A Hilton man and his female companion were arrested after they
attempted to escape police, both in a car and on foot.
On Jan. 10, a Pauls Valley police officer was on patrol when he saw
a car with a defective front light traveling eastbound on W. Grant Avenue, according to the affidavit.
He initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, whose
driver’s license identified her as Kimberly Caroline Sulek, 27, of Plano,
Texas. Her passenger, 21-year-old Kirk Andrew Mullins, told the officer that he only had a Texas ID.
Other officers arrived to assist; it’s a good thing they did, because
things were about to get crazy.
The officer informed the couple that he couldn’t locate valid IDs for
either one of them through Texas or Oklahoma. He asked Mullins to
step out of the car, but the unidentifiable man had other plans. He told
Sulek, “Go!”
Sulek sped off, but police were not far behind.
Sulek ran several stop signs and sped through city streets. She eventually came to a stop, but Mullins jumped out of the car and took off
running.
An officer jumped out of his patrol car and approached the driver’s
side. He yelled at Sulek to get on the ground. Sulek exited the vehicle
and got on the ground. The officer placed her in handcuffs and put her in his patrol vehicle.
Other officers pursued Mullins on foot; the man finally came to a stop and put his hands
up. He was placed under arrest, and he told police he ran was because he had a pipe and
scales.
An officer inventoried the car and found items including bullets, scales, a pipe with a
burned residue, clothing and empty jewelry boxes.
Sulek told the officer that the bullets were in her vehicle because she had been shooting
guns with friends. She added that they were living in the car, which is why there were clothing items and empty jewelry boxes in the car.
Sulek is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and eluding/ attempting to elude a police officer. She is being held on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on Feb. 19, 2014.
Mullins is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing
an officer. His bond was set at $1,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 24,
2014.
Take it on the run

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Well, winter is here! With this
most recent ice and snow storm
that gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant
obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t
really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by
iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch
on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give
some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to go
out 10 minutes before you leave and simply start your car up, and
get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good
to go! Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical deicing sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!

James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), is providing the following public service announcement:
The public is advised there is currently a fraudulent
phone and e-mail scam targeting Oklahoma utility customers. Customers have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be with the utility company’s billing
department. The caller advises the customers they have a
past-due balance, and if they do not provide credit card or
bank account information, their service will be remotely
terminated.
Customers have also received e-mails stating their bill is
now available and that the amount owed is past due. The
e-mail instructs customers to click on an embedded link to pay the past-due bill. The public
is advised this is a fraudulent phone and e-mail phishing scam.
This type of fraudulent solicitation is not unique to utility companies, and similar scams
have been attempted using banks, government agencies, and numerous other legitimate
businesses. Individuals should not provide any information or click on the embedded links.
Individuals who receive suspicious or unsolicited phone calls or e-mails should contact their
service provider or the involved business directly to verify the validity of the request.

A teen on a two-day crime spree was
shot and killed by Ardmore police Jan.
16 after shooting at least four people,
including two agents of the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF),
Ardmore officers say.
None of the injuries suffered by the
people shot by Henry Jackson, 18, was
life-threatening, authorities say.
It was reported that Jackson shot a
19-year-old woman as she was leaving
her Ardmore home Jan. 15. They say
she was in the back seat of a friend's
car when Jackson approached wearing a black hoodie and ski mask and knocked on the window before
shooting her in the arm. She was taken to a hospital in good condition.
The next day, Jackson got into a scrape with an unnamed person
who he shot in the hip. That person was airlifted to an Oklahoma
City hospital and has since been released.
While Ardmore officers were searching for Jackson, two ATF
agents who happened to be nearby found a vehicle Jackson was believed to be in and Jackson opened fire on the agents, injuring both.
One was treated at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital
with minor injuries.
That night, Ardmore officers were searching a neighborhood
where they believed Jackson was hiding when Jackson was spotted
in a silver Ford Taurus.
The officers gave chase and Jackson began shooting. Officers fired
back, hitting Jackson several times. He was pronounced dead at the
scene. The Ardmore officers weren't hurt.

Michael Wilson
Michael Lee Wilson was
pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. on
Jan. 9, 2014, by lethal injection,
for the murder of his co-worker,
Richard Yost.
Michael Lee Wilson and Richard
Kevin Yost were employees at the
local Quik Trip together. Wilson
planned to rob the store with Billy
Alverson, Darwin Brown and
Richard Harjo two weeks prior to
the murder. Shortly after Yost began
his shift on Feb. 25, 1995, Yost was
surrounded by Wilson, Alverson,
Brown and Harjo. Yost was dragged
to the back room where he was beaten to death by an aluminum
baseball bat. Following the beating, Wilson took money from the
store’s safe and cash registers while helping several customers
check out. All of these actions were seen by Quik Trip’s surveillance
tapes.
Shortly after Wilson’s arrest, Wilson’s mother called the police
and directed them to evidence of the robbery that was located at
her home. Police also found the safe and other materials from the
robbery at Alverson’s house.
Prior to this case, Wilson was an accessory to murder in 1995.
While Wilson was in custody, he committed assault and battery
upon another inmate and got into several fi ghts with inmates.
“Michael Lee Wilson was sentenced to death by a jury of his peers
for the heinous beating of Richard Yost, who was simply doing his
job,” Attorney General Scott Pruitt said. “My thoughts and prayers
are with Richard’s family and friends.”

Police say a Purcell man was taken
into custody at the emergency room
after he proclaimed that he was an
angel.
A fallen angel, maybe.
On Jan. 2, a Purcell police officer
came into contact with 34-year-old
David Wayne Taylor Jr. at a business
in the 2100 block of Hardcastle Boulevard.
According to the affidavit, Taylor
was acting in a strange manner and
causing trouble at the business.
He had physically assaulted a male
employee and spit in the face of a female employee twice before the officer arrived.
Luckily for Taylor, both of his victims declined to press charges,
but his erratic behavior was cause for concern.
Taylor was acting very animated and kept making comments
about being an angel. He was transported to the emergency room by
ambulance for an evaluation.
At the E.R., the officer found two clear plastic baggies containing
a crystal-like substance that later field-tested positive for meth and
a homemade smoking device that contained a green substance that
Taylor claimed was K2 (synthetic marijuana). The substance did not
test positive for marijuana.
At the emergency room, Taylor continued to display erratic behavior, continually going from a combative state to a relaxed state.
The officer advised Taylor that he was under arrest while at the
hospital. Unfortunately, for the man that believed he was an angel,
he would soon be seeing iron bars, not pearly gates.
Taylor is being charged for possession of a controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was
released on a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
Feb. 5, 2014.
He’s no angel!

Reports of crime in the neighborhood
can make one feel uneasy. The affected
community may work to rebuild
its sense of security by hiring more
police, improving street lighting, and
imposing strict curfews. In addition
to this, community efforts to reduce
poverty and provide better educational
opportunities for all community
members can help eliminate crimes of
desperation and strengthen the fiber of
the community.
To eliminate crime entirely, wouldn’t
we also need to address other issues
that cause criminal behavior? Wouldn’t
we need to address things such as
dishonesty, disrespect, greed, and hatred that seem to come from
within individuals? As Jesus pointed out, “Evil thoughts come out
of the heart” (Matthew 15:19 New International Reader’s Version).
To end criminal behavior, we need to reach the heart of people with
the healing touch of divine Love.
Jesus’ life, recorded in the Bible, shows us how to love as God
loves. This spiritual love changes people’s hearts. Knowing that
God is only good and is the true Father and Mother, the governing
Principle, of all humanity, Jesus looked beyond the erring human
personality to discern the pure and perfect spiritual identity of an
individual. Jesus loved – deeply appreciated and acknowledged –
this true identity. When he met Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector,
Jesus loved him as God had created him, looking beyond his corrupt
behavior to perceive reality – Zacchaeus’ honesty and uprightness
(see Luke 19:2-8). This perfect love reached the heart of Zacchaeus
and changed his behavior. He pledged to return the money he had
taken unlawfully, recompense for the wrong he had done, and
reestablish his life on an honest foundation.
Bible Says:
REACHING THE HEART OF PEOPLE

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

An Overbrook man was taken into custody
Jan. 20 after he led police on a high-speed
chase in Love County.
James Nipp, 22, was charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to
elude police and assault with a dangerous
weapon on Jan. 21 in Love County District
Court.
According to court records, OHP troopers
were in pursuit of Nipp, who was driving a
1999 Chevy pickup near Long Hollow Road
“traveling at excessive speeds on a gravel
road…” At one time during the chase, one of the troopers attempted
a tactical move to stop Nipp’s truck, but Nipp allegedly swerved into
the trooper’s lane in an attempt to hit the trooper’s vehicle.
Nipp was eventually taken into custody and booked on the charges. He faces a $1000 to $5000 fine and not less than one year nor
more than five years imprisonment on the eluding charge, and up
to 10 years in the penitentiary or one year in the county jail for the
assault charge.

By Lori Fullbright,
News On 6
A former Rogers County Commissioner who spent time in prison is in
trouble with the law again.
Deputies arrested Randy Baldridge
on Jan. 7.
Tulsa police say a witness has accused Baldridge of picking up runaway
boys and giving them drugs, sometimes
in exchange for sexual favors.
Someone else told police that Baldridge had given him methamphetamine and he later woke up naked in a
field.
TPD turned over the investigation
to Rogers County since the allegations
were centered there.
The Rogers County THUG task force
took him into custody. They say he had
a 16-year-old runaway from Tulsa with
him at the time.
The two were at a Rogers County
home where deputies say they found syringes in the boy’s backpack that tested
positive for containing methamphetamine.
Deputies say they got permission to
search Baldridge’s vehicle and found a
glass smoking device, several syringes
and a silver spoon, all with a white,
powdery substance on them that also
tested positive for meth.
They say all this was found less than
200 feet from the Tiawah Elementary
School.
An affidavit says
Baldridge admitted
supplying teenage
boys with meth, but
he first claimed he
bought it as a way to
keep the boys from
going into those
kinds of places.
It says he originally denied using
meth himself, but later admitted, with
tears in his eyes, that he did use it.
This appears to be a long downward
spiral from where Baldridge was when
voters elected him to be a Rogers County commissioner.
However, in 2007, a federal jury
found him guilty of money laundering,
mail fraud, obtaining money by fraud
and other counts and a judge sentenced
Baldridge to 37 months in federal prison.
The sheriff says when Baldridge was
released from prison, he came back to
Rogers County, got a job and things
were quiet until his office received these
recent complaints.
The affidavit says a second teenage
runaway boy has been at Baldridge’s
home many times, for long periods of
time, but he was dropped off at a Tulsa
house and deputies are still searching
for him.
Baldridge

A 19-year-old Oklahoma City man was arrested
after he handed over his stash of weed to a Cleveland County deputy.
On Jan. 14, the deputy was on patrol in the
3400 block of S. Telephone Road in Moore when
he saw a silver car with an expired tag, the affidavit states.
He activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. As soon as he made
contact with the driver, Jonathan Philip Wedin, the deputy immediately smelled a strong
odor of fresh marijuana coming inside the vehicle.
There were also two other passengers in the vehicle that were under the age of 18.
The deputy asked Wedin if he had any marijuana on him or inside the vehicle. Wedin
bluntly answered, “No, we already smoked it.”
The deputy asked Wedin again, to make sure. Wedin changed his story and told the deputy,
“Yeah, there may be a few grams in here.”
The deputy asked the teen to step outside of the vehicle and show him where the marijuana was. Wedin opened the back door and pulled a plastic container out of a backpack. He
handed it to the deputy, and when the deputy opened it, he saw a plastic baggy that contained
a large amount of a green leafy substance that later field-tested positive for marijuana. Inside
the container, there was also a digital scale and plastic baggies.
The deputy placed Wedin in handcuffs and asked the passengers to exit the vehicle.
He searched the vehicle to see if there was anything else illegal in it; he found more marijuana, plastic baggies, a bong, more scales, grinders smoking pipes with a burnt residue and
$360.
Wedin agreed to speak to the deputy and told the deputy that the marijuana and drug paraphernalia belonged to him. He said that he was unsure how the $360 ended up in his wallet.
Wedin was transported to jail. Since his passengers didn’t commit a crime, they were released to their legal guardians.
Wedin is being charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $2,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 11, 2014.

February Is Teen Dating Violence
Awareness and Prevention Month
During this month, and at all times, parents need to be aware of
the issue of teen dating violence. For as much as domestic violence
among adults is an issue that is too often not discussed -- and too often kept a secret by the victim -- teen dating violence is even less discussed, and even less reported by victims. Nevertheless, in a recent
survey of over 4,000 9th through 12th graders, one in five reported
being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.
The sad fact is that two out of three teens in an abusive relationship
don’t ever tell anyone about the abuse. For girls, when they experience serious sexual abuse they only report it to an authority figure six
percent of the time. This makes it very difficult to know when your
teen has become a victim of dating violence.
Still, there are warning signs that every parent and teacher can and
should look for. Because teenage years are difficult (and secretive)
enough as it is, it’s important to be aware of these warning signs, and
to approach your teen in a way that will make them feel comfortable
talking with you.
For more information, contact your local DHS.
