TULSA, Okla. – A Tulsa man was arrested by Tulsa Police officers on September 27 at the Trade Winds Central Inn.
The victim was reportedly approached by the suspect while standing next to her hotel room. The suspect asked the victim if she knew where he could get some drugs.
Brandon Herd was dressed in a tropical tank top, a black miniskirt, and what TPD described as black slides.
Upon informing the suspect that she did not have any drugs, Herd allegedly slammed a gun into the victim’s head when she was trying to enter her room. At that point, the suspect reportedly pushed the victim into the room and “committed a rape while holding the victim at gunpoint.” (Tulsa Police Department)
According to investigators, the victim’s elderly friend was present in the room when the crime occurred.
After the suspect allegedly committed rape a second time, he pillaged the room before fleeing in a yellow-toned car.
It was not until the next day that an employee of the hotel noticed the suspect and notified Tulsa police. The Tulsa PD’s helicopter was sent out to the area while law enforcers on the ground spotted Herd at a nearby store and, at that point, speedily apprehended.
Once the suspect was taken into custody, the victim was able to identify him. Investigators found multiple items that belonged to the victim in Herd’s possession.
Herd was arrested for 1st Degree Rape (After Former Conviction of a Felony), Robbery by Force or Fear (After Former Conviction of a Felony), and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
