OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A 4-year-old child was found wandering a Whittaker’s Foods grocery store earlier this week.
OKC police struggled to locate the child’s mother with no missing children reports found for leads.
According to reports, Kristen Grim, 29, was identified as the child’s mother with the help of the 4-year-old. DHS assisted in locating a relative that assisted in contacting Grim.
Grim claimed that she had to use the bathroom and left her two children in the car. She stated that she did not want to wake her children, explaining that they were sick. (News 9) Grim allegedly left her children in the vehicle for more than an hour. Once she returned to her vehicle, she told authorities that she did not check the backseat where her children were.
The mother of the 4-year-old reportedly showed up at Whittaker over an hour after police arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, she was arrested for child neglect. According to News 9 she has a previous DHS referral. The children are currently with family.
