A pair of El Reno burglars were taken into custody after detectives followed a paper trail the two men left behind.
Victor Maldonado, 23, was charged Dec. 18 with first-degree
burglary and two counts of unauthorized use of a debit card, and
Cortez Wilson, 20, was charged with first-degree burglary and debit card theft.
Detectives were called to investigate a burglary at a home in the
500 block of South Williams in El Reno. On Nov. 29, the victims
were at home at the time of the burglary, and one of them surprised
the burglar, which caused him to flee the house, according to the
police affidavit. The victim was able to get a good look at the burglar and watched as he jumped into the passenger seat of a waiting
white SUV. It then took off at a high rate of speed.
The next day, one of the victims contacted El Reno police about
a transaction on her debit card at the Yukon Wal-mart that she
didn’t make. When detectives watched the video surveillance of the
transaction, they immediately recognized Maldonado. They also
knew he drove a white SUV.
During an interview with Maldonado, he admitted to using stolen cards at the Circle K and Wal-mart in Yukon. He said he got the
cards from Wilson and that they got the cards from several homes
in the El Reno area.
While looking for information on Wilson, it was discovered he
was wanted out of Mayes County on an outstanding warrant and
currently worked at a livestock sale barn in El Reno.
Officers found Wilson behind a large angled fence at his job and motioned that he would talk
with them. Wilson opened the back gate to the pen and took off running through the cattle pens.
Wilson almost got away, but ran right smack dab into Deputy Chief Wilkerson, and he subdued
Wilson until officers arrived to cuff him.
In a lineup, the victim positively identified Wilson as the person who entered her home.
Wilson’s bond was set at $20,000 and he was ordered back to court Feb. 20 for his preliminary hearing. Maldonado’s bond was set at $15,000.
Smile, you’re on camera!

Two Tennessee would-be robbers tried to “disguise”
themselves by covering their face in black magic marker. That is never, ever a good reason to apply black anything to a white face.
Bad news: A Florida man was pulled over and arrested after the police searched his car and found
marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Good news: In
the process, the police found a bong that the man had
been looking everywhere for -- and thanked the cops
for their help.
If you’re anything like the woman in Sweden arrested for drunk driving, you may think you can get out of
the case by covering up one eye to avoid double vision,
as she claimed in court. Unfortunately, it won’t work
(neither the method nor the excuse).
There’s a reason that billboards don’t say, “Drink.
Drive. Go To Jail. Next time, get your 10-year-old son
to drive instead.” But one Tennessee man found out
the hard way that it might not be a great idea after the
car crashed (everyone is fi ne).
You gotta hand it to a Dallas man who tried to cash a
fake check for $360 billion. Why not?
When a 14-year-old Tampa Bay boy dialed the
wrong number, he quickly apologized, then off ered to
sell the person on the other end of the line some drugs.
Unfortunately for him, that other person was a cop.
A Colorado man went to a video store and claimed
that as a part of the “age verifi cation unit” of the local
police department, it was his duty to confi scate DVDs
of pornography to ensure that all the actresses (and
actors, presumably) were over 18. As foolproof as this
plan was, he was arrested by the cops deployed from
the Creepster Verifi cation Unit. Apparently he had
never even heard of the Internet.
Since when was it a crime to try to resuscitate a longdead armadillo on the road? Who knows, but a drunk
Pittsburgh man who tried was arrested anyway.
Here’s a great way to get arrested: 1. Commit bank
fraud; receive over $200,000 in credit. 2. Flee the
country. 3. Brag about your new lifestyle on Facebook.
5. Accept friend request from DOJ offi cial. 6. If you’ve
made it this far, you don’t need our help.

The Canadian County Internet Crimes Against Children Unit
has arrested a man after they met with him during an undercover sting operation.
Daniel Cox, 27, was charged Jan. 9 with unlawful communication by use of technology in Candian County District Court.
Investigators discovered Cox when he responded to an undercover ad featuring a female teenager. Cox messaged he would
like to meet the girl and suggested the two should meet at the
library in Yukon.
Cox agreed to the meeting, but told “her” that he could not
meet until after 10 p.m.because he wanted to watch the Thunder
game, according to reports.
Cox also messaged the “girl” that he wasn’t interested in a one
night stand, but wanted a relationship, reports say.
Just before 10 p.m., agents pulled up behind Cox’s vehicle and took him into custody. He was
transported to the Canadian County Jail and booked. Agents also found a handgun in the car,
and when asked about it, Cox claimed he was a reserve officer for Forrest Park. After contacting
Forrest Park, agents discovered that was not true.
Bond was set at $55,000.

death row
George Ochoa executed
Oklahoma death row inmate George
Ochoa was executed Dec. 4 for the 1993
shooting deaths of a couple during a home
invasion.
Ochoa maintained until the end that
he was wrongfully convicted of fi rstdegree murder in the shooting deaths of
Francisco Morales, 38, and Maria Yanez,
35, on Oklahoma City’s south side.
The punishment came less than a
month after the state Pardon and Parole
Board rejected Ochoa’s request that it
recommend Gov. Mary Fallin reduce his death sentence to life in
prison.
Investigators say Morales was shot 12 times and Yanez 11 times in
their bedroom on July 12, 1993. Three of the couple’s children were
inside the house at the time of the shootings and later testifi ed at
trial.
Prosecutors said there was little evidence to suggest a motive for
the killing, but no doubt that Ochoa and his co-defendant, Osbaldo
Torres, 37, were responsible. Ochoa and Torres were stopped
by police near the crime scene and were described by police as
“sweating and nervous,” court records show.
Torres, a Mexican citizen, was also convicted of fi rst-degree
murder and sentenced to death in the shootings, but his sentence
was reduced by then-Gov. Brad Henry in 2004. Henry imposed a
sentence of life without parole after Mexican government offi cials
raised concerns that Torres was not given a chance to speak with the
Mexican consulate after being accused, as required by international
conventions.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Donna M: Educate instead of incarcerate, most of
these women have children, and were forced to be a
mom before they graduated high school
Kyle B: and others: Forced to be a mom?
Stacey A: Thats what happens when there is no
EDUCATION and no JOBS....
Sonya B: No one forces a woman to be a mom. I
to agree, with education, maybe some of these women
wouldn’t be behind bars.
Travis P: You play the game you pay the price
Julie S: Jail should not be comfortable for any one.
Let’s stop rewarding criminals with things like comfort.
Sheesh!
Chelsea M: Seems like people are making a lot of
excuses for these women.
Ludie E: As the economy gets worse we will see more
people committing crimes.
Teresa C: Forced!!! More like EASY!!! Then having
babies they don’t want to be bothered with!!!! They are
where they belong!!! They have brains but obviously
don’t use them!!!!!
Eddy C: “Forced” to be a mom... Most should have
had better parents or not been having sex without
protection. I blame the STUPID boys just as much.I
think more laws should be in place to hold both partners
responsible when a child is “CREATED” but, I also
think American Adoption laws need to be reviewed...
There are thousands of people that want children that
cannot afford to adopt here, and go to other countries
to get their kids... Sad. A majority of these women were
not FORCED to be anything. It was a choice they made.
Mandatory Birth control... NOW! Women can be just
as brutal and vicious as any man, criminal thoughts go
through every mind... acting on them is the difference...
following the law or breaking the law. I do not feel any
sympathy towards anyone whose case I personally
follow that is convicted of violence or drug related.
Burglary or theft... I hope they get maximum sentences.
Child Abuse... Neglect... I hope they never get out... and
I do not even like kids... Same thing though... I hope
they NEVER get Out.
Chanda J: No person is beyond redemption. You
guys sound like youre ready to bust out pitchforks.
Paula T: I do not feel sorry for any women who is a
“mom” that is in prison. I feel sorry for the children that
were born to these women. I raise 2 that have a mother
with issues and with me being a step parent, the “real
mom” really makes it hard for me to teach these kids
right from wrong! She’s always encouraging them to
make bad choices. i think if You’ve ended up in prison,
you’ve obviously wronged your children in some way!
I would also like to add that the over crowding is
possibly due to these women not being taught right
from wrong to begin with! Wake up folks! Today’s kids
and young people are missing a lot of nurturing and
butt whippings! I work for a school district and I see
it everyday. Problemed kids with problemed parents!
I would also like to add that EDUCATION STARTS AT
HOME!!!
Mike H: Here’s an idea. Make another building. And
keep those dirtys off the streets.
Corey L: We don’t need to use more taxpayer money
to build bigger county jails and state correctional
facilities. The solution is simple. Stop penalizing
drug offenses. Offer effective rehabilitation where
needed other than incarceration. The justice system
in Oklahoma and the rest of America is too simplified.
We’re better than this.
Kacie D: This is bc Oklahoma sends people to jail for
the most ridiculous stuff id love to see some statistics
on what these women are there for.
Phyllis B: dopers, drunks, prosties, thieves, larceny,
fraud, and just plain mean
Quincy B: Sounds like its time for some tent jails
and hard labor to earn there keep
Misty S: THE SYSTEM IS THE PROBLEM! In the
US, we have the most people in jail in the world. In
Oklahoma, there are more women in jail than anywhere
else in the US. Oklahoma ha the most women locked
away in the WORLD! The court systems are harder on
women in Oklahoma than men, THEY WILL ADMIT
IT. Release drug offenders, get them help, show them
how to live.
The director of the Oklahoma Department of
Corrections says the prison system is out of
space for female offenders.
The Tulsa World reports that DOC Director
Justin Jones following a Board of Corrections
meeting in Vinita that fewer women are being
released this year while more women are being
convicted and sent to prison.
He says the increase is due to some convicts
being required to serve 85 percent of a sentence
in addition to enhanced punishments for others.
Jones says the department took in 1,198 female
inmates last year and released 1,162. He says the
agency is projected to receive 1,242 women this
year and expects to release 1,131.

The Clinton Police Department received a
911 call at approximately 2:20 a.m on Dec. 27
regarding a shooting at a home in the 1800
block of Hunt Street.
When officers and medical personnel arrived
at the home, they found a man and woman with
gunshot wounds. Jessica Jane Kauley, 35, was
rushed to Clinton Integris Hospital where she
was pronounced dead. Her friend, Shawn Patrick Spottedwolf, 26, received non-life threatening injuries.
Just before 3 a.m. Clinton Police received another 911 call- this one
regarding a burglary at a home approximately one-half mile from the
shooting scene. There, on Dell Drive, the homeowner was detaining the
suspect for officers. That suspect, 22-year-old Samuel Keeto, of Clinton, was booked into the Clinton City Jail for first degree burglary.
The Clinton Police Department requested OSBI assistance with the
homicide and its possible connection to the burglary a half hour later.
Agents have spent the day processing both crime scenes and interviewing multiple witnesses.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Thomasine Harjo, 25, was jailed Dec. 26 after she allegedly drove drunk
through a traffic accident scene - then told officers that she couldn’t be
arrested because she had DUI court the next morning.
According to Oklahoma City police, officers were processing an accident scene where a fatality had occurred when Harjo ignored a police
barricade and drove her vehicle through it anyway.
Investigators say the accident scene had been blocked off with patrol
cars - with lights flashing - and had been corded off with crime scene
tape. Several officers tried to get Harjo to stop prior to entering the accident scene, however she didn’t acknowledge them.
When officers finally did get Harjo to stop, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol when she
opened her door. When Harjo was asked why she did not stop for the barricade, she stated
that she was simply following the car in front of her. No other cars, however, entered the
accident scene.
While officers were placing Harjo into custody, she stated that she couldn’t be arrested
because she had to appear in court the next morning. When an officer asked what the court
appearance was for, Harjo stated that it was for a previous DUI charge.
Harjo was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and charged with DUI, driving without
a valid driver’s license and obstruction of justice.

A Kansas City woman’s drug trip
landed her in Beckham County custody without bond for kidnapping and
attempted murder complaints Dec. 22.
At around 7:30 p.m. the day before,
a woman called the Elk City Police Department reporting that she drove with
her two children and Angel Yoakum,
23, to Hutch’s in order for Yoakum to
get a bus ticket back to Kansas. When
the woman got out of Hutch’s, Yoakum, the kids and her truck vanished,
she said.
The woman then called police to report a kidnapping, leading police to eventually find the children at the
Great White Pressure Control parking lot. The truck belonging to the
woman was abandoned near an area convenience store, and it had a
9mm semiautomatic handgun concealed inside, according to the affidavit.
The woman and her husband said the gun did not belong to them,
so police went looking for Yoakum, who was at the Kings Inn with two
men, and took her to the police station.
In an interview, Yoakum admitted to driving away with the children
and leaving them in a parking lot. She had injected methamphetamine
shortly before the incident and said she got lost after leaving the kids in
the lot, so she hitched a ride to Sayre, she said.
Detective Sarah Frye said she recommended an attempted murder
charge because Yoakum left the kids, both under the age of six, alone
in an unpopulated parking lot and without enough clothing to protect
them from the 30 degree weather that night. Frye also said Yoakum
called police and intentionally gave them the wrong instructions about
where to find the children.

When I think of holidays, and
Christmas especially, I think of kids!
To me its all about the kids...seeing
their faces when they see that Santa has stopped by and dropped off
a lot of presents, watching them play during Christmas break, and
just getting to spend time with their family. So in that vein, I thought
I would talk about a law that is designed just for the kids, and that is
the Child Passenger Restraint Law! I’m going try and hit the major
points and put it in terms we can all understand.
First, the legal stuff; O.S. 47-11-1112 states:
Every driver, when transporting a child under six (6) years of age in
a motor vehicle operated on the roadways, streets, or highways of this
state, shall provide for the protection of said child by properly using
a child passenger restraint system. For purposes of this section and
Section 11-1113 of this title, “child passenger restraint system” means
an infant or child passenger restraint system which meets the federal
standards as set by 49 C.F.R., Section 571.213. (Look for something
on the package when purchasing that says it meets this standard!)
Children at least six (6) years of age but younger than thirteen (13)
years of age shall be protected by use of a child passenger restraint
system or a seat belt. Now, there are some drivers this does not apply
to; namely, the driver of a school bus, taxicab, moped, motorcycle, or
other vehicle not required to be equipped with safety belts, ambulance
or emergency vehicle, and the driver of a vehicle in which all seat
belts are in use. Also, someone who is transporting a child who for
medical reasons are unable to be placed in such devices, provided
there is written documentation from a physician of such medical
reason. It also doesn’t apply to the transportation of a child weighing
more than 40 pounds in the back seat can be wearing only a lap belt,
provided that the vehicle either wasn’t equipped with combination
lap/shoulder belts, or all of those combination belts are in use by
other children weighing more than 40 pounds.
Common sense says our children must be protected. The really
young ones have no choice in the matter, and it is up to us to keep
them safe, and buckle them in. I know some of the older ones can
unbuckle themselves, and do so often. If you start at an early age
with them, it will be second nature for them to stay buckled. And
finally, remember, you are the biggest influence on children, and they
WILL do as you do! So if you aren’t buckling up, they won’t want
to either! Be a positive influence, and lead by example. Thanks for
reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Answer: The Bible does address the issue of
rape. As expected, when the Bible mentions the
crime of rape, it is depicted as a gross violation
of God’s design for the treatment of the human
body (Genesis 34). The Bible condemns rape
whenever it is mentioned. For example, there is a
particular passage in the laws given to the nation
of Israel before entering the Promised Land under
Joshua’s leadership. This passage (Deuteronomy
22:13-29) spoke directly against forcing a woman
into a sexual encounter against her will, or what
we know today as rape.
In the New Testament, rape is not mentioned
directly, but within the Jewish culture of its writers, rape would have been
considered as sexual immorality. As such, both Jesus and His followers (including
the apostle Paul) spoke against sexual immorality, even offering it as justifiable
grounds for divorce when a person actively committed sexual acts outside of the
bond of marriage (Matthew 5:32). This would not, however, apply to the victim
of rape, only the one who committed the act.
Further, the New Testament is clear that Christians are to obey the laws of their
governing authorities (Romans 13). Not only is rape morally wrong; it is also
wrong according to the laws of our governing authorities. As such, anyone who
would commit this crime should expect dire consequences, including arrest and
imprisonment.
To the victims of rape, much care and compassion must be offered. God’s Word
often speaks about helping those in need and in vulnerable situations. Christians
would do well to practice these teachings and model the love and compassion of
Christ by assisting victims of rape in any way possible.
To those who have committed rape, we must remember two things. First, people
are responsible for the sins they commit. Second, however, no one is beyond the
grace of God. Even in the lives of those who have committed the vilest of sins,
God can extend forgiveness to any who will repent and turn from their evil ways
(1 John 1:9). This does not remove the need for punishment according to the law,
but it can offer hope, even to those whose sins have made them outcasts in the
eyes of others.

The key to your freedom
Canton police officers arrested a Watonga woman on Christmas Eve after she
got so drunk she couldn’t remember her
name.
Around 9 p.m. that day, Canton assistant police chief Larry Thompson said
he saw a white GMC truck speeding on
Main Street. He initiated a traffic stop,
but the driver, Nicole Littlebird, 23, refused to stop, which led to a high-speed
chase with Littlebird driving more than
80 mph and swerving in and out of bar
ditches.
Once Littlebird finally stopped, Thompson told her she was under
arrest, but she was barely aware of the situation. She didn’t have a
valid driver’s license, she said. When she got out of the truck, she fell
down and couldn’t get inside the patrol car without the officer’s help,
according to the affidavit.
Once she was in the car, Thompson looked inside the truck and
found that Littlebird was celebrating the holidays in style, as she had
several open beer cans and an open bottle of 90-proof peppermint
schnapps with her.
Thompson drove Littlebird to the police department to take a Breathalyzer test, but Littlebird kept asking what she was being arrested for.
She repeatedly asked Thompson to get in the spirit of the holidays and
reduce her charge to public intoxication. Moreover, she kept mixing
up her last name between Littlebird and Sankey and would not stop
touching the police chief.
Once the officers realized a breath test was impossible, they put Littlebird- or Sankey- in the drunk tank at the Blaine County Jail, where
she spent Christmas morning. She faces charges of driving under the
influence, driving without a license and attempting to elude police.
Littlebird posted a $1,000 bond Jan. 2. She will appear in court at 1
p.m. Jan. 17.

TERRORISM HOAX
unsolved cases
The OSBI is renewing the reward off er of up
to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest
and conviction of the two men who shot an
elderly Wagoner man and stole his weapons last
Thanksgiving (11/24/11).
The Wagoner County Sheriff ’s Offi ce requested
OSBI assistance with the shooting and attempted
murder of 74-year-old Kenneth Payne last
Thanksgiving morning. About 7:30, Payne was
at the Fort Gibson Wildlife Management Area
Shooting Range sighting in several of his guns
when someone shot him multiple times and left
him for dead. Payne was able to call a family
member on his cell phone for help.
At least four guns were stolen from Payne, was
well as a gun caddy. Payne, who is retired from
the Air Force, lived only a few miles away.
One of the stolen rifl es is a rare Mitchell Black
Lightning .22 magnum rifl e.
OSBI Forensic Artist Harvey Pratt met with
Payne to draw sketches of the two suspects a couple weeks after the
shooting.
Sketch one is that of possibly a Hispanic male in his late 50s with a
light complexion. He stood approximately 5’9” tall and weighed about
160-165 pounds.
The second sketch is that of the second suspect who has dark
curly hair that extends to the back of his shirt collar. He also stands
approximately 5’ 9” tall and weighs about 160 pounds. This man is in
his mid-to-late 30s.
Please remember, these sketches are only considered likenesses of
the suspects. If anyone has information about this case, please call
either the Wagoner County Sheriff ’s Offi ce or the OSBI hotline at
1-800-522-8017.

A Cordell man is in custody after using the power of the Internet for
evil on Dec. 21, a day when the nation was still in shock over the Sandy
Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations agent Nicholas Rizzi said
he received a report of a threat of a public school shooting at Cordell
High School, which was on the website www.topix.com, made by Christopher Thomason, 21.
Two days before, a user named “rocking the boat” posted a topic
called “Cordell High School shooting 01/05/13”. On Dec. 21, a user
named “planning” posted a message to the site titled “Cordell High
School massacre”, which stated, “I’m planning on shooting up the
school…how does that make u feel?”
Rizzi checked the IP addresses connected to the posts and discovered they were registered to
Verizon Wireless. He used the IP address to find a phone number, which belonged to Thomason, according to the affidavit.
Thomason, a dropout from Cordell High School, told Rizzi the posts were a joke and that he
did not have intentions of initiating a school shooting.
Thomason is charged with two counts each of making a terrorism hoax and violating the
Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. He faces up to 10 years in custody for each of the four counts
and up to a $100,000 fine for each computer crime charge.
He has a $250,000 bond set and will next appear in court at 9 a.m. Feb. 5.
