TULSA, Okla. – Desiree Castaneda was arrested following the pregnancy of her 12-year-old daughter.
The male perpetrator involved, Juan Miranda-Jara, 24, was arrested on July 14 prior to the mother’s arrest, for 1st Degree Rape of Castaneda’s daughter. Miranda-Jara was arrested at a hospital in midtown Tulsa after police received a call concerning potential rape. Miranda-Jara admitted to being in a relationship with the 12-year-old victim since October 2020. At the time of the suspect’s arrest, Tulsa police said the victim was delivering the baby at the hospital.
Following the arrest of Miranda-Jara, an investigation commenced on the parents of the victim. Tulsa detectives found that the mother knew about the relationship and allowed it. According to TPD, detectives learned that the family even threw a baby shower and found photos documenting the celebration. Miranda-Jara was present and welcomed at the victim’s baby shower as images revealed the suspect and the victim together during the festivities.

As a result of the investigation, Castaneda was arrested and charged with Enabling Sex Abuse of the victim, and Child Neglect. The father of the victim is reportedly serving time in prison for 1st Degree Rape which Tulsa police say is unrelated to this case.
On July 29, Castaneda was booked in the Tulsa County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.00
