Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty 5 | DECEMBER 2021 CANADIAN COUNTY
GUILTY
A 34-year-old Moore woman accused of
killing four people after she drove into their
vehicle head-on last year pleaded guilty to the
charges of manslaughter on November 16.
Sentencing for Ashley Louise Ricks is
scheduled for January 5.
Reports state that Ricks was driving a 2017
Jeep Renegade on November 17, 2020, the
day she was arrested. She was under the
influence of alcohol at the time of the collision and was traveling east in the westbound
lanes of I-40 “at excessive speeds” when she
collided with another vehicle.
The vehicle she hit had four occupantstwo of them were children.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report states that Ricks’s vehicle flew into
a ditch and overturned. The other vehicle went into the center median and
burst into flames, trapping the occupants inside. All four occupants died in
the crash.
Before the fatal crash occurred, witnesses had called 911 to report that the
vehicle was speeding and driving on the wrong side of the highway.
Ricks is also facing an auto negligence lawsuit after the father of the children killed in the crash claimed “wrongful death and loss of parental consortium.” The lawsuit was filed April 8 in Canadian County.
Ricks pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree manslaughter. She is
scheduled to be sentenced on January 5, 2022.

AMERICA’S DEADLIEST SHOOTINGS
ARE ONES WE DON’T TALK ABOUT
On any given day in America, an average of 63 of our mothers,
brothers, partners, and friends are taken from us by gun suicide.
But tomorrow’s deaths could be prevented. Give your loved ones
a second chance at life. Store your guns safely: locked, unloaded,
and away from ammo.
Marine veteran single-handedly disarms robber at gas station in Arizona
YUMA, Az. -- A Marine veteran took
matters into his own hands when he
disarmed a robber at a gas station in
Arizona.
Dramatic surveillance video released
by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Department shows the man standing inside
the store near the checkout counter
when two masked robbers come through the entrance behind him.
One of the suspects was armed and came in close contact with the man.
The video then shows the man instantly disarm the suspect, knocking him
to the ground.
The sheriff’s office said the veteran helped detain him until deputies arrived to the scene. Two other suspects got away and remain on the run.
When deputies asked the customer how he was able to take control of
the situation, investigators said he responded saying, “The Marine Corps
taught me not to [mess] around.”

BATHROOM BREAK
A 38-year-old Weatherford man is facing
peeping tom charges after he allegedly hid a
camera in a restroom in November.
According to reports, some workers discovered a small camera pointed directly at
the toilet in the restroom of their business.
Thomas police were dispatched to the business on November 11 to investigate the camera, which was hidden under the sink.
An officer spoke to each employee of the
business about the incident.
One of the employees said she noticed that
Carson Grady Guthrie had been acting suspiciously a couple of days earlier. She said that
he took pictures of another female employee
without her knowledge or consent.
The employee also said that when she went into the bathroom, she found
Guthrie on his knees with the lights off.
The employee told police that she thought that was weird, so she started
to investigate why the man was on his knees – that’s when she found the
camera.
Officers spoke to Guthrie about the allegations. He allegedly admitted to
putting the camera under the sink. He said he destroyed the memory card
that went to the camera because he thought there might be evidence on it.
Officers placed the man under arrest and transported him to jail.
Guthrie is being charged with peeping tom with photographic/electronic
equipment. He was released on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear
in court on December 17, 2021.

14 | DECEMBER 2021 WASHITA COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
LIVING DANGEROUSLY
A Weatherford man reached speeds in
excess of 115 miles per hour while trying to
escape from police on the evening of November 9. He also had his 4-year-old son in his
vehicle at the time of the pursuit.
According to reports, a Washita County
deputy saw a vehicle speeding on State
Highway 54. When the deputy caught up to
the vehicle traveling east on State Highway
54B west of Colony, the driver sped up to
over 100 miles per hour. The pursuit continued through Colony.
The driver, later identified as Curtis Ray
Dudgeon, drove 90 mph through a posted
35 mph zone.
At some point, Dudgeon turned onto a country road and drove over 115
mph. He also had his headlights turned off.
Dudgeon eventually stopped his vehicle in a private driveway and peacefully
turned himself over to police.
Officers asked the man if anyone else was in the vehicle. He advised that
his 4-year-old son was in the backseat in a car seat. Another adult male was
also in the vehicle.
Dudgeon is being charged with child neglect and eluding/attempting to
elude a police officer. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on January 18, 2022.
