An El Reno man was taken into custody Oct. 21 after he led
police on a wild chase through town, endangering many lives.
Karl Anthony Morlan, 30, was charged Oct. 26 in Canadian
County District Court with distribution of CDS, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, endangering others while eluding/
attempting to elude police officer, destroying evidence, possession of paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended.
According to information in the case, El Reno police set up
a sting operation to catch a suspected drug dealer, Morlan.
During the operation, Morlan apparently caught wind of the
sting and fled the scene in his vehicle. According to reports,
the speeds, at times, reached 125 mph.
Morlan led police through El Reno neighborhoods and the
parking lot of Lucky Star casino, but finally ended when police used a tactical move on Morlan’s car that forced him to crash into a barrier and tree on
Highway 81.
When Morlan stopped, he allegedly ate “an unknown quantity of methamphetamine”.
An ambulance was called to the scene and Morlan was transported to the hospital after he
complained of a head injury. He was later transported to the Canadian County Jail.
Morlan’s preliminary hearing conference is set for Dec. 7 at 9 a.m.

Elk City woman Tammy Sue Reber, 33,
was arrested on October 24 because she was
walking around while drunk, destroying
property. When she was arrested, she took
her drunken rage out on an officer.
According to an affidavit, an Elk City police officer was dispatched to the 200 block
of Blackburn shortly after midnight because
a woman was destroying property. When he
arrived, he was advised the woman had left
the property and was staying at a neighbor’s
residence.
That didn’t last long.
Around 3:30 a.m., police were dispatched back to the residence,
because Reber was back and causing problems again. Once again,
Reber fled the residence before police arrived, but they found her in
an alley behind the house. She smelled like alcohol, was unsteady on
her feet, and it appeared that she had peed her pants.
When officers tried to get the woman to the patrol car, she became
angry and tried to pull away; she resisted “violently.” She told one
officer, “Don’t f------ me or I’ll punch you in the face.”
She didn’t punch the officer in the face, though. She kicked him in
the shin.
Reber had to be forced into the car. She started kicking the windows and seats despite officer commands to calm down. Once they
were at the jail, Reber continued to refuse commands and resist. She
tried to fight with jail staff and had to be forced into jail clothing, but
the woman was eventually booked into jail and placed in a cell.
Reber is being charged with battery/assault and battery on police
officer and public intoxication. She was released on a $6,000 bond
and was scheduled to appear in court on October 29, 2015.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

Weatherford man Jacob Charles John Lewis, 30, told police he
crashed near the Clinton High School football field because his
steering wheel malfunctioned.
The steering wheel was fine -- it was more like the drugs made
him do it.
On October 17, a Clinton officer was dispatched to the 1900 block
of Jaycee Lane at approximately 1:56 p.m. to investigate an accident without injuries. He arrived at the football field to find a black
SUV right behind the announcer’s building. It appeared to have
crashed through a chain link fence and ended up on top of a concrete retaining wall, according to the affidavit.
A man, later identified as Lewis, flagged the officer down and
tried to explain the situation. He said he was driving east on Lexington Avenue when his vehicle messed up and caused him to depart from the roadway. He
said his steering wheel locked up and he couldn’t turn it.
After administering some tests, it seemed as though Lewis’s steering wheel was innocent
and he was actually the one to blame. During the tests, he kept swaying, his eyelids were
trembling and his pupils were severely constricted.
The officer placed the man under arrest and went to check on the vehicle. He couldn’t find
anything wrong with the steering wheel.
Lewis was transported to the Clinton City Jail. He is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on December 4, 2015.

He settled for a bottle of whiskey instead. According to the police report, a Watonga officer was dispatched to the bar in the 100 block of South Noble shortly after 10 a.m. While speaking to the bar owner, a man approached police and said he saw a car leaving before officers arrived. The man was identified as Moore. While an officer was dusting for fingerprints on the backdoor, Moore told him that some of the fingerprints were his, because he touched the door when the officer went inside the bar. Another officer asked Moore to come inside and watch the surveillance video. Surprise, surprise, the suspect was Moore, caught by the bar’s security camera. The man was placed under arrest. In Moore’s possessions, police found a bag containing tools, a black hoodie, and a house key. He told police that he needed some money, so he broke into the backdoor of the bar with a flat tool. When he didn’t find any money in the cash register, he grabbed a bottle of Crown Royal and took it home. He agreed to let police search his home. They found the stolen bottle of liquor in the man’s kitchen. Moore is being charged with burglary in the second degree. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on November 9, 2015. On October 28, the victim contacted a Washita County deputy and said he hired Erik Jaquez to do parttime work on his farm. When the man looked through his bank statements, he noticed that one of the checks Jaquez cashed was $600 more than it was supposed to be. Another check had been altered for $300 more than it should have been. Jaquez had requested this check be made out to another man, because he didn’t have any form of ID on him to cash it. The bank didn’t let him cash it, so he returned it to the victim. The victim showed the deputy text messages from Jaquez admitting that he had altered the checks. When the deputy made contact with Jaquez, he admitted to altering and cashing a check for $600 more than what the victim wrote it for. According to the police report, he said he needed money for traffic tickets in Elk City, and to help pay the electric bill. The deputy confirmed that the man had two tickets from Elk City, both for operating a motor vehicle without a license. Jaquez also admitted to altering another check to include $300 more, but he said that he was unable to cash it, so he returned the altered check to his employer. Jaquez is being charged with uttering a forged instrument and attempted uttering forged instrument. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2016.
