Four face charges in connection with the alleged rape that led to the death of an LSU student

Authorities arrested four men who were seen leaving a bar with a Louisiana State University student.

The four suspects, one a minor, are allegedly involved in the rape of 19-year-old Madison Brooks, ultimately leading to her death after being struck by a vehicle in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

While the minor involved is not named, we know that 18-year-old Casen Carver and 28-year-old Everette Lee face charges of principal to third-degree rape. 18-year-old Kaivon Washington and the unnamed juvenile have been arrested for third-degree rape.

The LSU sophomore drank at Reggie’s, a Tigerland bar, the night of her death. Brooks encountered the four suspects during her night out and left the bar with them.

According to authorities, Brooks had a blood-alcohol level close to four times the legal limit. (The Advocate)

Brooks was seen on surveillance leaving in a car with the four suspects. During the drive, Brooks was allegedly raped in the car. Then, the victim was dropped off at a subdivision, where she was later hit and killed by a vehicle.

According to reports, the suspects turned themselves into authorities; three were booked into the parish prison, and the minor into juvenile detention.

Ron Haley, the attorney representing Lee and Washington, claims that this incident was not rape. While he expressed that it was a tragedy, Haley stated that no crime was committed. (Louisiana Radio Network)
