Ottawa County pastor accused of molestation

MIAMI, Okla. – An Ottawa County pastor accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile was physically assaulted by a member of the victim’s family.


Fred Gammon, Jr., 42, of Miami is charged in Ottawa County District Court with child sexual abuse. He is free on $35,000 bail.


“The victim’s family member confronted Gammon and hit Gammon several times,” said Miami Police Chief Thomas Anderson.


Gammon is accused of physically “sexually abusing the juvenile and sending several sexually suggestive and inappropriate text messages.”


According to MSN, “the abuse is alleged to have happened during the time Gammon became the pastor of Wayside Assembly of God church located in Wyandotte. (MSN)

It is unknown if Gammon has stepped down or taken a leave of absence from the church. According to the church’s Facebook page, Gammon has not preached since January. Additionally, the church’s Facebook page has been deactivated, and the listed telephone number for Wayside Assembly of God church is no longer in service.


Gammon has denied the accusations.
