Armed robbery suspect unsuccessfully tries to outrun Tulsa PD’s K9 Hank

TULSA, Okla. – An armed robbery suspect is behind bars today after trying to outrun Tulsa PD’s K9 Officer Hank.

Tulsa police say they responded to a motel off of 27th and Memorial where a robbery suspect, Brenan Wells, was reportedly staying.

TPD set up a containment area in the motel vicinity while waiting for Wells.

Once the suspect left his motel room, he noticed officers and tried to make a run for it.

That’s when K9 Hank stepped in.

K9 Officer Hank was able to outspeed Wells and apprehended him by biting the suspect’s leg.

K9 Hank maintained apprehension of the robbery suspect until officers were able to handcuff him.

Tulsa police say they managed to handcuff the suspect just as Wells was reaching for his pistol attached to his waistband.

The suspect required a hospital visit before being book in the Tulsa County Jail.

Wells is on a federal warrant/hold with the ATF and currently being held without bond.
