STRANGER DANGER
Two men from opposite ends of the country were
taken into custody after they attempted to elude police
and put the motoring public in danger.
According to a press release by the Canadian County
Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on February 16, at around 3:44
PM, a CCSO deputy spotted a vehicle speeding eastbound on I-40 near Calumet Road, violating multiple
traffic rules, including tailgating. The deputy initiated a
traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and continued eastbound.
After approximately two miles, the deputy called dispatch for backup and requested assistance. Despite
maintaining their emergency lights and siren, the driver
disregarded the request to stop.
As the deputy approached the Country Club Road
exit, several law enforcement vehicles were positioned
on the entry ramp. At this point, the driver accelerated,
attempting to evade capture. They reached speeds of
115 MPH while navigating through heavy traffic. The
driver then executed a dangerous maneuver, veering
into the median and passing between a tractor-trailer
and median cable barriers. The vehicle continued its
escape at high speeds, ranging from 90 to 115 MPH,
with traffic present, posing significant risks to public safety.
As the vehicle approached the weigh station, the deputies successfully executed a tactical vehicle intervention (T.V.I.) also known as a pit maneuver, forcing the vehicle to rotate
off the interstate and come to a stop south of the roadway in a grassy area.
The driver, later identified as Quazon Gibson, 25, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and
the passenger, Angel Rosales, 32, of San Diego, California, were apprehended without
incident.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 25 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana,
with a gross field weight of 25 pounds. Authorities suspect Gibson and Rosales were
conspiring to transport the drugs from California to South Carolina, where they intended
to distribute and sell them for financial gain.
Both individuals were arrested and taken into custody. Gibson was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs (marijuana) and endangering others while eluding/attempting to
elude police officer. He was released on a $100,000 bond.
Rosales was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs (marijuana) and remains in custody
on a $50,000 bond.

These two give a whole new meaning to keeping up
with the Jones’, as this brother and sister duo joined
forces like Bonnie and Clyde and tried to rob Moncrief
Bail Bonds in Florida, along with a juvenile!!
That’s right, Rasheem Jones and Takirria Jones,
along with a juvenile, Matthew Jackson, decided they
would rob Moncrief Bail Bonds at gunpoint, with Takirria
being the getaway driver and the other two going inside
to get the goods.
It all started on January 6th, when the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (Florida) received
a call from employees stating that two individuals came into the business wearing masks,
demanding money from them and one of the subjects pointed a firearm at them. Well,
plot twist, there was no cash at the business so the subjects fled and took off in the
getaway vehicle.
During the investigation, it was learned that similar subjects had committed an armed
robbery the night before in the city of Cocoa Beach.
Through investigative work and by working with Cocoa Beach Police, agents were
able to identify all of the subjects involved in this “well-planned” robbery!! Ultimately, Rasheem Jones was charged with attempted robbery with a firearm with a mask, aggravated assault with a firearm with a mask, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,
Matthew Jackson was charged with attempted robbery with a firearm with a mask and
aggravated assault with a firearm with a mask, and last but not least, Takirria Jones was
charged with attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a
deadly weapon. All subjects were transported to the Brevard County jail on a No Bond
status, and of course Jackson was processed through the Juvenile Detention Center.
This is definitely a type of family bonding you don’t see every day, but folks I don’t
recommend it!! Oh and one more thing…good luck getting a bondsman to come bond
you out!!

TAKING ADVANTAGE
A 38-year-old Elk City man was arrested on February 11 after he was accused of financially exploiting his elderly mother.
According to reports, Robert Wade Leyja allegedly
gained unauthorized access to his mom’s financial
resources. He withdrew thousands of dollars from
the accounts without his mother’s permission.
Leyja’s mother reportedly suffers from memory
loss, Type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. Lejya, who was living with his mom, also convinced
her to make financial transactions for him and give him money. The mom told Adult
Protective Services (APS) that her son pressured her into signing over money, but
giving him money left her without enough money for her own needs.
Elk City police officers and APS started investigating the man after they received
several complaints. They spoke to family members and reviewed financial records,
confirming that Leyja did indeed take out a lot of money from his mother’s account.
He then used that money for personal expenses such as bill payments and retail
purchases.
Bank statements also showed unauthorized ATM withdrawals. Store employees
verified that Lyja frequently made purchases using his mom’s accounts.
The man tried to stop his mom from pursuing legal action against him and preventing further investigation into what he had been doing.
While looking into things, APS officials concluded that the man’s mom didn’t fully
understand her rights and that she was being financially manipulated by her son.
Leyja is being charged with exploitation of an elderly person or disabled adult by
deception or intimidation. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 17, 2025.

SEEING THE LIGHT
Clinton man Bradley Allen Cometsevah, 46, is
facing several charges related to drug trafficking
after his vehicle was stopped on February 10.
According to reports, a Weatherford police officer stopped Cometsevah’s black vehicle for a
defective license plate light. While checking the
man’s information, an officer discovered Cometsevah had an active warrant for his arrest.
Officers then searched his vehicle and found
the following: 506 grams of fentanyl (more than
1,000 pills divided into multiple bags), 32.6 grams of meth, drug paraphernalia, and 57 grams of an unidentified white powder.
Cometsevah is being charged with aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs
after the former conviction of two felonies, two counts of possession of a
controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia,
and driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked. His bond was set at
$150,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 24, 2025.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty BLAINE COUNTY 15 | MARCH 2025
A Temple University student has been arrested and
charged with impersonating an ICE officer after showing up at a residence hall and attempting to enter.
Two “suspicious” males identified themselves as police and ICE agents to dorm security on February 1, according to Philadelphia police. The individuals were denied access to the residence hall, according to Temple.
A third suspect -- identified by police as 22-year-old
Aidan Steigelmann, arrived at the building and spoke with the two suspects, before the
three of them left together in a Jaguar SUV.
Two of the three were impersonating ICE officers while the third was recording the
interactions, according to Temple University.
Minutes later, university police responded to a report of three suspicious males identifying themselves as police officers and ICE at an Insomnia Cookies store, according to
police.
While two of the suspects left the area in a light-colored SUV, Steigelmann was identified, arrested and his vehicle was towed, police said.
“The involved student is on interim suspension. Any student found responsible for this conduct will be subject to
disciplinary action under the Student Conduct Code, up to
and including expulsion,” Temple University said in a statement.
The investigation is is still active and ongoing, and the
two other suspects remain at large. The suspects were
wearing shirts with “Police” on the front and “ICE” on the
back, police said.

NINCOMPOOPS THAT'S METHED UP!
Barking up the wrong tree?
A Florida man is accused of possessing methamphetamine after he was allegedly observed
“barking like a dog” in a Georgia auto parts store
for more than a hour, authorities said.
According to Monroe County online booking records, Jonathan Patrick Navas,
29, of Palm Coast, was arrested on Jan. 23. He was charged with possession of
methamphetamine and battery, records show.
In an incident report, the Forsyth Police Department said that the owner of an
Advance Auto Parts store called to complain that Navas had been in the store
and had been “barking like a dog.”
Navas allegedly told an officer that he had no idea his barking “was causing
any issues,” according to the Monroe County/Macon Reporter.
When police asked Navas for his identification, he told
officers it was in his vehicle. When officers approached
the vehicle, they allegedly found “a clear baggie containing syringes” in the passenger seat. A search revealed
a bag full “of a clear crystal substance” that was later
confirmed to be methamphetamine.
According to the incident report, Navas allegedly told
officers that the syringes contained blood.
Navas was arrested and taken to the Monroe County
Detention Center, online records show. Bond was set at
$5,000.
