KNIFE FIGHT LEADS TO MAN CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER

GARDEN CITY, Kan. – A Garden City man was charged with attempted first-degree murder after a violent knife fight.

On July 2nd, Garden City Police Department responded to a report of a fight and were dispatched to the 300 block of College Drive.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 36-year-old man had been beaten and also stabbed. He was taken to St. Catherine Hospital but was later airlifted to Colorado due to the nature of his injuries.

After an investigation, 44-year-old Jemie Mehammed was revealed to be a suspect, taken into custody and booked into the Finney County Jail.

Mehammed’s next hearing date is scheduled for August 28th and he is being held on a $200,000 bond. The Finney County Attorney’s Office will be prosecuting the case.
