Sexual abuse affects
both boys and girls of
all ages, in all kinds of
neighborhoods and communities. Children are
more likely to be sexually abused by someone
they know and trust than
by a stranger. Abusers do
not always use physical
force. Many use games,
gifts, lies, or threats to engage children and to keep
them from telling anyone
what has happened.
Signs of Possible Sexual
Abuse
The following may indicate sexual abuse and should not be ignored:
• Unexplained pain, itching, redness, or bleeding in the genital area
• Increased nightmares or bedwetting
• Withdrawn behavior or appearing to be in a trance
• Angry outbursts or sudden mood swings
• Loss of appetite or difficulty swallowing
• Anxiety or depression
• Sudden, unexplained avoidance of certain people or places
Sexual knowledge, language, or behavior that is unusual for the
child’s age

Watonga man Edward Leon Gordon Jr., 18, and 21-year-old
Kristopher Brock Whisler of Fay, along with a juvenile male,
were placed under arrest after stealing stereo equipment from
a vehicle on March 19.
Wynnewood police and Garvin County deputies were contacted at approximately 12:30 a.m. about a burglary, according
to the affidavit. The caller said he caught three people breaking
into his truck; he said the suspects stole his stereo equipment.
Dispatch advised the caller was following the suspect vehicle
around Wynnewood. Police found the vehicle at the intersection of N. Carr and E. Seminole St. The driver was identified
as an extremely nervous Whisler. The man was shaking and
breathing heavily.
Whisler told officers he was hanging out with Gordon and a
juvenile male, and the three decided to go to town when the
burglary occurred. He denied stealing anything.
He said after his friends stole the stereo equipment, they took
off in his vehicle, but when they realized the victim was following them, one of his friends threw the stolen stuff out the vehicle and they both jumped out and took off running.
Police found Gordon at the juvenile’s home. He told police
he didn’t know anything about the burglary. The juvenile told
police that he was “just there,” and he didn’t steal anything. He
put the blame on Whisler.
The juvenile and Whisler told police almost the exact same
story about Gordon’s involvement in the burglary. Gordon appeared to get more and more nervous the longer he talked to
police. Whisler later admitted to taking the equipment out of
the truck. He said he knew it wasn’t a good idea when he did it.
Whisler and Gordon were both placed under arrest and taken to jail.
Whisler is being charged with burglary in the second degree and conspiracy. His bond was
set at $4,000.
Gordon is being charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. He was released on a $2,000
bond. They are both scheduled to appear in court on May 8, 2015.

Overnight on March 3, the Sallisaw Police Department requested OSBI
agents assist with a homicide case.
Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to a call of a woman deceased in her car in the area of 800 Ruth Street. Officers found Karen
Gregg, 56, dead inside her vehicle with what appeared to be a gunshot
wound to the head.
A witness driving by the area saw a man standing outside the vehicle
and then heard a loud pop the witness believed was a gunshot. That witness was able to give officers a description of the man.
Agents and officers recovered several items of evidence at the crime
scene which linked back to Gregg’s son, Jessie Mosby, 35, as did the eyewitness description. Investigators located Mosby at the home he shared
with his mother for the past several months.
Evidence located in the room where he was found relate back to the murder weapon. The possible
murder weapon was found that morning in a yard on Druery Lane.
Mosby was arrested for the first degree murder of his mother and booked into the Sequoyah
County jail.

A 26-year old Cushing resident who flagged down police is probably wishing he hadn’t.
Thomas Plummer flagged down two Cushing police
officers as they made their rounds near 2nd and Steele
Street early March 15th morning.
The officers ran Plummer’s name and found that he
had four outstanding warrants in Payne County.
When they tried to arrest him, police say Plummer
raised his hands above his head as he backed away and
told them, “I gotta show you something.”
The officers grabbed Plummer’s arms and secured
them.
When asked what he wanted to show them, Plummer told the officers that he
had a gun in his jacket pocket.
A search revealed a loaded revolver containing three live 9mm rounds, a folding
knife with brass knuckles, and a homemade glass smoking pipe that contained a
chalky residue. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
The entire incident happened less than 500 feet from a park.
Plummer was arrested and taken to the Cushing Police Department, where he
was held on a complaint of possession of a controlled dangerous substance within
1000 feet of a park, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm
while in the commission of a felony, possession of metal knuckles, along with the
four outstanding Payne County warrants.

A Purcell man was arrested March 7
for allegedly attacking his fiancee with
a gun after claiming that the woman
punched him in the face.
Shortly after 2 p.m., a Purcell police
officer received two phone calls from
different callers about a domestic dispute in the 300 block of W. Fox Street.
According to the affidavit, the first
caller said a woman punched him in the
face; the second caller said his daughter’s fiancé had pulled a gun on her.
The officer met with a woman in the
front yard of the residence. He asked
her if there was a gun involved in the dispute. She said yes.
25-year-old Jake Jackson Farrow then exited the residence and
told the officer he didn’t own a gun and the woman assaulted him.
The woman’s dad gave the officer permission to search the residence. He found an empty 9mm magazine and holster under the bed
in Farrow’s room. He showed the man what he found. Farrow told
him the gun was in his car.
The officer located the gun under the passenger seat -- it had seven
rounds in the magazine.
The woman told the officer Farrow pushed her out of the back
door of the home while holding the gun. She said he then hit her on
the head with the gun when she tried to go back inside. She had red
marks on her chest that were consistent with someone pushing her.
The officer placed Farrow under arrest and took him to jail.
Farrow is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 15, 2015.

Authorities have captured Love
County jail escapee Emilio Martinez
Garcia in Oklahoma City. He was taken
into custody around 10 a.m. March 18.
Officials had received tips on a possible residence where Garcia was staying, and he was captured nearby.
Garcia and another prisoner escaped
March 12 from the Love County Jail.
The other inmate, Jesse James, was recaptured later that day.
Reports state Garcia now faces drug charges in Oklahoma City, as
well as charges of escape and assault on a correctional officer in relation to his Love County escape. During his recapture in Oklahoma
City, officers apparently found methamphetamine in Garcia's pocket.

On March 6, 1969, the first woman placed on the FBI's
Most Wanted list goes before an Oklahoma City judge after
her true identity is discovered a day earlier by OSBI fingerprint specialists.
Ruth Eisemann-Schier was wanted for her role in the kidnapping of Barbara Mackle from an Atlanta, GA, motel December 17, 1968.
Schier was using an assumed name when picked up at a
Norman drive-in restaurant several months later where
she worked as a car hop. Schier was living under the name
Donna Willis when she applied for a job at the Central State
Hospital in Norman. As stated in an article printed by The
Daily Oklahoman,
“As a routine procedure, she was fingerprinted and her fingerprints were sent to the crime bureau for a check against
criminal records. They were received Tuesday night. Mrs. Jean Price, a fingerprint technician at the crime bureau two years, noticed Wednesday morning that the prints matched
those of Ruth Eisemann-Schier.”
FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover sent a letter of appreciation to the OSBI applauding the efficient work and cooperation with the FBI by OSBI Bureau Chief Carl Tyler; Chief Agent Tom
Puckett; Paul Boyd, head of the identification division; and Mrs. Jean Price.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A Lindsay man has been taken into custody for the murder of
an Ardmore man and the kidnapping and rape of his girlfriend.
Justin Ray Smith, 35, has been charged with first-degree
murder, shooting with intent to kill, kidnapping and rape, in
Murray County.
Smith reportedly forced his way into his ex-wife’s home in the
300 block of West 13th Street, in Sulphur, and forced 40-yearold Randale Lee Hokett, and the woman into Hokett's truck at
gunpoint, according to reports. Smith then drove them to Veterans Lake near Sulphur, where Smith shot and killed Hokett.
Allegedly, Smith also sexually assaulted the woman and shot
at her, according to court records.
With the Hokett's body in the truck, Smith parked the truck
near the 1200 block of Atoka Street in Sulphur. He then got
into his own vehicle with the woman and drove her to to the
Sulphur Police Department. He allegedly made her call 911 around midnight, according to
reports.
Smith turned himself in to the Lindsay Police Department and was transported to the
Garvin County Sheriff's Office.
Smith is currently being held in the Murray County jail. His preliminary hearing conference is scheduled for April 14 at 9 a.m.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
With this most recent ice
and snow storm that gripped
Oklahoma, there obviously were
some significant obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed,
that doesn’t really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is
obstructed by iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m
going to touch on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about
it, and give some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to
go out 10 minutes before you leave, start your car up, and get the
defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good to go.
Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical de-icing
sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!

Curnutte
Durant man Brandon Wayne Curnutte,
37, allegedly broke into a home, ransacked
the place and took a bunch of stuff before
setting the place on fire.
On March 9, a Marshall County deputy
was dispatched to the scene of a structure
fire on South Highway 377 and Colmen
Road. A firefighter told the deputy it appeared as though someone had broken into
the home and set it on fire.
The inside of the house was a mess; stuff
had been thrown on the floor and piled up
on the beds. The homeowner said he didn’t know why anyone would
target him or his house. He also said there was some stuff missing,
including two flat screen televisions, a safe and two laptops.
He told the officer he had video surveillance at his property, but
someone had stolen some video cameras that were on the outside of
the house.
And then it clicked --
The homeowner said he hired a man to do some cleaning for him,
and the man had brought his mom and uncle (later identified as Curnutte) over to visit that weekend. When they left, the homeowner
realized his mom’s diamond ring was missing.
When he asked the man if he knew where it was, the man said no.
The man later texted the homeowner and asked if he was at work.
The next day, the homeowner went to the sheriff’s office and told
police he found a surveillance video at his residence. On the video
was Curnutte, walking around the house with a chainsaw and grabbing the surveillance cameras.
Curnutte was arrested and locked up.
He is being charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree
arson. His bond was set at $150,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on April 2, 2015.

Two 21-year-old women were arrested at a Norman
hotel May 12 for allegedly possessing drugs and paraphernalia. One of them also had a stolen purse.
Norman police were dispatched to the hotel due
to suspected drug activity in one of the rooms. Hotel
management told police one of the rooms had been
“experiencing abnormally high foot traffic,” according
to the affidavit.
The name registered to the room belonged to a
known heroin and methamphetamine user.
Management advised the room guest was driving a
white car. Lo and behold, police looked outside and
saw the suspect vehicle with two women inside pulling
out of the parking lot.
The driver identified herself as Norman woman
Dezirae Leean Dawn Schmit. The passenger was Amber Dawn Rytlewski of Noble. An officer recognized
Rytlewski as a suspect from a previous larceny report.
The women told police they had just left a room, but
neither one of them were able to provide an officer
with any specific information about the room or its occupant.
An officer asked both women to step out of the vehicle. Another officer arrived
on scene with his K9 and conducted an open air sniff around the car. The dog
alerted, and police searched the vehicle.
An officer saw a black purse sitting on the passenger seat. Rytlewski said the
purse was hers.
Inside the bag, the officer found two social security cards with other women’s
names on them.
The officer realized that one of the names belonged to a woman who filed a
larceny report.
He contacted her, and she told him the cards belonged to her and her daughter.
Rytlewski told the officer the cards weren’t hers, and that she found a purse
and took it, because she needed one. Police also found a bag containing a white
crystal-like substance and a syringe with a white residue. The substance fieldtested positive for meth.
The duo was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
Schmit is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance
within 1,000 feet of park and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rytlewski is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance
within 1,000 feet of park, knowingly concealing stolen property and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both women were released on $2,500 bonds, and they are both scheduled to
appear in court on March 24, 2015.
