Tired of paying for air?
Ours is always free!
Attention!
The Duncan store now has
24 hour pay at the pump
and now has diesel!
There are a lot of situations where slang is a
bad idea; and asking for “dough” at a pizza joint is
certainly a good example. Funny enough though,
the robbers who made off with a bagful of dough
weren’t even victims of a bad pun, they were just
stupid enough to point to a bag behind the counter without verifying that the bag held money instead of pizza ingredients. The moral of the story
is that when holding someone up, you’re much
better off asking them to hand over the cash than
simply pointing to a random bag in the store.
“That’s not mine” just might be one of the oldest excuses in the book when it comes to illicit
substances. While plenty of suspects have tried
to say their drug stash belonged to their friends,
most of them weren’t stupid enough to say it
about crack in their butt crack. Even if it was his
friend’s crack, it certainly was under his “control”
at the time of the arrest, and that’s all that really
matters.
There’s a reason real drug dealers have such a
vicious reputation to uphold. After all, if someone takes their supply, it’s not like they can just
call the police. Amateur drug cultivators aren’t
always hip to these rules, which is why it’s not
entirely surprising that a small-time marijuana
grower called the police when someone stole one
of his prized plants. The police responded to the
crime immediately –by confi scating his four remaining plants.
Robbing a store is a big gamble. Aside from the
risk of getting caught, there’s also a risk that there
won’t be much money in the register at the time.
If you lose that gamble and end up only getting
$586 in the hold up (which is actually pretty decent for a Wendy’s), you probably shouldn’t call
the store to complain. One man learned this the
hard way after police tracked him down when
he called a second time to tell the workers they’d
better have more money in the register the next
time he robs them.

“The world and its desires pass away, but the man

1 John 2:17
A Texas man working in Duncan was
arrested June 2 after a drug-sniffing dog
alerted Stephens County deputies to something funny inside his car during a traffic
stop.
Omar Delao, 27, of Bowie, was booked
into Stephens County Jail on trafficking in
meth and possession of anabolic steroids.
Formal charges of aggravated trafficking in
illegal drugs were filed June 5.
According to the probable cause affidavit,
Deputies David Martin and Richard Keenan observed a vehicle traveling 76 mph in a
65 mph zone just before 4 a.m. They stopped the vehicle driven by
Delao at Highway 81 and County Road 186.
Deputies observed Delao was having a hard time standing still
while they were waiting for his license check. K-9 Bak was called in
to do a free air sniff and alerted deputies on the car.
During a search of Delao’s car, deputies found two small Zip-Loc
bags containing quite a few pink pills inside. They also found 11 vials
of what Delao said were steroids and multiple syringes.
The pink pills were field tested at the jail and tested positive for
ecstasy.

Gilbert Postelle
An Oklahoma County
judge sentenced Gilbert
Postelle to death for the
murder of two people
on Memorial Day
2005. Postelle also was
sentenced to two terms
of life in prison plus 10
years for conspiracy in
the slayings of four people
at an Oklahoma City
trailer house. Postelle,
who said nothing during his sentencing hearing,
showed no emotion when the judge set a December
2008 execution date. That date was essentially
meaningless because all death penalty cases are
appealed automatically. Postelle, 22, was convicted
by a jury on Sept. 9, 2008, of killing James “Donnie”
Swindle Jr., Amy Wright, Terry Smith and James
Alderson. Two days later, the Oklahoma County
jury that heard evidence in the case decided Postelle
should die for killing Wright and Alderson and
spend the rest of his life in prison without the
possibility of parole for killing Swindle and Smith.

A Chickasha man suspected in several burglaries in Marlow was taken into custody June 5 when a Stephens County
deputy spotted his vehicle at a local casino.
Formal charges of second-degree burglary were filed in Stephens County District court against Steven Brummell, 54, and
bond was set at $7,500.
The probable cause affidavit states deputies were alerted to
the first burglary on March 24 at the former Stampede Sales
building. The owner said the thief made off with copper wire
and other scrap metal. Significant damage was also done to
the building when entry was made.
On May 2, deputies placed a surveillance camera near the
thief’s point of entry into the building. A few days later, they
retrieved the camera and found video footage showing a man
in his 50’s in a charcoal gray Camaro backing up to the building. The man got out of the
Camaro and walked away, later returning with items in his hands, of which he placed in the
Camaro. Deputies also noticed the Camaro’s driver’s side mirror was broken.
Almost a month later, Deputy Brandon Burchfield was driving through the Chisholm Trail
Casino parking lot when saw the Camaro and called for backup. Soon, the man seen in the
video, later identified as Brummell, came out of the casino and got into the Camaro. Deputies
stopped him and searched his vehicle. Inside they found more evidence he had been inside
the Stampede Sales building.
A K9 unit was called to search for narcotics and it alerted on the driver and the passenger
side of the Camaro.
Investigators also found receipts from a scrap yard in Saginaw, Texas, and from an RV
rental storage space near Fort Worth. Inside the trunk of the car were several large sections
of copper wire, scrap wire and welding wire leads.
Brummell admitted that he had gone to the Stampede Sales building six or seven times
and removed copper and metal from inside the building. He added that he sold the items at
D&M Salvage in Oklahoma City or at a salvage yard in the Fort Worth area, where they paid
him cash for the items.

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
As gas prices have risen,
many people have turned to
alternative methods of travel from
automobiles. The most common
one is a bicycle.
There are also many bicyclist enthusiasts that ride for pleasure, as
is evidenced by the number of bicycle events across the state, as well
as the number of bicycle clubs that can be found. Since motorists
share the road with them, I’m going to share some tips for the safe
operation of bicycles, and some of the rules everyone should know!
First, wear a helmet! This one is just common sense. It is a fact that
helmets help prevent serious injury resulting from bicycle accidents.
Next, its important to note Oklahoma State Statute 47-11-1202,
which states: Every person riding a bicycle or motorized scooter upon
a roadway shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all
of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this title, except
as to special regulations in this article and except to those provisions
of this
title which by their nature can have no application. Simply put,
bicyclists are entitled to the road just like vehicles, and have to abide
by the same laws, with a few extras.
One of these extras is that bicyclists must ride as close as is safe
to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, except under certain
conditions. Some of those conditions are when overtaking or passing
another conveyance going the same direction, when preparing for or
making a left hand turn, when necessary to avoid certain conditions
such as moving or fixed objects, parked or moving vehicles,
pedestrians or animals, surface hazards, and a few other reasons. A
complete list of the exceptions can be found in Oklahoma State
Statute 47-11-1205. That statute also states that bicyclists may only
ride two abreast except on paths or roadways set aside exclusively
for bicycle use. The majority of problems that arise from bicyclists
has to do with riding more than two abreast, inhibiting the ability of
vehicles to pass large groups. Also, on multi-laned roads, they must
ride within a single lane. Another thing to know is that bicyclists
can’t pass between vehicles on multi-laned roadways.
Not only do bicyclists have some extra rules to follow, but vehicles
have a duty in regards to bicyclists sharing the road. When a vehicle
is overtaking and passing bicycles going in the same direction, they
must leave a safe distance between the vehicle and bicycle of no
less than three feet until the vehicle is safely past the bicycle. The
majority of complaints from bicyclists about vehicles is that vehicles
pass far too closely to the bicyclists. Adhering to this safe distance is
a must for the safety of all!
The best way for bicycles and vehicles to safely share the road is for
the operators to respect the rights of each other. As always, thanks
for reading, buckle up and be safe!

The Stephens County District Attorney’s office has formally charged Miles
Sterling Bench, 21, of Velma, with the
murder of 16 year-old Braylee Rae Henry.
Preliminary reports say Bench was
on duty working at the Tee Pee Totem
Convenience Store the evening of June
6 when Henry went inside the store and
was possibly attacked there by Bench.
Authorities were called when it was
discovered no one was tending the
store.
Investigators found blood in the back
store room.
As the investigation was being conducted, Henry’s parents called in
a missing persons report on her and the car she was driving.
Officers went to Bench’s grandparents’ home in Racliff City where
a K9 unit led them to Henry’s body, which had suffered “obvious
blunt force trauma to the head area.”
Bench’s grandfather said Bench had been to the house earlier,
grabbed some clothes, and left on foot.
Henry’s vehicle was equipped with On-Star and was located a short
time later near Weatherford. Custer County deputies found the car
traveling west on I-40, driven by Bench. The affidavit in the case stated Bench was wearing bloody clothing and there was blood inside the
vehicle. Deputies also state they discovered razor blades, hair dye,
and peroxide inside the car.
Bench was arrested and taken to Custer County Jail before being
transported back to Stephens County where he is being held without
bond.
OKJailbirds would like to convey our condolences to
the family of Braylee Henry in their time of loss.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

OFFICERS NICE BUTT LEADS TO NIGHT
IN JAIL FOR 3 FRIENDS
OKLAHOMA CITY - Police arrested three people at Dan
O’Brien’s restaurant and bar in Oklahoma City after an officer
said a woman slapped him on the buttocks.
The officer and his partner conducted a business check near
N. May Avenue and W. Memorial Road on June 5 around 1:30
a.m. The officer said as he was about to leave, 25-year-old
Stephanie Salas slapped him on the left side of his buttocks.
The officer said he turned and scolded Salas, but she smiled and laughed. The officer
said he told Salas he was serious, but she said what she did was a compliment.
The officer said during the short conversation he noticed Salas had a beer in her hand,
was swaying back and forth, and slurring her speech. He decided to take her into custody
for public drunkenness.
The officer said before he could arrest Salas, her friend 33-year-old Kelsea Story
stepped between them and tried to drag her away. According to the police report, when
the officer told Story to move she continued to push Salas away and put her hand in the
officer’s face.
The officer eventually grabbed Salas and instructed his partner to arrest Story. When
the officer tried to handcuff Story, he said 26-year-old Justin Plumlee grabbed her and
told the police to let her go. Plumlee and the officer engaged in a scuffle and the officer
used his taser to subdue Plumlee.
Salas, Story and Plumee were all arrested. Salas was booked on a complaint of public
drunkenness, while Story and Plumlee were booked for public drunkenness and obstruction.
What you’re saying
about this on...
Danielle G: Was that assault on a police
officer or sexual harassment??? Lmao
Richard B: Arrested for being drunk ...
in a bar at 1:30am. A drunk woman slaps you
on the ass you just wink and move on. Not arrest her, her friend, and break out the tazer.
These cops need to be drug tested and tested
for steroids.
Crystal S: I don’t get it, wld this be considered ‘ass’ault and ‘butt’ery on an officer??
Ahahaha! And I got to tell my corny joke of
the day.
Eddy C: Yeah, you guys are right, I’d rather seen them get on the road and die sliding
under a gas truck. But hey! That’s just me.
That’s why I do not go to bars, They should
have arrested the Bartender, too, for not
cutting them off sooner. Sexual harassment
is not Okay. If this had been from a man on
a woman ALL of these women would have
been singing a different tune. And no, she is
not that pretty.
Tamara M: If it were a woman cop, and a
guy did this, it would be a different story? No.
Chance M: I agree that if a cute girl
slapped my butte id prolly just walk away.
But if the cop was female and the drunk was
male would you all feel the same? Besides
how drunk would you have to be to slap a
cops butte?
Schaun S: Women scream for equality
until its not convenient then they sing a different tune
Stephanie H-W: Oh this is not a big
deal. Throw her in the drunk tank and maybe
rehab. No harm no foul. Lets reserve jail and
taxpayers money for real crime. Please....
Lmao did she hurt his feelings or what. It’s
not right, but not worthy of charges...Jmo
Nathan H: You know thats funny that
yall think he has done this horrible thing.
If he would have flirted with her and maybe
more and she reported him then everyone
would be on here saying cops abuse their authority and he should be locked up. Make up
your minds and just let the cops do their jobs
cause i dont see any of you doing it
Erica D: If drunk would’ve kept her
hands to herself, she would have been fine.
Her “friends” only made things worse if
they would have stayed out of it, she probably would have been let go. Also they do bar
checks for lots of reasons making sure no
one is under age and bar tenders have their
liquor license and so forth. P.s. my man is
an Officer I slap his ass, would I do it while
he is in uniform in public? HELL NO! They
as in officer’s have a hard enough time being respected. I know it doesn’t mean much
to most of you but than again to most all cops
are a**holes until you need one.
Wesley R: Slap an officer on the butt,
and you’re getting within inches of his gun.
(feel free to make use of the easy pun). Hypocrites, don’t pretend to know what it’s like to
be in his position. Just because you would
relish the rare opportunity to be touched by
some sleazy drunk at a bar, doesn’t mean this
particular person would. Stop putting your
standards on others.

MALICIOUS INJURY/
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY
The Grady County District Attorney may seek the death penalty
against six prisoners who reportedly beat a jailed drug dealer to
death in his cell.
Grant Curry, 30, Steven Nidey, 28, Jerry Gonzales, 33, Cody Sitlington, 31, Matthew Jackson, 26, and Joseph Hill, 50, were charged
with first-degree murder June 7 for the death of Anthony Mollman,
an admitted methamphetamine supplier to a motorcycle gang in the
area.
Mollman was a federal inmate in an investigation led by the Drug
Enforcement Agency. He was awaiting sentencing at the time of his
death.
Mollman was given immunity in exchange for his testimony in
front of a grand jury, court records show. A relative said she believes the attack occurred
because he chose to cooperate with federal authorities.
The felons shared a jail pod with Mollman, according to the affidavit. All are federal inmates awaiting prosecution.
The group conducted a planned attack on Mollman for 14 minutes on the evening of May
17 and intended for him to die as a result, police say. Curry, Sitlington and Jackson were the
primary assailants, the affidavit says.
Gonzales reportedly watched the execution-style beating and did not call for help, earning
him a murder charge. Wanting to enjoy his hard work as lookout, he made a fist-pumping
motion to Sitlington after the attack was completed.
Hill has 10 felony and four misdemeanor drug convictions on his record, according to information filed with his murder charge.
Jackson has a long prison history, serving time in the past for charges of second-degree
forgery, false impersonation and knowingly concealing stolen property.
Nidey has previous convictions of possession of controlled substances, assault and battery
with a dangerous weapon and injury to property. Gonzales’ rap sheet includes a first-degree
arson conviction.
Sitlington’s criminal history consists of two felony drug convictions, unauthorized use of a
vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon. Curry has multiple forgery and concealing stolen
property convictions.
All were denied bond at their court appearances June 7. They will appear on the preliminary hearing docket at 1:30 p.m. July 11.

Remember catching fireflies in jars? Taking a nature walk?
Watching a huge thunderstorm roll in? Hearing the bubbling of a
stream you could not see? God’s creation speaks of His majesty and
our hearts learn to sing of His praise.
In an age when a click of a finger can open up hours of media entertainment for our children, it can be tempting to tune out. Pulling
away from the television and taking your children on a walk may
put you behind on housework, but it can prepare them to praise the
Most High!
Take the time to share the joy of nature with your children, and
tell them of His wonders.
Psalm 9:1, 2 NLT
“I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the
marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of
you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.”

An Alex man faces a felony forgery charge
after making unauthorized withdrawals from
another man’s bank account.
Colten Sanders, 31, was arrested June 1 after
Alex police officer Mark Ingram received a report claiming Sanders made three unauthorized withdrawals from April 26 to May 16.
The victim gave Ingram three surveillance
photos from the First National Bank in Chickasha, which show a pickup truck belonging to
Sanders in the drive-thru window, according
to the affidavit.
When Ingram interviewed Sanders, he initially denied any knowledge of the thefts. However, this was futile, as Ingram had the dates,
times and teller names for each fraudulent transaction.
Sanders’ charge alleges he forged withdrawal slips with the victim’s account number and signature in order to steal the money.
Ingram asked Sanders why his pickup was in the drive-thru window at the time of the thefts. Sanders replied, “Because I am stupid.” He then confessed to the withdrawals, the affidavit says.
If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
Sanders has multiple theft convictions on his rap sheet. In 2001,
he stole less than $20 of food from a Sonic on 4th Street in Chickasha. He also pleaded guilty to three second-degree felony forgery
charges in 2006 when he attempted to cash three checks with forged
signatures to a grocery store.
For the felony charges, Sanders was sentenced to five years in prison. He was incarcerated in Lawton from November 2006 to August
2010 and is on probation until October 2016. He also served time
from June 2003 to January 2005 for possession of a firearm while
committing a felony and possession of methamphetamine.
Sanders was released on bond June 1. He will appear in court
June 21 at 11 a.m.

Oklahomans who’ve had their homes
and other property damaged in the latest round of storms need to be cautious
when it comes to hiring someone to
make roofing repairs. Failing to check
out a roofer’s credentials could leave
property owners out thousands of dollars with little or nothing to show for it.
Senator Dan Newberry, Chairman
of the Senate Business and Commerce
Committee, authored the 2010 Roofing Contractor Registration Act to require roofers to register with the Oklahoma Construction Industries
Board (CIB). In the wake of the state’s most recent round of hail
storms, he’s urging citizens to take advantage of this law to avoid
being ripped-off.
“Before contracting with a roofer, you need to make sure they have
a CIB number. This verifies that the roofing company has met the requirements to be licensed for business in Oklahoma, including proof
of liability insurance, workers comp insurance and other qualifications,” said Newberry, R-Tulsa. “You can verify the company’s registration by calling the CIB directly or by going to their website.”
Newberry said fly-by-night roofers often flock to a state after
storms cause extensive property damage. Some of those roofers demand partial or full payment up front, but never complete the work.
He said the Roofing Contractor Registration Act gives consumers a
way to avoid disreputable companies.
“The whole idea is to make it easier to find out who is legitimate
and who isn’t,” Newberry said. “In addition to verifying CIB registration, it’s never a bad idea to check with friends and neighbors about
any recommendations they may have, as well as the Better Business
Bureau. Taking just a little bit of time to ensure you are dealing with
a reputable roofer is well worth the effort.”
To verify if a roofer is registered to do business in Oklahoma, call
the CIB at 405-521-6550, or toll-free at 877-484-4424. You can also
verify registration online at http://cibverify.ok.gov/

A Chickasha man was arrested for public
drunkenness May 27 after interrupting a
police officer’s traffic stop.
Caleb Martin Poor, 31, drank a six-pack
of beer and saw fit to intercede in a traffic
stop on the 1000 block of West Harvey Avenue in Chickasha around 7 p.m. that day.
Poor, seeing his friend pulled over, started
yelling at him, saying, “What the f--- did
you do? I’m gonna whip your a** when
you’re done. I’m beating your a** for getting pulled over.”
Poor was almost a block away when he
yelled, but officer Jeremy Alexander still noted that he was slurring
his words and was unsteady on his feet.
Poor’s friend told him to go away several times, but in his drunken
stupor he ignored good advice. Alexander then exited his police car
and confronted Poor, observing that he had glassy eyes and smelled
strongly of alcohol. Poor admitted to drinking a six-pack of beer, according to the affidavit.
Alexander asked Poor to stop interrupting the traffic stop and said
he would be arrested if he continued. Instead of following the rules,
Poor chose to shout profanities at his friend and Alexander, the affidavit says.
He was then arrested and booked in the Grady County Jail for obstructing an officer and public intoxication.
Poor has a previous criminal history involving second-degree burglary, DUI, possession of marijuana and obstructing an officer, court
records show. He pleaded guilty to all the charges and was sentenced
to the Department of Corrections youthful offender program for the
burglary charge. He received a deferred sentence for the drug and
obstruction charges but was jailed in March for failing to pay fines.
Poor posted a $1,000 bond and was released May 29. He will appear in court at 8:30 a.m. July 13.

Over the past year, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) has collected and disposed more than 6,000
pounds of pharmaceutical drugs from permanent dropoff containers around the state. Since March of 2011,
OBN has placed 118 pharmaceutical take-back containers
in police and sheriff department lobbies for the public to
safely dispose of old, unwanted medications in the home.
OBN Spokesman Mark Woodward says properly disposing of expired medication is critical.
Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman, says the permanent disposal containers allow the public to dispose of old
medication year-round rather than waiting for an official
drug take-back day in their community.
OBN Director Darrell Weaver says the disposal containers are vital for preventing the potential disasters
caused by keeping unnecessary mediations in the home.
Woodward says OBN has a partnership agreement with
Covanta Energy in Tulsa to safely destroy the drugs collected from the disposal containers at
no charge to OBN or the state of Oklahoma. Through their Prescription for Safety Program
(Rx4Safety), Covanta provides the safe disposal of medications collected by drug take-back
programs free of charge to communities nationwide. Rx4Safety was launched in 2010 as a
solution to help communities keep medications out of our nation’s waterways and drinking water, as well as to help with the problem of abuse. To date, Covanta’s program has
destroyed more than 210,000 pounds of unwanted medications at its Energy-from-Waste
facilities nationwide.
When flushed down the drain, or disposed of in landfills, medications find their way into
waterways and contaminate surface waters, having an adverse effect on our drinking water
and the environment. These drugs cannot be removed from water supplies at typical waste
water treatment plants and the contaminated water can then have negative effects on aquatic
organisms, fish, and other wildlife.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics has a list of the drop box locations on its web site at
www.ok.gov/obndd.
