THIEVES BEWARE!
Canadian County investigators arrested two men in the
theft of oilfield equipment and a trailer loaded with copper and
batteries.
According to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, May 11, 2025, investigators with the Canadian County
Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals in connection with the
theft of high-value oilfield equipment from a lease site in rural
Canadian County.
At approximately 7:54 p.m., an investigator received a
Telematics alert regarding unauthorized movement of two
GPS-tracked trailers belonging to Ovintiv Oil & Gas. The trailers had been parked near NW 150th Street between Alfadale
and Radio Road.
After confirming the theft with an Ovintiv investigator—who
had trail camera images showing a silver Chevrolet Avalanche
towing one of the trailers—investigators responded to intercept the suspects. The vehicle and trailer were located near
NW Expressway and Mustang Road, where a traffic stop was
conducted.
Two suspects, identified as Jason Lee Sparkman, 47, of
Muldrow, and James Shawn Freeman, 43, of Oklahoma City,
were taken into custody without incident. Investigators confirmed the trailer was loaded with copper wiring and industrial batteries. A search of the vehicle
revealed multiple burglary tools, a severed hitch lock, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals were booked into the Canadian County Detention Center.
A review of their criminal history revealed both have prior burglary convictions and extensive records related to property and drug offenses.
Freeman’s bond was set at $20,000 and Sparkman’s bond was set at $26,000.
“This case highlights how critical it is to protect vital infrastructure in our county,” said Sheriff Chris
West. “Oil and gas sites are essential to our local economy and public safety. When criminals target
these operations, they’re not just stealing property—they’re jeopardizing resources that support entire communities. Thanks to the swift actions of our investigators, we stopped that from happening.”
Sparkman and Freeman face the following charges: Grand Larceny, Trespassing with Intent to
Commit Theft, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia, Malicious Injury to Property, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and Engaging in a Pattern of Criminal
Offenses Across Counties.
The stolen trailer was returned to Ovintiv Oil & Gas. The investigation remains ongoing. TAMMY

NINCOMPOOPS
DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man is in police custody after leading authorities on a wild chase on May 8.
The incident started when the suspect, driving a sports motorcycle, was pulled over for not displaying his license plate
around 8 p.m., according to court documents. After initially
stopping, he drove away as an officer got out of their vehicle.
Followed by an Iowa State Patrol aircraft, the suspect was
clocked going 110 mph in a 60 mph speed zone, officials said.
After an officer on the ground lost track of the suspect, he
switched to a truck before driving away again. Documents show that while eluding police, the man
drove into oncoming traffic multiple times on Interstate 235. He then came to a stop at the Easton
Boulevard exit before jumping from an about 15-foot wall. Officials said the suspect was found in a
woman’s car before he ended up running away.
The woman told police that she was getting into her car when the man popped up from the back
seat and told her to drive.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Cole Langford was later taken into custody without incident, according to the criminal complaint.
A backpack allegedly belonging to Langford was found containing a “large quantity of drugs”
nearby where he stopped the truck. Officials said about 12 ounces of methamphetamine, cocaine, a
substance believed to be fentanyl and multiple THC vapes were found inside the backpack.
Langford faces the following charges:
• Controlled substance violation
• Eluding - speed 25 mph over limit - second or subsequent
• Failure to affix drug stamp
• Burglary 3rd degree - motor vehicle
• Driving while barred
• Possession of controlled substance 1st offense
• Possession of a controlled substance, cannabidiol 1st offense
Langford is currently being held at the Polk County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond.

FREEDOM REVOKED
A 30-year-old inmate who escaped from his
bondsman in late May was apprehended by authorities on June 5.
According to reports, Michael Antonio Moreno was arrested after an Elk City police officer
noticed some suspicious behavior during a traffic stop.
Moreno escaped from jail last month after he
was informed that his bail had been revoked. He was in the front lobby with
a bondsman. After hearing the news, he turned and ran out of the building.
Moreno ran toward the courthouse and deputies lost sight of him as he
continued north of the county annex.
Multiple law enforcement agencies searched for the man for days before he
was finally taken back into custody. CODY

A NEW ROLE IN LIFE
A former Weatherford city employee has pleaded guilty to child sex crimes that he was accused
of committing last year.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation (OSBI), on January 18, 2024, the
Weatherford Police Department and District 2
District Attorney’s Office requested OSBI to investigate allegations of child exploitation.
OSBI special agents learned that former Weatherford Parks and Recreation
City Manager Todd Earp, 40, had conducted in inappropriate behavior online
with two juvenile males. During the investigation, it was determined Earp served
as the juveniles’ drivers education instructor.
Based on the information and evidence obtained, Earp was arrested on February 26, 2024. He was charged on five counts of Engaging in Communication
with a Minor for Sexual or Prurient Interest by Use of Technology, two counts of
Executing a Scheme with Intent to Obtain Money or Services by Means of False
Representation, and three counts of Soliciting in Prostitution within 1,000 Feet
of a School.
On June 2, 2025, Earp was sentenced to 50 years by a Custer County District
Judge. He will serve 35 years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of
Corrections, followed by 15 years suspended. Earp will have to register as a sex
offender upon his release from custody.

THAT'S METHED UP!
On May 5, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Springfield Ohio Township Police Officer Austin Branham
conducted a traffic stop after identifying a vehicle
whose registered owner had an active warrant
and a suspended driver’s license.
During the investigation, Officer Branham made
contact with the driver, identified as 55 year old
Victoria Vidal, of Akron, OH, and detained her without incident.
However, things took an unusual turn. As Officer Branham returned to the
vehicle, he observed a raccoon named “Chewy” sitting in the driver’s seat with
a meth pipe in its mouth. Chewy had somehow gotten hold of a glass methamphetamine pipe, leading officers to further inspect the vehicle.
A subsequent search revealed:
• Bulk amount of Methamphetamine
• Crack Cocaine
• Three used glass meth pipes.
Ms. Vidal was charged with F3 possession of drugs, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and was cited for driving under suspension. She
was also turned over to Cuyahoga Falls Police on her active warrant. Additional
charges related to crack cocaine possession will be presented at Grand Jury
pending BCI lab results.
Thankfully, Chewy the raccoon was unharmed, and notification was made
to the proper authorities to determine that she has the proper paperwork and
documentation to own the raccoon.
While our officers are trained to expect the unexpected, finding a raccoon
holding a meth pipe is a first! No raccoons were hurt or injured in this incident.

LOST AND FOUND
Two 19-year-old men are facing criminal charges following
a late-night incident that led police to uncover stolen firearms
and investigate reports of violent threats.
Sonny Ray Allen Armstrong-Mendez and Tyler Frank Sosa,
both of Weatherford, were arrested after an incident on the
night of May 25, when officers responded to reports of a
gun being pulled on two individuals searching for a missing
16-year-old girl.
According to reports, a man and woman arrived at Armstrong-Mendez’s apartment around 10:13 p.m., believing the
missing teen may be there. When they knocked on the door,
a man reportedly pointed a firearm at them and ordered them
to leave.
Weatherford police located Armstrong-Mendez and Sosa
walking nearby shortly after the call. Neither men were armed
when police officers located them, but officers took both men
into custody for questioning about the incident.
A search warrant was executed on the apartment the following day. Inside, officers discovered two loaded handguns.
The guns were a black .22-caliber Glock hidden inside a refrigerator and a stolen .40-caliber Glock concealed under a couch cushion. The .40-caliber weapon was reported stolen out of El Reno.
During interviews with investigators, Armstrong-Mendez denied pointing a weapon or
possessing any firearms. Sosa, however, stated he saw the gun during the incident. He
also confirmed that Armstrong-Mendez was holding it.
Armstrong-Mendez is being charged with feloniously pointing a firearm and knowingly
receiving or concealing stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 27,
2025.
Sosa is being charged with knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property and
threaten to perform an act of violence. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2025.

WALTON COUNTY, FLA— A traffic stop leads
to the discovery of two pipe bombs in Walton
County, Florida. Now, one man is facing felony
explosive and drug charges.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled
over a car late on May 5 with a cardboard tag that
read, “PRIVATE”.
During the stop, the driver admitted to not having any identification. During a search of the vehicle, a birth certificate was located identifying the driver as Benjamin Adam Roach, 37, of DeFuniak Springs,
Florida.
During a search of the vehicle, Roach was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, two cylinder-shaped objects
were located. One was a piece of PVC with two caps on each end. The other
was a cylinder object wrapped heavily with black electrical tape.
When asked about the objects, Roach admitted that they had gunpowder in
them. When asked specifically if the objects had a fuse, he initially said no, but
then later said one did have a fuse.
At that time, the Bay County Bomb Squad and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosives were notified and responded to the scene. After an
investigation, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad advised that the two
objects were indeed pipe bombs and disarmed them.
Roach was transported to the Walton County Jail, where he is charged with
making a bomb, possessing explosives, possession of a controlled substance,
tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several other
charges. As of this release, he has not been issued a bond.

A WILD RIDE
An Albuquerque man is facing multiple charges
after leading Oklahoma Highway Patrol on a highspeed chase and allegedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine.
According to the affidavit, 36-year-old Justin David
Sanchez-Martinez refused to stop for a state trooper
near mile marker 49 on I-40 Westbound.
Instead, he allegedly sped away, leading authorities on a 16-mile pursuit at high speeds through traffic, stop sticks, and roadblocks.
The pursuit endangered numerous motorists as
Sanchez-Martinez reportedly drove recklessly, endangering other motorists who were
traveling down I-40. He ignored both visual and audible commands to stop, even after
being pursued by a clearly marked patrol vehicle.
Sanchez-Martinez is being charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police officers, driving under the influence of drugs (meth), and obstructing an officer. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 12, 2025. Bond was set
at $50,000.

AROUND THE STATE
LONE WOLF, OK – On May 6, 2025, the Kiowa
County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma
State Bureau of Investigation to investigate alleged
manufacturing of child sexual abuse material.
Earlier that day, deputies were notified by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services that child sexual abuse material had been discovered on a computer belonging to 38-year-old Bradley Lance Mason.
OSBI special agents, along with Kiowa County
deputies, served a search warrant at Mason’s residence in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. It was determined
during the investigation that Mason manufactured child sexual abuse material.
Based on the information and evidence gathered by OSBI special agents, Mason
was arrested and booked into the Kiowa County Jail on charges of Manufacturing of
Child Pornography and Peeping Tom. The children inside the residence are currently
safe in Department of Oklahoma Human Services custody.
This is still an ongoing investigation. The OSBI appreciates the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office and Oklahoma Department of Human Services for their assistance with
this case.
