Bomb Threat results in Arrest
On Tuesday January 30, 2018 at 1:17 p.m.,
the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a bomb threat that was called into the
County Administration office building. The suspect later identified as Brian Thomas Doro, a
27 year old male, called the County’s administrative offices, where the call was taken by
a receptionist. The caller told the receptionist
that if all the inmates in the county jail weren’t
released within 10 hours, he would blow up
the county government complex. The caller
also said he had planted bombs in the ground
around the buildings.
Sheriff’s deputies and El Reno Police Officers
both responded, and set up a perimeter, and
evacuated personnel from multiple county buildings. The Sheriff’s Office
contacted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), and requested they send
their Bomb Squad. Sheriff’s Investigators were also assigned to the case.
Once on the scene, the OHP bomb squad took several hours to methodically sweep the county complex, using Bomb Detector Dogs, Bomb
Technicians and a Bomb Robot. After Troopers pronounced the scene to
be clear and safe, the complex was turned back over to County officials.
“Everybody worked well together in securing the area, and making sure
life safety was the primary concern for the employees and citizens who
were in the buildings,” said Chris West, Canadian County Sheriff.
“Sheriff’s Deputies, El Reno Police Officers, and State Troopers all
worked hand and hand to protect citizens,” said West.
Through a simple review of incoming calls to the county, Sheriff’s investigators were able to quickly narrow down a list of possible suspects, and
then quickly narrowed it down to a cell phone. Investigators contacted the
owner of the cell phone and learned it had been loaned to a friend, identified as Brian Thomas Doro.
Canadian County Sheriff’s investigators tracked down and arrested Doro
at his residence in Oklahoma City the next day around 12 noon, and less
than 24 hours after he called in the bomb threat.
Doro told investigators he made the threat because his girlfriend had
court regarding custody of her children. He said she could not afford an
attorney for the civil case, and he thought he could buy her some time
by making the bomb threat. Doro said he knew her court time was at
1:30 p.m. so he wanted to make the threat in order to get her court date
changed.
“Doro was selfish in making this type of threat to instill fear and panic in
Canadian County. Because he thought he was being a good boyfriend in
making this threat. Because of his actions, he now faces a lengthy prison
sentence,” said Chris West.
Doro was taken into custody, and transported to the Canadian County
Jail where he was booked on one count of Making a Threat by Explosive
Means. Doro remains in custody with his bond established at $50,000. If
convicted Doro faces three to ten years in prison.

Live life with passion
By Christian Ryan
Life is a never-ending battle. We win
some – we lose some. What defines
“winning”, or as we call it, “success”,
may change from person to person.
I define success by living with passion. In my life, passion has helped me
drive past conflicted times that should
have held me back and hindered my
success. Coming from a broken home
with no father and eventually no mother
(for a period of time), I could have fallen
to drugs or crime, but I had a burning
passion to make something positive of
my life.
My first actions towards my passion started with fitness. I started
lifting weights the summer before going into the 7th grade. Then,
Coach [Jay] Moore convinced me to give football a chance. That
was the start of my career as an athlete.
Since then I’ve been successful in football and powerlifting. I ran
track but more for team support. It’s not exactly one of my strongest
talents.
In powerlifting I achieved junior state placer and state champion
for 8th and 9th grade. Now, I’m a varsity state placer and state
champion. I’m going into the second semester of my senior year
and I’m planning to become two-time state champion, if it’s in
God’s plan for me.
I live my life passionately. I choose not to be normal. It is a choice
that requires strong self-discipline. I want to change the world for
the better. I don’t want just breathe, work, and die. I want to see the
world and change people’s lives.
This keeps me motivated to get through the hard times because
I know that seasons change and there is a light at the end of every
tunnel. I believe passion is essential for a happy human life.
Without God I would be nothing. Ever since I gave my life to Him
and surrendered, He has used my passion for His will. I want to start
a youth ministry and help teens that are in my shoes - going through
High School confused and afraid and show them there is so much
more to life than what appears to be in front of them.
Passion can be positive or negative. Without the right direction
passion can take you down the wrong path. Healthy passion is
something that helps us grow and can help shape us into great
leaders. Hitler was a passionate man, but he was passionate for the
wrong reasons and murdered almost the entire Jewish population.
Obviously, this is an example of misdirected passion.
Be careful that your passions are productive and positive. As you
pursue your dreams make sure what you are doing will change others lives and maybe even the world for the better.
About the author:
Christian Ryan is a senior at Cushing High School. He moved to Cushing from North Carolina when he was seven years old. Shortly thereafter,
his mother was diagnosed with cancer and became involved in drugs and
later spent time in jail. He then went to live with relatives. To escape his
problems, Christian threw himself into weight-lifting and other sports, but
lifting was his passion. He contributes his success to Coach Jay Moore
and several family members and friends. Christian placed third in the state
power-lifting competition when he was in 8th grade. In 9th grade, he won
junior state champion. In 10th grade varsity, he placed third in the state;
the first and second place winners were seniors. In 2016, his junior year,
he won the state power-lifting championship. During that time, he dabbled
in drugs to drown out his problems, but quickly realized that was not the
way he wanted to live his life. In 2017, he turned his life over to God after
contemplating suicide. From that moment on, he wanted to make a difference. After high school, Christian plans to possibly attend ORU in the fall
semester. He wants to become a youth pastor to help kids like himself that
have gone through troubled times.

Three Former Tellers at Elk City Bank
Sentenced to Prison for $427,000 Embezzlement
Breanna LaShea Vinson, 26, of Elk City,
Shanquaie Stevenson, 27, of Weatherford,
and Kayla Rene Jackson, 27, of Elk City
were sentenced January 25 to federal prison for conspiracy to embezzle funds from
a federally insured bank, in connection with
a $427,632.90 embezzlement from Great
Plains National Bank (“GPNB”) in Elk City,
announced Robert J. Troester, Acting United
States Attorney for the Western District of
Oklahoma.
On August 17, 2017, Vinson, Stevenson,
and Jackson pleaded guilty to separate
one-count Informations charging them with
conspiracy to embezzle funds from mid-2014 to 2016 at GPNB in Elk City.
Vinson, Stevenson, and Jackson were GPNB tellers who had access to the
bank’s cash vault. At their plea hearings, the defendants admitted that they
routinely stole cash from GPNB’s vault or teller drawers, and they created
false vault balancing sheets to conceal the missing cash. In October 2016,
GPNB officials discovered that the vault and a teller drawer were missing
$427,632.90. Jackson stopped working at GPNB in April 2016; Vinson and
Stevenson were still employees of the bank when the cash shortage was
discovered.
Vinson and Stevenson were sentenced each to 18 months in federal prison,
followed by two years of supervised release; Jackson to one year and one
day in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
In addition, the defendants were ordered to pay restitution to GPNB and an
insurance company. Vinson was ordered to pay $317,432.90 in restitution,
and Stevenson was ordered to pay $247,432.90 in restitution, and Jackson was ordered to pay $157,432.90 in restitution. A federal judge ordered
$147,432.90 of each defendant’s restitution amount to be joint and several
with the other defendants.

How can people find a treatment
center they can afford?
If they have health insurance, it may
cover substance abuse treatment services. Many insurance plans cover inpatient
stays. When setting up appointments
with treatment centers, you can ask about
payment options and what insurance
plans they take. They can also advise you
on potential low-cost options.
To find treatment—and to learn about payment options—try the Behavioral
Health Treatment Services Locator provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration. This free tool offers payment information for each
of the treatment services listed, including information on sliding fee scales and
payment assistance. Its “Frequently Asked Questions” section addresses cost of
treatment.
You can also call the treatment helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (1-800-662-4357)
or 1-800-487-4889 (TTY) to ask about treatment centers that offer low- or nocost treatment. You can also contact your state substance abuse agency—many
states will help pay for substance abuse treatment.
Note that the new Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act ensures that
co-pays, deductibles, and visit limits are generally not more restrictive for mental
health and substance abuse disorder benefits than they are for medical and surgical benefits. The Affordable Care Act builds on this law and requires coverage
of mental health and substance use disorder services as one of ten essential
health benefits categories. Under the essential health benefits rule, individual and
small group health plans are required to comply with these parity regulations. For
more information on the Affordable Care Act you can call 1-800-318-2596 or go
to https://www.healthcare.gov/ .
When you research payment options, be sure you are speaking to people familiar with the new rules (old websites and pamphlets will not necessarily be accurate).
A note on health insurance for veterans: If the person needing treatment is a
veteran or is covered by health benefits for veterans, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) can help you find VA services near you. Visit the VA Substance
Use Disorder Program Locator to do your search.

Hammertime!
A woman in Arkansas was taken into custody
after police say she attacked a man with a hammer.
Little Rock television station KATV reports that
55-year-old Rebecca Ann Larch was being held at
the Pulaski County Jail Sunday (Dec. 17) on accusations of aggravated assault and second-degree
domestic battery. Jail records do not indicate if
she is represented by an attorney.
Police say Larch was arrested Friday (Dec. 15)
afternoon after she allegedly chased a man outside her residence and struck him twice with a hammer. Investigators say
the circumstances of the attack remain unclear, but Larch was reportedly
intoxicated when she was arrested.
Larch has a listed address in Mabelvale but police say she and the man
she attacked were roommates. The man’s name and the extent of his injuries were not immediately available.

Poor Chastity Eugina Hopson was so worried about her possibly-tainted meth that
she actually contacted the police about it. Officers at the Granite Shoals Police Department in Texas were trying to catch the county’s dumbest drug users when they posted
a fake Facebook story about Ebola-tainted meth. The post said, “If you have recently
purchased meth or heroin in Central Texas, please take it to the local police or sheriff
department so it can be screened with a special device. DO NOT use it until it has been
properly checked for possible Ebola contamination!””
Hopson, 29, saw the post and was understandably afraid that her meth could be...
wait for it... dangerous. She responded to the department’s post on Facebook, and
they gladly took her sample in for “testing.” Hobson was charged with possession of
less than one gram of a controlled substance.
18 year old Ruben Zarate wanted to rob a muffler shop in Chicago and demanded
money. Unfortunately it was mostly in the safe. Zarate decided that he would try again
later. To save himself some time, he left his cell phone number with the store employees. That way, they could call him when the manager returned.
Demetrius Robinson, 28, wanted to rob a Golden Pantry store late one night, but he
needed to pass the time as naturally as possible until he and the clerk were alone, so
he decided to fill out a job application. Not a bad idea, except he left his real name on
the application, along with his uncle’s phone number. After he robbed the store, it didn’t
take long for police to track him down. He didn’t get the job.
Before breaking into an apartment, Joey Miller and Matthew McNelly decided to put
on disguises. And by disguises we mean they covered their faces in permanent marker.
The thing about permanent marker is that... well it’s permanent.
After the burglary, the pair was pulled over by police and immediately recognized
because of their hair. Just kidding, it was their faces covered in permanent marker that
set them apart from the crowd.
A Kentucky woman was arrested after authorities caught her trying to shoplift merchandise while her son took part in a “Shop with a Cop” event. She was charged with
theft of less than $500 and not understanding irony.
Eoise Reaves stretched the limits of “to serve and protect” when she approached
a policeman and asked him to help her get her money back for the poor-quality crack
cocaine she’d just purchased. She showed him the crack, which she had tucked away
in her mouth, and he placed her under arrest. How does one know when crack has
gone bad?
Things were looking up for Frank Singleton when he was released from jail. However,
when he realized that he didn’t have a ride home, he walked straight into the prison
parking lot and attempted to carjack a woman. He was foiled when he realized that
he couldn’t drive a car with a stick shift. As he was re-arrested - this time, for felony
carjacking - Singleton told police that he simply “didn’t feel like walking.” We’ve all been
there.
A West Palm Beach, FL man was arrested on a slew of charges, and was perhaps
a bit too honest on his arrest report. He listed his occupation as “drug dealer” and was
charged with being the most obvious criminal in the history of crime.
A police impersonator in Dumfries, VA tried to pull over an off-duty officer, when the
real cop informed the fake cop that he was a real cop (this is getting confusing) the fake
cop ran away but was quickly apprehended and hauled off to a very real prison.
Charles Ray Fuller, a Texas dumb dumb, tried to cash a bogus check for $360 BILLION. To top it off, the check wasn’t even made out to him. He was arrested on forgery
charges and sentenced to a million billion years in prison.
Two men arrested in Houston were accused of stealing an iPad and using it to take
selfies that they unknowingly uploaded to the owner’s iCloud account. The men appeared in the photos displaying money they were also accused of taking from the
victim. At least they didn’t have to listen to that new U2 album!
The dumbest policeman in the world, who was making some extra cash with drugs
and prostitution, was brought to justice after driving a $170,000 Ferrari to work. Osman
Iqbal, an officer based in Birmingham England, was jailed for seven years for running
a brothel.

The puzzling puzzle
A conspiring trio is in trouble after they
allegedly made plans to sneak contraband
into the Washita County Justice Center via a
puzzle box.
According to the affidavit, a detention officer discovered a puzzle box that had been
dropped off for an inmate on December 29.
Inside the box were six cigarettes and a bag
containing a white crystal substance that was
later identified as meth.
The dispatcher said he wasn’t sure who
dropped off the package, but he thought it
was a woman with a “blond ponytail.”
Officers knew that Clinton woman Jordan
Elisabeth Mosby, 31, had visited the inmate
who the package was addressed to earlier that morning. They called and
asked if she dropped off the puzzle box. She said yes, but claimed someone
else had given it to her to give to her locked up lover.
Further investigation revealed conversations between Mosby, a 34-year-old
inmate named Jonathon Paul Tucker, and Tucker’s girlfriend, Tuttle woman
Stephanie Dawn Patrick, 34.
The trio allegedly discussed how to alter the puzzle box to sneak contraband into the jail facility. Mosby and Patrick planned to meet up and become
friends so they could discuss how to get illegal items into the jail.
Patrick is wanted for bringing contraband into jail/penal institution and conspiracy. A warrant was issued for her arrest with a $50,000 bond.
Mosby and Tucker are being charged with bringing contraband into jail/
penal institution and conspiracy. Their bonds were set at $50,000, and they
are scheduled to appear in court on March 13, 2018.

A 22-year-old Geary woman is being charged with assault and battery
after she allegedly cut her husband’s
throat with a knife during an altercation on January 26.
According to reports, Geary officers
were dispatched to a residence in
the 600 block of North Aurora at approximately 5:58 p.m. to investigate
a stabbing. A male victim had been
stabbed by a female assailant.
When they arrived, they made contact with the victim. He told them that
his wife, identified as Christine Lynn
Addison, had cut his throat with a
knife.
Officers say the man had a laceration across his neck. He was
taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Officers later located Addison and spoke to her about the alleged stabbing. After interviewing her about the incident, they
placed her under arrest for the attack. Officers also found the
weapon she used to allegedly cut her husband’s throat.
The woman was booked into the Geary Municipal Jail, but was
later transferred to the Blaine County Jail.
Addison is being charged with assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon. Her bond was set at $30,000, and she is
scheduled to appear in court on February 14, 2018.
