Around 3:45 P.M. on May 6, Oklahoma Game
Warden Captain Mike Virgin (District 3 - Chief)
was notified of a vehicular assault that occurred
north of Broken Bow. Captain Virgin received
information on the whereabouts of the suspect
vehicle. Capt. Virgin was joined by Deputy Corey Sharrock of the McCurtain County Sheriff's
Office.
Capt. Virgin and Deputy Sharrock went to the
residence north of Broken Bow. The officers located the suspect vehicle and were greeted by
the alleged driver, later identified as Charles
Brown, 42.
The officers explained that he would have to
be taken into custody. At that point Brown made an attempt to retreat to his
house with Capt. Virgin in foot pursuit. Brown retrieved a semiautomatic rifle
and began shooting at the officers. At a distance of around 15 feet away, Capt.
Virgin jumped for cover as bullets whizzed by. Deputy Sharrock fired at the
suspect hitting Brown near the elbow. He then fired at the deputy, hitting him
in the pelvic area below his bullet resistant vest.
Capt. Virgin was able to call for back up, and minutes later deputies, park
rangers, game wardens, state troopers, and officers from nearly every municipality were soon at the scene. The deputy was flown to Texarkana, TX where
he is being treated for gunshot wounds.
Deputy Sharrock is being hailed as a hero by officers at the scene. Preliminary evidence shows that through his actions, he kept Brown at bay while
Capt. Virgin was able to get to cover.
Brown contacted the Sheriff a short time later and wished to surrender. He
was taken into custody without incident and transported to a local hospital
for treatment.
Brown is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon,
shooting with intent to kill and possession of firearm after former felony conviction. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
June 30, 2016.

Horrific Crimes that
Changed America
Kitty Genovese and 9-1-1
One of these crimes occurred exactly 52
years ago on March 13, 1964. A young woman, Kitty Genovese, was stalked, stabbed,
raped, and murdered. It is speculated that
many of her neighbors heard and/or saw the
gruesome crime but neglected to help. Part
of the problem was that at the time of her
murder, concerned citizens had to dial “O”
for operator or the local police station number (there were five different numbers for each of the five New
York City boroughs) and their call would then be relayed to a
communications bureau and then passed on to the precinct.
Only then could a police officer be dispatched to the scene of
the crime. This obviously time-consuming process caused severe delays in response times (some even believe that some of
Kitty’s neighbors did call the police during her attack but their
calls were either lost or delayed by the insufficient police communications system of the 1960s).
A few years later in 1967, the President's Commission on
Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice recommended the development of an emergency reporting system
that would utilize a single universal number nationwide. On
February 16, 1968, the first 9-1-1 call was made in the United
States in Haleyville, Alabama and by 1987, the majority of the
American population had access to 9-1-1 emergency service

An Atoka man allegedly exposed himself to an unfortunate victim on May 10.
According to the affidavit, the victim said she saw 51-year-old
Henry Leon Walker just standing outside with his junk hanging
out.
An Atoka officer was parked at the intersection of McNally
Street and West 13th when the victim drove up and parked next
to the patrol car. She told the officer she was driving in front of
the Cedar Ridge Apartment Complex and she saw a man standing
next to the road in front of the apartments. He wasn’t just standing, though. The man’s pants were around his knees, and his penis and testicles were on display for the world to see.
The woman said it appeared as if he was masturbating.
As if it wasn’t bad enough that the woman had to be exposed to
the man’s, um, stuff, her two children were also in the car with her.
The officer went to the apartment complex and saw Walker standing outside. He asked the
man if he had exposed himself to the public.
Walker said no.
The officer placed him in handcuffs and put him in the patrol car.
Walker then said that earlier that day, his pants had fallen down while he was outside.
The officer informed him that he was under arrest, and he transported him to jail.
Walker is being charged with indecent exposure. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on May 18, 2016.

Antlers man Charles Ray Doctor,
22, went to jail on May 7 after people
reported he was trying to break out
car windows.
He didn’t go without a fight though
-- he is also facing charges of assault
and battery on an officer.
According to the police report, an
Antlers officer was dispatched to the
600 block of NE D to investigate reports of an intoxicated person trying
to break out car windows. When police arrived, they saw Doctor leaning
on the carport doors. When the man
saw the officers, he yelled, “You called the mother f----- police on me,
you mother f------!”
He then started walking toward the police.
An officer took out his taser and told the man to get on the ground.
Another officer placed the man in handcuffs. Doctor started screaming at officers, calling them “mother f------ pigs.” He also spit in an
officer’s face.
When they put him in the patrol car, he started kicking the vehicle.
An officer removed him from the car to check him for a knife. When
he tried to put the man back into the car, Doctor head-butted him.
The knife was found about four feet from where Doctor was standing when the officer pulled up.
Doctor is being charged with assault and battery upon a deputy
sheriff, spitting saliva on a police officer, malicious injury to property
of another, public intoxication, disturbing the peace and assault. His
bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
May 18, 2016.

An L.A. gang member, Nazario Conchuza Gonzalez,
who is part of the infamous Ms-13 gang, also called Mara
Salvatrucha, has died of medical complications after attempting to gold plate his own genitals to celebrate his
21st birthday.
The young man that is originally from El Salvador and
is an active member of the MS-13 crime family is believed
to have attempted to gold plate his own genitals with a
professional automotive gold plater stolen from a local
garage after first painting his genitals with a lead-based
paint, believe experts.
The 21-year old man who was allegedly a fan of the 2002 American comedy
movie Goldmember, which is a loose parody of the James Bond films Goldfinger,
had taken the Spanish nickname of “Pelotas de oro”, or golden testicles, before attempting to gold plate his own genitals to his ultimate demise.
Dr Ian Joseffson of the Los Angeles Community Hospital warns of a growing
trend within gang members to attempt the “deadly operation”.
“This is the third case this year, but we have had many occurrences in hospitals
in the region these past years. It seems to be a growing trend within the gang member community” he told reporters.
“I have no idea where this idea comes from but plating one’s own genitals will
only ultimately end in serious medical complications or even death, as we have
seen in this case” he explained.
Some experts believe the tradition might find it’s roots in prehistoric Mesoamerican cultures, such as the Mayas who painted parts of their bodies with gold paint
to empower themselves and as an offering to the gods.

Coalgate man Edgar Arnold Buchanan, 29, was arrested for allegedly attacking his mother’s houseguest
on April 28.
He obviously didn’t know you’re supposed to treat
guests with respect -- or he was under the influence
of drugs.
A Coalgate officer was dispatched to the 300 block
of E. Delmar to investigate the incident. According to
the police report, a woman at the house told the officer her son hit her houseguest and knocked her to
the ground.
It didn’t take long for the officer to locate the suspect. He was out in the street stumbling around, flailing his arms and yelling. He fell to the ground several times while the officer was
watching him. It appeared that he was high on drugs.
Buchanan claimed that his brother assaulted him. Even though the officer
didn’t see any visible signs of assault, Buchanan insisted that he needed medical
attention.
While they were waiting for EMS to arrive, the officer spoke to the other people
who were at the residence when the assault occurred. The victim and another
woman told the officer that Buchanan head-butted the victim and knocked her to
the ground, breaking her glasses.
Buchanan was transported to the hospital.
After being medically cleared, the officer placed the man under arrest and took
him to jail.
Buchanan is being charged with assault and battery, public intoxication and
malicious injury to property under $1,000. His bond was set at $1,780, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2016.

Durant woman Jayme Ann Marie Williams, 22, was arrested
on May 8 after she allegedly rammed a car that her baby daddy
was riding in.
According to the police report, a Durant officer was dispatched
to the 1300 block of N. 7th shortly after 10 a.m. to investigate an
assault. The victim told police Williams rear-ended her vehicle
near the intersection of N. 4th Avenue and Willow Street. She
said she didn’t know why Williams hit her car, but her passenger was the father of Williams’ child.
The officer went to the suspect’s residence and saw a vehicle
sitting in the driveway -- there was damage on the front of the car consistent with
the victim’s account.
Williams said there was no altercation, and she didn’t hit anyone’s car. She told
the officer the damage on the vehicle was from a previous collision.
The officer placed the pregnant woman in handcuffs and transported her to jail.
The officer spoke with the victims, who said they saw Williams parked at the passenger’s home. So, the woman said she sped away in order to avoid conflict.
The male riding shotgun told her to slow down, because he was scared Williams
would chase them.
She did.
After ramming the vehicle, the victims said Williams drove to the driver’s side of
the car and threw a cup of tea through the open window.
The victim’s vehicle was damaged in the back, consistent with a rear-end collision.
Williams was transported to jail and put in a cell. She was also served with three
city warrants.
Williams is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Her
bond was set at $5,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on May 27, 2016.

We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

Powderly, Texas, man Richard Allen Wilson, 50,
was arrested on May 7 for allegedly pointing a gun
at his ex-girlfriend during an argument over a dress
and heels.
Apparently, they both wore the outfit, but the ex insisted on keeping it.
According to the police report, a Choctaw County
deputy was dispatched to a residence to investigate a
complaint of shots fired.
A man at the house told the officer a man called
Cowboy came to the residence, fired a gun, and then
pointed it at him.
A woman on scene identified Cowboy as Wilson.
She told the officer she was Wilson’s ex-girlfriend.
The man came to the residence and asked for his
property back. She advised Wilson that the only thing
she had of his was a dress and a pair of heels. Wilson
bought the outfit for her, but they both wore it.
The woman said she told her ex that the outfit looked better on her, so she was keeping it. This
pissed Wilson off. He walked out to his vehicle, and the man and woman in the house heard
gunshots. They walked outside and Wilson pointed the gun at both of them. He allegedly told
the man that the next one was “going through” him.
Wilson then fired another round into the ground and drove off.
The victims described the gun as a black 9mm semiautomatic handgun.
The officer found three impacts in the ground around the home. He also collected a loaded
9mm round and a 9mm shell casing from the residence.
The suspect was brought in for questioning on May 12. He told the officer that he fired the
gun at the ground three times, but he told the officer he never pointed the gun at anyone.
Wilson said after the incident, he drove to his mother’s house in Powderly and put the gun
in a lunchbox on top of a toolbox.
Local police were unable to locate the firearm.
Wilson is being charged with two counts of feloniously pointing firearm and reckless conduct with firearm.
