Claremore police arrested a man on July 4 after
they found him walking around drunk with some
marijuana and a pipe in his car.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the 150 block of Fred Swan Lane at approximately 9:55 p.m. because a caller reported
that a reckless driver was on the loose.
When police arrived, they found the suspect’s vehicle parked in an “awkward” position.
The man, later identified as Michael Francis
Chaisson, 32, of Claremore, was in a nearby business.
An officer approached the man in the business,
and he immediately noticed Chaisson reeked of
booze. He was also unsteady on his feet, his speech
was slurred and his eyes were red and glassy.
The officer administered a sobriety test -- it was obvious that Chaisson wasn’t
sober.
Chaisson didn’t try to deny that fact. He told police he had smoked some marijuana, but he denied drinking alcohol.
An officer placed him under arrest.
Police conducted an inventory of the man’s truck. They found a small glass
pipe sitting on the driver’s seat. The pipe smelled like burnt marijuana and it
contained a small amount of a green leafy substance. The substance tested positive for marijuana.
He was transported to the Rogers County Jail and locked up.
Chaisson is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance,
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. He was released on a $1,706 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on July 17, 2015.

Well, it took long enough, and I’m not
complaining about that, but the heat has finally
arrived!
Whether its at the lake, pool, or any of the numerous other activities to be
found throughout this great state, there are plenty of ways to beat the heat! Since
summertime travel is a big part of this I thought I would touch on the way heat
can affect your traveling plans, and some tips to help you!
First, be prepared. Cars suffer in the heat just like we do. If and when
they break down, you’ll want to be ready. Be familiar with your emergency
equipment in your vehicle. This means learn where your jack, spare tire, and
tire tool are. Learn how to use them. Figuring that out on the side of the road
at 102 degrees is no fun at all. The owner’s manual of your vehicle has a section
on roadside emergencies that can help you figure out where the emergency
equipment is stored, and tips on how to use it. Learn the steps to change a
flat! Although we will be happy to help you if you are broken down, we aren’t
always close, and may not be able to get to you for a long period of time. If you
know how to get yourself out of a roadside emergency, that’s less time you’ll
spend in the heat.
Take lots of water with you if you are going on a trip, especially if it’s a long
one. Have a cell phone with you so you can call for help if you need it. Be aware
of your surroundings when driving, so you can give the person you call for help
an accurate location for where you are. Also, if you can get your car to a place of
shade, do so. Temperatures can be up to 20 degrees cooler in a place of shade
such as an overpass or large trees.
Lastly, make sure your car is maintained properly. Ever notice how many
pieces of tires you see on the roadway during the summer? The heat is hard
on tires, so make sure they are properly inflated and have good tread. If your
tread is worn, get them replaced! The pavement those tires are rolling on is even
hotter than the thermometer is showing! Visually check your belts, and make
sure all your fluids are filled up. That ounce of prevention can keep you from
being stuck on the side of the road in 100 plus temperatures.
Preparing for roadside emergencies in the heat is just as important as it is in
the winter, but it seems like we just don’t prepare the same for it. Just a few
minutes of learning how to change a flat, packing in a case of water, and being
aware of your surroundings can keep a bad day from being a whole lot worse!

Brian Kuester, District Attorney for the 27th
Prosecutorial District of Oklahoma, announced
that Carolyn Sue Ross, age 57, of Tahlequah,
OK, entered a plea of Nolo Contendere on 24th
day of June, 2015, in Cherokee County, and was
sentenced to a prison term of 17 years, under
the custody and control of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
Ross was charged with trafficking in illegal
drugs, maintaining a place for selling drugs,
and conspiracy, in April, 2015.
This case was investigated by the Tahlequah
Police Department. First Assistant District Attorney, N. Jack Thorp, prosecuted the case.

Grand River Dam Authority Police Chief Brian Edwards requested OSBI assistance on July
10 with an officer-involved shooting near Disney
State Park.
At approximately 9 p.m. Thursday, July 9, a
Mayes County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop near Disney State Park on
Highway 28. Witnesses tell OSBI agents a passenger in that vehicle exited the vehicle holding a
handgun to his head. He then ran into a nearby
wooded area.
Officers with the Grand River Dam Authority
and other surrounding agencies assisted in locating the suicidal man. At least two GRDA officers
found the man who pointed his handgun at the officers. Two GRDA officers fired their guns at the man striking him several times.
Mitchell Rocky Allen, 36, was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition.
OSBI agents arrived on scene over night and interviewed numerous people and collected
evidence from the scene. Once agents have completed the investigation, they will provide the
district attorney with a comprehensive written report of the incident. The district attorney
will determine whether the shooting was justified.

Jay man Lewis Edward Mallard,
54, was arrested July 9 after he
showed up to the Delaware County
Courthouse drunk and disorderly.
According to the police report, a
Delaware County deputy was dispatched to the commissioners’ office at the courthouse shortly after 11
a.m. The caller asked for the deputy
to “hurry.”
When the deputy arrived, he saw
Mallard standing outside a courtroom with a group of people. Mallard appeared to be under the influence of something -- he was sweating profusely, acting “wildly excited”
with his movements, and he smelled like alcohol.
He told the deputy some guys were chasing him, and they were
blocking the front door to the courthouse. He said they were trying
to harm him, but there was no one at the door.
Officers were able to convince the man that no one was after him.
They asked him how much alcohol he had consumed. Mallard told
them he had had three shots of whiskey and three beers before stumbling up to the courthouse.
A portable breath test revealed to man’s BAC was .013.
Mallard was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to jail.
He wasn’t done with his charges, however. He ripped a phone out
of the wall in a visitation area where he was being held for processing, causing $2,300 in damage.
Mallard is being charged with malicious injury to property over
$1,000 and public intoxication. He was released on a $2,150 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on August 17, 2015.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

A Muldrow man caused a woman to freak out when
she found him driving her father’s truck around in her
yard on July 11.
56-year-old Mark Trenton Williams wouldn’t tell
her where her dad was. Luckily, the man was safe and
sound, but Williams ended up behind bars.
According to the affidavit, a Sequoyah County deputy
was dispatched to a residence on 4750 Road in Muldrow shortly after 10 p.m. to investigate the incident.
The reporting party told the deputy a man, later identified as Williams, was driving her dad’s truck around
her front yard.
The deputy made contact with the man, who was
still sitting in the truck. He noticed Williams appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He kept swaying back and forth, his speech was slurred, and he
smelled like booze. There were also several open “alcoholic beverages” at his feet
in the truck.
The deputy placed him under arrest and put him in the patrol car. He noticed
tire tracks all over the woman’s yard.
The woman told the deputy she had been unable to contact her dad, and she
was nervous. When she asked Williams where her dad was, he told her he wasn’t
going to tell her.
Not long after Williams’s arrest, the woman’s father arrived on scene. He said
he had asked Williams to mow and remove some stumps from his yard earlier
that day. He then left Williams to work while he went to see a movie. The man
said he never gave Williams permission to use his truck.
Williams is being charged with public intoxication, malicious injury to property
under $1,000 and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Catoosa woman Christina Lauren Jackson, 35, was arrested during
a July 12 traffic stop after police found marijuana and methamphetamine in her vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a Broken Arrow officer stopped Jackson’s
vehicle in the 1200 block of N. 23rd Street shortly after 3 a.m., because it had an expired tag. On closer inspection, he noticed that the
tag appeared to have an altered letter, and the tag did not belong on
that vehicle.
The driver identified herself as Jackson. There was also a man in the
passenger’s seat.
While the officer was writing a warning for the woman, another officer arrived on scene with his K9. He conducted an open air sniff on
the vehicle -- the dog alerted, signaling the presence of drugs in the
car.
Police searched Jackson’s car, and the found a cigarette pack containing soma marijuana and
a case containing a smoking pipe with residue, a digital scale, empty baggies and two baggies
containing a white crystal substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case was found in a bag with women’s clothing, a makeup bag and hair products.
The officer placed Jackson under arrest.
She denied that the bag of meth was hers, but she admitted that the cigarette pack containing
the marijuana belonged to her.
Jackson is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a $7,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 5, 2015.

A Vinita inmate is in trouble after she admitted to spitting on a
corrections officer during a dispute on July 6.
Renee Daniealle Liles, 24, said she just wanted to give the officer a
good reason to lock her down.
A Craig County deputy was dispatched to the jail shortly after 8
p.m. to investigate the incident. According to the affidavit, a male
corrections officer told the deputy he was advised by a female corrections officer that Liles had called her a “blonde hair bitch pig.”
The male CO went to speak with Liles, and he said while placing
her on lock down, she spit on his shoe.
The female corrections officer said she heard yelling in the women’s pod, so she went to investigate. She saw Liles and another inmate yelling at each other. She said Liles had been temporarily locked down earlier that day
for a similar incident.
When the male corrections officer went to speak with Liles, the other CO said she saw Liles
spit on the man. When the deputy went to see what was going on, Liles uttered some racial
slurs and told the deputy she didn’t like “outie nonsiders.” She said that the corrections officer came to lock her down, but she hadn’t done anything wrong, so she said she was going
to give him a reason to lock her down.
She said that she cussed him out and spit in front of his shoes.
A few other inmates told police they witnessed the spit attack.
Liles is being charged with prisoner placing body fluid on government employee. Her bond
was set at $5,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on August 14, 2015.

A man in Stockholm, Sweden was a bit miffed when the 13-yearold girl he’d been courting didn’t show up for an arranged sex
meeting. Having met the girl on a dating website, this man deposited an advance payment in her bank account before their “date”.
When the teen stood him up, the man found her home phone
number and called her father to demand a refund. You can imagine how that ended.
James Blankenship’s first mistake was to try to break into his
own mother’s house. Young James had a go at climbing through
the first floor window, then bolted when he was caught.
It didn’t help that he conducted the botched raid in broad daylight, but let’s set that aside for a moment, because this story gets
much dumber. When police found James hiding in a crawl space
near the scene and arrested him, the young man was stunned.
James thought he couldn’t be arrested for burglary because it
wasn’t night-time.

A Welch man seemed to think it was OK if he broke
into a Miami home -- as long as he shook the homeowners’ hands.
19-year-old Nicholas Anthony Herd was arrested July
10 because the homeowners weren’t cool with his burglarizing -- hand shaking or not.
According to the police report, a Miami police officer was dispatched to the 900 block of I Street N.W. to
investigate a burglary that had just occurred. Dispatch
advised the suspect was still on scene.
The victim said she was at home when she heard a
pounding noise coming from the kitchen and her dogs
started barking. She went to investigate and saw a
“shadowed figure,” later identified as Herd, run through the kitchen to her back
porch.
The woman followed him and asked what he was doing. He said he was looking
for stuff. He then told her, “It’s OK -- you know me.” He added, “Come here, you
know me. Shake my hand like a grown woman.”
The only problem? The victim most definitely did not know the man.
When she told him she had called the police, he took off running. The victim’s
husband said he went to the kitchen when he heard his wife talking to someone.
Herd also told him several times, “You know me man. Shake my hand.”
The victims’ back door had been kicked in.
Police found Herd hiding in some bushes after a neighbor of the victims told officers he thought he had seen someone in his backyard.
He was right!
Police placed the suspected burglar under arrest and transported him to jail.
Herd is being charged with burglary in the first degree. His bond was set at $5,000.
