Department is currently
investigating a theft,
which took place at WalMart located at 2400
S. Country Club Rd. on
July 10 at approximately
01:45 a.m.
The suspect stole two
40” Sony Bravia HD TVs.
The suspect appears to be a heavy set white male, wearing a black
polo style shirt, jean shorts, and black and green athletic shoes. The
suspect exited through the back of the store in a dark colored (possibly black) car (possibly a Dodge Charger).

As Lee Solarski was tooling along one day,
he crashed his car into both a mailbox and
a pickup truck, as one does. Being a responsible citizen, he immediately drove away, not
realizing that a witness had written down
his license plate number. When the police
tracked him down, Solarski explained that
he’d crashed because his passenger had a
tarantula in the car with them. The tarantula had gotten loose and was biting Solarski,
causing him to lose control of the car during
the attack. To his credit, we admit a rampaging tarantula would be enough of a reason to
crash anything. The police searched the car
but didn’t find the offending spider, which
we figure came as a relief to whichever officer
drew search-the-car-for-a-secret-tarantula
duty. After a similarly thorough search of Solarski failed to produce any spider bites, he
was arrested.

Within a week in mid-July, Custer County deputies and a canine officer busted two people trafficking drugs through the county.
On July 19, Deputy Marcus Williams, who had only been on the job
four days, and Deputy Brady Quisenberry spotted a Toyota pickup make
an improper lane change on I-40. When they made the traffic stop,
Williams smelled what he believed to be marijuana and found a small
amount of marijuana on the driver, Justin Fritz, 36, of Bakersfield, CA.
He also found a crack pipe and a small amount of meth.
When the deputies searched Fritz’ vehicle, they found 11.82 pounds of
crystal meth inside a bag of clothes.
The meth was estimated to be worth about $500,000.
On July 23, just four days later, Deputy Dillon Mach, with his K9
partner "Ares", seize 14.84 pounds of crystal meth from a traffic stop at
around 2:30 a.m. on I-40.
Mach believed the driver, Constance Lee Potts, 59, of Tulsa, was not
telling him the whole truth during the stop and asked to search her car.
She declined, so Mach brought out his canine partner “Ares”, and performed a free air sniff. Ares alerted the deputy to presence of drugs.
Mach found a sack in the trunk that contained the meth.
Deputy Mach and "Ares" were certified as a detection team the week before.

An Elk City man found disoriented in
his vehicle on July 17 admitted to huffing a can of Ultra Duster while driving
with his kids in the car.
The man was John Joseph Walbert,
25.
According to the affidavit, an Elk City
police officer was contacted about a possible intoxicated driver traveling east on
Third Street. According to the caller,
Walbert had driven over a curb, almost
ran into a parked car and cut off traffic.
The officer found Walbert sitting in a
parking lot in the 1900 block of W. Third
Street. His vehicle was at a complete stop and the brake lights were
illuminated. Walbert appeared to be very confused and disoriented.
He was also sweating profusely and had bloodshot glassy eyes.
Two children were sitting in car seats in the backseat of his vehicle.
The officer asked Walbert to exit the vehicle for sobriety tests.
When Walbert stumbled out of his vehicle, the officer saw a can of
Ultra Duster under the driver seat. The can was cold to the touch and
had condensation, suggesting it had recently been used.
The officer asked Walbert if he had been drinking. He said no. He
then asked Walbert if he had been huffing the can, and Walbert told
him, “Yes, but I have never done it driving before.”
He said that he took a hit of the Ultra Duster as he drove through
the intersection of Third and Pioneer. He then told the officer, “I have
never passed out doing it while driving.”
The officer placed him under arrest and took him to jail.
Walbert is being charged with two counts of child endangerment
by driving under the influence and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He is being held in lieu of a $50,000
bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 23, 2014.

Tulsa Police say serial rape suspect Desmond
Campbell is dead
Campbell had been in intensive care since being
badly hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 44
early on the morning of Sunday, June 29, 2014.
The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office had
called a news conference about the case for 2 p.m.
July 8, but that was before news of Campbell’s death
broke.
Documents released detailed the evidence Tulsa
Police had against Campbell.
The documents also contained details of the attacks which the victims gave police.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Campbell wrecked a car just
before 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Troopers said he hit a large sign
post near Sheridan and listed the possible cause as sleepiness. The wreck
happened just minutes after the last sexual assault police have attributed to
Campbell.

The FBI is searching for a man who robbed the
Bank of Western Oklahoma at 101 W. Main St. in
Geary last month.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on July 10, an unidentified male entered the bank and verbally demanded money from a teller. The subject implied
that he had a gun; however, no weapon was seen.
The teller complied with the demand, and the subject left the bank with an undisclosed amount of
money in a yellow plastic bag.
The subject was last seen leaving the bank on foot
heading northbound on Main St. No one was injured in this robbery.
Witness descriptions depict the subject as follows:
Subject: White male, brown hair, clean shaven, mid-20s, 5’6” tall, 135 pounds, wearing a
red and white OU baseball cap, sunglasses, light colored T-shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a
yellow plastic bag.
This robbery is being investigated by the FBI and the Geary Police Department. Anyone
with information is requested to contact the FBI at (405) 290-7770 (24-hour number). Callers may remain anonymous. The Oklahoma Bankers Association offers a reward of up to
$2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for robbing a member bank.

District Attorney Craig Ladd requested OSBI open a full
investigation into the disappearance and possible homicides
of Molly Miller and Colt Haynes in south central Oklahoma. A
friend last heard from them via phone July 8, 2013. July 25, 2013,
the Wilson Police Chief requested OSBI technical assistance and
analytic case support. OSBI has helped run dozens of leads in the
past 12 months as have numerous other municipal, county, state,
and federal law enforcement agencies. Leads recently surfaced
that could prove helpful in this case. OSBI agents and various
other law enforcement offi cers are currently running those
leads. Because this is an open criminal investigation, no specifi c
details on this case can be released at this point. Miller was 17 at
the time of her disappearance; Haynes was 21.

At approximately 10:30 on June 29,
former Cordell resident Ronnie Denny
Jr., 35, was arrested in Princeton, Texas, for first degree murder. OSBI agents
have been working the murder case for
numerous years.
Because the arrest warrant is based
upon a sealed indictment, OSBI cannot release any information at this time
about the case. That indictment will be
unsealed once Denny is extradited back
to Washita County.
Denny is accused of murdering his exgirlfriend, Melissa Flores, 27, in 2007.
He is the father of her youngest child.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Task
Force, Texas Rangers, Princeton Police, and McKinney Police arrested Denny at his home located at 155
Prairie Creek Circle in Princeton. OSBI agents then interviewed him
at the Princeton Police Department. He was later booked in to the
Collin County Jail in McKinney. The extradition process will begin
very soon.
