A 23-year-old Weatherford woman
was arrested when police found drugs
and paraphernalia at her home during
a search warrant on December 23.
Shortly after 6 a.m., drug task force
officers executed a search warrant at a
residence in the 500 block of E. Eads.
Police found Noami Nicole Barron
and her daughter in a bedroom.
An investigator asked Barron if she
knew about any drugs in the home, or
if any drugs had been dealt from the
home. Barron said she didn’t know
anything about drugs in the house. She admitted, however, that she
wouldn’t pass a hair follicle drug test because she had recently used
marijuana.
An investigator search Barron’s room and found the following
items: multiple pills identified as a schedule III muscle relaxer,
marijuana, an ashtray shaped like a marijuana leaf containing ashes
and a used joint that tested positive for marijuana, cigars commonly
used to roll joints, rolling papers, a marijuana grinder, a lighter, a
tray with a crystal-like residue that tested positive for meth, and a
dollar bill with residue rolled into a pipe.
Barron admitted that she had been staying at the home off and on
for over a year, and she knew she had narcotics and that she wasn’t
supposed to have them.
Police took her to jail.
Barron is being charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on February 6, 2015.

An angry Burns Flat man was in no mood to mess with pesky
employees and police officers as he tried to steal items from an Elk
City Walmart on December 11.
According to the affidavit, an Elk City officer was dispatched to
the store around 4 p.m. due to “a man attempting to steal merchandise and being aggressive toward employees.”
When the officer arrived, he met with an employee who witnessed the larceny.
The employee told the officer he saw Roy Thomas Garrison trying to steal stuff. When he tried to approach him, 62-year-old
Garrison became “physically aggressive.”
Before the employee could finish telling the officer what happened, Garrison walked out of the store, pushing a shopping cart
full of merchandise. When Garrison saw the employee talking to the officer, he lunged at him
in an aggressive manner.
The officer grabbed Garrison, but the angry alleged shoplifter wouldn’t allow the officer to
handcuff him. After a few shots of pepper spray to his face, Garrison seemed unfazed and he
kicked the officer.
The officer tackled Garrison and told him he was under arrest. The angry man still refused
to submit however, so the officer tased him...twice.
Garrison didn’t care. He still struggled with the officer until other officers arrived to assist.
Garrison was quickly taken to jail and locked away.
The officer returned to Walmart. He spoke to the reporting employee again and watched
surveillance footage. Garrison basically took 14 items to a self-checkout lane, paid for four,
and loaded up the remaining 10 in bags without paying. When the employee confronted him,
Garrison lunged angrily at him.
Don’t mess with a man’s buggy full of stolen goods!
He later returned to the store and paid for the remaining items.
The next day, the officer spoke with Garrison. At first, the man denied everything. He told
the officer the employee was “agitated” with him and the officer was “agitated” with the employee, which led the officer to use force against him.
The officer then showed him the surveillance footage. The shoplifter apologized and told the
officer that wasn’t his usual behavior.
Garrison is being charged with assault on a police office, resisting an officer and petit larceny. He was released on an $1,800 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 31, 2015.

The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI investigate
an officer-involved shooting near Grant on Dec. 4. The incident
began with a foot pursuit of a subject by numerous law enforcement
agencies.
That pursuit ended in the parking lot of the Choctaw Nation
Casino and Resort located at 1516 U.S. Highway 271 when the
man exited a pickup truck he had stolen and then raised a rifle at
officers. William Lee Honea, 33, of Texas, was shot multiple times.
Two Hugo officers and two Choctaw County sheriff’s deputies fired
their weapons. Honea was transported to a local hospital where he
was pronounced dead.
OSBI agents spent much of the day Thursday at the scene
gathering information and evidence. Today, agents will continue
conducting interviews. Once the investigation is complete, agents will provide the district attorney with
the facts of the case. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified.

Today, I’m going to re-visit who
has the biggest impact on our new
drivers that hit the road each and every day.
First, the Oklahoma Driver’s Education classes and schools across
the state are second to none, and do a fantastic job of educating our
young drivers on the law, and proper way to safely operate a motor
vehicle. I would like to point to some other folks, who I believe
have a far greater impact on how our youngsters approach driving,
and address them, and that is the adults who these young drivers
look up to: the parents, older siblings, and extended family.
If you fit in this category, please pay attention. I believe that our
kids learn their driving behavior not from the Oklahoma Highway
Patrol, other law enforcement, or driver’s education instructor, but
from you, the parents and family. I know I learned that way! Let
me give you some examples.
You are a dad, and for whatever reason, when you are driving
in town, or on a county road, you just don’t buckle up. Maybe its
because you don’t drive fast in these areas, or have a farm tag and
just don’t have to; however, you do buckle up when you get on
highways or go on long drives. The message you are sending is that
when you are in the vehicle there are certain times that it is OK not
to wear your seatbelt. If dad doesn’t have to do it, I don’t either! In
fact, at least 50% of all accidents happen on county roads, and
you are more likely to be in an accident within 10 miles of your
residence than otherwise. So the real message you are sending is,
don’t buckle up during the times that you are most likely to need it!
Next, mom gets off work at 5:00, and one of the kids has a ball
game in another town at 5:30. She can get there if she speeds. After
all, it is important to get to those activities, and it won’t hurt to
push the speed just a little. The message you send to your kids
is, its OK to speed, as long as you can justify it! The facts are that
unsafe speeds kill more young people 16 to 25 than any other single
thing! The message here needs to be that its OK to slow down and
show up a few minutes late.....it is much better than the alternative,
which is never showing up at all because you’ve been involved in
an accident.
Please remember, when you are driving, you are setting
the example for someone....and they are watching you all the
time. What message are you sending? I hope it’s the one that says,
I’ll lead by example because I love you, and want to do my part to
keep you safe! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Burns Flat woman Deborah Ann Brislane, 28, perhaps had the longest drunk
spell ever on December 22. She tried to
tell a trooper she was still drunk from
the night before when she was pulled
over for speeding at 7:15 p.m.
Hmm.
According to the affidavit, the trooper
was traveling westbound on Burns Flat
Road when a vehicle passed him traveling 58 mph in a 45 mph zone. The
trooper turned his patrol car around
and once again checked the vehicle’s
speed -- it had accelerated to 62 mph.
The trooper stopped the car. As he approached the vehicle, he noticed there were two small children inside. He made contact with the
driver, identified as Brislane, and immediately smelled a strong odor
of alcohol.
When he asked her if she had been drinking, she told him it could
be from the night before.
The trooper asked her to step out of her car; he noticed she was
unsteady on her feet as she walked to the patrol car.
He again asked her if she had been drinking. She insisted it was
probably from the night before, although the trooper could still smell
alcohol on the woman.
During sobriety tests, the trooper asked Brislane to write the time
and date. She wrote something he was unable to read. He then asked
her to write the letters of the alphabet from E to S. She didn’t write
anything.
On the third part of the test, he told her to write her name. Brislane
again refused to write anything. The trooper placed her under arrest
and called her husband to come get the children.
Brislane is being charged with child endangerment by driving under the influence. Her bond was set at $20,000, and she is scheduled
to appear in court on February 24, 2015.
