Oklahoma Game Wardens (OGWs) from Southwest Oklahoma
(Districts 6 and 7) recently assisted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
(USFWS) Federal Wildlife Officers (FWOs) and Special Agents (SAs)
from Oklahoma’s Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (WMWR) in
serving search warrants regarding allegedly illegally taken deer and
elk.
USFWS FWOs & SAs , OGWs, U.S. Marshall Service Agents, U.S.
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) SAs, Cotton County Sheriff’s
Office (CCSO) Deputies, and Lawton Police Department (LPD) Officers all participated. The search warrant service resulted in numerous items being seized as evidence.
Multiple charges are pending in Federal Court, District Court, and
courts in at least two other states.
Ten OGWs, six USFWS FWOs & SAs, one U.S. Marshall, one BLM
SA, three LPD officers, and two CCSO Deputies participated.

On Friday, February 27, the Fredrick Police Department requested OSBI assist with investigation into the suspicious death of an
18-month-old child.
The child’s mother and her boyfriend took the boy to a hospital
in Fredrick because the child was unresponsive.The child was pronounced dead at that hospital after medical personnel tried for an
hour to resuscitate him.
The medical examiner’s office performed an autopsy and determined the child had a skull fracture and a subdural hematoma. He
also had a bruise inside his lip, bruises on his forehead, bruises on
the back of his head, and a bruised right ear.
Based upon the findings of the autopsy, an OSBI agent filed a warrant for the arrest of the boy’s mother and her boyfriend.
On March 5, Lawton police officers arrested Kelly Lea Fairchild,
21, on one count of child neglect and Gregory Scott Miller, Jr., 27,
for first degree murder. Miller told the agent he accidentally stepped
on the child the night the boy was taken to the hospital. The child’s
mother told the agent the child was lethargic and slept most of the
day, a day before his death.
Fairchild’s bond was set at $500,000; bond for Miller has not
been authorized.

A Vernon, Texas, man tried to act like he lived
at a Frederick residence to avoid being contacted by police, but officers caught him in his lie.
According to the affidavit, Frederick police
were on patrol in the 100 block of East Kiowa
Street on February 21 when they saw a suspicious vehicle at approximately 12:58 a.m. It appeared as though the driver of the vehicle didn’t
know the area and was trying to avoid contact
with the patrol vehicle.
The truck pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 700 block
of North Main that police knew was vacant. The driver exited the
vehicle and started walking around the yard.
Police stopped and made contact with the man. He identified himself as 26-year-old Christopher Lee Amador.
An officer remembered seeing the man’s name on a warrant list,
so he checked with dispatch. While waiting to hear about Amador’s
warrants, he asked Amador why he was at the residence. He said it
was his house, and he walked to the mailbox and took out some mail.
When the officer asked him if any of the mail had his name on it, he
said no.
Dispatch advised Amador had two outstanding Tillman warrants.
Police found a glass pipe with burnt residue and a baggy containing
a white crystal-like substance in the man’s pocket.
While they were talking, Amador kept looking at his truck. Officers
found a 15-year-old girl ducking down in the front of the truck. She
was released to her mother.
Police took Amador to jail. He admitted that the white substance
police found was meth. He also admitted he didn’t live at the residence he had pulled into.
Amador was booked into Tillman County jail on complaints of
possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $5,000 bond and
is scheduled to appear in court on March 24, 2015.

Hobart woman Savanna Jeanea Norris, 27, was arrested for shoplifting and
possession of a firearm after she allegedly
took toothbrushes from the Hobart Dollar General.
According to the affidavit, a Hobart officer was dispatched to the store shortly
after 10 a.m. on February 25 due to a possible shoplifter. An employee told him
she saw Norris put two toothbrushes in
her purse.
Norris was still in the store, and the
employee identified her to the officer. The
officer made contact with her and asked her for identification. She
told him it was in her purse in the car. He asked her to go get it.
Norris and the officer walked out to her vehicle to get her purse.
When they went back in the store, Norris opened her purse to show
the employee the inside. The officer saw a pistol in her purse; he immediately placed her in handcuffs and took possession of the loaded
gun.
He asked dispatch to check for warrants.
Once dispatch confirmed Norris had an outstanding warrant, the
officer placed her under arrest.
When the officer returned to the store to get the employee’s statement, the employee said Norris’ mom had come to the store to get
the woman’s car. She said she walked outside with Norris’s mom
and when the woman got in the car, she saw the two stolen toothbrushes stuck between the front seat and console.
The firearm and stolen toothbrushes weren’t the only bad things
Norris had. When they got to jail, the officer inventoried Norris’s
purse. He found a plastic baggy containing a crystal substance. It
field tested positive for meth.
Norris is being charged with possession of firearm after former
felony conviction, petit larceny and bringing contraband into jail.
Her bond was set at $22,000, and she is scheduled to appear in
court on April 6, 2015.

An Anadarko woman who stabbed a man
told police the man tried to rape her -- too
bad for her an officer heard everything.
On February 11 at approximately 10:59
p.m., an Anadarko officer was dispatched
to the 400 block of East Central for a disturbance. He made contact with a man and
Rebecca Strange, 41.
According to the affidavit, the man was
staying at Strange’s residence, and they
had started arguing. The victim had several cuts and lacerations on his body, but
he said he fell on a glass table. He also told the officer, “Don’t worry
about it.”
At 11:17 p.m., the officer was dispatched back to the residence.
When he arrived, he could hear Palmer and the victim speaking while
he stood outside. The victim said, “I didn’t tell them you stabbed me
with that knife, did I?”
The officer could see the victim sitting on the couch with a phone.
He knocked on the door, and Strange opened it and said, “Thank
God, he was just trying to rape me.”
When the officer told her he had been standing outside and he
knew she was lying, she told him, “OK, I’m sorry. I just want him to
leave my house.”
She also admitted to stabbing the man with a knife. The victim
also admitted she stabbed him.
When the officer told him he would be required to testify against
Strange in court, he said, “OK, I’ll do it since she was accusing me
of rape.”
Strange was arrested and taken to jail.
She is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after former conviction of felony. Her bond was set at
$50,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 9, 2015.

Walters police arrested three people for drugs and alcohol during
a traffic stop at approximately 1:45 a.m. on February 21.
According to the affidavit, police stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on state Highway 5, because it had a defective bright light and
brake light. The driver was identified as Lawton man Larry Darryl
Cornelius II, 36. The passengers were Michael Felipe Taylor II, 27,
and Tristian Shea Morgan, 33.
During the stop, an officer asked Cornelius to have a seat in the
patrol vehicle. He could smell alcohol on the man, but Cornelis said
he had just been drinking grape juice. He later admitted to having a
bottle in a backpack in the vehicle.
The officer retrieved the small Spiderman backpack, and he found
an open bottle of liquor and a large amount of marijuana.
All three passengers denied knowing anything about the weed.
Police placed Cornelius under arrest; he told them that “[Morgan]
gave me a marijuana stick.”
Police went back to the vehicle and asked Morgan and Taylor to
step out. There was a lot of marijuana scattered all over the floorboard, and a glass pipe with white residue on the back of the driver’s
seat.
Taylor admitted the pipe was his.
Morgan initially denied knowing about any of the illegal items, but
after she was placed under arrest, she said, “I have one joint in my
bra.”
Cornelius is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance, driving with license suspended and transporting open
container of liquor. He was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 12, 2015.
Morgan is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was
released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
August 12, 2015.
Taylor is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond
was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March
12, 2015.

Special Ranger John Cummings is seeking information
on the shooting of a cow in
Rogers County.
At Approximately 6:30 a.m.
on Thurs. Feb. 5, a Rogers
County rancher found a black
12 year-old black cow shot and
killed 30 yards from the intersection of Winganon Road and NS 4200
Road near Chelsea, Okla.
The cow was shot in the head with a small caliber weapon and the
suspect(s) removed the right hindquarters and some of the back strap
from the dead cow. The remainder of the cow was left untouched. The
cow was heavy-bred and the loss is reported at $2,500.
According to Cummings, this is the third cow/calf they know of that was
killed and butchered in the area since 2010. Cummings worked a similar
case in the same area in 2012.

An intoxicated Altus man tried to
tell an officer he was just sick after police found him passed out, covered in
vomit.
Cody Ray Barnard, 19, was arrested
for suspicion of DUI on February 22
because he crashed into a pole in the
1400 block of North Thomas while he
was, um, “sick.”
At approximately 3:34 a.m., an
Altus police officer was dispatched
to the area for a possible vehicle accident. He saw a gray truck that had
crashed into a metal protective barrier pole. The driver of the truck, Barnard, was passed out on his
steering wheel. The vehicle was in drive and still running.
According to the affidavit, Barnard and the ground outside his
door were covered in vomit. The officer also noticed an “extremely
strong odor” of alcohol coming from Barnard’s breath and person.
Barnard woke up and when the officer asked him how much he had
had to drink, he slurred, “A lot.”
The officer placed him under arrest and took him to jail.
At the jail, the officer asked Barnard if he wanted to take the state’s
test. Barnard replied, “How do you know I’m drunk? I could just be
sick for all you know.”
Barnard then started arguing with the officer about whether or not
he was drunk. His argument didn’t hold up, and he was booked into
jail.
Barnard is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on March 30, 2015.
