cash cab
A woman called police after a taxi drive named
Million Demissie Woldeyes allegedly kidnapped her
husband after the couple asked him to pull over
and drop them off at a gas station.
According to reports, the 49-year-old man
picked up a couple who was traveling from Yukon
to Oklahoma City. The victim said she first asked
a family member to pick up her and her husband,
but no one was available. So, the couple called a
cab – and they would soon regret it.
During the ride, a family member called the victim and said they could give the couple a ride.
The couple then asked Woldeyes to pull over at a
7-Eleven and drop them off. Woldeyes seemed angry and started driving recklessly. He eventually did stop at the convenience
store.
The woman went into the store to use an ATM while her husband stayed in
the car. When she came back, Woldeyes demanded more money. When he
didn’t get that cash, he drove off with the husband still inside.
The following conversation took place when the woman called 911:
Caller: I came to the ATM. I tried to give him $15, and he said; ‘oh no’ I want
$35.’ He took off with my husband in the car.
Dispatch: OK, is the cab driver still there?
Caller: No, he took off with my husband in the car. He was all mad and
driving crazy.
Caller: It’s just bad. I just need my husband.
Dispatch: Which direction did they go?
Caller: The highway from 7-Eleven.
Caller: Do you know where they might be going?
Caller: No. He said, ‘we are going to Oklahoma City.’ I need money.’
The husband was able to jump out of the car, and he went back to the
store.
Woldeyes later confessed to the kidnapping.
Woldeyes is being charged with kidnapping for extortion.

OSBI RENEWS REWARD AND RELEASES SKETCH OF
MAN IN CARINA SAUNDERS MURDER CASE
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is releasing a sketch
of an individual that agents would like
to speak with regarding the Carina
Saunders case. The sketch was made
based on the description of a man seen
in the area at the time of Carina’s death.
He is not a suspect or a person of interest; he is someone agents would like
to speak with to see if he has any information that might be helpful to the
investigation.
Additionally, in connection with the October anniversary of Carina’s remains being discovered, the Bureau is offering a $10,000 reward for information in the case.
Carina was 19 at the time of her murder. Her dismembered remains
were discovered behind a Bethany grocery store on October 13, 2011.
The case was investigated by the Bethany Police Department until the
OSBI was requested in April 2013. Over the course of the OSBI’s investigation, hundreds of reports have been written, dozens of search warrants
have been issued, interviews have been done, evidence has been collected and analyzed, and agents have even dug at several locations searching
for additional evidence. To date, the OSBI has not named or arrested a
suspect(s) in the case.
Carina’s case is highlighted in the OSBI’s Cold Case playing cards. The
decks of cards are distributed
through the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Inmates can
purchase the playing cards at the
canteen. The hope is that an inmate playing a card game will
recognize a face or a case and,
if that inmate has information that
can be helpful, he/she will then
contact law enforcement.
If you recognize the man in the
sketch or have any other information related to the murder of Carina Saunders, contact the OSBI
at (800) 522-8017 or tips@osbi.

More than 100,000 children and
youth in the U.S. foster care system are awaiting permanent families. National Adoption Month is a
time to raise awareness about the
adoption of children and youth
from foster care.
The Children’s Bureau in partnership with AdoptUSKids and
Child Welfare Information Gateway sponsors the initiative each November as a way to focus public attention on the urgent need for adoptive families for children and youth waiting
in foster care for a permanent family. This year’s focus, “Partnering for
Permanency,” builds on the social media theme from last year. A special
web page on Information Gateway’s website helps child welfare professionals, prospective adoptive parents, and youth partner for permanency.
The website contains resources, stories, and videos on topics such as getting started with social media, how to build a recruitment campaign, and
how social media impacts child welfare and adoption. The website can be

flip turns into flop
A 20-year-old Burns Flat man was arrested
after he allegedly assaulted an officer who tried
to speak to him in the early morning hours of
October 26.
According to the affidavit, the officer was on
patrol when he saw a man riding a bike headed north in the southbound lanes of Highway
44 at approximately 3:48 a.m. The bicycle also
didn’t have a light.
The officer tried to stop the bike, but the
rider, later identified as William Shonne Price,
gave the officer his middle finger and kept on
riding. At some point, the man stopped his
bike and started yelling at the officer. He then
took off again on his bike.
The officer stopped the man, and a scuffle ensued. While the officer was
trying to arrest Price, the man kept screaming, “Help!”
The officer placed the man in handcuffs and took him to the patrol car.
When the officer tried to search the man, Price jumped on the hood of the
patrol car. Officers detained the man and placed leg shackles on him. They
found a knife in one of his pockets.
Price screamed that he wasn’t going to get into the patrol vehicle, so officers had to carry him. When officers tried to put the man in the vehicle, Price
started kicking them and refused to sit up.
On the way to jail, Price told the officer several times that he was going to
pee and defecate in the back seat.
The vehicle Price had been riding was later identified as stolen.
Price is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting
an officer, malicious injury to property under $1,000, and knowingly receiving
or concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 5, 2021.

dispute? Don’t shoot!
A couple was locked up after they allegedly shot

According to reports, 68-year-old Coral “Cory”
Mae Baker and 62-year-old Christopher Robert
Brown, were caught on a dash-cam shooting at
some people. The shooting was allegedly motivated by some competition Brown had in the local
construction field. The couple fired at some people
who had prior or personal issues with Brown.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the shootings.
The first shooting was reported at approximately
11:36 p.m. on October 13 in the area of Sun Ridge
Estates. The second took placed shortly after midnight on October 18 in the 300 block of East Cherry. The shootings were also related to a stalking
incident that was reported on October 18.
While investigating the incidents, officers conducted a search warrant at a home in the 800
block of W. Rush. They found evidence relating
to the shootings, including a firearm that was believed to have been used in a shooting.
A dash cam was also seized by officers. Videos
on the dash cam included the shootings and an incidence of stalking. The videos also included Baker and Brown discussing if the drive-by shootings
had been done properly. The videos also revealed
that Brown hired Baker to commit the shootings.
Both were charged with conspiracy, felony discharging firearm into dwelling, and two counts of use on vehicle in discharged of weapon. Their bonds
were set at $1M, and they are scheduled to appear in court on November
30, 2020.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children receive
public assistance and their parents pay no child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

18 | NOVEMBER 2020 KINGFISHER COUNTY Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty
Sex offender arrested after
running away with teen
A 25-year-old Kingfisher man faces life
in prison after he allegedly ran away with a
14-year-old girl and her cousin on September
30.
The victim’s mom couldn’t reach her
daughter, so she called the police. The mom
said she believed the trio was still in the Kingfisher area.
While investigating the ordeal, officers determined that Dakota Welch was most likely
their suspect. He had been communicating
with the teen via Snapchat. He also knew the
girl’s family, and he had visited them several times. Officers believe he may have used
those visits to get closer to the victim.
After a month of visiting with the victim’s family, Welch and the teen started
meeting up regularly. The man even sneaked into the victim’s home. He apparently told her that he could help her run away from home.
While hiding, the victim’s cousin left and told police that Welch and the victim were hiding under a railroad bridge on Kingfisher Creek north of the town.
Officers found Welch and the victim walking on the railroad tracks. When
Welch saw the officer, he took off running.
A few days later, Welch turned himself in at the Kingfisher County Jail.
The victim told investigators that she didn’t know Welch was a sex offender.
Welch is being charged with two counts of lewd molestation, two counts of
forcible sodomy, failure to register as a sex offender, violation of sex offender
safety zones and harboring runaway child. His bond was set at $80,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2021.

STATE AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES MAKE ONE OF THE LARGEST METH
SEIZURES IN STATE HISTORY
More than 100 kilos of methamphetamine has been seized as part of
an investigation into drug trafficking in the northeastern part of the state.
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) Spokesman Mark Woodward says
his agency, along with the Grove Police Department started the investigation after developing information regarding large quantities of meth being
moved into the area.
“Over the past several days, investigators have conducted numerous interviews and served Search Warrants at multiple locations in Grove, Oklahoma in northern Delaware County. As a result, we’ve seized weapons,
cash and 231 pounds of methamphetamine which is one of the largest
meth seizures in our agency’s history.” ---Mark Woodward, OBN Spokesman
Woodward says the 231 pounds of methamphetamine has a street value of nearly $2 million. Five people have been arrested in connection with
the case. Their names are not being released at this time as the investigation is still on-going. They face a variety of charges, including Trafficking
Methamphetamine.

A 35-year-old man from Farmington, Arkansas, was put behind bars for allegedly driving
under the influence of alcohol on October 9.
According to reports, an Oklahoma park
ranger was on patrol when he saw a Polaris Razor leave dune riding access gate at a
campground in Little Sahara State Park shortly after 10 p.m. He watched as the driver, later
identified as Justin Cole Tyree, blow through a
stop sign. The park ranger turned on his lights
and took off after the vehicle. Tyree then headed toward Waynoka.
During the pursuit, the park ranger reached
speeds in excess of 80 mph. Tyree continued
to drive in a reckless and careless manner,
running stop signs and ultimately driving onto
some streets in Waynoka.
The chase came to an end near Ash Street and Missouri Street. He was
removed from the vehicle at gunpoint and placed under arrest.
Officers noticed that the man smelled like alcohol and a female passenger
was holding an open beer. When an officer asked her how she was still holding it after Tyree’s joyride, she said that she just held it higher in the air so it
wouldn’t spill on her.
She was also placed under arrest.
Tyree told police that he didn’t know the ranger was behind him. He said he
was driving crazy because his passenger needed to use the bathroom.
Apparently, Tyree passed a restroom during the pursuit.
The ranger conducted a sobriety test on the man – it appeared as though
he was intoxicated while trying to flee the park ranger.
Officer searched the man’s vehicle and found a .380-caliber pistol.
Tyree is being charged with driving under the influence, attempting to elude
a police officer, and carrying a firearm while under the influence.
