RESISTING EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Bible does not
prohibit the consumption
of alcohol but leaves that
choice up to the individual.
Opponents argue against
drinking by citing the
destructive effects of alcohol
addiction, such as divorce,
job loss, traffic accidents,
breakup of families, and
destruction of the addict’s
health.
One of the most dangerous elements of drinking alcohol is setting
a bad example for other believers or leading them astray. The
Apostle Paul, especially, cautions Christians to act responsibly so as
not to be a bad influence on less mature believers:
Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be
blameless-not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to
drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. (Titus 1:7,
NIV)
As with other issues not specifically spelled out in Scripture, the
decision whether to drink alcohol is something each person must
wrestle with on their own, consulting the Bible and taking the matter
to God in prayer.
In 1 Corinithians 10:23-24, Paul sets down the principle we should
use in such cases:
“Everything is permissible”-but not everything is beneficial.
“Everything is permissible”-but not everything is constructive.
Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. (NIV)

Well, winter is here! With this
most recent ice and snow storm
that gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant
obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t
really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by
iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch
on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give
some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to go
out 10 minutes before you leave and simply start your car up, and
get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good
to go! Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical deicing sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!

A Davidson man was locked up after he was caught driving around Tillman
County with his vehicle lights off the evening of Dec. 9.
According to the affidavit, a Tillman County deputy was on patrol when he observed a truck driving with no lights on near Frederick Industrial Park.
The deputy made contact with the driver, Jo David Walker, 43. Walker exited
his vehicle to retrieve his driver’s license at the request of the deputy. The driver
was unsteady on his feet and was speaking with a low, raspy voice.
After conducting standard filed sobriety tests, the deputy placed Walker under
arrest. Walker admitted to the deputy that he had methamphetamine in his vehicle.
He explained that he found a foil package and straw that contained meth and
placed it on the dash of his truck.
While performing an inventory of Walker’s truck, the deputy found a burnt aluminum foil boat, a cut
plastic straw and a burnt colored crystal substance that later field-tested positive for meth. The deputy
recognized that aluminum and straw as items commonly used to ingest meth, due to his training and
experience.
The items were under a pair of leather gloves; Walker told the deputy he had attempted to hide the
illegal items.
Since he didn’t do a very good job hiding the meth and paraphernalia, the deputy transported Walker
to jail.
Walker is being charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on Feb. 10, 2014.

Two Hobart men were taken into custody after
police discovered illegal items in one man’s home
while searching for another man.
According to the affidavit, a concerned citizen
informed police that a man with an active warrant
was at a Hobart residence and might be in possession of stolen items and firearms. The items had
allegedly been taken from the home and vehicle of
an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.
On Dec. 13, OHP troopers, Hobart police and
Kiowa County deputies went to the residence to
investigate the citizen’s claims. The front door of
the house was already open on their arrival and
they saw the wanted man, Kenneth Wayne Ashley, 23, sitting against the
couch.
The home’s owner, Jacky Don Hasty, 35, met police at the door and gave
them permission to enter the residence.
As they placed Ashley under arrest, they saw some interesting items in
Hasty’s living room.
Police saw several zip lock bags of ammunition, a firearm and marijuana
pipes.
An officer asked Hasty if he had any more marijuana in his house; he said
that he did.
A trooper was able to identify some of the items that had been stolen from
his home in the living room.
Police left the residence and transported Ashley and Hasty to jail. They
obtained a search warrant and returned to Hasty’s residence.
During a search of the house, police found items including firearms, bags
containing methamphetamine, bullets, a note pad that had a “business plan”
for growing marijuana, and many items that the trooper identified as stolen.
Ashley is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property, two
counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possessing a firearm after felony conviction and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Hasty is being charged with cultivation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm during
commission of a felony, knowingly concealing stolen property and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6, 2014.

Registered Sex Offenders In Kiowa County
Due to technical problems with the Kiowa County booking system,
this month’s Kiowa County arrests were not available at press time.
We apologize for the inconvenience to our readers. OK Jailbirds will
include January’s booking report for Kiowa County with its February
issue.
We would like to thank the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department for
doing everything in their power to get the data to us, but their system
just wouldn’t allow it.
Thank you!
Make a resolution that will not only benefit you, but your family as well – resolve to support your children in 2014! By paying your child support and being there for your children,
you can help ensure their future is bright.
Child Support Services (CSS) offers a variety of ways for noncustodial parents (NCP) to
make their court ordered child support payments. The most common method is through
income withholding which is a wage deduction. Many employers comply with income
withholding via web payment or electronic funds transfer. NCPs have other methods available to make child support payments directly including web payment, mailed payments,
pay-by-phone, walk-in at any BancFirst location, MoneyGram, and US Payments kiosks.
All of these payment methods come at no cost to Oklahoma taxpayers.
“We’re very pleased to offer so many different ways for child support customers to make
their monthly payments. With so many different payment options, every noncustodial
parent should have the opportunity to support his or her children,” said Catina Drywater,
a spokesperson for the Claremore CSS office.
“It’s essential that we make paying child support as easy and convenient as possible for
our customers. We want to ensure that all Oklahoma children have the support of both
parents.”
Each month, the Claremore CSS office collects about $870,000 in child support on behalf of children and families.
To learn more about ways to make your child support payment, or for more information
about Child Support Services, call 1-800-522-2922, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. or visit www.okdhs.org and select “Child Support”.
Child Support Services is a program of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
To promote healthy families, CSS establishes, monitors and enforces reliable support while
encouraging self-sufficiency and strengthening relationships. The program is responsible
for more than 205,000 active child support cases, collecting more than $350 million in the
last year on behalf of children and families.
Support your children in 2014
12 | january, 2014
OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

What happens when you sit in the floor of a hotel room and
make weird noises? Well, if you’re under the influence of
drugs, you go to jail.
An El Reno man is facing charges after he did just that on
Dec. 20.
According to the affidavit, a Hinton police officer received
a call from the owner of a local motel about a weirdo in one
of the motel’s rooms. The owner said that a man was sitting
in the floor of his rented room making quack noises and was
acting extremely strange.
The officer went to the motel and met with the owner. He
was taken to the room of the subject, and saw a man lying on
the floor, making farting noises and mumbling.
The officer saw three syringes in plain view on top of a table.
The officer asked the man if he was OK. The man was mumbling nonsense and was talking extremely fast. The officer noticed that the top of the man’s hands were a little bloody,
alluding to drug use.
The man’s room was extremely messy; the mattresses and pillows had been stripped and
blankets were thrown everywhere.
The officer asked the man if he could pat him down and the man agreed; the officer found
$600 in his pocket.
The man could not stand still and was moving all over the place. The officer told them man
to relax; he said he was trying to. He also admitted to using meth the night before.
The officer asked the man if there was anything illegal in the room and the man said, “Oh
no, you can search if you want.” He then told the officer that there might be syringes in the
trashcan.
In the trash, the officer found a small baggie containing a substance that appeared to be
meth. He also found three syringes, a glass smoking pipe with a white residue and a metal
spoon with a white residue.
Underneath the bed, the officer located a driver’s license that identified the man as 53-yearold Roger Kevin Barton.
The officer placed Barton under arrest and transported him to jail.
Barton is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released
on a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 13, 2014.

What you’re saying
about this on...
DeVocha H: People are sick
Cheryl T: eww
Cheyenna H: Out on
bond???????
Mary C: should have made his
bond higher
Eddie J: oh hell yea thats sexy
Bobby A: If they would just
hang one of these sick individuals
that are in to child porn, it might
stop that sh**t.
Aline L: Sick ass people wonder
how many camera’s they haven’t
found not much telling with a
perv...
Annie B: Love he has federal
charges. The federal courts don’t
mess around and im sure in a federal prison he will be passed around.
Bill F: I hope this guy rots in hell
if he is convicted. He can say good
by high paying federal job with excellent benefits.
Todd M: Sounds like he needs
to be taken on a hunting trip!!
Shaina B: He also looks like he
could b one of those people that
may b hiding a dead body n his
basement JS! Lol creepy!!!
Mary C: Of all the things to spy
on, and he spies on that? Sounds
like he was targeting people to
me.... Creepy creepy stuff...
Carolyn H: Doesn’t deserve
bond
Heather G: Letting people out
on bond is so scary and in this case
disgusting. It’s basically letting him
free to hide and destroy as much
evidence as he can...
Mariette W: Yeah...there is an
idea...lets put a man that has pedophilia images on his computer and
a sick mind back in the public while
he waits for a prison sentence...just
to give him a chance to act on his
feelings before it is too late. Making
sense to you? No, me neither
Jana S: He did this at the navy
base to my mom and great aunt
who work there so everyone who
is saying “my hero and that’s sexy”
are sick. He did this for months.
How would you like it if some perv
was looking at your mom or aunt?
Tuff H: They need to send him
down to boggy bottom.. Let us have
about 30 mins with him I can guarantee he won’t do it again
Mary S: Lovely..gets off on
women using the restroom. Like we
don’t look for cameras these days!!!
Jeez, you can’t get away with that
anymore weirdo!
Belinda M: Considering this
same thing happened close to my
home of a store manager setting
up a hidden camara in the dollar
general bathroom I am very skeptical to use public restrooms !!! This
jackass don’t need to be out with
society wow talk about rewarding
him for his behavior
Sherri C: Creeper. That is just
gross. Why would he get his jollies
watching people pee? Weirdo.
Aundria F: Sad on so many levels..it happened and will continue
to happen. So much for the law
“protecting” us! By releasing him
they have put so many more in danger
of being violated. He is a sick sick man.
Brian M: Dude! I have walked into
the bathroom AFTER a woman has
used it, and based on that over stimulating sensory horror I would NOT ever
want to see the events leading up to
that.
HIDDEN CAMERAS IN WOMEN’S RESTROOM
A McAlester man was arrested and faces federal and state
charges after investigators say he put a hidden camera inside
the women’s restroom at the McAlester Army Ammunition
Plant.
Kenneth Elkins, 55, was an employee at the plant.
Elkins is charged with three counts of federal video voyeurism, two counts of recording/transmitting obscenity. The
state is also charging him with two counts of using electronic
equipment in clandestine manner.
Investigators say women were videotaped using the restroom at the plant between July and August. They say Elkins
captured very revealing pictures of least three of the women.
When investigators searched Elkins home they found child pornography on his
computer and evidence he was recording inside a 16-year-old relative’s room.
Elkins is out on bond.

An intoxicated Burkburnett, Texas, man is in jail after police
arrested him for driving down the wrong way on Highway 36
near I-44 in Cotton County. Apparently, he had $100 that was
burning a hole in his pocket and he was on the way to the casino.
According to the affidavit, a Cotton County deputy on patrol
Dec. 15 when he saw the intoxicated, confused driver make an
illegal U-turn and travel southbound in the northbound lane of
Highway 36. The driver was so out of it that he was not only
driving the wrong way, but was driving straight toward the deputy’s patrol car.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with
the driver, later identified as Robert Wayne Clark, 53. Although
the man initially ignored the deputy’s commands to pull his vehicle into the median, he finally brought his truck to a stop.
As soon as he did, Clark stepped out of his vehicle and appeared to be extremely unsteady
on his feet. He refused to get back in his vehicle; police noticed that he smelled of alcohol
and his eyes were red and watery. He also had slurred speech and was unable to complete
sentences.
Although he had been caught driving in the wrong direction, the inebriated man insisted
that he hadn’t done anything wrong. When police asked him how much alcohol he had consumed, he said, “It doesn’t matter how much I have had to f------ drink.”
Clark was very uncooperative with police and attempted to strike an officer with his fist.
Police placed him in handcuffs and asked where he was going. Clark said he had $100 and
was on his way to the casino. He also admitted to consuming five or six beers.
Police placed him under arrest and located his driver’s license in his wallet. The license
identified him as Robert Wayne Clark. Clark told police that the driver’s license was fake
because his name was spelled in capital letters and his real name was Robert Wayne Clark.
Apparently, someone had a little more than five or six beers.
Clark was taken to jail and he continued to be uncooperative and argumentative during the
booking process.
He is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and obstructing an officer.
He is being held on a $6,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 22, 2014.

Who knew you could hide your weed in Mason jars? A
marijuana-smokin’ man who was apparently suspicious of
female officers was arrested and taken to jail after police
found illegal items in his vehicle.
According to the affidavit, an Altus police officer was on
patrol on Falcon Road when he observed a vehicle traveling 38 mph in a 25 mph zone. The officer informed a fellow
female officer that was waiting approximately two blocks
away about the speedy vehicle.
When the officer arrived, the female officer had conducted
a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Casey William
Coyle, 21, was pacing nervously around his vehicle. The officer looked inside the car and saw a driver’s license in a
holder on the dashboard.
The officer asked Coyle if the female officer had his driver’s
license; Coyle told him that “she was one of them,” whatever
that meant.
The officer told Coyle to get the driver’s license out of the vehicle. As Coyle opened the door
to his car, the officer smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from inside the
vehicle.
The officer also noticed the odor of marijuana on Coyle. He asked Coyle where the marijuana was at in the vehicle. Coyle said it was behind the front seat.
The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and found a Mason jar that contained a green
leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana. He also found a Mason jar that contained
clear baggies and a red digital scale.
The officer asked Coyle if they were going to find anything else in the vehicle; Coyle said he
had a gun.
Police located the loaded firearm and placed Coyle under arrest.
Coyle is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to
distribute, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and speeding in excess of
lawful maximum limit. He was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on Jan. 27, 2014.
