A Broken Bow man, who apparently thought he was clever
by giving police the wrong first name, learned that not even
false impersonation can keep someone out of jail.
On Feb. 1, Idabel police officers were conducting a traffic
stop when they made contact with a man who attempted to
impersonate another.
According to the affidavit, the front seat passenger told police that his name was Franklin Tanner and he was 28 years
old.
One of the officers noticed that “Franklin Tanner” kept trying to hide something under his seat.
He told “Franklin Tanner” to step out of the vehicle. In the
seat where “Franklin Tanner” had been sitting, there was a
full bottle of beer.
As “Franklin Tanner” exited the vehicle, police noticed that
he began to look around the area, a mannerism they recognized as common in people who are
looking for a way to run from police.
One of the officers detained “Franklin Tanner,” and received permission to search the vehicle. They found a glass smoking device commonly used to smoke methamphetamine; the
device had a residue that field-tested positive for meth.
An officer placed “Franklin Tanner” under arrest, and the officer and the fabricating felon
began the journey to jail.
One of the officers had previously been contacted by a Choctaw Tribal police officer who
told him that a man by the name of Travis Nelson Tanner, 25, had been seen in the casino.
According to the police report, Tanner had warrants in McCurtain County.
The officer obtained the warrants and a photo of Tanner and identified the man in his patrol car as Travis Tanner, not “Franklin Tanner.”
Tanner is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing an officer and transporting an opened container of beer. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
March 4, 2014.
A Tanner by any other
name is still a Tanner

Another New Year has come,
and with it, millions of people
have made resolutions to improve some aspect of their lives. Some
of these resolutions are doomed from the start for a multitude of
reasons. Even though successfully sticking with and accomplishing
a New Year’s resolution goal may not seem to directly relate to
driving safely, I’m going to try and give some tips on increasing
your ability to stick to a resolution, and tie it in to how it could
actually make you a safer driver!
Some of the more popular resolutions are to lose weight, get in
shape, or quit smoking. Each one of these are great goals. So to
achieve a goal, a person must clearly define the actual goal. For
quitting smoking, that one is pretty clearly defined as it is. For the
other, some more clarity is needed. How much weight do you want
to lose? How long are you giving yourself to get there? Once you
define these goals and time lines, write them down somewhere! Put
them somewhere that you are reminded of them each day. Make
sure your goals are reasonable, and attainable. It won’t do any
good to set goals that are unrealistic!
Next, we need to write down how exactly we plan to accomplish
our goals. For smoking, are you going cold turkey, using the patch,
or incrementally cutting down how many cigarettes you smoke a
day until you aren’t smoking at all? For losing weight, write down
your workout program, and schedule. Write down your diet goals
and track it religiously. Try to find someone who will join you in
your workouts and diet. Having someone to count on and someone
counting on you is a great support system for you in your efforts.
Last, tell as many people as you feel comfortable. Get people on
your side to support you, and hold you accountable to your goals
when you have moments of weakness! Believe in yourself! Have a
positive attitude about what you are trying to accomplish.
So how do accomplishing these goals help you be a safer
driver? Studies have shown that people who exercise and eat
right have sharper mental focus. Since a significant percentage
of accidents are caused due to inattention, improved focus will
obviously pay off while driving! Exercise will help improve handeye coordination, which is a big positive while driving! A healthy,
smoke-free body minimizes the risk of heart attack and other
medical issues that could be tragic anytime, not just behind the
wheel.
So there you have it. Successful accomplishment of some of
the most popular New Year’s resolutions will not only have you
slimmer, healthier, and happier, but can have an impact on your
ability to be a safer, courteous driver! Thanks for reading, buckle
up, and be safe!

An Atoka man added a felony to
rap sheet after he ran from police during a traffic stop.
Donnie Ray Dunkin, 28, was
charged Feb. 5 with misdemeanor
counts of obstructing an officer, resisting an officer, escape from arrest
or detention, and a felony charge of
assault and battery on a police officer.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Atoka County Deputy Jason
Smith was traveling westbound just
east of Atoka when he spotted a vehicle with only one working head light.
He activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop. All
was going as normal until he spotted the passenger and recognized
him as Dunkin. He knew Dunkin had a warrant out for his arrest, so
Smith asked him to exit the vehicle.
Dunkin was apparently not in the mood to go to jail, so he told
the deputy repeatedly that he was not Dunkin. The deputy was not
phased by his lies and told Dunkin to put his hands behind his back.
As Smith got closer to Dunkin, Dunkin shoved Smith in his chest
and took off running into the woods. Smith ordered Smith to stop,
but to no avail. Smith then called for backup.
A perimeter of the area was soon set up, but the deputy was able to
track Dunkin from his footprints left on the icy ground. He followed
the prints to a thicket behind a house and found Dunkin lying on the
ground in a feeble attempt to hide.
Once again, Smith tried to arrest Dunkin, but Dunkin resisted,
causing both men to fall to the icy ground. Dunkin managed to
struggle free from Smith and took off running again.
Smith tracked him down again, following his footprints, where he
was taken into custody without further incident where he was hiding
in the area of Ridgewood and Gin Roads.
Resistance is futile

Michael Wilson
Michael Lee Wilson was
pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. on
Jan. 9, 2014, by lethal injection,
for the murder of his co-worker,
Richard Yost.
Michael Lee Wilson and Richard
Kevin Yost were employees at the
local Quik Trip together. Wilson
planned to rob the store with Billy
Alverson, Darwin Brown and
Richard Harjo two weeks prior to
the murder. Shortly after Yost began
his shift on Feb. 25, 1995, Yost was
surrounded by Wilson, Alverson,
Brown and Harjo. Yost was dragged
to the back room where he was beaten to death by an aluminum
baseball bat. Following the beating, Wilson took money from the
store’s safe and cash registers while helping several customers
check out. All of these actions were seen by Quik Trip’s surveillance
tapes.
Shortly after Wilson’s arrest, Wilson’s mother called the police
and directed them to evidence of the robbery that was located at
her home. Police also found the safe and other materials from the
robbery at Alverson’s house.
Prior to this case, Wilson was an accessory to murder in 1995.
While Wilson was in custody, he committed assault and battery
upon another inmate and got into several fi ghts with inmates.
“Michael Lee Wilson was sentenced to death by a jury of his peers
for the heinous beating of Richard Yost, who was simply doing his
job,” Attorney General Scott Pruitt said. “My thoughts and prayers
are with Richard’s family and friends.”

News On 6
A former Rogers County Commissioner who spent time in prison is in trouble
with the law again.
Deputies arrested Randy Baldridge on
Jan. 7.
Tulsa police say a witness has accused
Baldridge of picking up runaway boys
and giving them drugs, sometimes in exchange for sexual favors.
Someone else told police that Baldridge
had given him methamphetamine and he
later woke up naked in a field.
TPD turned over the investigation to
Rogers County since the allegations were
centered there.
The Rogers County THUG task force
took him into custody. They say he had a
16-year-old runaway from Tulsa with him
at the time.
The two were at a Rogers County home
where deputies say they found syringes in
the boy’s backpack that tested positive for
containing methamphetamine.
Deputies say they got permission to
search Baldridge’s vehicle and found a
glass smoking device, several syringes
and a silver spoon, all with a white, powdery substance on them that also tested
positive for meth.
They say all this was found less than
200 feet from the
Tiawah Elementary
School.
An affidavit says
Baldridge admitted
supplying teenage
boys with meth, but
he first claimed he
bought it as a way to
keep the boys from going into those kinds
of places.
It says he originally denied using meth
himself, but later admitted, with tears in
his eyes, that he did use it.
This appears to be a long downward
spiral from where Baldridge was when
voters elected him to be a Rogers County
commissioner.
However, in 2007, a federal jury found
him guilty of money laundering, mail
fraud, obtaining money by fraud and
other counts and a judge sentenced Baldridge to 37 months in federal prison.
The sheriff says when Baldridge was
released from prison, he came back to
Rogers County, got a job and things were
quiet until his office received these recent
complaints.
The affidavit says a second teenage runaway boy has been at Baldridge’s home
many times, for long periods of time, but
he was dropped off at a Tulsa house and
deputies are still searching for him.

An Antlers woman was taken to jail after she destroyed furniture in her apartment, threw items at her husband, and attacked a police officer due to consuming too much Kentucky
Deluxe whiskey on Feb. 4.
According to the affidavit, an Antlers police officer was dispatched to Garden Walk Apartments in reference to a disturbance.
When he arrived, he spoke to man that told the officer that
his wife was out of control. The man took the officer to his residence and as they approached the apartment, the officer could
hear a woman screaming and cursing.
The out-of-control woman’s husband had to force the door
open, but when he did, the officer saw evidence that the wife
was, indeed, out of control.
The officer saw that the woman had overturned the entertainment center and broke some
other furniture and other items in the apartment. As the men entered the living room, the
woman, later identified as 30-year-old Samantha Martin, was obviously not too pleased to
see either one of them.
In apparent whiskey-fueled strength, she broke a leg off of an overturned end table and
threw it at her husband, hitting him in the stomach.
The officer, in an attempt to calm her drunken antics, told Martin that she was under arrest. He then had to pull her out from behind a recliner, but in the process, she scratched two
of his fingers, breaking the skin.
Martin continued to resist and kicked the officer in the legs several times. He was finally
able to get her in handcuffs, but she continued to struggle.
The officer asked her husband if she had been drinking; the husband said she had consumed half a bottle of Kentucky Deluxe.
The officer requested backup due to Martin’s combative state; police officers were finally
able to get the boozed up broad into the patrol car, but she continued her inebriated antics
by screaming and cursing at officers, hitting her head on the window and kicking the glass.
Martin was placed in a holding cell as soon as they arrived at the jail because she was still
screaming and cursing.
Martin is being charged with assault and battery on an officer and resisting arrest. She was
released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 26, 2014.

If you’re angry about an arrest, the last
thing you probably want to do is threaten to harm a police officer.
It’s not apparent what was going
through Dee Emerson Hensley’s mind
on Feb. 5, but it would appear to an outsider that he wasn’t thinking clearly during his visit to the Coal County Sheriff’s
Office.
The 36-year-old Lehigh man was arrested after he paid police an angry visit
at the sheriff’s office to protest, well, an
arrest.
According to the affidavit, Hensley walked into the sheriff’s office
on Feb. 5, yelling and screaming obscenities concerning an arrest
that had occurred earlier in the night.
Hensley kept making statements directed toward a deputy such as
“I will f--- you up.”
The deputy told Hensley to leave multiple times, because he was
causing a disturbance.
Hensley ignored the deputy and continued to yell obscenities and
threatened to harm the deputy.
After several minutes of yelling obscenities and threats, the belligerent man turned to leave, but he must have changed his mind,
because he turned back and started walking toward the deputy in an
aggressive manner.
He started poking the deputy in the face and continued yelling
threats and obscenities.
Police informed Hensley that he was now under arrest. A struggle
ensued between other officers and Hensley, but the officers were finally able to place Hensley in handcuffs and transport him to jail.
Hensley is being charged with obstructing an officer. He was released on a personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear
in court on March 7, 2014.
A very bad decision
James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), is providing the following public service announcement:
The public is advised there is currently a fraudulent
phone and e-mail scam targeting Oklahoma utility customers. Customers have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be with the utility company’s billing
department. The caller advises the customers they have a
past-due balance, and if they do not provide credit card or
bank account information, their service will be remotely
terminated.
Customers have also received e-mails stating their bill is
now available and that the amount owed is past due. The
e-mail instructs customers to click on an embedded link to pay the past-due bill. The public
is advised this is a fraudulent phone and e-mail phishing scam.
This type of fraudulent solicitation is not unique to utility companies, and similar scams
have been attempted using banks, government agencies, and numerous other legitimate
businesses. Individuals should not provide any information or click on the embedded links.
Individuals who receive suspicious or unsolicited phone calls or e-mails should contact their
service provider or the involved business directly to verify the validity of the request.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Jan. 30 must have been a crappy day for Cynthia Marie Lummus,
43. The Sherman, Texas, woman was apprehended in the Durant
Lowe’s bathroom after she allegedly attempted to steal a buggy full
of items from Wal-Mart.
According to the affidavit, a Durant police officer was dispatched
to Wal-Mart in reference to a female subject attempting to steal
items. On the way to the business, dispatch advised that the subject,
Cynthia Marie Lummus, 43, had left Wal-Mart and had entered the
Lowe’s parking lot.
When the officer entered Lowe’s, an employee told him that she
was in the restroom.
A female officer arrived on scene, and she entered the restroom in an attempt to locate Lummus. When she entered the restroom, she noticed that the handicap stall door was locked.
She told the occupant that she was the police; the occupant kept telling her to hold on, that
she was sick. The officer asked her if she often stood on the toilet to throw up.
The occupant changed her story and said that she was urinating; the officer asked the same
question.
The occupant then told the officer to hold on, that she had to zip her pants.
Finally, the elusive Lummus unlocked the stall door and exited from her porcelain refuge.
The officer placed Lummus in custody and during a search, found a clear zip it baggie and
a cut straw, both with a white residue, in her right pocket. The residue later tested positive
for meth.
Lummus told police that she had found the items on the ground and she thought it was her
duty to pick them up.
On the way to jail, Lummus suddenly told the officer for whatever reason, “I brought that
Vick’s inside the store with me. I didn’t get it off the shelf, it was in my purse.”
Dispatch advised the officers that Lummus had two outstanding warrants for her arrest.
Lummus is being charged with possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession
of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $3,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court
on March 6, 2014.

Reports of crime in the neighborhood
can make one feel uneasy. The affected
community may work to rebuild
its sense of security by hiring more
police, improving street lighting, and
imposing strict curfews. In addition
to this, community efforts to reduce
poverty and provide better educational
opportunities for all community
members can help eliminate crimes of
desperation and strengthen the fiber of
the community.
To eliminate crime entirely, wouldn’t
we also need to address other issues
that cause criminal behavior? Wouldn’t
we need to address things such as
dishonesty, disrespect, greed, and hatred that seem to come from
within individuals? As Jesus pointed out, “Evil thoughts come out
of the heart” (Matthew 15:19 New International Reader’s Version).
To end criminal behavior, we need to reach the heart of people with
the healing touch of divine Love.
Jesus’ life, recorded in the Bible, shows us how to love as God
loves. This spiritual love changes people’s hearts. Knowing that
God is only good and is the true Father and Mother, the governing
Principle, of all humanity, Jesus looked beyond the erring human
personality to discern the pure and perfect spiritual identity of an
individual. Jesus loved – deeply appreciated and acknowledged –
this true identity. When he met Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector,
Jesus loved him as God had created him, looking beyond his corrupt
behavior to perceive reality – Zacchaeus’ honesty and uprightness
(see Luke 19:2-8). This perfect love reached the heart of Zacchaeus
and changed his behavior. He pledged to return the money he had
taken unlawfully, recompense for the wrong he had done, and
reestablish his life on an honest foundation.

Not freezing in the cooler
Robert Vick, a 42-year-old inmate who escaped from Blackburn
Correctional Complex in Lexington, turned himself back in less than
48 hours later when he decided jail was better than freezing to death.
According to police, Vick escaped from a minimum security facility
in Lexington Sunday, however, the plan quickly backfired when he
encountered an unexpected dose of cold weather.
Local wind chill temperatures were 20 degrees below zero Monday
in Lexington, according to weather reports. Vick would have been
dressed in prison issued khaki pants, a shirt and a jacket, according
to Department of Correction spokesperson, Lisa Lamb.
As temperatures dropped between Sunday and Tuesday morning,
Vick reportedly walked into a motel and asked the clerk to call
police. He reportedly told the clerk that he wanted to turn himself in
because it was too cold outside.
Arriving officers called in paramedics to check Vick out before he was returned to Blackburn,
said Lexington police spokesperson Sherelle Roberts
“This was definitely of his own volition,” said Roberts. “It’s cold out there, too cold to run
around. I can understand why the suspect would turn himself in.
Vick was serving a six-year sentence for burglary and criminal possession of a forged
instrument when he escaped.

Reward Off ered in
Manchester, Grant County,
Homicide
The OSBI is off ering up
to a $5,000 reward for
information leading to the
arrest and conviction of
the person(s) who killed a
Manchester woman May 1,
2013.
Paula George, 49, was shot
in the back while inside her
home located at 79051 Kiowa Road. She died shortly
after. The Grant County Sheriff ’s Department
requested OSBI assistance in the case.
It was determined the gun was fi red from outside
the house. Agents have interviewed numerous
individuals and tested possible evidence, but
investigators have run out of leads.
“It is highly likely someone has information
about this shooting. We are hopeful a reward for
information will encourage that person to come
forward to help solve this case,” Jessica Brown,
OSBI PIO, says. If anyone has information, contact
the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.

A Hugo man was arrested after worried motorists informed
police of a white van driving recklessly through Hugo.
According to the affidavit, a Hugo police officer spoke to a
woman who told him a white man had just run a red light at
Second and Jackson, almost hitting her vehicle head on. The
officer left the Communication Center to see if he could find
the recklessly-driven white van.
As the officer approached the intersection of K and Dalton,
he saw a white van stopped facing northbound. There was a
male standing at the driver’s door who appeared to be keeping the driver in the van until the officer could get there. But,
the driver had other plans. He slammed the door shut and
began to drive away. The officer turned on his lights, and the
driver pulled over in a parking lot, almost striking a building.
The officer recognized the driver from past encounters as
Larry Joe Ollie, 41. The officer asked him if he had his driver’s license taken care of. Ollie told
him it was still suspended.
The officer also asked Ollie if he had been drinking. Ollie said yes, and handed the officer a
bottle of vodka that appeared to have three or four drinks taken out of it.
The officer placed Ollie under arrest and asked him if he had any type of narcotics on him
or his vehicle. Ollie said no, and the officer transported him to jail. As the officer was attempting to get his paperwork together at the jail, he heard the jailer yell, “I need help!” As
the officer walked around the corner, he saw that Ollie had the jailer pinned up against the
wall.
Officers were able to get Ollie under control and back to the book-in window.
The officer located a square metal box used to protect cigarette packs in Ollie’s pocket.
When the officer opened the box, he pulled out a small plastic baggie containing a crystallized substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
As for the jailer Ollie attacked, he sustained injuries to his face and his finger, where Ollie
had bitten him.
Ollie is being charged with possession of contraband in a penal institution by inmate, assault and battery upon a police officer and driving under suspension. His bond was set at
$20,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 25, 2014.

dus OBSTRUCTION OF OFFICER fta SHOPLIFTING
On February 3, 2014, a warrant was issued
for the arrest of Sandro Ramos, 39, on behalf of the Simpsonville Police Department in
South Carolina.
Ramos has been charged in South Carolina
with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16. He is currently incarcerated
in the Choctaw County Jail awaiting trial on
a charge of first degree rape and four counts
of lewd molestation that occurred in Choctaw
County in 2013.
Ramos, a gymnastics instructor and owner
of Gymnastics and More in Hugo was arrested during a joint investigation by the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State
Bureau of Investigation in October 2013 for rape in the first degree of a
child under the age of 14. Four counts of lewd molestation were added
to the charges after a preliminary hearing in Choctaw County District
Court December 18, 2013.
Ramos was a member of the Oklahoma Gymnastics Board and has
coached gymnastics in Florida, South Carolina, and Hugo, Oklahoma.
He has been living in Oklahoma since 2011.
The joint investigation by the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office and the
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation identified a potential victim of
Ramos in South Carolina. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was contacted and investigative assistance was requested in
locating and interviewing Ramos’ former student. During the interview,
the victim disclosed being sexually abused by Ramos in South Carolina.
The investigations in Oklahoma and South Carolina are ongoing.
Based on the facts of the case, it is believed Ramos may have other victims who have not been identified.
A hold has been placed on Ramos by South Carolina authorities who
plan to extradite him for prosecution after the case in Choctaw County
is resolved.
