Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Voneric Harding of Pauls
Valley, was arrested at the Pauls Valley General Hospital because he refused to leave the bathroom, even
though he lived in a nearby apartment.
According to the affidavit, Pauls Valley police officers
were dispatched to the hospital on October 31 at 5:05
a.m. because there was a man sleeping in the bathroom.
When officers arrived, hospital staff told them a man
was asleep on the floor in a bathroom on the southwest
side of the building. The staff said the man had slept
in the bathroom the night before, and he told him his
bathroom wasn’t working at his apartment.
An officer tried to open the bathroom door, but it was
locked. He knocked on the door and heard what sounded like someone sitting down on a toilet seat. A man,
later identified as Harding, who sounded like he had
just woken up, said he was using the bathroom.
The officer told him he needed to open the door.
Harding refused.
A staff member handed the officer the key to the bathroom, and he unlocked the door.
Harding was sitting on the toilet with his shorts around his knees. On the police report, the
officer stated, “It did not appear [Harding] was in the process of or had already used the
bathroom due to lack of odor inside the room.”
The officer told Harding he needed to finish using the bathroom and leave the property. He
added that Harding could not sleep on the bathroom floor. Harding denied sleeping on the
floor, and he tried to push the officer out of the room.
The officer pushed his hands away and exited the bathroom while telling Harding he needed to leave. The bathroom door closed, but a few moments later, Harding ran out and yelled,
“F--- you!”
An officer grabbed Harding’s arm, but Harding was able to get loose and he took off running toward some local apartments, where he lived. He was eventually arrested and taken
to jail.
Harding is being charged with assault on police officer and resisting an officer. His bond
was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 17, 2014.

Lexington man William John Rogers, 42,
told an officer he had been “over there” and
drinking “this and that” (translation: vanilla
extract) when he was pulled over for dangerous driving during the afternoon of October
30.
His vague answers didn’t keep him out of the
pen!
Around 3:43 p.m., dispatch advised a Washington police officer that there was a possible
drunk driver in a silver minivan traveling west
out of Purcell, the affidavit states. The caller said the van ran a truck
off the road, then drove into oncoming traffic.
The officer found the vehicle breaking another law: he watched as
the suspect van keep driving as it approached a stopped school bus
with flashing lights. The van then drove off the road, but eventually
came to a stop on the road just a half mile east of Highway 24 on
Highway 74.
The driver, identified as Rogers, had extremely slurred speech and
his eyes were red and watery. The officer asked him where he was
going; Rogers said he was going home. The officer then asked him
where he was coming from; Rogers said “from there.”
The officer asked, “Where?”
Rogers replied, “There.”
When the officer asked Rogers if he had been drinking, he admitted
to drinking “a little.” The officer asked him what he had been drinking. He said, “This and that.”
During the stop, the officer could smell alcohol coming from Rogers. He asked the man to step out of his vehicle. When Rogers did, he
stumbled and fell on the highway. The officer helped him up. When
he did, he saw a half-empty 16-oz bottle of pure vanilla extract in the
vehicle. He asked Rogers if he had been drinking vanilla.
Rogers said, “Yep. That’s some good s---.”
After Rogers failed sobriety tests, the officer transported him to jail.
Rogers is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol,
aggravated. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on December 11, 2014.

OSBI agents have arrested a Guthrie man for sexually assaulting
and beating an 85-year-old woman December 25, 1997. David
Jerome Stephens, II, 35, was arrested Oct. 23, at his home located
at 11775 Red Cedar Road in Guthrie.
An OSBI DNA analyst alerted the OSBI case agent of a DNA hit
on the case from the Combined DNA Index System. Days before
the statute of limitations would have run out, that agent filed a
John Doe warrant based off a DNA profile collected from the rape
victim. The warrant allowed the case to legally remain active.
Moena House was beaten with a pipe and sexually assaulted
Christmas morning inside her Guthrie home after giving in to her
attacker’s demands for money. House died in 2008.
DNA was collected from Stephens for a 2013 conviction of
possession of a controlled dangerous drug within 1000 feet of a school/park/child. Stephens has a
lengthy arrest record starting in 1997.

Bond has been denied for a Marietta man who triggered an Amber
Alert Nov. 8 when he kidnapped an
Ardmore girl.
Fount Duston, 34, faces a multitude
of felonies in two counties.
Charges of kidnapping, first degree
rape, rape by instrumentation, three
counts of lewd molestation, feloniously pointing firearm, possession of
firearm while committing a felony,
and furnishing an alcoholic beverage
to a minor, were filed on Nov. 11 in
Love County District Court.
Carter County has charged Duston
with one count of felony kidnapping.
A tip led authorities to Duston’s home on Nov. 9, where they found
the 7-year-old girl. She was rushed to a local hospital before being
returned to her family.
Duston is being held in the Carter County Jail; his preliminary
hearing in Love County will be held on Feb. 4, 2015.

It’s Thunder up, not bottoms up!
A Tecumseh mom was arrested November 10 after she left a Thunder game, drunk
and with her daughter in the car.

According to the affidavit, a Norman police officer was traveling in the 11700 block
of East State Highway 9 when he saw a vehicle “weaving heavily” across the road. At
one point, the vehicle swerved off the highway, then it drove back onto the road and
came to a stop.
Obviously, there was something going on.
The officer pulled over and made contact with the driver, 25-year-old Sarah Katherine Walker. Walker
spoke to the officer in thick, slurred speech, and she also smelled strongly of alcohol.
During the traffic stop, the officer noticed Walker had fumbled movements, and “very poor balance
and coordination.” When he asked her about what she had been doing, she admitted to drinking three
beers at the Thunder game.
Walker’s 5-year-old daughter was sitting in the backseat. Walker told the officer her daughter had
attended the game with her.
Throughout the stop, Walker appeared to be disoriented and was unable to follow verbal directions.
The officer placed her under arrest.
Walker agreed to a breath test; the test revealed her breath alcohol level was .19/.18, more than twice
the legal limit.
Walker is being charged with child endangerment by driving under the influence and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on November 25, 2014.

A Kentucky woman was arrested on November 4
for crystal meth possession while wearing a t-shirt
that said “I Heart Crystal Meth”
Deborah Delane Asher, 37, was charged with trafficking a control substance, methamphetamine in
the photo seen above. Richard Jeffrey Rice, 57, was
also arrested at that time and faces the same charges. According to the Laurel Co. Sheriff’s Department,
“the arrests were the result of a drug investigation
conducted there after deputies located 2 subjects in
possession of 3.37 grams of crystal meth and a set of
digital scales.”
The arrests were made at Dolly Miller Road, six miles north of London,
Kentucky.

Friends don’t let friends do meth
Kingston woman Wendy Kaylene Morgan was taken to jail after
a concerned friend clued police into her illicit drug use around her
children.
On November 9 around 7:15 p.m., a woman contacted police and
told them there was illegal drug use going on at a residence in the
500 block of N.W. Elm Street.
According to the affidavit, the woman alleged that Morgan and her
brother were doing drugs around Morgan’s children. Throughout the
night, police watched as Morgan left the house on Elm Street, returned and left again.
At 12:30 a.m., the woman contacted police and told them she was
scared. Apparently, Morgan had brought some paraphernalia to her
house because Morgan wanted to keep her brother out of trouble.
The woman said Morgan told her she and her brother smoked the remaining meth with the
children in the home so they wouldn’t get caught. She later brought police a box filled with
paraphernalia she said Morgan brought to her house.
According to the affidavit, police had been suspicious of the house for the past couple
months because of the amount of traffic visiting the home day and night. Police executed a
search warrant on November 10. After removing any evidence from the home, Child Protective Services visited to observe the condition of the house.
On November 11, Kingston police tested the residue from the glass pipe Morgan removed
from the house on Elm Street. It tested positive for methamphetamine.
Morgan is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was
released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 4, 2014.

Deaths in crashes involving drunk drivers with
a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08+
dropped in 2010, but despite this decrease, there
were still 10,228 lives lost – that’s one person every 51 minutes. That makes it everyone's problem.
It seems that many people were doing their part to put a stop to this completely preventable epidemic. Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low
point in the late 1990s. Research also indicates that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk campaign
have personally intervened to stop someone from driving drunk, no doubt
saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90's, alcohol-related driving deaths have been
steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was very successful,
it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many
thought the messages to be targeted at overtly drunk drivers, and not them.
When decision time came, they would consider themselves merely "buzzed"
and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December
2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the dangers
of "buzzed" driving and subsequently, to motivate people to stop driving
buzzed. The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed
driving and drunk driving and demonstrating the devastating consequences
that can occur as a result of buzzed driving. The overall campaign hopes to
educate people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and
that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.
