Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty 5 | FEBRUARY 2019 CANADIAN COUNTY
A Yukon man with warrants for his arrest was
taken into custody by police on January 20 after
he crawled around the city’s sewer tunnels for a
couple of hours.
According to reports, Canadian County deputies were advised that 45-year-old Donnie Ray
Parks, who was wanted on several felony warrants involving drugs and weapons, was at a local
apartment complex.
When they located the man, however, he took
off running and went right into a storm drain.
Deputies had difficulty locating the man, and
Yukon Main Street was shut down. A tactical team
and a robot were called in to find the wanted man.
For a couple of hours, Parks crawled around the sewer tunnels in an
attempt to evade police. Deputies found Parks when he tried to lift a manhole cover in the middle of Main Street. When officers arrested the man,
they found a shank in his possession.
Parks is being charged with obstructing an officer and carrying weapons. His bond was set at $2,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on February 25, 2019.

Being able to tell the difference between healthy, unhealthy and abusive
relationships can be more difficult than you would think. No two relationships

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

butting heads
Weatherford man Dakota Dustan Glen Craddock, 29, was taken to jail after he allegedly
headbutted an officer and threatened to kill police during a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI.
On January 22, at approximately 1:46 a.m.,
a Weatherford officer was traveling eastbound
in the 300 block of West Main Street when he
saw a white truck fail to stop at the stop sign
at South Eighth Street and West Main. According to the affidavit, the vehicle also made an
improper turn onto Main.
The officer stopped the vehicle in a convenience store parking lot. When the officer met
with the driver, identified as Craddock, he smelled alcohol coming from
inside the vehicle. Craddock also had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
He told the officer he was headed from a local bar, but had only had two
beers.
The officer asked the driver to step out of his vehicle. He then asked the
man how long ago he had consumed the beers. Craddock said 45 minutes prior. The officer administered field sobriety tests, which Craddock did
not pass. The officer told him he was under arrest for DUI.
Craddock refused to put his hands behind his back. The officer put the
man’s arms in handcuffs and started to pat him down for weapons. Craddock told him, “Go f--- yourselves.”
While leading the man to the patrol car, Craddock stumbled and fell.
Officers assisted the man in standing up. While police put the man in the
patrol car, he headbutted one of the officers.
While waiting for a wrecker to take the man’s truck away, Craddock just
became even more angry. He told officers things such as, “I’m going to
break your f------ mouth,” and “I’m going to kill you.”
Craddock was transported to jail, where he continued to be combative
and noncompliant.
Around 3:10 a.m., dispatch advised the officer the man asked if he was
going to get to take the state’s test. When the officer went to speak to
the man, Craddock acted like he couldn’t hear the officer and refused to
respond.
Craddock is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police
officer, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and
threaten to perform act of violence. His bond was set at $25,000, and he
is scheduled to appear in court on March 1, 2019.

As a female shopper exited a convenience store, a man grabbed her
purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately and the woman was
able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher, and police apprehended him within minutes. They put him in the cruiser and drove
back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to
stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, “Yes Officer, that’s her.
That’s the lady I stole the purse from.”
In Bent Forks, Ill., kidnapers of ice-cube magnate Worth Bohnke sent a
photograph of their captive to Bohnke’s family. Bohnke was seen holding
up a newspaper. It was not that day’s edition and, in fact, bore a prominent headline relating to Nixon’s trip to China. This was pointed out to
the kidnapers in a subsequent phone call. They responded by sending a
new photograph showing an up-to-date newspaper. Bohnke, however,
did not appear in the picture. When this, too, was refused, the kidnapers became peevish and insisted that a photograph be sent to them
showing all the people over at Bohnke’s house holding different issues of
Success Magazine. They provided a mailing address and were immediately apprehended. They later admitted to FBI agents they did not understand the principle involved in the photograph/newspaper concept. “We
thought it was just some kind of tradition,” said one.
After being arrested for stealing a car, the judge asked the man, “how
do you plead?” Instead of saying guilty or not guilty the man said: “Before
we go any further, judge, let me explain why I stole the car.” The judge
ruled in record time.
When two service station attendants refused to hand over the cash
to an intoxicated robber, the man threatened to call the police. They still
refused, so the robber called the police and was arrested.
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just
couldn’t control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each
man in the lineup to repeat the words, “Give me all your money or I’ll
shoot,” the man shouted, “That’s not what I said!”
In a small town of 1700, a student attempted to rob the local convenience store wearing his letterman’s jacket. He did not realize that he was
the only male named Dana in the whole town.
A company called “Guns For Hire” stages gunfights for Western movies, etc. One day, they received a call from a 47-year-old woman, who
wanted to have her husband killed. She got 4-1/2 years in jail.
Accused of selling drugs, Howard Jones’s attorney sought to lower
his client’s bail from $150,000 insisting that Jones would not think about
fleeing. At that very instant, Jones sprinted out of the front door of the
courtroom. He was caught fifty minutes later and his bail was raised to
$500,000.

A 21-year-old woman who was sought by
authorities in Las Vegas after allegedly skipping out on a $35 manicure and using a stolen car to run over and kill a manicurist has
been arrested in Arizona.
Krystal Whipple was taken into custody by
a team of Phoenix-area fugitive hunters involving local police, county investigators and
FBI agents, Las Vegas police said. The arrest
occurred in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale.
Las Vegas police Officer Jacinto Rivera
said he did not immediately have details of
the arrest. He said prosecutors will seek her
extradition from Arizona to Las Vegas where
Whipple was sought in a warrant issued Jan.
4 on murder and robbery charges in the killing of Ngoc Q. Nguyen, 51, of Garden Grove,
California.
The case sparked intense national interest after police released an internet
plea for help identifying Whipple that showed parking lot security video of a
woman leaving the nail salon Dec. 29. Homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said Whipple tried to pay for her manicure with a fraudulent credit card before telling
Nguyen that she was going to her car to get cash, then drove away.
Nguyen went to the front of the car and a man who Spencer identified as
Nguyen’s husband was seen in the security footage holding onto the vehicle
from behind as the car accelerates out of a parking lot.
Police say the car was a rental that had been stolen. It was later found
abandoned at an apartment complex.
Whipple has a criminal record in Las Vegas including a conviction in 2017
for attempted possession of a stolen vehicle. Clark County District Court records said she was sentenced to four months in jail for violating probation in
that case.
An attorney who represented Whipple at that time said he doesn’t represent her now.

Johnson locked up for burglary
20-year-old Jeffrey Stephen Johnson allegedly
broke into some vehicles and hid the stolen items
in his girlfriend’s bedroom. The Burns Flat man was
put behind bars after an officer noticed he looked
familiar.
According to the police report, a Burns Flat officer was at a gas station when he saw a man that
looked a lot like a burglary suspect who had been
breaking into some vehicles. The officer saw the
man get into a vehicle, so he approached him and
asked him to step out so they could talk. He compared a photo of the suspect with the man, later
identified as Johnson. Johnson denied that it was
him in the photo.
The officer asked the man if he could search his
house. Johnson said it wasn’t his house, but the officer could “go ahead.” He
didn’t have an ID, but he gave the officer his name and birthdate.
Dispatch advised the man didn’t have a valid license. Johnson said his girlfriend’s mom knew he didn’t have a driver’s license, but she asked him to go to
the store anyways.
The officer spoke with a woman in the vehicle, who was identified as Johnson’s
girlfriend. She said Johnson had court coming up for auto burglary. She also told
the officer she hadn’t noticed any new items in the house, and Johnson had
been at home with her every night.
Officers took the couple to the residence where they met with Johnson’s girlfriend’s mom. She said the photo of the burglary suspect looked exactly like
Johnson. She also gave officers permission to search the house.
Johnson’s girlfriend looked through her bedroom and she found a handgun, a
purse, two pairs of glasses and a blanket, all items that had been reported stolen.
Johnson was placed under arrest. He told officers he had a drug problem and
was using Xanax that was not prescribed to him. He said he couldn’t remember
the things he does when he uses the drug.
Johnson is being charged with burglary in the third degree and knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 29, 2019.
