A Tahlequah man’s night of fun
landed him in county lockup for
Christmas and the New Year after
he threatened to kill three police
officers.
Tahlequah police officer Chance
Davis and NSU campus police officer
Joe Roberts worked together to
arrest Bobby Joe Ross, 49, for felony
assault and other violence-related
complaints. Davis was dispatched
to a domestic disturbance on the
500 block of Circle Street, where
Ross reportedly threatened to kill a
woman and slashed her tires with a
kitchen knife.
Ross came around the corner of the woman’s home with a
machete and screamed at police.
“Here I am motherf----r!” he said. Davis told Ross to drop the
machete, but Ross kept shouting expletives and tried to wield the
machete at the officer.
Cherokee Nation marshal Ralph Travis then tased Ross in the
chest, which made him fall to the floor. However, Ross didn’t
learn his lesson and tried to pick up the machete again, which
ended with a second shot of the taser. He, Davis and Roberts then
handcuffed him. This still didn’t stop Ross, who kept screaming
threats at the officers and said he “wasn’t afraid” to go back to
prison, adding that he had been looking for a chance to kill police
since his release from prison.
Ross also told them he would be glad to tell a judge he
threatened the officers’ lives.
The officers took him into custody Dec. 22, and Ross didn’t
appear in court until Jan. 4 for a bond reduction hearing, where
his bond was reduced to $50,000.
Ross has a court date set for 9 a.m. Feb. 4.

A Tahlequah man’s love of video games landed him in
custody for theft Jan. 14.
Around 2 p.m. Jan. 8, officer Shawn Presley was assigned
to investigate a burglary, which occurred at the 100 block
of North Ash Avenue. A man said someone got into his car
and stole a pocket watch, a Swiss Army knife, two pocket
knives, an Xbox 360, an Xbox controller, an Assassins Creed
III video game and an iPod with a Vans sticker on the back.
Presley called a local store and learned that Ryan Adair,
33, sold them an Xbox 360 matching the man’s description.
Adair also tried to sell the store the game controller, but he
threw it away when the store said it didn’t want it.
Surveillance video positive identified Adair as the Xbox
seller, according to the incident report. Moreover, Presley
reported there were multiple car burglaries in the area over the past few days. In those
cases, a victim said the burglar took Mexican coins.
Adair was arrested on a charge of knowingly concealing stolen property. He has
previous convictions of first-degree burglary, attempting to elude, domestic abuse and
malicious injury to property. He received a six-year deferred sentence, which will end
in September 2014, according to his rap sheet. Due to the new charge, the state has
filed paperwork to revoke Adair’s probation.
He remains in custody for his latest charge on a $10,000 bond and has a court date
set for 9 a.m. Feb. 27.

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
As a Trooper, we see a lot of stuff
driving the roads of Oklahoma
everyday. I’m going to discuss
some stuff that I have seen, or have
heard from other Troopers’ stuff they have seen. Some of this stuff
will have you shaking your head, but each and every thing I am going
to talk about today has the potential to cause an accident and hurt
or kill people. Some of you will read this and wonder if I am talking
about you! I’m talking about things that fall under the category of
inattention.
I’ll start with the usual...talking on a cell phone. A significant
portion of the driving population talk on their cells while driving, and
while it is not against the law, it does divide a driver’s attention from
the roadway. Divided attention slows reaction time. Slower reaction
time can be the difference between a near-hit or an accident! Take it
a step further, and you have texting while driving. There is a national
campaign going on addressing this very dangerous activity. Not only
is your attention divided, but usually your sight is divided between a
screen and the roadway...not a good situation. With texting becoming
a normal form of communication, this problem will continue, and it
has and will cost lives.
Now to some other stuff. I’ve worked crashes where someone was
passing food they had just got at the drive-thru back to their children...
as well as people eating while driving. I’ve seen and worked crashes
involving some ladies putting make-up on while driving....same
context as texting, the eyes are divided up between the mirror and
the road. Guys, you have your own version, using an electric razor to
shave while driving!
Finally, some out of the ordinary stuff. I’ve seen people driving
down the road, with a novel or magazine sitting on the steering
wheel so they can read it while driving! Does that sound safe to
you? Obviously they weren’t seeing everything on the road, because
they didn’t see the Trooper right next to them! Also, watching a
movie has been the culprit of some distracted driving. There is even
a law that forbids a TV screen to be in the driver’s view.
All of these examples are instances of inattentive driving, and all
have caused accidents. How many of them have you done yourself? If
you have an accident while doing one of these or similar activities,
will the loved one of someone killed think that was a good reason for
them to die?
At a minimum, you crash and we give you a citation for inattentive
driving that results in an accident. Operating a 4500 lb plus vehicle
requires your undivided attention, and we owe it to the others on the
road as well as yourself, to give it.
Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

Corey W: they still have all that hanging on the
fence..to me its morbid in a way..but it was low to
disrespect the dead like that..guy was prob out of
his mind from hunger and drugs..
Lisa W: Being homeless does not justify stealing
from the memorial. those ppl and their families
have suffered enough without some idiot stealing
their memorials!!
Bethany H: Some people have no respect. A 39 year
old man should know better than all that.
Rich L: Homelessness is no excuse.
Kelli E: What a disrespectful PIG!
Kristi C: I don’t see anywhere that says he’s
homeless...all I see is that he is from Spencer.
Sergio C: his actions were disrepecful and his
attitude very disturbing and his behivor nasty and
perverted..........
Lm L: Look at all of these people making excuses
for him!! Disgraceful!!
Cande J: Do people not know what respect is

the book at him for being so rude ans disrespectful!
And shame on the people for giving him excuses!
And u wonder why our country is the way it is!
Glenna W: He is responsible for this action he
performed. No one else. He is a grown ass man.
Just one of many without any respect for anyone.
And that spitting is as gross as it gets. I’ve had
enough if these low life’s
Kelly B: I think the law should be if u kill someone

someone..
Roger S: no ones making excuses ....didn’t know we

Rick J: @ Corey he had a hamburger but I agree
possibly drugs but definitely a thief
Jessica W: He doesn’t need assistance Roger he
needs to get a job!!!!!! He’s 39!!!!! And he needs to
learn respect! That’s probably why he is roaming
streets stealing and spitting on people bc he was
never taught respect, discipline, and how to work
for what he needs and wants!!!!! Geez!!!!!!!
Jessica W: And he was stealing from a federal
memorial...Obvious isn’t physically harming
anyone but i can only imagine what else this doofus
will do! Uh... no Matt we don’t need you for okc

Corey W: ya u are right..he did manage to hussle

and ate it...maby he would have simply passed out
then..ha
Robert S: Throw the book at this *&%$. Worthless
people irritate me. This is one of them.
Jamie B: How disrespectful and sad. 🙁
A Spencer man was arrested for taking items from
the OKC Bombing Memorial fence and spitting on
a visitor to the memorial, according to police.
A witness told police he spotted Dominique
Polk, 39, taking necklaces and other items from
the fence at the memorial. The fence outside the
memorial on Harvey Street has become a place
where people leave mementos to remember those
lost in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
The witness said after he spotted Polk taking the
items, he attempted to stall Polk until federal
security guards could arrive. That’s when the
man said Polk spit in his face, then walked a short
distance away and unwrapped a cheeseburger,
leaving the wrapper on the bombing grounds.
Federal security guards then called OKC police and Polk was arrested on
suspicion of assault and battery, larceny and littering.

Sequoyah County sheriff’s deputies say a Vian man
nearly killed a woman and threatened the safety of her
child on Dec. 17.
Investigator George Bormann received a call from
deputy Greg Peters about a shooting that occurred
south of Sallisaw, and Peters said Raymond Stahl, 26,
had already been taken into custody. The victim was
life-flighted to a hospital, Peters said.
Bormann arrived at the residence and saw a towel
with bloodstains on it. Peters said Stahl had the woman
in his lap and was using it to stop the bleeding from a
gunshot wound.
Bormann went into a bedroom of the house to take
photographs and saw a .22 caliber pistol lying on the
bed. Peters pulled back the slide, revealing a live round
was ejected, according to the affidavit. Bormann also found a child’s bloodstained
sock at the scene, he said.
Bormann then picked up a camouflage jacket and pulled a black film canister from
a pocket, which had two bags of methamphetamine inside it. Stahl said the drug was
salt that he was going to sell as if it were actually drugs.
Investigator Cindy Smith went to the Sequoyah Memorial Hospital to see the woman, who had a gunshot wound to her left chest area. The woman said she couldn’t
breathe and a nurse said her lung was collapsed, which led to her transport to St.
Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Stahl admitted shooting the woman because of personal problems. He believed
she was seeing other men and told the officers he was frustrated with her as a result.
The day of the shooting, Stahl said he smoked a joint and did a line of methamphetamine before he put the gun by the couch in the living room. He woke up later that
day and began arguing with the woman, then poked the gun in her chest and shot
her, according to the affidavit.
Stahl was previously convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon on Jan. 14,
2010. He received a deferred sentence, but after the new charge, the state has applied to revoke his probation.
Stahl remains in custody. He will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. March 4.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers arrested a Roland man for his third DUI on
Dec. 29.
Trooper Kyle Henson was patrolling a road south of U.S. 64 and saw a car stopped
in the middle of the road. Henson initiated a stop and the car pulled to the shoulder
of the road. He approached the driver, Steven Just, 38, and became overwhelmed
with the smell of alcohol coming from inside the car.
Henson asked Just for his license, but Just said he left his license at home.
Suspicious of a DUI, Henson asked Just to sit in his patrol car, and even after Just sat,
the smell of alcohol didn’t go away. Moreover, Just blew a .20 and a .17 blood alcohol
concentration when he got to the police department, according to the affidavit.
Just was previously convicted of a DUI and causing an accident while intoxicated
in 2008. He received a one-year suspended sentence, which ran concurrently. In the
DUI, he was arrested in Muldrow after a Sequoyah County sheriff’s deputy initiated a
traffic stop. The deputy smelled alcohol on his breath and Just could barely walk out
of the car safely. That time, he didn’t take the breath test, according to the affidavit. Also, in 2005, Just caused
an injury accident in Muldrow while drunk. That time, he crashed into a ditch and then started throwing beer
into the ditch so he wouldn’t be caught with alcohol, court records show.
He also has a domestic abuse conviction, which stemmed from an offense in December 2007. In that case,
a woman said Just threw her to the floor and put his hand over her mouth so she couldn’t call for help. Just
was upset that the woman wouldn’t have sex with him and accused her of cheating on him, according to the
affidavit.
Just posted bond for his latest DUI on New Year’s Eve and he has a court date set for Feb. 13 at 9 a.m.
New year, same old charges

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

OBSCENE MATERIAL
18 febrUARY, 2013 ADAIR COUNTY Innocent Until Proven Guilty
There are times in our life when
others hurt or anger us. We sometimes
feel a strong desire to settle the score.
Proverbs 20:22 says Do not say, ‘I’ll
pay you back for this wrong!’ Wait for
the Lord and he will deliver you.”
The feelings that drive us to revenge
are powerful and strong, their
destructive nature can consume us.
The Bible responds with a “Do not...”
statement, not just a word of teaching
or advice but this verse is worded with
the strength of a command.
We would be better off to stifle the
thoughts of revenge early and quickly;
we should not even speak about it. When thoughts of revenge come we should
redirect them to thoughts of waiting on the Lord.
There are many reasons why we need to wait for the Lord to act. To wait without
giving in or compromise is a statement of faith. To wait is a testimony that we
believe in the promises of God and his commitment to us.
We are to wait, not for time to heal all wounds, or wait for an opportunity, or
wait for the sake of waiting, we are to wait for The Lord. We wait on purpose
for the one who created all things and has power to change all things, he is the
one who rules the universe and will judge the hearts of all men. We wait and we
should focus on the Lord and not our anger.
This verse ends with a conditional promise. The condition of course is not to
act on our desire to get revenge but to wait for the Lord instead. The promise is
that he will deliver. It suggest that the Lord will make things right, but it is not
specific; will the Lord deliver us from our enemies, or the situation or maybe
more importantly from ourselves and our bitterness?
As much as we need to be delivered from our own enemies we also need to be
delivered from our desire for revenge. It may be that even though God is a just
God he is more interested in changing our natures than balancing justice. He
allows circumstances in our lives to give us the challenges we need to grow. He
may sometimes deliver us not from our oppressors but from ourselves.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt
on Jan. 7 fi led a request with
the Oklahoma Court of Criminal
Appeals to set an execution date
for Mayes County death row
inmate Steven Ray Thacker, 42.
The U.S. Supreme Court
denied Thacker’s fi nal appeal on
Monday.
In December 2002,
Thacker pleaded guilty to the
kidnapping, rape and fi rstdegree murder of Laci Dawn
Hill, 25, of Bixby.
Thacker met Hill in her
home on Dec. 23, 1999, after
answering an ad Hill placed
to sell a pool table. When his attempt to rob Hill failed, Thacker
kidnapped her and took her to a rural cabin and raped her. Thacker
attempted to strangle Hill, but eventually stabbed her in the chest
and neck. Thacker fl ed to Missouri where he killed Forrest Reed
Boyd and stole his car along with his credit cards. Thacker drove
to Tennessee where the car ultimately broke down, and he called a
tow truck. Thacker murdered Ray Patterson, the tow truck driver,
after being confronted for using a stolen credit card. Thacker was
apprehended in Tennessee.
He was given a death sentence for killing the tow truck driver in
Tennessee, and a life sentence for killing the Missouri man.
In the fi ling, General Pruitt asked the court to set the date “sixty
days after January 7, 2013.”

Thomasine Harjo, 25, was jailed Dec. 26 after she allegedly drove
drunk through a traffic accident scene - then told officers that she
couldn’t be arrested because she had DUI court the next morning.
According to Oklahoma City police, officers were processing an accident scene where a fatality had occurred when Harjo ignored a police
barricade and drove her vehicle through it anyway.
Investigators say the accident scene had been blocked off with patrol
cars - with lights flashing - and had been corded off with crime scene
tape. Several officers tried to get Harjo to stop prior to entering the accident scene, however she didn’t acknowledge them.
When officers finally did get Harjo to stop, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol when she
opened her door. When Harjo was asked why she did not stop for the barricade, she stated
that she was simply following the car in front of her. No other cars, however, entered the
accident scene.
While officers were placing Harjo into custody, she stated that she couldn’t be arrested
because she had to appear in court the next morning. When an officer asked what the court
appearance was for, Harjo stated that it was for a previous DUI charge.
Harjo was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and charged with DUI, driving without
a valid driver’s license and obstruction of justice.

Sara Jane Soto, a 28-year-old Houston woman, was
jailed Jan. 2 after she allegedly beat her commonlaw husband with her stiletto high-heel shoe.
According to Houston police, officers were
dispatched to the couple’s residence after a man
called 911 and reported that he had been assaulted
by his common-law wife.
When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke
with the victim, however the alleged suspect, Sara
Soto, had already fled the scene.
The victim told police that his wife came home
from work intoxicated and then commenced beating
him with her high-heel shoe after the couple began
to argue.
Soto was located at a nearby convenience store and taken into custody.
She was booked into jail and charged with domestic violence assault.

As a female shopper exited a convenience store, a
man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911
immediately and the woman was able to give them
a detailed description of the snatcher, and police apprehended him within minutes. They put him in the
cruiser and drove back to the store. The thief was
then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a
positive ID. To which he replied, “Yes Offi cer, that’s
her. That’s the lady I stole the purse from.”
In Bent Forks, Ill., kidnapers of ice-cube magnate
Worth Bohnke sent a photograph of their captive
to Bohnke’s family. Bohnke was seen holding up a
newspaper. It was not that day’s edition and, in fact,
bore a prominent headline relating to Nixon’s trip
to China. This was pointed out to the kidnapers in a
subsequent phone call. They responded by sending
a new photograph showing an up-to-date newspaper. Bohnke, however, did not appear in the picture.
When this, too, was refused, the kidnapers became
peevish and insisted that a photograph be sent to
them showing all the people over at Bohnke’s house
holding different issues of Success Magazine. They
provided a mailing address and were immediately
apprehended. They later admitted to FBI agents
they did not understand the principle involved in
the photograph/newspaper concept. “We thought it
was just some kind of tradition,” said one.
After being arrested for stealing a car, the judge
asked the man, “how do you plead?” Instead of saying guilty or not guilty the man said: “Before we go
any further, judge, let me explain why I stole the
car.” The judge ruled in record time.
When two service station attendants refused to
hand over the cash to an intoxicated robber, the
man threatened to call the police. They still refused,
so the robber called the police and was arrested.
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn’t control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each man in the
lineup to repeat the words, “Give me all your money
or I’ll shoot,” the man shouted, “That’s not what I
said!”
In a small town of 1700, a student attempted to
rob the local convenience store wearing his letterman’s jacket. He did not realize that he was the only
male named Dana in the whole town.
