LAWTON, Okla. — The incident first started Monday, when a Lawton Police officer performed a routine traffic stop, and the vehicle, which had three people inside, took off.
Sometime during the chase, there was gunfire, and the suspects inside the vehicle were shooting back at the officer. (news9).
Multiple police officers assisted with the car chase and were able to catch up with the suspects at Lake Ellsworth. Where the suspects then tried to flee their vehicle.
One suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while the other two stole another vehicle from a nearby residence. A perimeter was set up, and the last two suspects were found later in the day.
One Lawton police officer was hit by the gunfire from the suspects and was taken to a hospital. The officer was in stable condition and back at home as of Wednesday. (abc7news).
The identities and charges for the suspects have yet to be released.
