Bad vibes
Cara Claffy, a 35-year-old New Mexico woman, was jailed after
she allegedly assaulted her own mother with a vibrator.
According to police, officers were dispatched to an Albuquerque
residence after Sheryl Claffy, 60, called to report that her
daughter, Clara, “struck her on the head with a vibrator” and
was attempting to flee the scene.
When officers arrived at the residence, Sheryl Claffy pointed
them towards a nearby truck and told them that she believed her
daughter was inside. Officers noted that the Sheryl Claffy was
“bleeding profusely” from her head.
Officers inspected the truck and found a male driver inside
with a vibrator laying on the passenger side floor. Cara Claffy was not inside the
truck, however, she was detained moments later as she exited a neighbor’s home.
During a police interview, Claffy admitted to arguing with her mother but denied
striking her with a vibrator. She then insisted that her mother’s injury was self
inflicted.
Officers interviewed Sheryl Claffy who stated that she and her daughter were
watching television when an argument ensued. That’s when her daughter allegedly
picked up a vibrator and struck her in the head with it.
Cara Claffy was booked into the Bernalillo County Jail and charged with aggravated
battery and domestic violence. Her bond has been set at $3,500.

Formal charges have been filed
in Cherokee County District Court
against a woman who stabbed her
boyfriend in the back in January.
Leeanne Rose McKee, 26, was
charged with felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Feb.
18.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the told officers he and McKee
had been arguing for several days before the incident over drug use and
income situations. On Jan. 12, he said they got into another argument and when he turned his back on her, McKee grabbed a
knife and stabbed him in the lower left side of his back, leaving
a half-inch-long stab wound. The victim continued by saying he
took the knife away from her and threw it towards the kitchen
sink.
The victim said he then sat down on a kitchen chair. McKee
then went to another bedroom and awoke a man who was sleeping, screaming, “I just stabbed Jacob!”
That man applied a roll of paper towels to the victim’s wound
and drove him to the hospital, where he was stitched up.
When the victim and witness returned home, McKee was not
there and she had apparently cleaned up the mess. Officers collected four knives that the victim believed could have been used
to stab him. They also found of a small bag of marijuana, a marijuana grinder, and a pipe in the home.
McKee was taken into custody on Feb. 19, and a $5000 bond
was required for her release. If convicted, McKee could face up
to 10 years in prison.

Charles Warner raped and
murdered 11-month-old
Adrianna Waller in 1997 in
Oklahoma County. He was
convicted in 1999. Adrianna
was the daughter of Warner’s
live-in girlfriend. During the
sentencing phase, jurors heard
testimony that he had previously
sexually and physically abused
his ex-wife and a fi ve-yearold girl. Warner’s seven-year-old son testifi ed for the
prosecution that he had witnessed his father abuse
Adrianna on previous occasions. During the ultimately
fatal attack she was sexually molested. She had a sixinch skull fracture, a broken jaw, three broken ribs,
bruised lungs and a lacerated liver and spleen.
Warner has been on death row since August 4, 2003.
Charles Warner and another inmate scheduled to
die this month, Clayton Lockett, have fi led a lawsuit
challenging the constitutionality of a state law
prohibiting disclosure of the identity of people who
provide drugs to be used in executions. It also asks that
their executions be blocked until the information is
provided, reports say.

A man and woman arrested for meth Feb. 27, after a Wagoner
County deputy pulled them over for a cracked windshield that
obstructed the driver’s view.
According to the affidavit, a Wagoner County deputy was on
patrol when he noticed the offending vehicle in the area of U.S.
Highway 69 and 700 Road.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the
driver, who refused to make eye contact with the deputy. Her
driver’s license identified her as 52-year-old Regine Lee Edwards
of Vinita.
She told the deputy that she didn’t know why he stopped her.
He explained that it was for the crack in the windshield.
The deputy also obtained identification from the passenger,
who was identified as 61-year-old Walter Lee Edwards Jr. of
Wagoner.
The deputy asked Regine Edwards to sit in his patrol vehicle to
answer some questions. She refused to make eye contact with the
deputy and her hands were trembling. He asked her if there was
anything illegal in her car and she said no.
He asked if he could search the vehicle and she told him, “I
don’t know why you should.”
He asked her again and she replied, “I guess.”
He asked her to say yes or no, and she told him “yes.”
The deputy retrieved his K9 and conducted a search of the vehicle.
During a free air sniff, the K9 alerted on the passenger side door.
The deputy searched the vehicle and found 13 small baggies of a clear crystal-like
substance. He tested three of them, and they all tested positive for methamphetamine.
They are both being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent
to distribute. They were released on $7,500 bonds. Regine Edwards is scheduled to appear in court on March 19, 2014.

A Vian man was arrested Feb. 18, after he made residents uncomfortable while he was lurking around their house looking for his $5
million.
According to the affidavit, a Sequoyah County deputy was dispatched
to the area just south of Highway 82 in reference to a male walking
around a residence.
A Vian police officer arrived shortly before the deputy and made contact with the suspect, later identified as Damariae Donzel Ware, 20.
When the deputy arrived, he noticed that Ware seemed to be very nervous and could
not stay still. He kept putting his hands in and out of his pocket.
The Vian officer told the deputy that Ware had told him that he was looking for his
money.
When the officer asked him what money, Ware allegedly replied, “My $5 million.”
They asked Ware if he had been walking around a house and he admitted that he had
been, but he wouldn’t give police an explanation.
Police asked Ware where he lived, and he told them he lived on Sanders Street. The
deputy told Ware that the people in the house didn’t want him there and he needed to
leave the area. Ware refused to leave and kept standing in front of the house.
Due to Ware’s actions, the deputy came to believe that Ware was under the influence
of drugs. Ware was not making sense when he talked and he was sweating even though
it was fairly cool outside.
The deputy told Ware he was under arrest, and Ware kept pulling away and had to be
placed in the cuffs by force.
As the deputy was placing Ware in his patrol vehicle, Ware became very resistant and
would not get in. He tried to get away from the deputy by pulling away and pushing on
the vehicle.
The deputy pulled out his Taser and drive-stunned Ware on his right thigh.
Ware eventually complied and got in the vehicle.
Ware is being charged with public intoxication and resisting an officer. He is scheduled
to appear in court on March 21, 2014.

The Bible does not specifically use the term
“child abuse.” There is no record of a single
instance in the Bible where a child is being abused.
What the Bible does tell us is this: children have
a special place in God’s heart and anyone who
harms a child is inviting God’s wrath upon Him.
When Jesus’ disciples tried to keep children from
coming to Him, He rebuked them and welcomed
little children to His side, saying, “Let the little
children come to me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14). Then He took the children in His
arms and blessed them (v. 16).
Children are abused and mistreated in several different ways, all of which
are abhorrent to God. Too many children are the victims of angry beatings
and other physical abuse as their parents take out their own anger and
frustration on their children. Anger is almost always sinful, and anyone
who abuses a child in anger commits multiplied sins. “An angry man stirs
up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins” (Proverbs
29:22). There is no place for unrighteous anger in the life of a Christian,
as Paul reminds the Ephesians: “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the
sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold”
(Ephesians 4:26-27). Anger should be confessed to God long before it comes
to the point of physical abuse against a child or anyone else.
Psychological and emotional abuse is also forbidden in Scripture.
Ephesians 6:4 warns fathers not to “exasperate” or provoke their children,
but to bring them up in the “training and instruction of the Lord.” Harsh,
unloving discipline alienates children’s minds from their parents and
renders their instructions and corrections useless. In addition, it often leads
to sin against God, as it is difficult in the best of children to be angry and
yet not sin. Parents can provoke and exasperate their children by placing
unreasonable requirements on them, belittling them, or constantly finding
fault, thereby producing wounds that are far worse than any physical
beating can inflict. Colossians 3:21 tells us not to “embitter” our children so
they will not become discouraged. Ephesians 4:15-19 says we are to speak
the truth in love and use our words to build others up, not allow rotten or
destructive words to pour from our lips, especially toward the tender hearts
and minds of children.
So, even though the Bible does not specifically mention child abuse, it is
abundantly clear how God feels about the issue. Anyone who suspects a child
is being abused has the obligation to report it to appropriate authorities.

An Oklahoma City attorney is facing prison time after being arrested inside the Oklahoma County jail. The Sheriff’s
office says the investigation when a female inmate told deputies the man she thought was her attorney was engaging in
sexual acts during visitations.
Deputies arrested Frank Kirk, 70, on Monday after setting
up a sting that caught him on audio tape with the inmate. Investigators say the inmate originally contacted Kirk in January about representing her, but it turns out he never filed to
be her attorney of record.
“Kirk told the victim that since she didn’t have the cash to pay for his services she could make it up to him by performing sexual acts instead,” said
Sheriff John Whetsel.
Sheriff Whetsel said the investigation revealed the Kirk only pretended to
represent the woman who was in jail on drug charges. She discovered the ruse
when the public defender’s office contacted her about her case. That’s when
the woman talked to deputies and agreed to assist in the investigation.
Investigators say the woman met with Kirk inside the jail and he is heard on
audio tape making advances towards her. The sheriff’s office says the woman
was told to use the phrase “my pants are too tight” to signal deputies to enter
the room. “During his visit, Kirk furnished her with lubricating jelly and a sex
toy and as this began our investigators opened the door and arrested Frank
Kirk immediately.”
According to court documents the female inmate told investigators that Kirk
coerced her into performing sexual acts while he watched at least four times.

Marcus Wayne Hall, age 42, of Muskogee pled guilty to possession of certain material involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
Charges arose from an investigation by the Colorado Springs
Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Hall was indicted in June 2013.
The Indictment alleged that between in or about November 2011
and March 1, 2012, did knowingly possess and attempt to possess
matters that contained visual depictions, the production of said
visual depictions involved the use of minors engaging in sexually
explicit conduct, and said visual depictions were of such sexually explicit conduct, and
had been transported in interstate commerce by computer.
The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court
for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the guilty plea and ordered
the completion of a pre-sentence report.
Sentencing will be scheduled following its completion. Hall will remain in the custody
of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
The statutory range of punishment is up to 10 years’ imprisonment and/or up to a
$250,000 fine.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt issued a consumer alert for crime victims to re-register for notices after data in a Pardon and Parole Board
notification system was corrupted.
“It is important for victims of crime and their families to stay informed
about what’s happening with these violent criminals,” Attorney General
Pruitt said. “The Victim Services Unit at the AG’s Office is asking all victims of crime and their families to re-register their information to ensure they are notified of important court and hearing information.”

OSBI investigative and crime
scene agents were working a deadly
police-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on
March 6 in Okmulgee. The Okmulgee Police Department requested
OSBI assistance.
The shooting occurred when an
Okmulgee police officer attempted
to make a traffic stop on the driver
of a 1993 Yukon sports utility vehicle in the area of 4th and Woodlawn. The driver was later identified
as James E. Stutchman, 28.
Several other officers joined the pursuit. Stutchman exited the
vehicle with a firearm. Police shot and killed the man. How many
officers fired their weapon is still under investigation. The driver
of the vehicle died at the scene, located in the 1300 block of east
1st Street. Stutchman’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Tulsa for autopsy.
OSBI investigative agents will interview multiple witnesses
while crime scene agents process the scene and collect evidence
of the shooting. The investigative agent will present his findings
to the district attorney once the investigation is completed. The
district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified. OSBI
will not release the name of the officers involved in the shooting
since they are the subjects of the investigation. If officers are arrested or charged for the shooting death, those names will become
public record.

Awareness Month
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a special report, The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS): 2010 Summary Report, which expands upon
data from the original NISVS summary report released in 2012. The
complete report is available on the CDC’s website at http://www.cdc.
gov/violenceprevention/nisvs/.
Below are some key sexual violence-related findings that the National Sexual Violence Resource Center would like to share:
PREVALENCE OF IPV
• Sexual violence is common among intimate partners. Nearly 1 in
10 women in the United States (9.4%) has been raped by an intimate
partner in her lifetime, including completed forced penetration, attempted forced penetration, or alcohol/drug-facilitated completed
penetration. (Page 1)
• Approximately 1 in 6 women and 1 in 12 men in the U.S. have
experienced sexual violence other than rape by an intimate partner
during their lifetime. (Page 13)
• The lifetime prevalence of rape, physical violence, or stalking by
an intimate partner is higher for both women of color and men of
color than for white non-Hispanics. (Pages 27, 29)
PREVENTION AND VICTIMIZATION
• Most IPV starts before age 25, so primary prevention of IPV must
begin at an early age. (Page 73)
• Adolescent victims: 1 in 5 female victims and 1 in 7 male victims
who experience rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate
partner were first victimized between the ages of 11 and 17 years old.

• College-aged victims: Approximately 14.8% of women and 9.8%
of men (18 to 24 years old) experienced rape, physical violence, or
stalking by an intimate partner. (Page 33)
• The link between sexual violence and housing: 10% of women
and 7.9% of men who experienced housing insecurity in the past
12 months had a significantly higher 12-month prevalence of rape,
physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner when compared
with women and men who did not experience housing insecurity.

SERVICES
• Help (such as medical care, housing services, victim’s advocate
services, community services, and legal services) is needed: 44.9%
of female victims and 65.7% of males who said they needed services
reported that they never received the services they needed. (Page 56)

Lately I’ve noticed that a lot
of the motoring public is having
trouble properly signaling for, and making turns. I’ve also noticed,
that when people do properly signal and make turns, a lot of others
who are in a hurry, seem to not pay attention to those signals or
turns, resulting in a lot of near-hits and actual accidents...some
with very tragic consequences. Today I’m going to talk about how
to properly signal, prepare for and execute turns on the roadway,
as well some common sense for those drivers who are in too much
of a hurry to slow down for those turning.
First, lets address state law on signaling. Oklahoma State
Statutes Title 47-11-601 and 11-604 outline the requirements for
turning movements and required signals, but the short version is
this. When turning left you must position yourself as close to the
left side of the furthest left lane of travel in your direction, and must
turn to the closest lane to you. Don’t cut the corner! When turning
right, you must position yourself as close to the right hand curb or
edge of the roadway, and also turn to the closest lane to you!
Now that we know the proper positions, lets talk about those
signals. A signal to turn right or left is required to be given
continuously for not less than the last 100 feet traveled by the
vehicle before turning. Furthermore, no person shall stop or
suddenly decrease speed without FIRST giving an appropriate
signal! How many times have you seen a vehicle slow down in
front of you for a long way, and then turn on the blinker just as
they start their turn? How many times have you done it?
Lastly, lets talk about other driver’s requirements after a
vehicle has done everything proper in preparing and signaling
for a turn. The last part of 47-11-604 says that when any person
is properly preparing for, attempting or executing a left turn, no
other person immediately following such vehicle shall pass or
attempt to pass the turning vehicle to the left. Such person shall
come to a complete stop if necessary at a safe distance behind that
person turning. Also, it is unlawful to pass this turning vehicle on
the shoulder to the right as well.
So if you are coming up on a vehicle that is slowing, ask yourself,
why are they slowing or stopping? Is someone in front of them
turning? Is something going on that I would need to reduce speed
for as well? This is what a safe and courteous driver would do, but
all to often, people zip out to pass those slowed vehicles, and end
up having a vehicle turn right in front of them, with disastrous
results! Please, use your blinkers properly, make proper turns,
and don’t be in such a hurry! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and
