”
The officer told him that he could smell an odor associated with burning marijuana coming
from the vehicle. McNac explained that his brother had driven his car and smoked a blunt
inside of his vehicle. He gave the officer permission to search his car.
When the officer opened the driver’ side door, he noticed small flakes of a green leafy
substance and seeds lying on the floorboard. Inside the center console, he found two large
bundles of money, totaling more than $2,000.
In the back seat, the officer found a backpack that contained a digital scale, a plastic baggie
that contained small green flakes and another baggie that contained 38 small orange baggies
with green flakes inside of them.
McNac said the backpack belonged to his brother.
Another officer arrived and assisted with the search of the vehicle. He found a small pack
of Swisher Sweets which had six hand-rolled cigarillos inside that field-tested positive for
marijuana.
McNac said the cigarillos belonged to his brother and told police that the large sum of
money belonged to his daughter, who had been working in Muskogee to save up for cheer
camp.
The officer placed McNac under arrest and transported him to jail.
Nothing to cheer about

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
This month’s Tips is less of a tip
than it is a serious request for help
from you, the motoring public. I would like to make a personal
appeal to each and every reader who sees this to help us Troopers
try to eliminate one of the toughest jobs that we ever have to do. It
is something that everyone who drives can have an impact on.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is tasked with the investigation
of motor vehicle accidents on the public roadways outside the city
limits in the State of Oklahoma. In the course of this, we investigate
a huge number of fatalities. For each fatality victim, it is the duty
of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to personally notify the next of
kin. For each life lost, there is a knock on a door somewhere, where
an OHP Trooper has to deliver news that will forever change the
lives of the person or persons on the other side. Sadly, these knocks
on the door could have been prevented by somebody involved in
the accident. Sometimes it’s the person who died whose unsafe or
unlawful action caused the accident that took their life. Often times
it is not.
Each and every Trooper you see working the roads every day has
had to knock on that door. I think if you asked, every single one
would tell you this is the worst aspect of our job. Trying to prevent
this is one of the reasons we do what we do. We know if we work
hard, we can stop some of these knocks. We also know the motoring
public can help us stop some of these knocks as well. The following
are just a few ways for you to do your part to help.
First and foremost, obey the law. It really doesn’t matter if
your personal opinion of the rules of the road don’t make sense,
or shouldn’t apply in certain situations. Each one of them is
designed for us to travel safely on the road. Slow down, and give
your full, undivided attention to the road. Watch out for the other
driver. When you see something happening ahead of you, slow
down! “I was late”, or “I was texting” just doesn’t cut it as responses
to a grieving family when they ask why this happened. Is it
something you could live with if it was your reason for taking a life?
The people on the other side of that knock aren’t the only ones
affected by the experience. We Troopers have all held strangers as
the initial horror and shock of the news takes hold of them. We
have all prayed with families we just met, and asked if we could have
done more to prevent it. Each and every day we are trying to stop
The Knock. Now I’m asking you to help us. Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a substitute
teacher after students reported she was intoxicated and passed
out in a classroom office at Millwood High School.
April Chamberlain, 30, was supposed to be acting as a substitute in a biology class. Students said she appeared disoriented
and used profanity. When students found Chamberlain asleep
in the office, they contacted a coach, who informed the principal.
The principal said after she repeatedly shouted and tapped
Chamberlain on the shoulder, the substitute woke up. The principal said Chamberlain had blood-shot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol.
When a deputy arrived, she saw an open bottle of Canadian Whisky in Chamberlain’s purse. The deputy also noted Chamberlain kept slurring and was unsteady on her feet.
Chamberlain was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail for public
drunkenness.

Three people were arrested for possession of
drug paraphernalia in the early morning hours
of Oct. 3 after the driver failed to use his turn
signal while merging onto the highway.
According to the affidavit, a McIntosh County
deputy was on patrol when he observed the car
make the traffic violation. He initiated a traffic
stop and made contact with the driver, Donald
S. Dailey, 41, of Canadian. Dailey told the deputy
that he didn’t have a driver’s license and that it
had possibly been suspended. The deputy also asked for identification from the passenger, 36-year-old Starlet Denise Harrington of
McAlester and 56-year-old Ernest F. Thompson of Krebs.
The deputy ran the information of the vehicle’s occupants through
dispatch and dispatch informed him that Dailey’s license was, in
fact, suspended and that all three occupants in the vehicle had prior
drug arrests on their records.
The deputy went back to the vehicle and asked Dailey to step out
of the car. He placed him under arrest for driving under suspension.
Dailey gave him consent to search his vehicle.
The deputy asked Harrington and Thompson to exit the vehicle
and placed them in restraints while he searched the car.
Inside the vehicle, the deputy found a glass pipe that contained
a white residue, a brass pipe that contained a black residue and a
small container that contained eight white pills, later identified as
Tramadol.
All three occupants denied knowledge of the items in the vehicle
and each claimed that he or she hadn’t used drugs in the last six
months.
The trio was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
All three subjects are being charged with unlawful possession of
drug paraphernalia. Their bonds were each set at $10,000 bond and
they are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19, 2013.

Like true historic
adventure accounts?
The Bible has them.
Korah learned that
God’s power is greater
than his.
Korah complained
against Moses, but
God chose Moses to
lead Israel. Moses
tells him, “Therefore
you and all your
company are gathered
together against the
Lord” (read Numbers
16:16 in your Bible).
God takes it personally when we don’t honor His servants.
Moses was chosen to lead Israel, but the people grumbled.
They didn’t get what they wanted. We are no different than
Korah and his friends.
We don’t take responsibility to change ourselves, we keep
doing the same things, and when we’re caught or suffer, we
complain and blame others.
What happened to Korah? Read it for yourself in your
own Bible, Numbers 16:28-38. Imagine the horror of this
tragic event! Can history repeat itself? Yes!

A drunk Keota man was arrested Sept.
30 while trying to locate wife in Carterville;
he just wanted to find his better half.
According to the affidavit, the Haskell
County Sheriff’s Office was contacted in
reference to someone “out in a field at
Cartersville yelling for some people.”
When a deputy arrived to investigate
the situation, a lady flagged him down and
told him that a Rodney Sanders had been
in her home looking for his wife before he
ran out into a field. She said he appeared to
be very intoxicated. She said he went down
the street and had possibly entered another residence and obtained
a gun.
The deputy went to the residence and spoke to the homeowner. He
told the deputy that when he arrived home, he found a BB gun that
had been in his vehicle lying in the front yard.
While the deputy was talking to the man, he heard some intelligible
screaming coming from a large field.
The deputy drove in direction of the jabber and spoke to some people that told him the man was walking around screaming a woman’s
name.
The deputy was contacted by 911 who told him that a subject was
down the road from his location. When he arrived, he saw a male
subject wearing jeans and no shirt run into some nearby trees.
The deputy was able to locate the subject and recognized him as
Rodney Owens Sanders, 33, from previous circumstances.

More than 100,000 children and youth in the
U.S. foster care system are awaiting permanent
families. National Adoption Month is a time to
raise awareness about the adoption of children
and youth from foster care.
The Children’s Bureau in partnership with
AdoptUSKids and Child Welfare Information
Gateway sponsors the initiative each November
as a way to focus public attention on the urgent
need for adoptive families for children and
youth waiting in foster care for a permanent
family. This year’s focus, “Partnering for Permanency,” builds on the social media theme
from last year. A special web page on Information Gateway’s website helps child welfare
professionals, prospective adoptive parents, and youth partner for permanency. The website
contains resources, stories, and videos on topics such as getting started with social media,
how to build a recruitment campaign, and how social media impacts child welfare and
adoption. The website can be found at http://www.childwelfare.gov/adoption/nam.
