A Lawton man was taken to jail Dec.
22 after he nearly crashed his truck into
a patrol vehicle after a night of drinking.
Glen Parker, aka Glen Denton, 56,
was charged Dec. 27 with DUI- third
and subsequent, driving with license
canceled, suspended, or revoked, and
failure to yield turning left, in Comanche County District Court.
According to reports, Parker was driving along SW “E” Ave. when he turned
onto Sheridan and almost bashed into a
patrol officer’s car. The officer stopped
him a few blocks away and he immediately noticed Parker’s bloodshot eyes,
could smell the booze on his breath as Parker spoke, and when he got
out of his truck, Parker could barely stand.
Parker admitted to having a few beers earlier in the evening, but
refused a field sobriety test. The officer placed Parker under arrest
and transported him to jail.
Bond was set for Parker at $10,000 and he was ordered back to
court Jan. 22.

Two Lawton men have been charged in
connection with the murder of a babysitter back in October.
Police arrested Stephone Carter, 22,
on an unrelated incident in November
after he was involved in a pit bull attack
on another man. He allegedly admitted to
shooting Tanya Zachary, 27, of Lawton,
in a botched robbery attempt on Oct. 27.
Carter was then charged with conspiring to commit robbery, attempted firstdegree robbery with a weapon, possession of a firearm after felony conviction,
and second-degree murder. Bond was set
at $150,000.
Reports state Carter and another man,
Emanuel Ward, 21, attempted to rob
Zachary while she was babysitting for
Chelsea Hayes, 21, and William Martin
IV, 47. Carter and Zachary began arguing and he shot her. When her body was
discovered several hours later, police
initially thought it was suicide, but later
realized it was a homicide, according to
reports.
Ward was first charged with one count
of attempted robbery with a weapon in
relation to the murder, but his charges were amended to include conspiring to commit robbery with a weapon and being an accessory after the fact. His bond was increased from $5000 to $75,000.
Hayes and Martin were also arrested after police found a large stash
of marijuana and cash in their apartment, reports also state.
Carter’s next day in court is set for Jan. 23 before Judge Harris.
Ward’s next court date is set for Jan. 8.

And now, from the Tales of Terrible Parenting That Could Have Ended Waaaaay Worse: A
31-year-old Broken Arrow man was arrested on
Dec. 6 after leaving his two children inside a car in
a bar parking lot while he went to drink. The kids
— aged 5 months (!) and 2 years — were luckily
okay, though the 2-year-old has health issues and
is currently awaiting surgery for a heart defect. The
slurring perp, Jason Daniel Murray, was booked
on charges of child abuse and neglect. And it gets
worse — per an arrest report, Murray refuted leaving the tots in the car, claiming “someone else must
have put the kids in the car while he was inside.” Denial ain’t just a river in
Egypt, dude.

When I think of holidays, and
Christmas especially, I think of kids!
To me its all about the kids...seeing
their faces when they see that Santa has stopped by and dropped off
a lot of presents, watching them play during Christmas break, and
just getting to spend time with their family. So in that vein, I thought
I would talk about a law that is designed just for the kids, and that is
the Child Passenger Restraint Law! I’m going try and hit the major
points and put it in terms we can all understand.
First, the legal stuff; O.S. 47-11-1112 states:
Every driver, when transporting a child under six (6) years of age in
a motor vehicle operated on the roadways, streets, or highways of this
state, shall provide for the protection of said child by properly using
a child passenger restraint system. For purposes of this section and
Section 11-1113 of this title, “child passenger restraint system” means
an infant or child passenger restraint system which meets the federal
standards as set by 49 C.F.R., Section 571.213. (Look for something
on the package when purchasing that says it meets this standard!)
Children at least six (6) years of age but younger than thirteen (13)
years of age shall be protected by use of a child passenger restraint
system or a seat belt. Now, there are some drivers this does not apply
to; namely, the driver of a school bus, taxicab, moped, motorcycle, or
other vehicle not required to be equipped with safety belts, ambulance
or emergency vehicle, and the driver of a vehicle in which all seat
belts are in use. Also, someone who is transporting a child who for
medical reasons are unable to be placed in such devices, provided
there is written documentation from a physician of such medical
reason. It also doesn’t apply to the transportation of a child weighing
more than 40 pounds in the back seat can be wearing only a lap belt,
provided that the vehicle either wasn’t equipped with combination
lap/shoulder belts, or all of those combination belts are in use by
other children weighing more than 40 pounds.
Common sense says our children must be protected. The really
young ones have no choice in the matter, and it is up to us to keep
them safe, and buckle them in. I know some of the older ones can
unbuckle themselves, and do so often. If you start at an early age
with them, it will be second nature for them to stay buckled. And
finally, remember, you are the biggest influence on children, and they
WILL do as you do! So if you aren’t buckling up, they won’t want
to either! Be a positive influence, and lead by example. Thanks for
reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Funk flunked Credit Card Theft 101
John Michael Funk, a 27-year-old Ohio man,
was jailed Nov. 28 after he allegedly tried to use a
stolen credit card in front of a police officer.
According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office,
police responded to a call from Funk’s 60-year-old
mother stating that he had stolen her credit card
and used it to buy cartons of cigarettes at Main
Street Marathon, a local convenience store.
Investigators say while officers were at the store
investigating the report, Funk walked in and
attempted to use the same card, right in front of
police. He was apprehended around 10:30 p.m.
Funk was booked into the Stark County Jail and
charged with two counts of theft from an elderly
person and one count of receiving stolen property.
He was released as a non-violent offender.
This is not Fink’s first run-in with the law. He has been charged with 10 separate
offenses so far this year, according to court records.

Answer: The Bible does address the issue of
rape. As expected, when the Bible mentions the
crime of rape, it is depicted as a gross violation
of God’s design for the treatment of the human
body (Genesis 34). The Bible condemns rape
whenever it is mentioned. For example, there is a
particular passage in the laws given to the nation
of Israel before entering the Promised Land under
Joshua’s leadership. This passage (Deuteronomy
22:13-29) spoke directly against forcing a woman
into a sexual encounter against her will, or what
we know today as rape.
In the New Testament, rape is not mentioned
directly, but within the Jewish culture of its writers, rape would have been
considered as sexual immorality. As such, both Jesus and His followers (including
the apostle Paul) spoke against sexual immorality, even offering it as justifiable
grounds for divorce when a person actively committed sexual acts outside of the
bond of marriage (Matthew 5:32). This would not, however, apply to the victim
of rape, only the one who committed the act.
Further, the New Testament is clear that Christians are to obey the laws of their
governing authorities (Romans 13). Not only is rape morally wrong; it is also
wrong according to the laws of our governing authorities. As such, anyone who
would commit this crime should expect dire consequences, including arrest and
imprisonment.
To the victims of rape, much care and compassion must be offered. God’s Word
often speaks about helping those in need and in vulnerable situations. Christians
would do well to practice these teachings and model the love and compassion of
Christ by assisting victims of rape in any way possible.
To those who have committed rape, we must remember two things. First, people
are responsible for the sins they commit. Second, however, no one is beyond the
grace of God. Even in the lives of those who have committed the vilest of sins,
God can extend forgiveness to any who will repent and turn from their evil ways
(1 John 1:9). This does not remove the need for punishment according to the law,
but it can offer hope, even to those whose sins have made them outcasts in the
eyes of others.
What does the Bible say
about rape?

Two Tennessee would-be robbers tried to “disguise”
themselves by covering their face in black magic marker. That is never, ever a good reason to apply black anything to a white face.
Bad news: A Florida man was pulled over and arrested after the police searched his car and found
marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Good news: In
the process, the police found a bong that the man had
been looking everywhere for -- and thanked the cops
for their help.
If you’re anything like the woman in Sweden arrested for drunk driving, you may think you can get out of
the case by covering up one eye to avoid double vision,
as she claimed in court. Unfortunately, it won’t work
(neither the method nor the excuse).
There’s a reason that billboards don’t say, “Drink.
Drive. Go To Jail. Next time, get your 10-year-old son
to drive instead.” But one Tennessee man found out
the hard way that it might not be a great idea after the
car crashed (everyone is fi ne).
You gotta hand it to a Dallas man who tried to cash a
fake check for $360 billion. Why not?
When a 14-year-old Tampa Bay boy dialed the
wrong number, he quickly apologized, then off ered to
sell the person on the other end of the line some drugs.
Unfortunately for him, that other person was a cop.
A Colorado man went to a video store and claimed
that as a part of the “age verifi cation unit” of the local
police department, it was his duty to confi scate DVDs
of pornography to ensure that all the actresses (and
actors, presumably) were over 18. As foolproof as this
plan was, he was arrested by the cops deployed from
the Creepster Verifi cation Unit. Apparently he had
never even heard of the Internet.
Since when was it a crime to try to resuscitate a longdead armadillo on the road? Who knows, but a drunk
Pittsburgh man who tried was arrested anyway.
Here’s a great way to get arrested: 1. Commit bank
fraud; receive over $200,000 in credit. 2. Flee the
country. 3. Brag about your new lifestyle on Facebook.
5. Accept friend request from DOJ offi cial. 6. If you’ve
made it this far, you don’t need our help.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

An 18-year-old was taken into custody after he nearly drank himself to death and then attacked emergency medical personnel trying
to help him.
Tye Parris, of Apache, was charged Dec. 28 with felony assault on
an emergency medical technician.
According to the police affidavit, Deputy Chris Lewis was called
to a rural home south of Apache because EMS needed help with a
man, Parris, with possible alcohol poisoning. When Lewis arrived,
an EMT said Parris was being very combative and would not let them
check him out.
Lewis got Parris calmed down enough to talk. He told Lewis he
had a lot of rum and took some ice (meth). Just then, he told Lewis
he had to go to the bathroom “very bad.” The EMTs let him up off the cot to urinate, but instead of using the receptacle, he let it fly all over the EMTs. Parris was quickly subdued and
strapped back onto the cot in soft restraints. While restrained, he still tried to punch anyone
who went near him.
At the ER, medical staff tried giving Parris an IV, but he got loose from his restraints
and tried to punch another officer in the room. The attending physician finally had to
give Parris medication to calm him down.
After Parris was released from the ER, he was transported to the Caddo County Jail
and booked.

The OSBI is renewing the reward off er of up
to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest
and conviction of the two men who shot an
elderly Wagoner man and stole his weapons last
Thanksgiving (11/24/11).
The Wagoner County Sheriff ’s Offi ce requested
OSBI assistance with the shooting and attempted
murder of 74-year-old Kenneth Payne last
Thanksgiving morning. About 7:30, Payne was
at the Fort Gibson Wildlife Management Area
Shooting Range sighting in several of his guns
when someone shot him multiple times and left
him for dead. Payne was able to call a family
member on his cell phone for help.
At least four guns were stolen from Payne, was
well as a gun caddy. Payne, who is retired from
the Air Force, lived only a few miles away.
One of the stolen rifl es is a rare Mitchell Black
Lightning .22 magnum rifl e.
OSBI Forensic Artist Harvey Pratt met with
Payne to draw sketches of the two suspects a couple weeks after the
shooting.
Sketch one is that of possibly a Hispanic male in his late 50s with a
light complexion. He stood approximately 5’9” tall and weighed about
160-165 pounds.
The second sketch is that of the second suspect who has dark
curly hair that extends to the back of his shirt collar. He also stands
approximately 5’ 9” tall and weighs about 160 pounds. This man is in
his mid-to-late 30s.
Please remember, these sketches are only considered likenesses of
the suspects. If anyone has information about this case, please call
either the Wagoner County Sheriff ’s Offi ce or the OSBI hotline at
1-800-522-8017.

An Anadarko woman was arrested on felony child neglect
charges after a DHS worker found her baby lethargic and covered with lice.
Pauline Tartsah, 27, was charged Dec. 13 after she failed to
show up for a follow-up meeting with investigators.
According to the police affidavit, a DHS worker went to Tartsah’s apartment to do a welfare check on her 18-month-old
baby. After being let inside, she found the baby lying on a bed
and lethargic. Tartsah was lying on another bed in the apartment intoxicated.
The worker focused her attention on the baby and noticed she
was very thin for her age and was not very active. Tartsah was
so intoxicated she was not able to tell the worker when the last
time the baby had something to eat.
The baby was taken to the hospital where she was treated for
lice, scabies, and malnutrition. Because she was so infested, the baby had to be completely
shaven of all her body hair.
Tartsah claimed she knew about the lice but couldn’t get rid of it. A meeting was set up with
investigators to discuss follow-up plans, but she never showed.
A warrant was issued for her arrest and bond was set at $100,000. At her initial hearing,
she was ordered back to court Feb. 14 for her preliminary hearing and is to have no contact
with the victim.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Donna M: Educate instead of incarcerate, most
of these women have children, and were forced to be
a mom before they graduated high school
Kyle B: and others: Forced to be a mom?
Stacey A: Thats what happens when there is no
EDUCATION and no JOBS....
Sonya B: No one forces a woman to be a mom.
I to agree, with education, maybe some of these
women wouldn’t be behind bars.
Travis P: You play the game you pay the price
Julie S: Jail should not be comfortable for any
one. Let’s stop rewarding criminals with things like
comfort. Sheesh!
Chelsea M: Seems like people are making a lot of
excuses for these women.
Ludie E: As the economy gets worse we will see
more people committing crimes.
Teresa C: Forced!!! More like EASY!!! Then
having babies they don’t want to be bothered with!!!!
They are where they belong!!! They have brains but
obviously don’t use them!!!!!
Eddy C: “Forced” to be a mom... Most should have
had better parents or not been having sex without
protection. I blame the STUPID boys just as much.I
think more laws should be in place to hold both
partners responsible when a child is “CREATED”
but, I also think American Adoption laws need to be
reviewed... There are thousands of people that want
children that cannot afford to adopt here, and go to
other countries to get their kids... Sad. A majority of
these women were not FORCED to be anything. It
was a choice they made. Mandatory Birth control...
NOW! Women can be just as brutal and vicious as
any man, criminal thoughts go through every mind...
acting on them is the difference... following the law
or breaking the law. I do not feel any sympathy
towards anyone whose case I personally follow that
is convicted of violence or drug related. Burglary or
theft... I hope they get maximum sentences. Child
Abuse... Neglect... I hope they never get out... and I
do not even like kids... Same thing though... I hope
they NEVER get Out.
Chanda J: No person is beyond redemption. You
guys sound like youre ready to bust out pitchforks.
Paula T: I do not feel sorry for any women who
is a “mom” that is in prison. I feel sorry for the
children that were born to these women. I raise 2
that have a mother with issues and with me being
a step parent, the “real mom” really makes it hard
for me to teach these kids right from wrong! She’s
always encouraging them to make bad choices. i
think if You’ve ended up in prison, you’ve obviously
wronged your children in some way! I would also
like to add that the over crowding is possibly due
to these women not being taught right from wrong
to begin with! Wake up folks! Today’s kids and
young people are missing a lot of nurturing and butt
whippings! I work for a school district and I see it
everyday. Problemed kids with problemed parents!
I would also like to add that EDUCATION STARTS
AT HOME!!!
Mike H: Here’s an idea. Make another building.
And keep those dirtys off the streets.
Corey L: We don’t need to use more taxpayer
money to build bigger county jails and state
correctional facilities. The solution is simple.
Stop penalizing drug offenses. Offer effective
rehabilitation where needed other than
incarceration. The justice system in Oklahoma and
the rest of America is too simplified. We’re better
than this.
Kacie D: This is bc Oklahoma sends people to
jail for the most ridiculous stuff id love to see some
statistics on what these women are there for.
Phyllis B: dopers, drunks, prosties, thieves,
larceny, fraud, and just plain mean
Quincy B: Sounds like its time for some tent jails
and hard labor to earn there keep
Misty S: THE SYSTEM IS THE PROBLEM!
In the US, we have the most people in jail in the
world. In Oklahoma, there are more women in
jail than anywhere else in the US. Oklahoma ha
the most women locked away in the WORLD! The
court systems are harder on women in Oklahoma
than men, THEY WILL ADMIT IT. Release drug
offenders, get them help, show them how to live.
The director of the Oklahoma Department of
Corrections says the prison system is out of
space for female offenders.
The Tulsa World reports that DOC Director
Justin Jones following a Board of Corrections
meeting in Vinita that fewer women are being
released this year while more women are
being convicted and sent to prison.
He says the increase is due to some
convicts being required to serve 85 percent
of a sentence in addition to enhanced
punishments for others.
Jones says the department took in 1,198
female inmates last year and released 1,162.
He says the agency is projected to receive
1,242 women this year and expects to release 1,131.

WAITMAN BREWER
BRUGLARY- 2ND DEGREE
A Lawton woman was arrested after deputies found bags of “spice”
in the truck she high-centered on a culvert.
Michelle Shea, 26, was charged Dec. 28 with felony possession of
CDS (aka K-2, spice, or incense), and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in Cotton County District
Court.
According to the police report, Shea and another woman were driving along Highway 277 just south of the Cotton/Comanche County
line around 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve when Shea took a wrong turn.
Instead of going down the road a little ways and turning around, she
tried to back up, didn’t see the concrete culvert and high-centered
her truck on it.
OHP Trooper Larry King arrived on scene shortly after someone called it in as an accident.
Two men had also arrived to help Shea off the culvert, but to no avail.
King asked Shea to sit in his patrol unit so he could check the validity of her license and
immediately smelled an odor of burnt marijuana. Shea denied smoking marijuana and explained it could be from the jacket she was wearing; it was a friend’s. King finally got her to
admit that she had smoked “spice” earlier in the day.
A search of the vehicle revealed several spice roaches and several bags of spice, incense,
or K-2. Shea finally admitted she had to smoke spice/incense, and if she didn’t, she would
throw up.
King placed Shea under arrest and transported her to the Cotton County Jail.

ARZOLA
BREWER
Several tips into the Cotton County Sheriff’s Office helped find two
men responsible for breaking into the Temple Ag Building Nov. 28 and
stealing a lot of expensive items.
Kevin Arzola, 22, and Devin Waitman-Brewer, 19, were charged with
second-degree burglary Dec. 10 in Cotton County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, two callers reported Arzola and
Waitman-Brewer were trying to sell items stolen from another Ag
Building over in Jefferson County.
Deputy Milton Honeycutt spoke with the Temple Ag teacher and he
said several things were taken from the building, several welders had
leads cut off, and a spool of welding wire was taken.
On Dec. 7, while on patrol, Honeycutt saw Waitman-Brewer driving
through town and made contact with him. Waitman-Brewer said he
knew about the burglary, but Arzola was the one who stole the items.
Honeycutt told him he was free to go, but he would be contacted later
for a statement.
Honeycutt then went to an address on West Missouri to find Arzola. Arzola admitted he and Waitman-Brewer had broken into the Ag
Building in Temple and Waitman-Brewer had already sold the wire in
Duncan. Waitman-Brewer was then picked up and led the deputy to a
computer he had taken.
Both men were arrested and taken to the Cotton County Jail and booked.
