Canadian County Sheriff’s Undercover
Drug Task Force, along with members of the
U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous
Drugs, seized a large quantity of guns, drugs
and stolen property July 30. Five people were
arrested at a residence in the 9600 block of
Peggy Lane, just south of the Mustang.
As the result of the high-risk search warrant, Harold Thompson Jones, 44, of Oklahoma City, Steven Murry Lampson, 43, of Yukon
and Taylor Monique Fife, 30, of Oklahoma
City were arrested on charges of Trafficking
in Methamphetamine, a Convicted Felon in
Possession of a Firearm, Concealing Proceeds
from the sale of Illegal Drugs, Possession of
Marijuana and Possession of Stolen Property.
Also arrested was Jillianne Burdine, 30, of
Mustang for the unauthorized use of a motor
vehicle and Ricky Record, 51, of Oklahoma
City for being wanted on charges of concealing stolen property.
A shotgun, two rifles, four pistols, 88 grams
of crystal methamphetamine worth nearly
$7,500, and $2,350 in cash, as well as numerous pieces of stolen property were confiscated
by deputies.
Reports say tips from the public about the
activity led to the arrests. Sheriff Randall Edwards was told Lampson had stacks of currency in his bedroom and a large amount of
methamphetamine in quarter ounce baggies,
two pounds of marijuana and several white baggies each containing
approximately 20 white pills.

A ceremonial signing
held June 22nd recognizes
the passage of an important new law that will allow
Oklahomans to obtain lifetime victim protective orders, according to the bill’s
author, state Rep. Wade
Rousselot (D-Okay).
House Bill 2396, authored by Rousselot, extends the time in which a
victim protective order remains in effect from three
to five years and allows for
a continuous victim protective order under certain conditions.
“Oklahoma, along with the rest of the nation is plagued with
domestic violence,” said Rousselot. “The victims of this mental
and physical abuse are usually, but not always, women. When
a victim fears for their safety because of escalating threats or
even instances of violent behavior, they seek a form of protection, just as any of us would. A protective order sets boundaries between the victim and their tormentor. If violated, the
tormentor goes to prison.”
Rousselot said in order to renew a protective order, a victim
has to face their tormentor in court. Extending the length of
time in which the order remains in effect and allowing for a
continuous protective order in certain cases, places less of a
burden on the victim, he said.
“The continuous protective order ensures the victims who
have the most egregious tormentors do not have to face them
every five years in court in order to renew the order,” said
Rousselot.

A Canadian County Judge has declared that Joshua Durcho,
the El Reno man accused of murdering his girlfriend, Summer
Rust, and her four children in 2009, is not mentally retarded
and prosecutors can seek the death penalty as punishment if
he is convicted.
According to an order filed in Canadian County District
Court, a hearing for Durcho was held in June and July to determine whether he was mentally retarded. His lawyers had to
prove to the Court that he met the statutory definition of mental retardation.
The first criteria is an intelligence quotient of 70 or below.
The second criteria is there must be significant limitations on
adaptive functioning with significant limitations on two or
more of the following adaptive skill areas: communication,
self-care, home living, social skills, community use, self-direction, health, safety, functional
academics, leisure skills and work skills.
The third criteria is the onset of mental retardation must have been evident before Durcho
reached the age of 18 years.
The Court heard from a number of physician experts addressing some or all of the criteria.
A scientifically recognized standard intelligence quotient test was administered on Durcho
by two licensed psychologists. The test results were both an I.Q. of 72.
The Court heard a lot of testimony concerning the other two criteria. Testimony concerning
significant limitations and adaptive functioning was extensive by experts by both Durcho’s
lawyers, as well as the State.
The testimony appeared to boil down to two options. One, that any significant limitations
was a result of Durcho being learning disabled, or that he was mentally retarded.
All testing administered by the school system indicated that Durcho was learning disabled
in school, but he was never diagnosed with mental retardation.
The Court found Durcho’s lawyers did not satisfy his burden of proof in establishing
sufficient limitations on adaptive functioning or the fact that mental retardation manifest itself before he reached 18 years-old. Therefore, the Court found Durcho was not
mentally retarded.
Judge declares Durcho
not mentally retarded

death row
Michael Hooper
The Oklahoma Court of
Criminal Appeals set Aug.
14 as the execution date for
Canadian County death row
inmate Michael Edward
Hooper, 39.
Hooper was convicted and
sentenced to death for the
murder of his ex-girlfriend,
Cynthia Lynn Jarman, 23,
and her two children, Tonya
Kay Jarman, 5, and Timmy
Glen Jarman, 3, on Dec.
7, 1993. Hooper shot each
victim in the head twice and
buried their bodies in a shallow grave in a secluded fi eld.
The victims had been missing for several days before
being discovered.
The truck that Cynthia had been driving also was
found abandoned and burned. Police records, including
domestic violence reports, show that Hooper and Jarman
had previously been in a physically violent relationship.
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Hooper’s
convictions in 2002, but overturned his death sentences.
Hooper claimed his legal counsel made mistakes during
the second stage of his trial. In a 2004 hearing, Hooper
was once again sentenced to death.
Attorney General Scott Pruitt requested the execution
date on June 4, after the United States Supreme Court
denied the inmate’s fi nal appeal.

By John Borgstedt
The criminally incarcerated … where did they come from?
What led to their downfall? Many counselors have traced this
criminal cycle to decades of abuse in the homes they were raised.
At some point, having unbearable memories of pain, the victims began to self-medicate - turning to alcohol or marijuana -
discovering the temporary relief becoming weaker and weaker,
leading to the use of stronger drugs. A slack in their job performance normally followed, getting them fired.
But a drug user needs money to maintain his/her chemical addictions and lifestyle. The user may resort to robbery or more serious crimes, wanting to stop but can’t. And until he/she reaches
a point of dealing with their past abuse, they will never be able
to quit and find ‘change’. Both counseling and ‘forgiveness’ is a must in starting a new and healthy
cycle for their life.
It was many years before I could reach that point of ‘forgiveness’ regarding my own abusers. Even
when seeking answers, I didn’t fully understand what it would take to find counsel and healing, until
writing my first book, ‘I Love You, Mom … Please Don’t Break My Heart’.
“Seconds later, she opened the door and jerked me out of the car, threw me onto the ground like
a piece of trash, and pulled something from her pocket. Even though I knew something terrible
was happening, I did not move a muscle. She would really get angry if I moved! Without saying one
word, she slid a plastic bag over my head, covering my face. For a split second, my mind went numb.
I gasped for breath as her arm pressed tighter and tighter against the plastic bag covering my nose
and mouth. Suddenly the probability of death overpowered all fear of a beating. For the first time in
my life, panic replaced all dread of violence and pain. Gasping and choking, my fingers clawed at the
bag. My mom grabbed at my hands as she struggled to keep the plastic over my nose and mouth. My
weak, undernourished body was no match against my tall, powerful, and very determined mother.
Fighting for breath within the tomb of plastic, I felt her grip tighten even more against my face.”
There are people who think they have been down the darkest road in life with no possible chance
of change, but I have been down that road, too, and if I could turn it around and not only change my
life, but learn how to help others - becoming one of the country’s foremost child advocates – you can
do it, too.
John Borgstedt is a motivational speaker and author of the book “I Love You Mom... Please Don’t
Break My Heart” He can be reached at [email protected] or visit his website at www.ILoveYouMom.net

Agents Arrest Weatherford Man
for Lewd Proposals to Child
Members of the OSBI Internet Crimes
Against Children Unit and officers from the
Weatherford Police Department arrested
William Cantrell, 22, on July 11 at the WalMart located at 1249 Eagle Road in Weatherford.
Agents posing as children between the
ages of 9 and 13 communicated via computer.
Cantrell told the undercover agents he
wanted them to send him nude pictures of
themselves, to perform sex acts on themselves, and to meet him for sex. Cantrell and the undercover agents
set a meeting at a dressing room at Wal-Mart where Cantrell was
employed. Cantrell believed he was meeting one of the underage females.
When Cantrell arrived for the meeting, OSBI agents and Weatherford officers arrested him on five counts of lewd or indecent proposals to a child under 16 and two counts of violation of the Oklahoma
computer crimes act. Cantrell was booked into the Weatherford City
Jail.
Agents continue to investigate.

Summer time can be a time of
fun, whether its at the lake, pool,
or any of the numerous other
activities to be found throughout this great state, but it is also
a time of serious heat. With temperatures reaching into the
100’s many times already, and more to come, I thought I would
touch on the way heat can affect your traveling plans, and some
tips to help you beat the heat!
First, be prepared. Cars suffer in the heat just like we do. If
and when they break down, you’ll want to be ready. Be familiar
with your emergency equipment in your vehicle. This means
learn where your jack, spare tire, and tire tool are. Learn how
to use them. Figuring that out on the side of the road at 102
degrees is no fun at all. The owner’s manual of your vehicle
has a section on roadside emergencies that can help you figure
out where the emergency equipment is stored, and tips on
how to use it. Learn the steps to change a flat! Although we
will be happy to help you if you are broken down, we aren’t
always close, and may not be able to get to you for a long period
of time. If you know how to get yourself out of a roadside
emergency, that’s less time you’ll spend in the heat.
Take lots of water with you if you are going on a trip, especially
if it’s a long one. Have a cell phone with you so you can call
for help if you need it. Be aware of your surroundings when
driving, so you can give the person you call for help an accurate
location for where you are. Also, if you can get your car to a
place of shade, do so. Temperatures can be up to 20 degrees
cooler in a place of shade such as an overpass or large trees.
Lastly, make sure your car is maintained properly. Ever
notice how many pieces of tires you see on the roadway during
the summer? The heat is hard on tires, so make sure they are
properly inflated and have good tread. If your tread is worn,
get them replaced! The pavement those tires are rolling on is
even hotter than the thermometer is showing! Visually check
your belts, and make sure all your fluids are filled up. That
ounce of prevention can keep you from being stuck on the side
of the road in 100 plus temperatures.
Preparing for roadside emergencies in the heat is just as
important as it is in the winter, but it seems like we just don’t
prepare the same for it. Just a few minutes of learning how to
change a flat, packing in a case of water, and being aware of
your surroundings can keep a bad day from being a whole lot
worse! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Each year as the kids
get out of school for
summer, neighborhoods
tend to see a rise in crime.
From petty theft to
breaking and entering,
oftentimes, boredom
wins out and children
tend to misbehave.
This summer, take
neccessary precaustions
to ensure you and your home are not victims of random crimes.
Here are a few steps you can take to help prevent crime in your
area.
Do not leave valuables in plain sight or in the open
Lock all doors and windows in home and autos
Do not park your automobile in the street as it makes it
more accessible for theft
Make your home look lived in. This can be making sure lawn
is mowed, lights come on and off, etc. A vacant home is a prime
target for crime
Install locks on all gates and entryways
If you are traveling cancel any paper subscriptions, hold
mail, etc so would-be thief will not assume a vacant home.
Know your neighbor. If you know your neighbors, you will
have extra eyes to watch any strange happenings in your area
Light up your property. Install motion sensor lights.
If you have security system, use it! Be sure to update your
contacts.
If you are planning an extended vacation, be sure to notify
police and neighbors.
Keep your home
safe this summer

Registered Sex Offenders for the area.
FACT:
Offenders could stop their sexually
violent behavior on their own if
they wanted to.
False. Wanting to change is usually
not enough to be able to change the
patterns that lead to sexual offenses. To
create the motivation to change, some
offenders need a variety of treatment
and corrective interventions, and for
others learning how to make the
change in their own behavioral cycle of
abuse is more effective.

DRINKING AFTER 7 WILL GET YOU BEAT
An Oklahoma City mother has been charged with
child abuse after she “whooped” her 3-year-old
daughter for opening the refrigerator after 7 p.m., investigators said. An arrest warrant is expected to be
issued for Nortesha Harmon, 28, of Oklahoma City.
On July 4, Harmon was dropping off her 3-yearold daughter when she told the child’s father that
she had whooped their daughter with an extension
cord for getting a drink after 7 p.m., court documents
revealed. On July 11, investigators interviewed the
child and noticed bruises on her face and body, investigators said.
The child’s father told investigators that he and the child’s mother did not
have a legal custody agreement, but he allowed her, the mother, to see the
child whenever she wanted, according to court document. The child was
treated at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.
What you’re saying
about this on...
Tyler A: sounds like the father’s picture
should be up here too for letting someone
like this care for a child.
Melissa A: wat a shame
LeAnna B: wow.. stuff like this breaks my
heart... SHE IS A BABY.....
Wendy O: omg people make me sick...
Vanessa S: sad! poor baby
B.gaylene H: Beat the hell out of the
mother
Traci S: Someone should beat this (woman) in the face with an extension cord.. Over
and over. Poor baby.
Stacie R: Stupid (woman)!!! She needs
her a** beat with an extension cord!!!
Paula G: You don’t beat a kid with an extension cord.......not at any age, not for any
reason!
Cheryl H: WHY WASNT SHE WATCHING HER 3 YR OLD ANYWAY!!!!!!!! GIVE
ME AN EXTENSION CORD AND I WILL
PLAY MOMMY DEAREST WITH HER!!!!!
April R: Someone needs to beat this thing
with a few dozen cords all over her body. She
shouldn’t be allowed anything to drink for 7
days at the least & only then just a sip then
no more for another 7 days etc for 7 years.
What the hell is wrong with people now days.
I would never deny anything to drink to my
children. They are allowed water anytime
they want/need but they know that other
drinks like juice & kook aid is off limits after
8 but if one sneaks & gets some then big deal
I sure the heck am not going to physically
punish them for it. Geez
D Ariana H: Its sad how many cases are
out there like this, and how many people
out there who dont deserve children, have
them:( Poor babygirl
Robyn M: How stupid could she be?
Marlene D: Some body should whip her
with an extension cord for being so stupid.
Jonathan N Jessica: Bring the electric
chair back.for.people like her, geez do not.
cut her no slack hate people like this!!!
Patty K: Why is she allowed to have this
child. What does do after 7pm when she is
thirsty. Whipping the child with an extension
cord the mother should whipped with one.
Rosie P: This (woman) looks healthy as
hell. Super glue her lips together but leave
a slit on one side just big enuf for a coffee
straw full of everclear. ( once a day ). Start
at her neck and wrk down with a tazer every
30 mins.
Vincent R: A 3 year old child really a 3
year old don’t know better cuz it a child don’t
mean u gotta beat the sh** out Of em she so
stupit
CharlieandStaci: what could possibly
make this woman so sick to beat her child?
Poor child. My heart cries for the child.
Prayers... Hope justice is served!
Tricia M: maybe they should tell her go
outside for awhile but you cant have water
after 5pm! LOL

A Sentinel man was taken into custody July 14
after he led police on a high-speed chase around
Elk City.
Jason Juarez, 30, was charged July 17 with eluding a police officer, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, DUI, driving with license cancelled/suspended/revoked, resisting an officer,
and failure to carry security verification in Beckham County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, Trooper C.
Hunter was patrolling south bound on State Highway 34 just after
midnight when he approached the intersection of Business 40 on the
east edge of Elk City. He then saw a red Chevrolet pick-up traveling
north from the Interstate 40 off-ramp approaching the Business 40 Intersection. As Hunter was watching the pickup, he noticed it abruptly
swerve to the left, crossing the center line before reaching the intersection. The pickup continued north through the intersection and pulled
into the north side of the LaQuinta parking lot and stopped.
Hunter pulled into the La Quinta parking lot to initiate a traffic stop,
but the driver, later identified as Juarez, pulled out of the parking lot
without yielding and accelerated rapidly across State Highway 34 and
into the Loves Parking lot. Hunter activated the emergency lights and
siren on his patrol car and the chase was on.
Hunter and another trooper, Daniel Splawn, chased Juarez through
the Country Palace parking lot, onto Business 40, and toward Interstate 40, eventually catching up to Juarez. Because of the dangerous
situation, he performed a TIV maneuver and Juarez’ pickup spun into
the north bound lane.
The chase didn’t end there, but he was eventually caught after Hunter performed another TIV move and a short foot chase. When he tried
to escape, Splawn had to place Juarez in a neck restraint to gain control and place him in handcuffs. While Splawn was searching Juarez,
he discovered a small baggy of marijuana in his right front pocket.
Hunter transported Juarez to the Beckham County Jail.
Catch me if you can
(they did)!

Jacole Prince, a 29-year-old Missouri woman was jailed Friday after she allegedly
starved her daughter nearly to death - forcing her to live in a urine and feces soaked
closet
According to police, officers were dispatched to Prince’s apartment complex after
receiving a report that a little girl was being forced to live in a closet.
When officers arrived at the residence, two neighbors informed them that Prince
left her apartment a short time earlier with her “two daughters.” The two neighbors
did not realize that Prince had three daughters, because they had never seen her
eldest 10-year-old daughter.
After performing a forced entry into the apartment, officers followed a strong
odor of urine and feces to a small utility closet that was barely large enough to hold
the hot water heater inside.
The closet door had been tied shut, and a portable baby crib had been pushed
against the door to keep it closed.
When officers asked if anyone was inside the closet, the little girl locked inside answered “yes.”
Investigators say police discovered a 10-year-old girl inside who was standing in a puddle of her own feces
and urine. The girl was severely malnourished, weighting just 32 pounds.
Detectives are not sure how long the victim had been confined to the closet, but neighbors did not know
about the girl during the five-year period they had been acquainted with Prince.
Prince has two additional daughters that are 3 and 8 years old. She admitted to detectives that she locked
her daughter in the closet because she was embarrassed over how the child looked and was afraid that child
protective services would be called.
The victim was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment in what will be a very long recovery process, according to experts.
Prince was booked into the Jackson County Jail and charged with felony counts of assault, child abuse and
endangering the welfare of a child. Prince’s bond has been set at $200,000.

A 30 year-old Watonga man
was charged August 8 with malicious injury to property after
he threw a fit at his parent’s
house because they wouldn’t
give him what he wanted.
According to the police affidavit, Dathyn Eaton was at
his mom and dad’s home in
Watonga wanting money to go
to the doctor. When Eaton’s
dad told him he was not going
to give him any money, Eaton
picked up a table that was on
the front porch and threw it at
the front window, causing the window and table to break.
Eaton is no stranger to the Blaine County Court system because
of his temper. In 2005, he was charged with domestic assault and
battery, but the charges were dismissed after he completed domestic
abuse prevention counseling. He was charged in 2011 for tampering
with utilities and conspiring to commit a misdemeanor.

Answer: “I’m basically
a good person, so I’ll go to
heaven.” “OK, so I do some
bad things, but I do more
good things, so I’ll go to
heaven.” “God won’t send
me to hell just because
I don’t live by the Bible.
Times have changed!” “Only
really bad people like child
molesters and murderers go
to hell.”
These are all common rationalizations, but the truth is that
they are all lies. Satan, the ruler of the world, plants these
thoughts in our heads. He, and anyone who follows his ways,
is an enemy of God (1Peter 5:8). Satan is a deceiver and often
disguises himself as someone good (2 Corinthians 11:14), but
he has control over all the minds that do not belong to God.
It is a lie to believe that God doesn’t care about small sins or
that hell is reserved for “bad people.” All sin separates us from
God, even a “little white lie.” Everyone has sinned, and no one
is good enough to get to heaven on their own (Romans 3:23).
Getting into heaven is not based on whether our good outweighs our bad; we will all lose out if that is the case. “And if
by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would
no longer be grace” (Romans 11:6). We can do nothing good
to earn our way to heaven (Titus 3:5).
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and
broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter
through it” (Matthew 7:13). Even if everyone else is living a
life of sin in a culture where trusting in God is not popular,
God will not excuse it. As sinners, we couldn’t reconcile ourselves to God on our own. So God made a way that we could
be united with Him in heaven. “For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in
him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Most people believe in God, even Satan does. But to receive
salvation, we must turn to God, form a personal relationship,
turn away from our sins, and follow Him. We must trust in
Jesus with everything we have and everything we do. “This
righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ
to all who believe. There is no difference” (Romans 3:22).
The Bible teaches that there is no other way to salvation than
through Christ. Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
Jesus is the only way of salvation because He is the only One
who can pay our sin penalty (Romans 6:23). No other religion
teaches the depth or seriousness of sin and its consequences.
No other religion offers the infinite payment of sin that only
Jesus Christ could provide. No other “religious founder” was
God become man (John 1:1,14) – the only way an infinite debt
could be paid. Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our
debt. Jesus had to be man so He could die. Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ! “Salvation is found in
no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to
men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
The Bible says
Question: Is Jesus the
only way to Heaven?

On July 12, Agents from the OSBI Internet Crimes Against
Children Unit and Child Abuse Response Team arrested
Theodore Kevin Booker, 40, for multiple sex crimes.
Booker was arrested at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma
City where he worked as a cook.
The case was initiated in response to a complaint from the
victim’s family and a request for assistance from the Warr Acres
Police Department.
A family member reported a minor female was talking with
Booker on Facebook and cell phone text messaging, when she
sent him nude pictures of herself. Several computer related
items and cell phones were seized and forensically examined by
the OSBI Computer Crimes Unit agents.
Booker was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of Violation of
the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, Possession of Child Pornography, Rape II,
Forcible Oral Sodomy, Solicitation of a Minor, and Violation of the Oklahoma Alcoholic
Beverages Act.
Bond was set at $263,000.
