Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty 3 | SEPTEMBER 2022 CANADIAN COUNTY
I-40 OR BUST
An Indiana man was caught last month allegedly
trafficking copious amounts of fentanyl pills through
the state after a traffic stop along I-40.
According to a press release from the Canadian
County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, August 15, at approximately 8:57 p.m., a deputy with the Canadian
County Sheriff’s Office stopped an eastbound 2019
Toyota Camry on Interstate 40 near Evans Road in
Canadian County. The subject was stopped after the
deputy observed the vehicle make an improper lane
change while traveling almost 20 miles per hour below
the posted speed limit. Concerned the driver might be
intoxicated, the deputy made the traffic stop.
Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy was
advised that she was traveling in a rental vehicle from Phoenix, Arizona, to St. Louis, Missouri, with her passenger, Demaury Mosea Haywood, 29, of New Haven,
Indiana.
The deputy became suspicious after the driver and Haywood gave conflicting
information about their travels and believed the two subjects might be involved
in some sort of criminal activity. The deputy asked the driver if she minded if he
searched the vehicle, to which she agreed. The deputy then proceeded back to
the 2019 Toyota Camry where he told Haywood of his suspicions, and asked Haywood if he minded if he searched the vehicle. Haywood replied “No, you cannot
search the car” denying consent.
At this point, the deputy requested the assistance of the El Reno Police Department, and an El Reno Police officer responded to the scene with his state certified
narcotics canine K9 drug detector dog. The El Reno Officer advised the Sheriff’s
deputy that upon his screen of the vehicle, his K9 had alerted positively to the
presence of drugs.
A search of the vehicle resulted in discovering five plastic vacuum sealed bags
containing approximately 60,000 fentanyl pills with a total weight of approximately
13.55 pounds. The vacuum sealed bags were located in a black “Nike” brand duffle bag in the trunk of the vehicle, along with men’s clothing and toiletries. Deputies
also located a large stack of US currency in the glove box of the vehicle wrapped
with a rubber band. Upon discovery of the currency, both subjects claimed it was
casino winnings, one stating from the roulette tables, and the other saying from
playing Black Jack. The drugs and the currency, determined to be $11,530, were
both seized.
When the deputy proceeded to arrest the subjects, Haywood claimed possession of the drugs, and added that the driver was unaware that he had the drugs
in his bags. Haywood was taken into custody and the driver was later released
with the vehicle.
During additional questioning, Haywood admitted to investigators that he had
traveled to Arizona with the intent to purchase the Fentanyl pills.
Haywood was booked into the Canadian County Jail for Trafficking Fentanyl
and his bond was set at $25,000. Haywood was able to post bond and has been
released from the county jail.
“This is a very big seizure of fentanyl and I’m extremely pleased with my deputies’ vigilance in making sure we kept these drugs from making it to the streets
. I’m also am very appreciative of the professional assistance we were provided
by the El Reno Police Department, and their drug detector dog,” said Chris West,
Canadian County Sheriff.

A South Carolina man was caught rubbing buttered toast all over his neighbor’s SUV
window. Seems like a foolproof plan, how did he get caught? According to MSN, He
just dropped the toast a few feet away from the car and made his departure, causing
a nearby woman to notice and call the police. The police charged the now hungry man
with “malicious damage to property” and estimated the cost of damage to be about $1.
What’s the hottest you’ve ever been? Temperature-wise of course, because if it was
in physical terms, we all know we were the hottest at our 5th grade, bowl-cut, chubs
stage. But really, to what extent would you go to cool off?
Hopefully not so far you’d get arrested, but this is exactly what a group of four young
men in Germany did. On a hot day, they decided to make their own pool in a car.
In a BMW no less. A policeman noticed a very strange convertible driving down the
road. Upon closer viewing, it appeared that the bathing-suit clad men were splashing
around in the water-filled car, clearly intoxicated. Though there was no law against driving around with a pool in someone’s car, they were probably charged for driving without
a permit. Talk about hot water.
What do you guys think about sausage? I suppose it’s better than a hot dog, which
in turn is better than bologna (which is basically giant hot dog slices?). And no matter
what, it has to be better than Lunchables *shudder*.
No matter your opinion, sausage was a huge disappointment for this Phoenix man.
He attempted to rob two large businesses, first an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway.
He put his hand under his shirt to look like a gun, but the cashier was not fooled and
calmly said “no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob
a Safeway, which resulted in him being escorted out of the building. He waited a few
minutes before returning into the store to snag a small breakfast sausage and was
therefore charged with shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up an appetite.
Sometimes people don’t want their babies. Throughout history, these people have
found convenient ways to get rid of them. In the middle ages, a popular solution was
to leave a swaddled infant on the doorstep of a misfortunate new parent. Worse for the
child, another option was an orphanage. In later times, parents could even put their kid
in the circus for life. The last one, I’m actually jealous of.
It might not have been this Florida woman’s goal to give away her child, but that’s
sure what it looked like. She had gone shopping at Dillard’s, and tried to shoplift $260
worth of clothing using her baby stroller. When a police officer followed her out to her
car, she flipped out and eventually threw her baby in its little carseat at him. The baby
was not injured. The shoplifter received three charges, including “resisting a police officer without violence”. Um. What would be violent, throwing her entire family?

TWO WOMEN ARRESTED WITH MORE THAN
50 POUNDS OF WEED
Two women who were transporting weed
across multiple states were stopped in Beckham County after a deputy caught them
speeding on August 27.
According to reports, Beckham County
deputies were working traffic between Sayre
and Elk City early that morning when they
clocked a vehicle traveling in excess of 90
mph headed eastbound on I-40.
A deputy stopped the vehicle near Elk City.
The vehicle’s occupants were identified as
30-year-old Brenda Kasha Bradshaw and
66-year-old Jean Catherine Forte.
While speaking to the women, the deputy
smelled the odor of marijuana coming out of
the vehicle. He deployed his K9 to sniff the vehicle. The dog alerted to the
presence of drugs inside the car. Deputies searched the vehicle and found
several bags and items of luggage containing what appeared to be marijuana.
One of the women told deputies that they were transporting the marijuana
from Compton in California to Georgia.
Both women are being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs. They are
scheduled to appear in court on October 17, 2022.
Forte’s bond was set at $50,000. Bradshaw’s mug shot and bond information was unavailable at the time of publication.
FORTE On August 4, more than three dozen incarcerated men at Dick Conner
Correctional Center in Osage County received diplomas and certificates
from Tulsa Community College. Since partnering with TCC 15 years ago,
600 men have successfully completed their higher education. Please help
us congratulate the Class of 2022!

of Congress in 2008. Each September, the Clery Center for Security On Campus partners with colleges, universities, and other agencies to offer campus safety programming – National Campus Safety Awareness Month.
Campus safety requires active participation from everyone. Do you know the name
of the head of your campus police or security department? Do you know the emergency and non-emergency numbers to the police/security department? Do you know
where you can find your college’s safety & fire policies and statistics? Thanks to the
Clery Act the answers are simple.
As a result of the horrible murder of 19-year-old Lehigh University freshman Jeanne
Ann Clery who was raped and murdered while asleep in her residence hall room on
April 5, 1986. Jeanne’s parents, Connie and Howard, discovered that students hadn’t
been told about 38 violent crimes on the Lehigh campus in the three years before
her murder. They joined with other campus crime victims and persuaded Congress
to enact this law, which was originally known as the “Crime Awareness and Campus
Security Act of 1990″.
During your daily endeavors you travel around your campus and speak with students, staff and faculty. If something doesn’t look right, sound right or feel right contact
campus safety. Believe your gut reaction. It is much better for campus safety officials
to come and find that there is nothing wrong than for a crime to occur. Sometimes
crimes can be prevented and offenders can be caught in the act because of quickthinking community members just like you.

Clinton man Andrew Dolten Arnold, 24, was
placed under arrest back in July for allegedly
threatening another man on social media. He was
later charged with intimidation of witness on August 15.
According to reports, Arnold’s former manager
told police that the man was fired after he allegedly threatened another employee with a firearm.
The manager showed officers screenshots of
posts that Arnold made on Snapchat following his
termination. One screenshot said, “Snitches get
stitches.” Another was titled “hit list” and included
names of witnesses involved with the man being
terminated from his job.
Officers made contact with Arnold and asked him about the allegations.
He admitted to making the posts. He said that he noticed someone had
taken screenshots of his posts, so he deleted them and left the state.
Arnold is being charged with intimidation of a witness. A warrant has
been issued for his arrest. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 7, 2022.

AMERICA’S DEADLIEST SHOOTINGS
ARE ONES WE DON’T TALK ABOUT
On any given day in America, an average of 63 of our mothers,
brothers, partners, and friends are taken from us by gun suicide.
But tomorrow’s deaths could be prevented. Give your loved ones
a second chance at life. Store your guns safely: locked, unloaded,
and away from ammo.
