HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS
30 pounds of meth were seized by Canadian County deputies after a traffic stop in I-40 early last month.
According to Canadian County Sheriff Chris West,
on Monday, April 3, a deputy sheriff with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for a
traffic violation along Interstate 40 Eastbound near
Radio Road, in Canadian County. The driver was
stopped after the deputy observed an improper lane
change. During the stop, 30 pounds of Methamphetamine and approximately $6,500 in cash were seized.
Yunita Cedeno, a 52-year-old black female from
Tennessee, and Sharon Hodge, a 47-year-old black
female from Tennessee, were both taken into custody
and jailed on violation relating to methamphetamine
trafficking.
During the traffic stop, deputies became suspicious
and believed the occupants may have been involved
in some sort of criminal activity. A K9 drug detector
dog was used in a free-air sniff around the vehicle,
and the K9 made a positive alert to the presence of narcotics. During the search of
the vehicle, a 2014 Honda Ridgeline, a highly sophisticated electronic aftermarket
compartment was located behind a back seat and contained 30 one-pound bags of
methamphetamine. Located in the purse belonging to Sharon Hodge was approximately $6,500 in cash bundled in black rubber bands. Deputies believed this money
was used to facilitate the transaction of narcotics.
The narcotics and money were seized for evidence. Both Hodge and Cedeno were
arrested for trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with a medical
card, and concealing proceeds known to be derived from trafficking narcotics. Both
suspects were booked into the Canadian County Detention Facility on a $60,000
bond.
“There’s a real possibility these drugs have ties to our nation’s southern border. Most
likely a transnational criminal organization. I’m extremely pleased with the exceptional
work of my deputies,” said Sheriff West. MICHAEL

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Enid man Walter Lee Hill Jr., 40, was put behind bars after he allegedly fired a gun at officers during an hours-long
standoff on March 16.
According to reports, Enid officers were dispatched to
the 1200 block of East Elm at approximately 3:52 p.m. to
investigate reports of a man firing a gun into the air. When
they arrived, they couldn’t find the man who was firing the shots.
A second call at 4:27 p.m. advised officers that there were shots fired in the area of 12th Street
and Cypress. They went to the location and met with a witness who said the shots were fired at
a nearby residence.
Officers went to the residence. A woman told them that Hill shot at her inside the residence.
Officers surrounded the residence and made announcements to Hill.
Hill then fired shots at the officers from inside the residence. Officers returned fire.
The SWAT team was called to the scene. Garfield County deputies, North Enid police officers,
and Waukomis officers also responded to the scene.
Officers spoke to Hill on the phone, but they couldn’t convince the man to surrender. After
nearly six hours, they deployed gas canisters inside the residence.
Payne County deputies arrived at the scene in armored vehicles to assist. Hill surrendered
shortly thereafter, around 9:42 p.m.
Hill is being charged with six counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a
firearm after a former felony conviction. His bond was set at $1M and he is scheduled to appear
in court on April 17, 2023.

NEWS FROM OUR
NEIGHBORS
In Boone County, Arkansas, a man was arrested for stealing an outdoor video surveillance camera from a business. He was caught
because of surveillance video ... from a camera on an adjoining building.
In Harrison, Arkansas, emergency personnel were called to a pawn shop
regarding a man stuck in the store’s chimney. He tried to tell the police he
was taking a short cut home late the night before, and decided to walk across
the roofs of adjacent buildings. You might have seen his picture looking up at
a camera from that chimney ... it made the news on the Today show.
In nearby Marion County, Arkansas, a woman had served her time in the
county jail and was released. A short time later, she called the jail and told
them she had left something in her jumpsuit and was coming back to claim
it. Deputies found a small container in the jumpsuit, tested the contents and
found that it was meth. The woman came in, she was asked if the container
was hers. When she said yes, she was arrested.

BURN, BABY, BURN
A Elk City woman was charged with arson after lighting up motel last month.
Elk City woman Fallon Tia Borzea, 40, allegedly set the Kings Inn motel on fire April 21.
According to reports, she was caught on
film at the scene of the crime earlier that morning. The surveillance footage
showed her walking from a room at the motel shortly before 1:30 a.m.
She then walked to some dumpsters close to Third Street. Shortly after, a
fire was caught on film as she walked away from the area and headed toward
the motel’s laundry room.
After a visit to the laundry room, Borzea went back to her room. There was
smoke coming from the laundry room.
When officers arrested the woman later that afternoon at her home in the
900 block of West Second Street, she admitted that she had burned some
papers in the dumpster.
Borzea is being charged with arson in the first degree. Her bond was set at
$100,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 10, 2023.

SOMEBODY'S ALWAYS
WATCHING
A Thomas resident was caught with child
pornography after multiple cyber tips over the
last six months led deputies to his home.
According to a Sister County press release,
on October 27, 2022, deputies began investigating numerous cyber tips that were provided to the Custer County
Sheriff’s Department from the National Center for Missing & Exploited
Children in regard to a suspect uploading child pornography to a social media platform. After numerous cyber search warrants, 62-year-old
Thomas resident Jeffrey Settle was identified as the suspect.
A search warrant was then obtained for Settle’s residence in Thomas
and served on April 27, 2023. During the search, Settle was found at
the home, along with computers and cellular phones. A search of these
devices revealed videos of child sexual abuse.
Settle was then arrested for possession of child pornography and violation of computer crimes act and booked-in to the Custer County Jail
where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.
This investigation is still on going and at this time we do not suspect
any of the victims to be local children.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the Thomas Police Department and OSBI ICAC Unit for their assistance with the
investigation.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Department has partnered with the OSBI
ICAC (Internet Computer Crimes Against Children) Team to keep our children safe in Custer County.

SEALING FATE
It’s one thing to verbally threaten a personwhich could be hard to prove- but when you
threaten your local police chief via text messages, you’re just asking for charges to be
filed against you. Such is the case of a Sentinel
woman…
Whitney Michelle King, 34, was charged April 21 with transmit threatening
letter, in Washita County District Court.
According to court information, on April 15, King sent a threatening text
message to Sentinel Police Chief Billy Hanes stating that she was “going to
hunt him down and kill you”, “I’ll cut yours off and shove it down your throat”,
“kill yourself”, and numerous other messages.
King is facing at least 90 days in jail and a fine of not less than $50, if convicted of the charge.
Bond for King was set at $5000 and her preliminary hearing conference is
set for May 23, 2023.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

A HISTORY OF
SECRETS
A 61-year-old Longdale man is behind bars
after investigations revealed that he sexually assaulted at least 15 young girls in Longdale over
the past 25 years.
According to reports, investigators first
learned about the child molesting ways of Santiago Flores Ruiz, Sr. after a
12-year-old girl said he sexually assaulted her. She was staying the night with
a family member of Ruiz at Ruiz’s home off Highway 58 when it happened.
Since that young girl came forward, 15 other victims have come forward
with their stories and alleged that Ruiz did the same things to them.
The victims shared similar stories of abuse with investigators. Some of the
sexual assaults against the victim took place 25 years ago.
Reports state that the man was popular in the town of Longdale. He was
also allegedly very involved with school activities in the town.
Ruiz is being charged with lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16. His
bond was set at $250,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May
17, 2023.
