DURING ARSON
30-year-old El Reno man Andrew Keifer Beartrack is facing charges of first
degree murder for his alleged role in the death of a man earlier last month.
On April 12, El Reno officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of N. Barker
Street at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to reports. When they arrived on
scene, they found the body of a 40-year-old man lying in the street.
Evidence suggested that the man’s death was a homicide.
While investigating the man’s death, detectives discovered
that a pond at Legion Park could hold clues about the
man’s murder. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Dive
Team assisted the investigation by searching a nearby
pond looking for any clues that could be related to the
man’s homicide.
During the search, members of the team found several
items that were relevant to the investigation.
On April 22, Beartrack was arrested in
connection with the death of the victim.

TONY ALMAGUER 205 N. BURFORD
WATONGA, OK 73772

A Washington state man who led police on a high-speed chase on March
29 may have not actually been driving ― officers said they found the suspect’s pet pit bull behind the wheel after his 1996 Buick crashed, Seattle TV
station KOMO reported.
The unidentified 51-year-old male suspect, from Lakewood, Washington, is
now facing several charges including DUI, reckless driving, hit-and-run and felony eluding, authorities said. The man allegedly struck two vehicles before he
fled on Interstate 5.
One trooper reported seeing the pit bull in the driver’s seat with the owner
handling the steering wheel from the passenger seat. The car reportedly hit
speeds of 109 mph during the chase, and at one point drove on a popular trail
for pedestrians and cyclists (it was fortunately empty).
State troopers eventually ended their pursuit by throwing down spike strips,
but then came the shocker.
Washington State Patrol officer Heather Axtman said the driver told police
that he was “trying to teach his dog how to drive,” according to CNN.
Axtman added: “I wish I could make this up. I’ve been a trooper for almost
12 years and wow, I’ve never heard this excuse. I’ve been in a lot of high speed
chases, I’ve stopped a lot of cars, and never have I gotten an excuse that they
were teaching their dog how to drive.”
The officer said the pit bull―whom she described as a “very sweet girl”―
was taken to a local animal shelter.
Her owner was later released on an $8,500 bond, according to USA Today.
A man has been accused of grabbing a 2 1/2-foot-long (76 centimeters)
sword and chasing after another man who asked him to turn down his music,
police in Manchester, New Hampshire, said.
A man knocked on the door of Benjamin Layland, 47, police said. Layland
reportedly became upset and grabbed the sword. He allegedly chased the man
down a hall, police said. The man got away and there were no injuries.
Layland was charged with criminal threatening.
A Florida man is back in jail for impersonating a law enforcement officer just
days after he was arrested for the exact same charge, sheriff’s officials said.
LeRoy Stotelmyer, 60, was arrested after investigators got a tip from a toll
bridge attendant who showed them video of the man flashing a law enforcement badge twice to avoid paying a $2 toll, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office
said in a Facebook post.
On-duty officers are allowed to cross free of charge, officials said.
A toll booth attendant told investigators that Stotelmyer flashed the silver
badge at him, and he in turn showed the man an article about his arrest for
impersonating an officer. He said Stotelmyer then put away the badge and paid
the toll.
Sheriff Rick Staly said Stotelmyer was arrested several days before on
charges of impersonating an officer and shoplifting. He was then charged with
felony violation of pre-trial release and impersonating an officer. He was being
held without bond.
“This guy clearly has not learned his lesson and has no respect for the law,”
Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Two days after his release and he is already up to his old
tricks. We know already that he thinks he can get out of shoplifting and paying
tolls with his fake badge.”

A Cordell man was put behind bars after he allegedly admitted to stealing batteries from oilfield sites
and selling them because he didn’t have a job.
According to the affidavit, a Washita County deputy was at the intersection of N2220 and E1090
Road at approximately 1:43 a.m. on April 9 when
he saw a flashlight moving around an oilfield site.
He watched the light for about 15 minutes.
The deputy then saw a headlight come on and a
vehicle leave the area and turn east on CR E. 1090.
He followed the vehicle as it traveled to another oilfield site.
The deputy stopped the driver, identified as
59-year-old Brent Aubrey Wheeler, and asked him
to step out of the vehicle. Wheeler had a headband flashlight around his neck.
As he was speaking to the man, the deputy noticed four batteries in the bed
of the truck. Wheeler told the deputy that he took the batteries to sell because
he didn’t have a job.
The deputy asked if it was the man’s first time stealing batteries. Wheeler
said no and told the deputy he had taken some a few weeks ago and sold
them to several farmers for $25 each.
The deputy also found four batteries in the passenger floorboard, and some
freshly cut copper and a bicycle in the bed of the man’s truck.
Later that day, the deputy again spoke to Wheeler about the incident.
Wheeler said that the four batteries found in the front passenger floorboard
were taken from the same site where the deputy arrested him.
When the deputy asked where the other four batteries came from, Wheeler
said they were from the oil sites across the road from where he was arrested.
He also said the copper in his truck was also for one of those sites.
The bicycle in the bed of his truck? The man said that he took it from
Domino earlier that night, but he didn’t know who it belonged to.
Wheeler is being charged with entering with intent to steal cooper and larceny of oilfield product. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on July 14, 2020.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

The wife of a murdered Cache man has been
taken into custody, accused of carrying out the
deed.
Agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), along with officers from the
Cache Police Department, made an arrest on
April 28 in the suspicious death of 58-year-old
Terry VanBuren, according to OSBI. Terry was
found in his home on Rogers Lane in Cache on
September 2, 2019. He was dead from a single
gunshot wound. His wife Loretta VanBuren called
9-1-1 and when Cache police officers responded
they found Terry’s death suspicious and called the
OSBI to investigate.
Based on the investigation, the Comanche County District Attorney filed
a charge of Murder in the First Degree against Terry’s 59-year-old wife Loretta. An arrest warrant was issued for Loretta, who was taken into custody
at her home without incident. She is currently being held in the Comanche
County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

John Scott Brooks, 36, of Lawton, has been arrested and charged with robbing the Southwest
Oklahoma Federal Credit Union (SOFCU), announced U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Downing.
According to an affidavit in support of a criminal
complaint, Brooks pulled into a drive-thru lane of
SOFCU, located at 6714 West Gore Boulevard during the morning on March 23. He allegedly handed
a demand note to a teller, along with what appeared
to the teller to be an explosive device. Brooks then
held up a tablet that was counting down time, and
the teller then provided cash to Brooks. After bank
surveillance photos were published in the media
and a search warrant was executed at Brooks’ residence in Lawton, law
enforcement obtained information that led to Brooks’ arrest.
On April 3, Brooks made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate
Judge Suzanne Mitchell in Oklahoma City, and he was ordered detained
pending further proceedings in the case. If found guilty of bank robbery,
Brooks faces a maximum potential penalty of twenty years in prison, three
years of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, and mandatory restitution.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children receive
public assistance and their parents pay no child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A New Mexico woman is facing charges after
police say she stole a car and later tried to claim
she was pop singer Beyoncé Knowles.
Surena Henry was arrested in Las Cruces, New
Mexico, when an officer spotted a vehicle that resembled one that recently had been reported stolen, the Las Cruces Sun-News reports.
According to court documents, the 48-year-old
Henry ignored the officer’s orders to pull over and
later parked in front of her home.
Documents say Henry told the officer she was
Beyoncé.
Police also reported Henry told the officer she found the keys in the
vehicle and decided to take it for a joy ride. She also allegedly told police
that she didn’t stop driving when she saw the emergency lights because
she didn’t feel like it.
Henry is charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, concealing
identity and resisting or obstructing an arrest.

THE JAIL IS OPEN
A Duncan man was hauled off to jail in the
early morning hours of April 9 for a plethora of
charges, including resisting arrest and possession of drugs.
According to the affidavit, a Stephens County deputy was advised to be on the lookout for
a white car. A Duncan officer said the vehicle
nearly hit him while he was on bike patrol near
Seventh and Spruce.
The deputy located the suspect vehicle. The
vehicle continued south on Third Street, running through a stop sign on Hickory Street.
The deputy stopped the vehicle in the 500
block of Third Street. When he made contact with the driver, he that the
man’s eyes were bloodshot. The driver identified himself as 38-year-old
Jeramie Lyndell Stevenson. He explained that he didn’t have a driver’s license due to past DUIs. The deputy asked the man if he had been drinking
or if he had taken any drugs – Stevenson said no.
The deputy then asked the suspect where he was headed. Stevenson
said he was going to Fifth and Beech.
While checking the man’s info, the deputy was advised that Stevenson
had a suspended license. He told him to step out of the vehicle. Stevenson
said he wasn’t going anywhere until his attorney arrived. The deputy again
told him to get out of the car. When Stevenson asked why, the deputy
informed him he was going to jail.
Stevenson told the deputy that the courthouse was closed anyways and
he rolled up his window.
Stevenson eventually jumped out of the car, slammed the door and tried
to take off running. He didn’t make it. The man was placed under arrest.
The deputy noticed a bag containing a white crystal-like reside in the
driver’s side floor. He searched the vehicle and found a glass pipe with a
white residue, another glass pipe, scales with residue, a lockbox and a gun
with six bullets in the magazine.
When they arrived at the jail, the deputy noticed that Stevenson became
rigid, and he wouldn’t answer any questions. A doctor advised that the
man was indeed under the influence of meth – and ecstasy.
Stevenson is being charged with possession of firearm after former
felony conviction, possession of controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, driving with license suspended, attempted escape after
arrest, obstructing officer and destroying evidence. His bond was set at
$100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 1, 2020.

national police week
May 10-16, 2020
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed
a proclamation which designated May 15 as
Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week
in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement
officers from around the world converge on
Washington, DC to participate in a number of
planned events which honor those that have
paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The Memorial Service began in 1982 as a
gathering in Senate Park of approximately
120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Decades later, the event,
more commonly known as National Police Week, has grown to a series of
events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to
our Nation’s Capital each year.
The National Peace Officers Memorial Service, which is sponsored by the
Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, is one in a series of events
which includes the Candlelight Vigil, which is sponsored by the National Law
Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and seminars sponsored by
Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.)
National Police Week draws in between 25,000 to 40,000 attendees. The
attendees come from departments throughout the United States as well as
from agencies throughout the world. This provides a unique opportunity to
meet others who work in law enforcement. In that spirit, the Fraternal Order of
Police DC Lodge #1 sponsors receptions each afternoon and evening during
Police Week. These events are open to all law enforcement personnel and are
an experience unlike any other.

bite your lip!
An argument between a Tuttle man and
woman led to the man biting off half of the
woman’s lower lip, according to reports.
On April 26, Chickasha police officers were
dispatched to investigate a domestic disturbance at approximately 2:56 a.m. The caller
said that a man had assaulted her, then ran
across the street.
When an officer met with the woman, he immediately noticed that she had a lot of blood
on her mouth and on her chest. Her husband
also appeared to be injured – he was lying on
the ground with blood on his head.
The woman told the officer that she and
Austin Cody Boevers, 24, had been arguing
before the assault. She said at one point, the man’s head was only a few inches from her face. The woman pushed Boevers and told him to get back from
her. He shoved her in retaliation. She swung at him. Boevers then stepped
back toward the woman and bit her lower lip.
While inspecting the woman’s mouth, the officer saw that the left half of her
lower lip was missing.
The victim’s husband saw Boevers bite his wife, so he “bum rushed” the
man. While fighting Boevers, several other men jumped in and attacked the
victim’s husband.
EMS personnel on scene advised that the woman needed to be transported to an OKC trauma center. They added that she would need to be treated
by a trauma doctor, as well as a plastic surgeon.
Boevers is being charged with aggravated assault and battery. His bond
was set at $30,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 9, 2020.

Enid Man Sentenced to Twenty Years in Prison
for Possess ing a Gun While Dealing Meth
Jerry James Kendall Ritchie, 32, of Enid, has
been sentenced to 240 months in prison for
possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute, as well as possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime, announced U.S.
Attorney Timothy J. Downing.
Ritchie was indicted on November 13, 2018,
with three counts—possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a
firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime,
and felon in possession of a firearm—all of which
stemmed from his October 19, 2018 arrest by
Enid Police Department officers. At trial, the
government presented evidence that Mr. Ritchie
attempted to flee from law enforcement and then
refused to comply with police officers when he was finally caught.
During the subsequent search of the vehicle, Enid Police Officers located
approximately 13.9 grams of methamphetamine and a hand gun hidden under the hood of the vehicle.
Following a trial last year, on April 11, 2019, the jury found Ritchie guilty on
all counts.
On April 29, 2020, U.S. District Judge Scott L. Palk sentenced Ritchie to
180 months in prison on the drug count, which was run concurrent to 120
months on the firearm count, to be followed by 60 additional months on the
conviction for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime,
for a total sentence of 240 months in prison. Judge Palk also imposed three
years of supervised release.
This case is the result of an investigation by the Enid Police Department and
the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Wilson McGarry and Nicholas Patterson
prosecuted the case.
This case is part of the work of the Organized Crimes and Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Department of Justice’s signature initiatives to address
and reduce drug-related criminal activity.

NOBLE COUNTY SHERIFF
CHARLES HANGER 721 CEDAR
PERRY, OK 73077
(580) 336-3517
A court date has been set for an Arkansas man who allegedly
tried to buy tacos in Kingfisher on Tuesday, March 31, with a
fake $100 bill.
Ronald Bruce, 40, of Ft. Smith, Ark., was charged April 14
with unauthorized use of a vehicle, forgery in the second degree, possession of a forged instrument, and possession of a
controlled dangerous substance- meth, in Kingfisher County
District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the whole thing
started when Bruce decided he was going to buy a dozen tacos
and two drinks at the Taco Bell in Kingfisher with a fake $100
bill. The clerk told him to pull into a parking spot and she would
bring out his food. Officers were there waiting for him.
After questioning Bruce, officers placed him under arrest.
Seems that Bruce was the suspect in multiple fake $100 scams across two states.
He and another woman had allegedly passed fake bills in Tulsa, along with several
businesses in Kingfisher. The vehicle he was driving, which was bought in Arkansas,
was also paid for with fake bills, and when the seller discovered the money was no
good, he filed a stolen vehicle report.
But that’s not all… Bruce was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Bruce pleaded not guilty as his initial appearance on April 30 and his bond was set
at $2500. He is scheduled to next appear in court- believe it or not- on Tuesday, May
26 at 1:30 p.m.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was requested by the Woodward

shooting that occurred just after 11 p.m. on
April 15.
Raquel Lucas, 31, was charged April 17
with reckless conduct with a firearm and
transfer firearm to felon, in Woodward County
District Court.
Sherrik Lewis, 31, was charged April 17
with possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, in Woodward County District
Court.
According to the OSBI, the Woodward
County Communications Center received
a 9-1-1 call at 11:01 p.m. on April 15. The
caller stated that a male in the 100 block of
North Maple in Mutual had been shot. Upon

pronounced deceased upon arrival.
Both arrested and booked into the Woodward County Jail in connection with the
