A Yukon man was locked up for drugs, despite his pleas for
police to take him to a radio station.
On Feb. 14, a Hinton police officer received a call about a
fight in progress and a possible vehicle accident at a local gas
station, the affidavit states.
When he arrived, he saw a man standing near a truck. The
officer asked him his name and the man identified himself as
Jerry Wayne Sanderson, 36.
Sanderson was acting erratic and talking a lot of nonsense.
He started crying and told the officer that he needed a ride
to a radio station that he referred to as "104.5 The Edge." He
also said he needed a ride to see his wife and kids.
The officer spoke to the parties involved in the vehicle accident; they told him Sanderson had nothing to do with the
accident, but had become belligerent and threatened them.
The officer went back to speak with Sanderson, who had
been getting in and out of his truck grabbing clothes and a Bible while the officer was conducting the accident investigation.
Sanderson told him that he needed a ride to the radio station because he had run out of
diesel, and he would do anything to get there.
Sanderson told the officer that his truck was stolen, but after checking, the officer confirmed it belonged to Sanderson.
Sanderson continued to act erratically and kept talking about nonsense.
Sanderson denied using drugs and told the officer there wasn't anything illegal in his truck.
Backup police and EMS arrived to assist. While EMS tended to Sanderson, an officer deployed his K9 on the truck.
Police searched the truck and found a smoking pipe with a white crystal substance that
tested positive for meth, brass knuckles, body armor, an air soft pistol and a 9mm pistol.
The officer was advised that Sanderson had become belligerent at the hospital. He went to
the emergency room and placed Sanderson in custody. On the way to jail, Sanderson kept
seeing things that weren't there and kept rambling nonsense.
When the wrecker arrived, Sanderson told him, "Come over here and I'll show you what
kind of man I am."
Sanderson is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful
possession or drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. His bond was set at $8,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on March 27, 2014.

A tatted Clinton woman with an incriminating tattoo couldn’t
decide whose name was inked on her when questioned by police about illegal activity.
On Feb. 19, a Custer County deputy was contacted by dispatch and advised that Clinton police offers were requesting
assistance in the 900 block of Orient in Clinton, the affidavit
states.
When the deputy arrived, he was informed that Clinton police believed they had a woman who had warrants in Custer
County.
The woman, believed to be Jennifer Michele Tartsah, 33,
kept telling police that her name was Marrisa and Jennifer was
her sister.
The deputy asked the subject for her name. As he was speaking to her, he noticed a “Jennifer” tattoo on her right arm. He
asked her who the tattoo was for, and she told him it was for her lover.
The deputy contacted dispatch and requested they check for tattoos and other identifiers
for Jennifer Tartsah. While waiting for a reply, the suspect gave the deputy three different
social security numbers back to back.
Dispatch advised the officer of multiple tattoos and identifiers that matched the female
suspect.
The deputy placed her under arrest and started to complete a pat search of her person.
Tartsah requested that a female complete the search.
The deputy informed her he was only checking for weapons. He felt a bulge on her right
arm but decided to leave it in place until a female jailer could recover it.
Before they entered the jail, Tartsah denied having anything illegal on her person.
During questioning, she continued to mess with her right arm. The deputy told her that he
knew she was trying to hide something, and she needed to give whatever it was to him. She
eventually reached inside her sleeve and removed a case that contained needles, baggies,
scales and a spoon with residue.
She admitted to using her sister’s name because she said her sister had never been in trouble and she wanted to see if she could get away with it.
Tartsah is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, bringing
contraband into jail, false impersonation and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She
is being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 21, 2014.

On Dec. 15, 2009, Seminole police and fi refi ghters
responded to a travel trailer fi re in Seminole and
discovered the remains of Nathan Wade Parker,
32, inside.
An investigation into Parker’s death was launched,
but the case is still open.
The family of Parker, who believes he was
murdered, is off ering a cash reward for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s)
responsible for Parker’s death, if that is indeed the case.
“Nathan was a very special man,” said Andrea Parker, Nathan’s
sister. “He is missed by everyone who knew him. He blessed many,
many lives while he was here with us.”

Driving with a suspended license
led to the arrest of an Elk City woman, who denied owning the illegal
items found in her car.
According to the police report, an
Elk City police officer was on patrol
Feb. 19, when he observed a car driving south on Washington Avenue.
The car turned into the outer lane of
20th Street at a high rate of speed.
The officer was able to hear the car’s
engine, which was revving very high.
The officer followed the car and
contacted dispatch, who informed
him that the car’s tag was expired.
The officer turned on his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of S. Main
Street and Meadow Ridge.
The driver identified herself as Sarah Joy Chavis, 29. The officer
asked for her driver’s license, but Chavis told him it was suspended.
After dispatch confirmed, the officer placed her under arrest.
During an inventory of the vehicle, police found a pipe with a residue in the center console.
The officer asked Chavis whom the car belonged to, and she replied that it belonged to her.
He told Chavis what they had found, but she told them that she
didn’t know what they were talking about and the glass pipe wasn’t
hers.
Chavis was transported to jail. The residue in the pipe tested positive for methamphetamine.
Chavis is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and driving
with a suspended license. She was released on a $10,000 bond and
is scheduled to appear in court on April 3, 2014.

Police said they have one man behind bars after they found
a man dead in the street, beaten with a baseball bat and a
skateboard.
Tulsa police arrested 28-year-old Pedro Castro after they
said he left his brother-in-law dead in the driveway.
Authorities said they believe Castro murdered 34-year-old
Juan Mendoza with a skateboard, baseball bat and possibly
a knife.

A Watonga man was caught with drugs in
a vacant apartment after smoke alarms led
police to his location.
According to the affidavit, a Watonga
police officer was patrolling around some
apartment buildings on Feb. 26, when he
heard the sound of smoke alarms going off
on the far southwest building of the property.
While police were investigating, the found
window open to what was believed to be a
vacant apartment.
After confirming with the apartment manager that the apartment
was indeed vacant, an officer started to enter through the window to
clear the apartment when a male walked out of the bedroom.
The officer instructed him to put his hands up and get on the
ground. The suspect identified himself as 34-year-old Elwin Judd
Pongah.
The apartment manager did not wish to press charges against the
trespassing Pongah, but while checking the apartment for other occupants, police came across some illegal items that Pongah probably
wishes they hadn’t.
Police found a light bulb with a white powdery residue, aluminum
foil, two pen cases with a white residue, a bag that contained two
rolls of paper with a green leafy substance and a bag with a white
powdery substance.
An officer asked Pongah if the items belonged to him, and he replied, “Yes, I’m sorry.”
Police placed Pongah under arrest and transported him to jail.
The substances found tested positive for marijuana and methamphetamine.
Pongah is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is
being held on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
March 11, 2014.

The Bible clearly teaches that
Christians are not to worry.
In Philippians 4:6, we are
commanded, “Do not be anxious
[do not worry] about anything,
but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.” In
this Scripture, we learn that we
should bring all of our needs and
concerns to God in prayer rather
than worry about them. Jesus
encourages us to avoid worrying
about our physical needs like
clothing and food. Jesus assures us
that our heavenly Father will take
care of all our needs (Matthew 6:25-34). Therefore, we have no need
to worry about anything.
Since worrying should not be a part of a believer’s life, how does
one overcome worry? In 1 Peter 5:7, we are instructed to “cast all
your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” God does not want us
to carry around the weight of problems and burdens. In this verse,
God is telling us to give Him all of our worries and concerns. Why
does God want to take on our problems? The Bible says it is because
He cares for us. God is concerned about everything that happens
to us. No worry is too big or too small for His attention. When we
give God our problems, He promises to give us the peace which
transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Of course, for those who do not know the Savior, worry and
anxiety will be part of life. But to those who have given their lives
to Him, Jesus promised, “Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest
for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew
11:28-30).

Kenneth Eugene Hogan
Kenneth Eugene Hogan, 52, was pronounced
dead at 6:13 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2014, after he
received a lethal injection at the Oklahoma
State Penitentiary in McAlester.
On the morning of Jan. 28, 1998, Lisa
Stanley was at home after her husband
George Stanley left for work. Hogan met Lisa
in church and she often babysat for Hogan
and his wife. Hogan arrived at Lisa’s house
around noon. Hogan and Lisa began to argue,
and Hogan stabbed her 25 times with a large knife, cutting his
hand in the process. After the stabbing, Hogan remained in the
apartment and arranged things to look as if someone else had been
fi ghting with Lisa and burned the evidence containing his blood.
After initially avoiding detectives, Hogan confessed a week later
during an interview with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
He confessed after being advised his wife had told police that
Hogan had asked her to lie about his whereabouts on the day of
the murder. According to detectives, the defendant showed no
remorse.
Prior to this case, Hogan committed lewd molestation of a minor
and various burglaries. He also enlisted a minor to sell marijuana
and threatened coworkers and their families.
Hogan was initially convicted and sentenced to death in 1988.
After successful federal appeals, Hogan was retried and again
sentenced to death in 2003.
“Kenneth Eugene Hogan was sentenced to death by a jury of his
peers for the heinous stabbing of Lisa Renee Stanley, who was
a young wife and a promising student,” Attorney General Scott
Pruitt said. “My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa’s family and
friends.”

A Sentinel man was found lying facedown in a field
by police after his truck was found in a ravine. His female accomplice tried to lie for him, but she too was arrested when police found marijuana in their possession.
According to the affidavit, a Washita County deputy
was traveling south out of Dill City on Feb. 23, when he
observed a suspicious vehicle driving along the county
roads. The deputy advised another deputy that the suspicious vehicle was traveling in his direction.
The other deputy spotted the vehicle and observed that it didn’t come to a complete stop at
the intersection of Highway 55 and CR N2170.
The driver of the suspect vehicle apparently noticed police following him, however, because he maneuvered his way through the county roads and police soon lost his trail. Literally.
A deputy informed that other that the dust trail from the vehicle had gone away.
Police continued to search the area, and a deputy noticed brake lights approximately ½
mile west into a field.
As he drove into a field, the deputy saw the suspect vehicle centered in a deep ravine. He
approached the vehicle and made contact with Bobbie Lee Barnett, 41, of Dill City.
She insisted that she was the only one that had been in the vehicle and that she was by
herself.
Not believing her story, police continued to search the area until they found Timothy Dewayne Barnett, 43, lying facedown in the field.
Timothy Barnett admitted that he had been the one driving the vehicle.
The Barnetts were arrested and transported to jail.
En route, Timothy Barnett told the deputy that he could hear the deputy asking Bobbie
where he was while he was hiding in the field.
The owner of the field was contacted due to cattle being in the field, so he could get the
fence repaired.
Bobbie Barnett is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and
obstructing an officer. She was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on May 8, 2014.
Timothy Barnett is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, attempting to elude a police officer, malicious injury to property under $1,000, failure to yield
for stop sign and reckless driving. He is being held on a $300,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on April 29, 2014.
