BURGLARY - SECOND DEGREE
A Pryor man was arrested in Claremore after a police found him asleep in
a stolen car on the the side of the road
in the early morning hours of April 4.
A Claremore police officer was patrolling Lake Park Drive when he saw a car
parked on the side of the road around
2 a.m.
According to the affidavit, Lake Park
has a curfew of 10 p.m., so the officer
stopped to see what was going on. He first checked the vehicle tag -- dispatch advised it came back as stolen.
The officer approached the vehicle and found 23-year-old
David Jeremiah Heber asleep in the backseat. He asked the
man if the car was his. Heber said no.
The officer then placed the man in handcuffs and asked if
he had any drugs on his person. Heber said, “Not on me.” He
then admitted that there were some drugs in the vehicle. Heber also told the officer that he stole the car from his friend’s
father while in Tulsa the day before.
The officer found Heber’s bag, and inside was a metal marijuana pipe, rolling papers, a small baggy containing a green
leafy substance which field-tested positive for marijuana
and eight small bundles of weed.
Heber is being charged with possession of stolen vehicle,
possession of controlled dangerous substance with intent to
distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $7,500, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on April 17, 2015.

Co.) and John Grellner (Caddo Co.) were patrolling Ft. Cobb
Lake when they observed a suspect in an inflatable kayak
with a gill net. The suspect attached the gill net to one of

shore.
Wardens made contact with the suspect and seized a 150
ft. long gill net from the lake, along with the kayak and numerous Channel Catfish, Striped bass hybrids, White bass
and an assortment of non-game fish.
Charges are pending, in District Court, including multiple

Tahlequah police are on the lookout for a man who
robbed a disabled person.
A warrant has been issued for and charges have been filed
against Joshua Ivey, 27, in Cherokee County District Court.
Police need your help finding him.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim said
he noticed Ivey outside Family Video on E. Downing Street
clutching his stomach. When the victim asked Ivey what
was wrong, he told the victim he had an ulcer but could not
afford his medicine. The victim said he would help pay for
his medicine and they went to a pharmacy where they purchased the medicine, using the victim’s ID.
The victim then reported they were outside EZ Mart and
Ivey asked the victim for a dollar. The victim took money
out of his pocket and Ivey asked him if he wanted some crank. Just then, Ivey snatched
the money out of the victim’s hand and ran to a 1980’s or 90’s purple Blazer. The vehicle
then headed toward the river.
The victim told police he needed his money back because of his own medical condition
and being disabled.
If you know where Ivey is located, please call the Tahlequah Police Department at
(918) 456-8801.

KNOWINGLY CONCEALING
STOLEN PROPERTY
A Tulsa man was taken into custody
April 14 after he allegedly robbed a man
at knifepoint on April 2.
Deland Ray Sam, 52, was charged
April 9 with robbery with a weapon and
assault and battery in Muskogee County
District Court.
According to the police affidavit, the
victim was approached by Sam, who
brandished a knife, and attempted to
take the victim’s medication from him. When the victim refused to hand over his medication, Sam allegedly kicked the
victim in the ribs and punched him in the back of his head.
He then tried to pull the victim from his vehicle with the assistance of two others.
At that time, a witness came outside and the trio jumped
into an SUV and sped off.
When Muskogee police finally caught up to Sam on April
14, a short chase and struggle ensued. Officers found a clear
plastic baggie containing a white powder in his possession; it
was believed to be meth. They also found 60 empty baggies
in his possession.
Sam has a long criminal record dating back to at least
1980, and charges of endangering others while eluding/
attempting to elude police officer, possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing officer, were
added to his rap sheet.
He is currently being held in the Muskogee County jail
without bond.

On April 11 Game Wardens Kody Moore, of
Delaware County, and Monte Reid, of Mayes
County, assisted the Mayes county sheriffs office with a major case.
There had been a home invasion by two
suspects in Pryor where they assaulted the
owner and stole his Chevy Avalanche, along
with an AR15 and pistol.
A landowner in the country reported his
neighbor’s gate being rammed open with vehicle and pieces were laying around it. When
the Wardens arrived, there was a set of tire
tracks going in but none coming out. Moore
and Reid followed the tracks straight to the
stolen vehicle and a major manhunt ensued.
The Wardens assisted other agencies with
the manhunt for about six hours until both
suspects were taken into custody and charged
with multiple felonies.
The two men were later identified as Brett
Bellamy and David Foster of Coffeyville.

A Jay man allegedly attacked and choked his
girlfriend when she went home on her lunch
break on April 9. He claimed he was just defending himself while sitting on the porcelain throne.
A Jay police officer was dispatched to Walmart
around 3 p.m. According to the affidavit, he was
advised an employee had been involved in a domestic dispute earlier in the afternoon.
The victim’s face was “swollen with redness.”
She told the officer she went home on her lunch break around 1 p.m.
She and her boyfriend, 41-year-old Brian Morris, had been arguing
for a couple days. When she walked inside the house, she said he
was trying to be nice to her, but she told him she wasn’t in the mood.
The woman said she thought he might be doing drugs in the bathroom, because she could hear “glass touching something.” She said
she asked him what he was doing, and he walked out of the bathroom. They started arguing, and the woman said Morris threw a
pitcher of tea at the back of her head. He then pushed her down and
started slapping her face.
She said she tried to defend herself by scratching and hitting him,
but he grabbed her by the throat and choked her until she became
“light headed.” He also put his hand over her mouth and nose, which
made it hard for her to breathe.
The woman said Morris held her down for approximately 30 minutes.
When police talked to Morris, he told them, “I defended myself
-- she attacked me while I was on the toilet.”
An officer asked him if he hit the victim. He said it was self defense.
Morris added, “I did grab her by the throat, but I had to defend
myself.”
The officer noticed scratches on the man’s body.
Morris said the victim scratched him, and that’s why he had to
defend himself.
Morris is being charged with domestic assault and battery by
strangulation. He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on April 17, 2015.

A sexual assault occurs every 2 seconds in the United States. While both
men and women are susceptible to becoming victims of sexual violence, a
CDC survey revealed that 1 in 5 U.S. women have been raped during their
lifetime and 1 in 2 have encountered some form of sexual violence.
Unfortunately, sexual assault incidents are reported less frequently than
any other violent crime as only a small percentage of victims are willing
to step forward to report their experience and involve the criminal justice
process.
Protecting yourself by being informed about the dangers in your area
and understanding preventative measures are critical to prevent victimization.
The National Crime Prevention Council and AlertID offer the following
9 tips to help protect women from becoming victims:
1. Be aware of your surroundings - become a member of AlertID
for free at www.AlertID.com to stay informed of the sex offender, current
crime alerts and up to the minute warnings from neighbors in any area
important to you.
2. Avoid walking or jogging alone – particularly at night. Additionally,
vary your route and stay in well-traveled, well-lighted areas.
3. Walk with confidence - the more confident you look, the stronger
you appear.
4. Be wary of isolated spots –underground garages, offices after business hours, and apartment laundry rooms.
5. Have your key ready to use before you reach the door – this includes
home, car, or work.
6. Drive on well-traveled streets with doors and windows locked.
7. Trust your instincts - if you feel uncomfortable in your surroundings, leave the area immediately.
8. In the event you have car trouble - call for help on your cell phone or
if you don’t have a phone, put the hood up, set road flares, lock the doors,
turn on the hazard lights, and wait for a public service worker to assist you.
For more prevention tips and resource information on Sexual Assault
from AlertID, developed in conjunction with the National Crime Prevention Council, please visit: http://alertid.com/search/sex-crimes.asp
Victim support resources are especially important functions of the recovery process for all survivors of sexual violence. If you are sexually assaulted, it is not your fault. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or support.

Drunk Wagoner man Billy Aaron Dunkin, 38, allegedly ripped open
a window at a residence and attacked the homeowner on April 2.
When police approached him about the incident, Dunkin continued his rampage and called officers “mother f------.”
According to the police report, a Wagoner officer was dispatched to
the 100 block of S. Taylor Street around 10 p.m. to check out a disturbance. A man told him he caught Dunkin in his residence. He said he
went to the store and when he returned home, he saw a trashcan at
his window. The screen on the window was ripped and Dunkin was
standing inside his house.
When he asked Dunkin what he was doing in his house, Dunkin
told him the front door was open. The man went to check, and he
found that the front door was still close and locked.
When the man went to confront Dunkin about the lie, they started fighting. Dunkin then
left the residence.
When police found the suspect, he appeared to be intoxicated and wouldn’t talk about the
incident. When an officer told Dunkin he was under arrest for public intox and burglary, the
man became combative. He yelled at the officers, “Mother f------, let me go!”
No such luck.
When the officer tried to put the man in the patrol vehicle, he continued to fight and struggle. He pushed his legs against the car door and acted like he was going to hit the officer in
the head.
Dunkin also yelled and spit at the officer and called him a stupid “f-----.”
Although the officer finally got the belligerent man all buckled up, Dunkin kicked his leg up
into the front seat as though he was trying to kick him. The officer readjusted the man and
continued on his way to jail.
When they arrived, he conducted an inventory of the man’s belongings and found a smoking pipe with a burnt residue.
During booking, Dunkin continued to argue and fight with officers. He also kept “spitting
and flinging snot” at officers.
Dunkin is being charged with burglary in the second degree, resisting an officer, unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. His bond was set at $10,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on May 7, 2015.

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Its no coincidence that in the
very first Tips From a Trooper
article I wrote about Oklahoma’s
Move Over law. It is one of the single most important laws on
the books for the safety of our Emergency Response professionals
as they do their jobs on and around the roads of Oklahoma. Due
to several recent incidents, I want to re-introduce everyone to
this law! I’m talking Oklahoma State Statute Title 47, Chapter
11-314: Approaching a stationary emergency vehicle, wrecker, or
tow vehicle displaying flashing lights. What this law states is that
when approaching an emergency vehicle such as a law enforcement
vehicle, ambulance, fire truck, wrecker or tow truck, which has its
emergency lights activated (red and blue lights, or any combination
of), you, the courteous driver, shall do the following:
•On roadways with more than one lane traveling in the same
direction, you shall move to the adjacent lane if possible. This
means if you have two lanes available to you, when you approach
an emergency vehicle with lights activated, you will move from the
lane closest to the emergency vehicle to the lane farthest away from
the emergency vehicle, provided you can do so safely. Usually this
will be from the right hand lane to the left hand lane, because the
most common occurrence of this will be when you are passing a
Trooper or other Law Enforcement Officer who has a driver stopped
on the shoulder of the roadway. If you are not able to change lanes
to move away from the emergency vehicle, perhaps because there is
already a car occupying that lane next to you, then you shall reduce
your speed and proceed with caution.
•On roadways that have only one lane of travel for each direction,
in other words, your basic two lane highway or road, you are
required to simply reduce your speed in your lane and proceed with
caution.
•If you are found in violation of this law, the fine currently is
$211.50.
Just this year, we have had several Troopers hit, and Trooper
Nicholas Dees lost his life while working an accident on I-40 to a
distracted driver who did not obey this law. Trooper Keith Burch
was seriously injured in the same tragic accident, and has a long
recovery ahead. Most recently, Trooper Gary Sanders was hit while
on a traffic stop by another distracted driver, and nearly lost his
life. Aside from being a law, this just makes common sense. Part
of being a safe and courteous driver means looking out for others
on or near the roadway. Pay attention and MOVE OVER or SLOW
DOWN, those are some easy things to do to put emergency service
professionals at ease! Thanks for reading, buckle up and please
drive safe!

Vinita man Tommy Dale Jones Jr., 28, called police officers “fat
f----” when they showed up to arrest him for slapping his brother’s hat off on April 11.
According to the affidavit, Vinita police were dispatched to the
300 block of S. Adair Street at approximately 5:57 p.m. for a domestic assault. When an officer arrived, a man told him his brother, identified as Jones, slapped his hat off.
While police were speaking to the victim, Jones started yelling
and cussing at officers. He tried to intimidate the officers by “flexing and getting into their faces.”
An officer kept telling Jones to sit down. He would, but then he
would stand up again.
Jones then yelled at police, “There is not enough of you fat f--
-- here to arrest me.” He also told them he wasn’t going to jail
without a fight.
Jones continued to disobey police commands, and he kept “flexing at officers.”
An officer told Jones if he didn’t sit down and let them complete their investigation, officers
were going to take him to jail. The man refused, so the officer placed him under arrest, and
Jones tried to pull and jerk away from the officer. The officer was able to place the man in
handcuffs, but once they got to jail, Jones kicked an officer in the leg.
Jones is being charged with assault and battery on police officer, resisting a police officer
and obstructing officer. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on April 22, 2015.

When a mugger tried to rob her friend, 92-year-old Eileen Mason just had her
mobility scooter – and her no-nonsense attitude.
Eileen and 75-year-old Margaret Seabrook, both from Swindon, Wiltshire, England, were returning home from a lunch club meeting when a thief appeared from
behind a fence and eyed up the contents of Margaret’s basket.
But the robber didn’t know who he was dealing with.
‘Oh no you don’t!’ was Eileen’s battle cry as she accelerated on her scooter.
The would-be thief ‘went flying’, said Eileen, who has four children, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
‘We went through the war and all the bombings. We won’t let a weasel like that
hold us back.’
Crocs plastic shoes left tread marks that helped link a 22-year-old Fairbanks man
to downtown burglaries, authorities said.
The owner of a building where some break-ins occurred provided surveillance footage to police, who posted it on the department’s Facebook page. Roland Huntington
Grace name was among several mentioned by tipsters, according to authorities.
According to the court documents, Grace wore Crocs during a police interview and
the shoes matched the tread pattern found at the scene.
Grace faces charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the
burglaries reported earlier this month, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner newspaper
reported.
Online court records don’t have an attorney listed for him. Charging documents
say Grace admitted to the burglaries.
The owner of The Crepery reported on April 1 that someone stole about $400 from
a cash register after breaking into the restaurant. A minister at the Church of Christ
reported April 2 that someone stole about $30 after prying open several locked
doors. Another burglary at The Crepery was reported April 3, with $5 in change taken. A worker at the art gallery across the hall told responding police that there was a
burglary at that shop as well, and that $1,000 of artists’ jewelry was taken.
According to authorities, two necklaces matching the description of jewelry taken
from the gallery were recovered from Grace.

When a would-be bank robber arrives at his heist
destination by taxi, there’s a pretty good chance the holdup
is going to go awry.
Plus, it probably doesn’t help if he’s extremely drunk, too.
That’s exactly what happened when Stanley Geddie rolled
up to a Tallahassee, Fla., bank in a cab, told the manager
he had a .357 handgun AND C4 plastic explosives, and
demanded $100,000.
Other employees grew concerned when the manager closed
his office door while speaking with Geddie and that’s when
police were contacted.
First, cops approached the taxi driver, who said Geddie was
a hot mess. Not only was the 46-year-old wasted, but he also
didn’t pay the $25.50 fare.
Then, officers surrounded the bank and told Geddie to
surrender. When he refused, police tased him. Court records
state that when he was told that he would be shot if he made any sudden movements Geddie said “well
then kill me.”
Thankfully, Geddie was lying about the gun and explosives.
The unsuccessful thief was arrested and charged with robbery, petty theft and resisting arrest.

Peoria man Donald Dee Kidwell Jr., 57, allegedly
test drove a motorcycle in December, but never took
the vehicle back to the owner. He was arrested for
the stolen vehicle after an officer found it parked on
his property.
According to the affidavit, a Weir, Kansas, officer
contacted an Ottawa County deputy on April 2 and
told him a motorcycle was stolen from the area, and
he had information that the vehicle had been spotted
in Peoria.
The officer told the deputy that the vehicle was allegedly stolen sometime in December. The victim
said two men met with him to test drive the vehicle;
the motorcycle never returned.
After looking around town for the bike, police received an anonymous phone
call that the motorcycle was parked at Kidwell’s residence.
The next day around 1 a.m., police went to the residence and sure enough, there
was the stolen motorcycle.
Kidwell wasn’t too pleased to see police at his place. When they told him they
were there because of the motorcycle, he told them to get the “son of a bitch” out
of his yard. Kidwell told the officers the victim had brought the bike to his home
“two or three days ago.”
Police said they didn’t believe him, because the man had just been released
from jail.
Kidwell said he was sticking to his story, because it was the truth.
Kidwell is being charged with possession of stolen auto. His bond was set at
$100,000, and he is schedule to appear in court on April 22, 2015.
That’s my story and
I’m sticking to it
