to Canadian County jail
An Oklahoma City man was taken
into custody Sept. 5 after he allegedly admitted to Canadian County
sheriff’s deputies he had downloaded child pornography for the past
ten years, at a rate of roughly 100
pictures a week.
Canadian County sheriff’s deputies and Oklahoma City police officers executed a search warrant at
the northwest Oklahoma City home
of James Malbrough, 33, after an
Internet Crimes Against Children
(ICAC) task force determined that child pornography was
downloaded and distributed from a computer in the home.
They say they discovered hundreds of pornographic images
of children as young as 6 years old on Malbrough’s computer.
According to Canadian County Undersheriff Chris West,
Malbrough admitted to downloading the images for the last
decade, but denied ever sexually abusing children. However,
police say that during a polygraph examination, Malbrough
said he was “very close” to acting out his fantasies with children.
Canadian County Sheriff Randall Edwards called the arrest a success in protecting children from sexual abuse:
“This is a shining example of how this program continues
to protect the lives of innocent children from the depravity
of these sexual predators. There’s no telling how soon Malbrough may have acted out on his sick fantasies.”
Malbrough was arrested on complaints of possession of
child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on $20,000
bond.

A South Carolina man was caught rubbing
buttered toast all over his neighbor’s SUV
window. Seems like a foolproof plan, how did
he get caught? According to MSN, He just
dropped the toast a few feet away from the
car and made his departure, causing a nearby
woman to notice and call the police. The police charged the now hungry man with “malicious damage to property” and estimated the
cost of damage to be about $1.
What’s the hottest you’ve ever been? Temperature-wise of course, because if it was in
physical terms, we all know we were the hottest at our 5th grade, bowl-cut, chubs stage.
But really, to what extent would you go to cool
off?
Hopefully not so far you’d get arrested, but
this is exactly what a group of four young men
in Germany did. On a hot day, they decided to
make their own pool in a car. In a BMW no
less. A policeman noticed a very strange convertible driving down the road. Upon closer
viewing, it appeared that the bathing-suit
clad men were splashing around in the waterfi lled car, clearly intoxicated. Though there
was no law against driving around with a pool
in someone’s car, they were probably charged
for driving without a permit. Talk about hot
water.
What do you guys think about sausage? I
suppose it’s better than a hot dog, which in
turn is better than bologna (which is basically
giant hot dog slices?). And no matter what, it
has to be better than Lunchables *shudder*.
No matter your opinion, sausage was a
huge disappointment for this Phoenix man.
He attempted to rob two large businesses,
fi rst an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway. He
put his hand under his shirt to look like a gun,
but the cashier was not fooled and calmly said
“no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob a Safeway,
which resulted in him being escorted out of
the building. He waited a few minutes before
returning into the store to snag a small breakfast sausage and was therefore charged with
shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up
an appetite.

Two Gracemont men were
arrested after a
traffic stop resulted in the discovery of metha m p h e t a m i n e
and drug paraphernalia.
According to
the affidavit, an
officer with the
Weatherford Police Department
was on patrol on
Aug. 18 when he saw a vehicle without a functioning tag light.
He initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Lane
Kale Brown, 23. The officer took Brown to his patrol car to get more
information; Brown told the officer that his license was probably
suspended. The officer asked Brown why the passenger hadn’t been
driving. Brown explained that the passenger was in trouble for a DUI
charge. Brown told the officer that he had known the passenger his
entire life.
The officer spoke with the passenger, Jeremy Ray Robertson, 22. He
asked Robertson how long he had known Brown and Robertson said
only three months.
Another officer arrived on the scene with a patrol service dog and the
dog conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle.
The canine alerted to the odor of narcotics, giving the officers probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. They found a glass pipe
with residue that later tested positive for methamphetamine and a
blue container that contained a white crystal-like substance.
The men were arrested and taken to jail.
Both men are being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Their
bonds were both set at $5,000 and they are scheduled to appear in
court on Sept. 27, 2013.

Rage against the washing machine
Kristal Sharmayne Conley, a 22-year-old Texas
woman, was jailed Friday after she allegedly brawled
with a washing machine, then attacked officers who
came to arrest her for it.
According to police, Conley was washing clothes at
a Waco area laundromat Friday evening when she became angry and punched the glass out of one of the
washing machines there.
Officers were called to the scene as Conley attacked
a second washing machine at the facility.
When officers arrived to rescue the machine, Conley reportedly spat on one officer and attempted to
strike a second officer.
She was booked into the McLennan County Jail and
charged with criminal mischief, assault on a peace office and attempted assault on a peace officer. She remains held in lieu of $21,000
bond.

On the move!
Shana Suggs, a 25-year-old Haileyville woman, has been
jailed after she allegedly poured gasoline on her daughter’s
head to treat a head lice problem - and ended up setting the
little girl on fire instead.
According to police, Suggs was attempting to treat her
5-year-old daughter’s head lice problem when she brought
the little girl into a bathroom and began pouring gasoline
over her head.
Investigators say a nearby water heater ignited on the gasoline fumes, which set both Suggs and the little girl on fire.
Sugg’s boyfriend reportedly heard screams coming from
the bathroom and used a jacket to smother out the flames -
but not before the little girl was severely burned.
Prosecutors say the child suffered second and third-degree
burns to more than 60 percent of her body. Although the
incident occurred in January, the girl continues to receive burn treatments at a Tulsa
burn center and a Texas Shriner Hospital.
After a long investigation, Suggs was booked into the Pittsburg County Jail and charged
with child abuse by injury. Her case is expected to go to trial in January.

Two-for-one

When police went to an Erick residence to serve an arrest warrant on Aug.
14, it wasn’t just the suspect that would
end up behind bars.
According to the affidavit, police arrived at the residence and placed the suspect under arrest for his warrant. While
conducting a pat down search during the
arrest, a Beckham County deputy found
drug paraphernalia on the suspect.
During the arrest, police made contact
with the owner of the residence, 53-yearold Loy Allen Banks.
Banks told police that the house belonged to him, but that he had let the suspect and his mom and girlfriend live there for approximately three weeks.
Due to the discovery of paraphernalia on the arrestee, police asked
to search the rest of the residence for drugs or drug paraphernalia.
Banks gave them permission and police began the search in Banks’
bedroom.
In the top of a dresser, police found a bag containing needles, syringes and a spoon containing a white residue.
Banks refused ownership of the items, although they were located
in his bedroom.
Banks was placed under arrest for the items, but apparently the
occupants of the residence liked to keep their contraband items near
and dear. During a search of Banks, a deputy found four Hydrocodone pills in his front pocket.
Banks said a woman had given him the pills, because his doctor
wouldn’t give him any more.
Banks is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled
dangerous substances and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $20,000 and he is scheduled to appear in
court on Sept. 12, 2013.

FITTING IN
Do your kids ever fret over the
fact that they “don’t fit in”? We all
feel this way at some point in our
lives. Being alone in a room full of
people is a scary thing. We all want
to belong; to fit in. It’s beyond
instinctive, it gives us the feeling
of safety and security–no matter
what our age. So, when our kids tell us that they don’t fit in, what
they could be saying is, “I’m scared because I don’t feel safe”.
Some kids really have a tough time fitting in for a variety of
reasons. Some kids are socially awkward, and don’t know how
to start a conversation with a peer. If your child struggles with a
physical or learning disability, chances are he/she feels isolated
from the rest of the class anyway. Whatever the reason is, simply
telling them that they really DO fit in, is not as helpful as you’d
expect.
Using God’s Word to Encourage Our Children
Being a Christian parent doesn’t make dealing with these tough
situations easier. But we DO have a resource to back up what we
tell our kids, and that’s God’s Word. When we actively listen to
the pain of our children feeling like they don’t belong or fit in, we
can do more than coach them in social skills (which may be a very
important tool). We can use God’s Word to encourage them even
in these struggles.
Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul
knows it very well.
I’ve found the world’s solutions to the many painful aspects of
not fitting in, being teased, or feeling isolated, are superficial at
best and not helpful at all. I mean, sticks and stones may definitely
break my bones–but words really CAN and DO hurt me!
Instead we must remind our children that God, who created
them and therefore knows every nuance of them, has a specific
plan and purpose for their lives. That HE thinks they are wonderful
and worthy of love AND friendship.

wind
An Oakwood woman was arrested
on Aug. 11 for driving under the influence and possession of methamphetamine.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol
trooper was patrolling in Blaine
County when he observed a van
weaving back and forth inside its lane
of travel, the affidavit states. He continued to watch as the van crossed
over the centerline into the other lane
of travel.
The trooper initiated a traffic stop
and asked the driver, 50-year-old
Joyce Colleen Baker, for her driver’s
license and insurance verification.
Baker appeared to be nervous and
her hands were shaking. The trooper told her that he had pulled her
over because she had been weaving in her line and crossed the centerline.
The passenger mumbled something about the wind blowing the
van around.
Baker muttered something incomprehensible to the trooper, but
he noticed that her speech was slurred and she had droopy eyelids.
The trooper asked her to sit in the patrol car and inquired if she
was on any medication. Baker said that she had taken a Percocet a
few hours prior.
The trooper told her she looked as though she was about to fall
asleep, and she told him that she was tired and hadn’t slept much the
night before.
Baker was unable to complete field sobriety tests and the trooper
informed her that she was under arrest.
Baker became upset and tried to walk away from the trooper. He
grabbed her wrist and asked her to empty her pockets.
She pulled out a small black purse.
The trooper opened the purse and found two small straws, a bag
with a white substance and a bag with a crystal-like white substance
inside.
Baker became upset and the trooper placed her in handcuffs. He
found another small straw in her pocket. The white substance later
tested positive for methamphetamine.
After conducting an inventory of Baker’s vehicle, he found another
straw and some aluminum foil with a substance inside that tested
positive for meth.
Baker refused to take a blood test and stated, “No, you’re going to
take my license anyways.”
Baker is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at
$10,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 1, 2013.

Canute man arrested
for domestic abuse
A Canute man was arrested after his wife alleged that he shoved her
against a wall, causing her to hit hear head.
On Aug. 27, a Washita Sheriff’s deputy responded to a domestic dispute
in Canute. When he arrived, John Steven Glossip, 47, met the deputy outside of the residence. According to the affidavit, Glossip told the deputy
that his wife said that he had hit her in the head. He explained that he
didn’t hit her; Glossip said that when she raised up to get out of bed, she
hit her head on a shelf on the wall.
The deputy told Glossip to stay outside while he spoke to his wife.
Glossip’s wife said that she went to bed and her husband came in the
room and wouldn’t stop yelling at her. She said she started to go into the
living room so she wouldn’t argue with him, but Glossip used both of his
hands to shove her against the wall. She said her head hit a shadow box
hanging on the wall.
The victim continued to explain that she dropped to her knees and called 911. She told the deputy
that she had a knot on the back of her head and that her neck was hurting.
The deputy spoke with Glossip again and the man told him that he was on the phone with his sister

and became angry. He alleged that she jumped out of bed and hit her head on the shelf next to the bed.
He again said that he never pushed his wife.
The deputy placed Glossip under arrest.
Glossip is being charged with assault and battery — domestic abuse. His bond was set at $20,000
and he is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 12, 2013.

KIDS FOUND IN FILTH TAKEN AWAY
FOR SECOND TIME
Prosecutors have filed
charges against three people
after Tulsa Police found
three children living in filth
last week.
Matthew Prior and Angela
Prior each face one count of
child neglect.
Police went to their home in
the 1200 block of North 76th
East Avenue on Tuesday,
August 6, 2013 on a welfare check.
According to a Tulsa Police report, officers found the couple’s three children in a
filthy home, with cockroaches, rotting food and feces on the floor.
Prosecutors also charged the children’s grandmother with child neglect. According
to investigators, Janet Marie Friend, 57, is the primary caregiver of three children
-- ages 5, 3 and 2.
The children were removed in February because of the filth but were returned in
May.
All three are in the Tulsa County jail with bonds of more than $150,000 each. The
children are in DHS custody.

Pets seldom catch much press as
it relates to vehicles, but we have
our pets in our vehicles all the
time. To many, they are a part of the family, and go with us on
trips, to run errands around town, or just out for a ride. Just as we
treat them as part of the family, we have a responsibility to them,
including doing everything we can to keep them safe while in our
vehicles.
This summer, we have been very fortunate in the temperature
department! Only a few days so far have hit triple digits, we’ve had
pretty good rain, and it has been nice. With the temperatures lower
than they have been in the last few years at this time...it could be
easy to forget that as long as the sun is shining, the temperature
inside a parked car can still rise to dangerous levels. Leaving a pet
in the vehicle for as little as 15 minutes can end up having tragic
consequences. Even when the outside temps are in the 70’s, the
temperatures in a closed up vehicle can reach the 90’s or higher. The
best solution is to leave your pet at home. If that is just not possible,
or you choose not to, make sure that your pet has water, and leave
the vehicle running with the air conditioning on. Make sure you
don’t leave your pet for long, because the AC could go out, and then
your pet is stuck in a vehicle that is hot, and is also blowing hot air!
Many people let their dogs ride in the bed of their pickup. We’ve
all seen those dogs with their face into the wind, riding in the back
of the pickup. Please remember that the bed of those pickups are
metal, and even if they are covered by a bed liner or similar product,
the temperature can heat up the bed so hot as to be extremely
painful to your pet’s paws! Again, best solution is to leave the pet at
home, but if take them with
you, use a kennel or crate. This keeps the pet up off the hot bed
of the pickup, and also eliminates the possibility of the pet jumping
out, or even the potential of biting someone who gets too close to
the truck!
Speaking of crates, they aren’t a bad idea for inside the cab either.
Ever see a dog in the lap of a driver? Obviously this is not safe, the
pet can distract the driver, or even interfere with the safe operation
of the vehicle. This puts everyone at risk, so if you are going to
travel with your pet, make sure they don’t contribute to an accident,
and keep them out of the driver’s area!
This a just a few tips. The internet has plenty more, so please
educate yourself if traveling with pets. Thanks for reading, buckle

David Magnan
David Magnan, 50, who admitted to
intentionally killing 2 women, a man, and
injuring another, was granted a release in
June on a court’s order due to a technicality.
Magnan pled guilty in Seminole County
District Court to three counts of 1st-degree
murder and one count of shooting with
intent to kill on March 3, 2004. He was
sentenced to death by lethal injection.
But Magnan’s conviction was overturned
by the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeals
after it was determined the triple homicide
had taken place on an Indian reservation
- offi cial Native American land where the
state technically has no authority or jurisdiction.
Only federal and tribal laws have prosecutorial authority on reservation
territory - providing a legal loophole in this case.
Therefore, Magnan, a member the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux
tribes, was removed from death row at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary
in McAlester, where he’d been for nearly 10 years.
The judgment came with the presumption that federal authorities will
intercede and re-arrest and prosecute Magnan, given the homicidal
nature of the crimes and admitted guilt in the triple murder and
wounding of other members of the Seminole Nation.
If he is ever tried federally though, it’s likely Magnan will not face the
death penalty as it is rarely imposed in federal courts.
The killings occurred in 2004 inside an inherited Seminole residence,
where family and friends had gathered to celebrate a birthday. Magnan
drove to the home with two other men, where he shot and injured Eric
Coley who’d come outside to speak to him.
Court records state Magnan then entered the house, noticed James
Howard, said “goodbye,” and shot him.
Karen Wolf and Lucilla McGirt were also shot. Lucilla died from
complications stemming from her gunshot wound two weeks later.
