McAlester man Eddie Wayne Coffey, 43, messed
with the wrong woman when he jumped into a truck
that wasn’t his. The woman grabbed a gun and fired
at him when he refused to leave.
A Snyder officer was dispatched to the 1400 block
of B Street to speak to the victim shortly after 6 a.m.
on December 4. According to the affidavit, the victim explained that her husband started their vehicles
that morning to warm them up. When she went to
get in hers, she found the man. She told him to get
out of her truck, then went inside and got her firearm. When she went back outside, he was still just
sitting there.
The victim showed him the gun again and told him
to get out. He finally exited the vehicle and walked around the back of the truck.
The woman said she fired one shot over the guys head to scare him away.
During the incident, the man identified himself as Eddie Coffey, and said he
was looking for a man named Kent.
The officer found the suspect at the intersection of D Street and Sixth Street.
Coffey told him, “Well, I thought I was at Kent’s, and that it was Kent’s truck.”
The man was acting nervous, and the officer noticed he had a knife on his belt.
He asked Coffey if he had any weapons. Coffey pulled out two pocketknives. He
looked surprised when the officer grabbed the knife from his belt.
The officer then asked if he had anything else illegal. Coffey replied, “No, I don’t
think so. You can check.”
The officer searched the man and felt something in his pants. He asked the man
what it was.
Coffey replied, “It’s a glasses case with my points in it.”
The officer retrieved the item and found a case containing an ace bandage and
two syringes. When the officer asked the man what the needles were for, he admitted they were for drugs.
The officer placed the man under arrest and transported him to jail.
The victim contacted the officer and said she realized her phone charger was
missing from her truck. Guess where it was? In Coffey’s pocket.
Coffey is being charged with burglary in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $3,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on January 4, 2015.

When a trooper found drugs and
paraphernalia on a Burkburnett, Texas,
man on December 11, the suspect wasted
no time blaming his buddy for the items.
The buddy said he didn’t know what
the man was talking about.
According to the affidavit, a state
trooper stopped a vehicle at approximately 9:45 a.m on I-44 in Cotton County after the driver failed to switch lanes
without using a signal. The passenger
was identified as 28-year-old Brady Stephen Graham.
Graham appeared to be very nervous.
After checking the men’s information, the trooper was advised that
the driver had a felony warrant out of the state of Washington, and
his driver’s license was expired. He placed the wanted man under
arrest.
The trooper asked the man if there were any illegal items in the
vehicle. He said when the trooper pulled them over, Graham asked
him if he had anything on him. Graham then started putting items
in his boots, but the man said he didn’t know what the items were.
The trooper asked Graham if he could search his boots and socks.
Graham said yes.
The trooper found three glass pipes with white residue and a straw
with residue. Graham said the driver threw the items at him as they
were being pulled over and asked him to hide them. He said he was
scared and didn’t know what to do.
The trooper asked the driver if he had asked Graham to hide the
items. He said he didn’t even know his friend had those things.
Graham was placed under arrest, and both men were transported
to jail.
Graham is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was
released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
January 28, 2016.

homeless
aroung the nation
A homeless man has been charged with property destruction after police discovered a 15-foot-deep cave they say he
dug in a public park.
Yosue Joel Rios, 25, was arrested Dec. 13 after police in
Fairfax, Virginia found a man-made cave in Van Dyck Park.
The painstakingly created home about 200 yards behind the
headquarters of the City of Fairfax Police Department headquarters was discovered about 4:10 p.m. by people walking
through the woods. The entrance was covered with plywood
and leaves, police said.
"I haven't seen anything like it," police spokeswoman Sgt.
Natalie Hinesley said.
Video shot by police shows steep steps leading to a splitlevel home of sorts. On one end of the cavern was a bedroom;
on the other was a sunken living room. Inside, officers found
books and papers that looked like homework assignments.
"He was studying several topics, from what it looked like," Hinesley said, noting officers
found English language manuals. "He had an alphabet written out with the sounds."
He also appeared to be a student of the Bible, police said, and had carved into the cementlike walls the word " Adullam", the name of a cave where David hid from the King of Gath.
Staff members at the nearby nonprofit The Lamb Center said they knew Rios well and that
he had just been there on Saturday for Bible study.
Officers also found inside a spade, a trowel and a pick ax, photos show.
Rios wasn't at the home he created when police entered and began to dismantle it. When
he returned and said he lived inside, he was arrested and charged with destruction of property. Police said he also was wanted for failure to appear in court after a traffic charge in
Arlington County. He was ordered held without bond.
By Monday afternoon, county crews had filled in the cave with dirt. It wasn't clear how long
Rios had lived inside.
At last count, about 1,200 homeless people lived in Fairfax County.
A visitor to Van Dyck Park on Monday, Fareed Naimi, said he admired Rios.
"More power to him. He did something that most people don't do," he said. "He actually
took a step to change his life and made his own little home where he could study."

Anadarko man Damon Todd Trabert
was arrested after he took his roommate’s truck for a drunken spin while
celebrating his 45th birthday. The celebration came to a quick end when he hit
a patch of “dry ice” and ran into a ditch.
On December 12, a state trooper was
dispatched to a single vehicle injury accident at CS 2620 and CR 1340 shortly
after 3 a.m. Police officers and a tow
truck were already on scene.
The trooper saw the driver standing
next to the vehicle, which was in a ditch.
When he made contact with the man,
identified as Trabert, he immediately
noticed the odor of alcohol.
According to the affidavit, Trabert also had slurred speech, red and
watery eyes, and he was unsteady on his feet.
The trooper asked him how much he had had to drink; he said 6
beers. When the trooper asked the man how he crashed, Trabert said
he hit a patch of dry ice and slid into the ditch. The trooper told him
it was way too warm for dry ice to be on the road.
Trabert said he was driving his roommate’s truck. He said he took
the keys without permission, but it was for a good cause… He was out
celebrating his 45th birthday.
The trooper asked the man to step out of the car. Some sobriety
tests and a preliminary breath test revealed that the man had definitely been doing some partying -- too much partying to be driving.
His BrAC was twice the legal limit and he was placed under arrest.
The owner of the truck Trabert was driving showed up to the scene
and told police the birthday boy took his truck without permission.
Trabert is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under
the influence of alcohol aggravated. His bond was set at $5,000, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on February 4, 2016.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater,
with the help of several other attorneys, took down
an armed robbery suspect in the Oklahoma County
Courthouse after he tried to escape custody.
Israel Deshaun Pointer, 19, had been in court December 7 on an armed robbery charge when he was
told he was being arrested for failing to appear in
court on an earlier date, according to reports. He
then said he was not going back to jail and bolted out
of the courtroom. Several deputies tried to stop him
twice, but he struggled free on both occasions.
Video surveillance on the 7th floor of the courthouse shows Prater and several other attorneys walking down the hallway. Prater saw Pointer running toward him and unbuttoned his coat, ready to bounce
on the suspect. He then grabbed Pointer, struggled
with him, and the other attorneys aided in the takedown.
Pointer was then cuffed and carted off to jail.
This was the fourth time since Prater was elected DA that he’s taken down a fleeing
person in the courthouse. In an interview, he said working in the courthouse with “being
in the Wild West.”

OFFICER
On December 19, Altus police entered a home at 1213
Frisco to serve a felony arrest warrant on Pete Mendoza Miranda, Jr.
Miranda, 35, barricaded himself with a handgun in a bedroom of the house. He fled the house after a few minutes
and was pursued by officers on foot. Miranda ran to a vacant lot in the 700 block of South Hickman where he took
cover behind an abandoned vehicle.
Agents are told Miranda drew a pistol from a holster beneath his coat and pointed it an officer. One officer fired several shots.
Miranda was hit twice in the chest before he surrendered
to police. He was taken into custody and transported to a
hospital in Altus. He was treated for minor injuries and released.
Miranda was then booked into the Jackson County jail on
a felony warrant for knowingly concealing stolen property,
possession of controlled dangerous drugs, and use of a firearm while committing a felony.
OSBI agents will collect information and evidence from the scene and compile a comprehensive report for the district attorney. The district attorney will determine whether the
shooting was justified. The Altus Police Department requested OSBI investigate the case.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Tifani P: I think 263 years is a little crazy.. Yes
he did very wrong. But you rape 36 women and got that many years. A military
man from where I’m from abused a baby until he later died and he got 15 years
for child abuse. Like what??? Are you serious. He is a very sick man and deserves
time. But that’s almost 3 life sentences... Priorities need to be set. A child can’t
protect themselves, and neither can a woman.
Leslie B: Unfortunately, he will be segregated from the general prison
population because he was a cop. If they had to worry about “prison justice” &
being afraid to close their eyes to sleep, perhaps a law enforcement officer might
think long & hard about abusing his or her authority…
Jim S: Law enforcement are suppose to keep a higher standard of living. If
a person is charged with a crime against a law enforcement official that crime penalty use generally more severe. The same standards should be equal for the trust
in the person enforcing the law is lost. So their penalty should also be be greater.
Lacie W: I think it’s odd that he was only charged on 18 out of 36 charges, I also think it’s wierd that he forced that many women to do oral on him.... I’m
pretty sure if I was forced to do that id be biting as hard as possible. I’m not saying
he didn’t do the things he is being accused of but I do have a feeling a lot of women
jumped on the bandwagon on this.
Cynthia A: Cops are the biggest criminals out there, glad he is getting
his!!! I am praying karma over a cop in gravette arkansas , that little 5 foot, black
haired bastard. When he gets his I wanna see it!! I had an old Indian pray for him
something special.
Amy W: There going to love him in prison. He might see a little oral and
sodomy himself. Aka Karma
Janice M: Don’t abuse your position. He committed crimes against
women. His punishment fits his crimes.
Eric R: As a retired police officer, I think he abused his power. He deserves
a little jailhouse justice.
Michael S: This cop is a shining example of why the public does NOT
trust the police. As a whole...The police would tell you that the actions of a few
should not cast a shadow on all the rest.. This IS a SYSTEMIC problem and will
NEVER go away as long as the police are allowed to police themselves. Personally I
feel that 263 yrs is over the top for a punishment for the corrupt activiety that this
cop ingaged in. It’s almost like a cartoon sentence. As a tax payer It just dosen’t
seem fair to pay for his incarceration for the rest of my life. I would feel better
about all this if he were only sentenced to say 5 yrs in prison... REAL hard time in
general population like a REAL criminal. The catch to the short sentence would
be that he gets to be raped against his will 263 times before his 5 yrs are up to get
out. Then be able to get out and work and live with a moniter on his ankle for the
rest of his life…
Daniel Ken Holtzclaw is a former Oklahoma City
Police Department police officer. He was convicted on
December 10, 2015 of multiple counts of rape, sexual
battery, and forcible oral sodomy. What do you think
about the verdict?
What do you think?
William H: Hes on sucide watch. Can enjoy his crime and the pain of
his victim’s but cant handle the time.. what a lil bitch
Jim W: The fact that he was acquitted on a few charges shows that the jury
looked at every bit of the evidence. Good verdict.
Shelley S: I agree. Police are there to protect and he broke that trust.
They should be held to higher standards when they break the law.
Roy D: Oh I’m sure those ladies weren’t perfect Angels yes he was wrong
for what he did but I’m pretty sure those ladies offered it and he took it . Again he
was wrong but he shouldn’t have gotten that tha harsh of a punishment.
Patty F: Shocked police seem to get away with everything including murder
Melissa A: This verdict signls to all cops that there ARE consequences
to their actions regardless of their badge.
Vaden M: He did the crime, he did the time and needs to rot in jail.
Regardless of what his job was or how decorated his uniform was. He was found
guilty and was proven guilty. There’s many great cops, and there’s bad ones, too.
He was one of the bad ones.
Christina A: I feel some people like to put their opinion out there BEFORE they know the facts!!!! True victims are very hesitant about publicly sharing their stories and it’s about JUSTICE and HEALING!!! Not $100,000 law suits
against the city!!! I guarantee no amount of money well make a true victim feel
better!!!!
Norma A: Was real proud of the court system, there are probably other
officers out there that are doing or have done the same thing. Believe me hes not
the only one. It makes you scared to trust the law inforcement. He needs put away
for good.
Dennis J: What would be a disgrace is if one of the women come forward
in 5 to 10 years and says he really didn’t do it, just look at them women why would
he want any of them women especially the last one just saying
