Female Oklahoma County Detention officer arrested for possessing digital sexual exploitation of a child content

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Female detention officer, 31-year-old mother, Emma Laura Virginia Yandell, was arrested on December 29, 2021. Due to a complaint of buying, procuring, or possessing material depicting the sexual exploitation of a child. On December 29 at 2 p.m, Oklahoma City Police responded to the Oklahoma County Detention Center where Yandell was employed.

A random search that day revealed that the suspect brought her personal phone inside the jail, which is considered contraband. Her phone was confiscated, and Yandell gave officials permission to search it.

Two videos and a photograph of a juvenile female in the 12 to 14 age range were found on the suspect’s phone. The photograph showed the child in the bathtub completely exposed. The videos showed further sexual exploitation of the child in the picture.

According to the arrest affidavit, Yandell told investigators her juvenile son sent the photograph and videos sometime between January and May of 2021. She stated that she contacted the police when she received the explicit material. She even gave authorities a time, address, and cell phone number used to make the call. However, authorities have found no such proof that a call was made despite all this.

An Oklahoma district attorney has filed one felony count of possessing child pornography. Yandell has since been fired from the detention center and bonded out of jail the same day she was arrested. Records show an initial court date has not been set. (Source: News 9)
