ENID, Okla. — A man was arrested after confessing to the killing of a puppy.
Joshua Alexander Henry, 31, was charged with six complaints of animal cruelty on Tuesday, March 1st.
On Saturday, February 26th around 3:30 p.m. Enid Police Department responded to a call to help animal welfare in 3100 block of Forrestridge Drive after a man admitted to killing his puppies.
According to the authorities, the dog’s owner had called the shelter and reported hitting the puppies with a hammer.
The suspect told the officers that he took the puppies outside and gave them food and water before calling the shelter. He declared they seemed to be sick and that he called the police, “fire department, and animal welfare and none of them could do anything.” (Koco) And so he decided “to put them out of their misery”. He also said he did not have money to take puppies to a veterinarian and “that he did not have a firearm to shoot the dogs because he was on probation.” (Koco)
Officers declared that they found five dead puppies and one survivor when they arrived at the scene. They took the sixth puppy to Enid Animal Welfare’s shelter, where it had to be euthanized because of the severity of its injuries.
