A normal day at work for Stillwater Long
John Silver’s employees nearly turned deadly after they confronted a former employee
with proof he was embezzling from the restaurant Sept. 11.
Just after 11 a.m. that day, Stillwater police
officer Jerry Burrow went to the restaurant
after receiving a report of a man threatening
the caller with a knife. The suspect, Chance
Reeder, 25, left the building in a fury and
was sitting outside in his red Pontiac for a
while, but he then left the parking lot in an unknown direction.
When Burrow arrived, the man said he believed Reeder was embezzling money from the business, so he planned to fire him. When
Reeder got to work, the man told him to wait in the lobby for the
district manager, who would help with the termination process, he
said. However, Reeder refused to sit quietly, starting an altercation. After a shouting match, the man told Reeder to go outside
because he was disturbing other employees and customers, but at
that point Reeder took out his butterfly knife and made slashing
motions toward him. Reeder then told him he was going to “cut
him the f--- up,” before finally storming out of the restaurant.
A female employee at the restaurant said she heard the man and
Reeder arguing, adding that Reeder called the man a “b----“ before he left. Afterward, Burrow and another officer met Reeder at
his apartment, where he was crying outside the front door. Reeder
accused the man of embezzling from the store, cursing at him, following him around and spitting on his face. He only pulled out the
knife in response to the man saying, “What are you gonna do about
it, b----“ to him, Reeder said. Despite this, Reeder told police he
was willing to complete anger management because he knew he
had an anger problem.
Reeder faces one charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. He
posted a $5,000 bond Sept. 24 and has court set for 1:45 p.m. Oct.
29.

PUBLIC DRUNK LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT RESISTING EXECUTIVE OFFICER
After scaring freshmen pledges during a fraternity’s initiation bonfire, a recently-suspended OSU student could face some hazing of his own – in prison.
On Sept. 6, an OSU employee told campus police Sgt. Daniel Ray that Owen Hossack, 22,
pointed a gun at two students during a fraternity pledge event. At 10 a.m. Sept. 9, Ray spoke
with one of the freshmen, who said he and another freshman were told to get inside of an extended cab pickup parked at the fraternity house Aug. 16, which would take them to a bonfire
initiation event scheduled for them at Highway 86 and Interstate 35. When they got in the
car, they were told not to look around at the other people inside. Hossack was sitting on the
front console facing the rear of the car, he said.
During the drive, the upperclassmen in the car were yelling at them about what it means to
be in their fraternity. Hossack handed both freshmen a bullet and then used a light to show
there was a bullet inside the handgun. Hossack then disengaged the safety, pointed the gun
at one of the boys’ heads and asked him if he would take a bullet for the other boy. The pledge said he would not,
which elicited a yelling speech from Hossack about the pledge not knowing the true meaning of brotherhood.
Next, Hossack asked the other pledge the same question, to which he replied “yes, sir.” As a result, Hossack placed
the gun to his neck and used it to push his head into the pickup’s back window, according to the affidavit. At that
point, the freshman said he was having a hard time breathing because the gun was pushed to his neck, so he started to
cough. Hossack made fun of him for coughing, then removed the gun from his neck and fired it less than 10 seconds
later, exploding the passenger side rear window. He was “extremely scared” afterward, the pledge said.
In a separate interview on Sept. 11, Hossack admitted to all the allegations, saying he thought the rear window was
open, which was why he chose to aim the gunfire at it.
Hossack was charged Sept. 27 with two counts of felonious pointing of a firearm. He posted a $10,000 bond Sept.
30 and is due in court at 10 a.m. Nov. 4.

Or like one who lies down on the top of a mast.
35 “They struck me, but I did not become ill;
They beat me, but I did not know it.
When shall I awake?
I will seek another drink.”
These words were sent to a son nearly 3,000 years ago
(see Proverbs 23:29-35).
Such wisdom can be cherished or trashed. Serious legal
and personal problems will likely occur if this wisdom is not
cherished. Think about it.

support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

hurting the elderly, disabled, or children... This
really makes me sick. Those poor elderly women
didn’t deserve that. I will be praying for them!
Winnie B: Send him back to Africa, minus his
junk!!
Jerrod W: Society is very messed up! Not because
people like this have lost their minds, but as i read
i cant help but notice that it says “a chance to
prosecute someone”!! Really?? Thats about right!
These people do this sh**, get “prosecuted” then
they are right back out there, at it again!
Tina F: This is so terribly wrong. What if this

will be nothing. We need to give these sick asses
a way waay harsher punishment then what they

Matthew H: Why do you say that his punishment
will be nothing? More than likely he will recieve a
great punishment & he will also be branded for the
rest of his life as a sex offender which he deserves!
Jesse S: he can just go rot in a hole
Jamey E: Castrate him without anesthesia and
then send him back to africa with a brand on his
forehead...molester
Stevie W: That hits way to close to home! We

been in long term care since 1956, and I have been
working for.our nursing home for 13 years, and
we have never had these issues... yet. I pray we
never do! -this guy will get his too... only God can
determine what eternal punishment he gets!
Elden B: What 5 yrs get out in 2 and do it again
till he gets caught again while his victims live their
lives with that pain? Thats enough for you?
GREEN CARD ROMEO
Broken Arrow police arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting
two nursing home patients.
The women are 93 and 80 years old, and are patients at Franciscan
Villa in Broken Arrow. Police say what helped in their investigation is
how quickly the staff there contacted police.
Police say Uqbasilassie Zerie admitted to sexually assaulting the two
women several times over the past six or seven months. They say the
situation came to light when one of his co-workers saw something
unusual.
“She goes into the elderly patient’s room, turns on the light and sees
the suspect pulling up his pants,” said Cpl. Leon Calhoun, of the Broken Arrow Police
Department.
The staff at Franciscan Villa called police that very day, September 11, 2013.
The next day when Zerie came into work, the staff says he admitted assaulting the woman
in that room.
Officers say, when they interviewed him, he also admitted to assaulting the second victim.
Zerie’s Facebook page says he worked for St. John, the company that owns the Villa, but
he didn’t say what his job was.
Zerie’s not listed as a licensed nurse on the state’s website.
Police say that early reporting was key.
“It’s better to get out there and verify there’s not a problem than to be called after the fact
and miss a chance to prosecute someone, because there’s no evidence or he’s gotten out of
the area,” Calhoun said.
Police say the suspect is working in this country on a green card from East Africa. They
say he’s been working in the Broken Arrow area for the past two years. Now, he faces five
counts of sexual assault.

A Tinker Air Force base resident could
face removal from the area after he was
arrested on assault complaints before a
concert Sept. 7.
Around 5:30 a.m. that day, Guthrie
police officer Mark Bruning received
a call from a man who was camping in
the flats for the Gentlemen of the Road
concert tour, which featured the band
Mumford & Sons. The caller pointed out
a man in a white hat and green shirt who
was argumentative with everyone and
acting aggressively toward other campers. Bruning and another
officer found the man and his friend, Ryan Kepp, near a hand
wash station, and Kepp was incoherently drunk, Bruning said.
When Bruning asked what was going on, Kepp slurred “We
are just pumping water.” Even after he was told officers weren’t
talking to him, he kept saying “We are just pumping f---ing water!” Kepp also refused to give his ID to police, which resulted
in his arrest on an obstruction complaint. But Kepp wouldn’t go
away quietly.
Kepp pulled away from the officers and began to struggle,
making a fist and nearly punching Bruning in the face. He kicked
at the officers in attempts to escape, and fell with Bruning into
a hand wash station, breaking the plastic. Eventually, Kepp was
tackled to the ground and placed into custody, but not before
he kicked Bruning in the shin. Once he calmed down, the reason for his behavior became obvious: he had a “heavy odor” of
alcohol on his clothes and breath, and once he was arrested he
could barely walk and kept cursing at police. Bruning reported
injuries to his shin and shoulder after the incident.
Kepp faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer,
obstruction and public intoxication. He posted a $7,000 bond
Sept. 9 and will be in court at 9 a.m. Oct. 24.

DOMESTIC a&B STALKING
A broken gas meter landed an Edmond man in jail on drug and drunken driving charges Sept. 15, police say.
Around 2 a.m. that day, officer Erik Lamb helped another officer find
a silver Dodge truck in a local alley, and he heard the truck’s driver was
rolling around in the grass drunkenly. He arrived to see the truck had
struck a fence and broke a gas meter. While fire department personnel
and ONG took care of the gas leak, Lamb walked to the truck, where he
saw the driver, Kevin Bostwick, 24, fall out of the driver’s side door.
Bostwick tried to walk to the officer but leaned heavily on the truck and
fell back on the ground, Lamb said. The other officer helped Lamb drag
Bostwick away from the scene, and they noted he was unconscious and
obviously drunk.
During a check of his license, police discovered Bostwick had a outstanding warrants for
a previous DUI, driving under suspension and carrying a weapon while drunk. Bostwick was
then arrested on suspicion of DUI and asked to take the implied consent test, but he mumbled
incoherently and kept yelling, “No.”
A search of the vehicle revealed an open Miller Lite can behind the passenger seat, which was
still cold and half-full. There was also a pipe and small bag of marijuana under the truck’s center
console.
At the city jail, Bostwick’s drunkenness didn’t dissipate. He kept yelling at the officers to let
him go and to go away while they tried to take his fingerprints. He was put in a holding cell to
sober up before going to county lockup.
Bostwick faces charges of actual physical control while intoxicated, possession of a controlled
substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted a $9,000 bond Sept. 16 and will next
appear in court at 9 a.m. Oct. 24.

A Lincoln County couple’s attempt at drug trafficking was halted Sept. 10 after police said
they failed to follow basic rules of the road.
Around 9:40 a.m. that day, Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Clint Painter was on routine
patrol when he saw a blue SUV fail to signal before making a lane change on the Turner turnpike. The driver of the SUV paid the toll and pulled into a parking lot at the toll plaza, and the
man, Lah-gee Foster, got out of the car to put the hood up. Painter parked and approached
Foster and his passenger, Ashleigh Daugherty, to talk to them about the traffic violation.
Daugherty told Painter she was pregnant and had to go to the bathroom, so Painter escorted
her to the turnpike office to try to let her in, but he couldn’t enter the building. The trooper
then returned to the SUV, where he spoke to Foster, who he said was “extremely nervous.”
During the stop, Foster and Daugherty handed Painter Missouri licenses, which made
Painter curious. The officer had Foster sit in his patrol car to ask some more questions, and
Foster gave “implausible travel plans,” according to the affidavit. He also kept mouthing to
Daugherty, so Painter went back to the SUV to speak to her. At that point, he smelled marijuana coming from the car, so Painter performed a search.
Under the vehicle, Painter noticed a black trash bag, which looked as if someone tried to
hide it there. The bag had two bundles of hydroponic marijuana, which weighed two pounds
total, according to the affidavit. The couple was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute.
Foster posted a $20,000 bond Sept. 13 and will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Jan 6. Daugherty has court set for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23. She remains in custody.

A Chandler man faces felony charges
after he got tazed following an attack on
a police officer during a diabetes-induced
freakout Sept. 2.
Around 9:30 a.m. that day, Chandler officer Dax Phipps received a report
from dispatch about a car running over
a brick mailbox. The suspect, Audel Munoz-Chavez, left the scene in a red fourdoor Dodge, and dispatch told Phipps
that Chavez may be fighting with a family member inside while driving. When
Phipps arrived nearby, he saw a man running northbound with several people standing outside by the car,
which had severe front end damage. The man said he was running
from Chavez because he took Chavez’s keys.
Phipps then spoke with a woman on the scene, who said Chavez
was still inside the vehicle and he just hit her car. Chavez refused
to roll the window down or exit the car, even though both front
airbags deployed. Chavez continually refused to open the door
and started reaching in his car, making Phipps point his gun at
him to put his hand on the wheel.
The woman said Chavez had been acting strangely lately because he hadn’t been taking care of his diabetes symptoms. Eventually, Chavez opened the driver door but would not get out of the
car. Phipps pulled out his taser to attempt to gain compliance,
but Chavez only charged at him instead. The officer stepped backwards and deployed the taser, hitting Chavez in the stomach and
stopping him just long enough for him to break one of the taser
probes. Chavez tried to attack Phipps again, earning him a dry
stun, which resulted in Chavez falling back into the car, slamming
the door shut and locking it.
Soon after, backup arrived to help Phipps arrest Chavez after
the officer broke the window. After multiple instances of locking
and unlocking the door, the officer sprayed pepper spray onto
Chavez’s face, but to no avail. It took one more use of the Taser
to get Chavez to follow the officers’ orders, at least partially. He
continued to resist arrest and ran away, with officers catching up
with him soon after. He was eventually placed in hand and leg
restraints, then evaluated by Chandler EMS, who said his blood
sugar was too high. He was taken to the hospital for monitoring.
Once he was cleared for release from the hospital, Chavez was
transported to the county jail, but not without some final resistance. He faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer,
obstruction, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and
leaving the scene of an accident.
Chavez was released on a medical bond soon after his arrest. He
has court set for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 25.
