A Lawton woman was taken into
custody after she tried to steal two
televisions from the Altus WalMart.
Deajunea Anderson, 23, was
charged Oct. 15 with grand larceny
in Jackson County District Court.
According to the court documents, Altus police were dispatched to Wal-Mart Oct. 11 for a
shoplifter in custody. The suspect,
Anderson, was being held for allegedly trying to steal two TVs from the store, valued at over
$800 total.
The loss prevention employee told officers he saw Anderson with two 42” TVs in her shopping cart and was
pushing it around the store. He added she eventually
went to the ladies’ department where she tried to cut off
the spider wire with a pair of scissors, but the scissors
broke.
Anderson then left the cart and went to the restroom
at the front of the store. She returned a short while later,
pushed the cart to the men’s department and was then
able to cut the spider wire.
Anderson then went to the self-checkout, looked
around and then pushed the TVs out of the south doors,
but she was stopped by the loss prevention employee.
Anderson was taken to the Jackson County Jail and
booked. Her bond was set at $1500 and she was ordered
back to court Nov. 4 for her preliminary hearing.

A woman in Florida got so excited after stealing
a family’s Apple technology that she decided to take
some selfi es of her own. She had stolen an iPad
and an iPod Touch out of their car while they were
visiting one of Florida’s regional parks. Apparently
not realizing that photos taken on an Apple device
will show up on the computer, her selfi es surfaced
on the family’s iCloud account two weeks later. All of
these pictures are able to be located geographically.
A middle-aged man was stopped by police as he
rode his horse down the streets of Colorado. Why?
He was seen hitting the horse, but told the police
there was a fl y on his head. Further investigation
revealed that he had a small gun, a pug (yes, you
understood correctly), and beer cans in tow. Not
surprisingly, he failed an intoxication test and was
charged with animal cruelty, possession of weapons,
and drunk riding.
Have you ever accidentally gotten high? Like,
you thought it was a normal brownie, or normal
mushrooms. But nope, turns out you’re absolutely
tripping. Good luck explaining that one to the
police. The only thing less convincing than that is…
”accidentally” growing marijuana on your property.
This is exactly what happened to a 73 year old man,
who claims he found the seeds in a random box and
decided to plant them. Lo and behold, up grows
some weed. The man showed no sign of being a
pot smoker, yet paid the $200 dollar ticket without
argument anyway. Hopefully he’ll stay away from
mystery seeds from now on.
How impatient do you get when waiting for your
food to microwave? Worse yet is when you fi nally
think it’s done, but the plate is a burning fi re disc
from the sun’s core and your food could have been
found in the fur of a frozen wooly mammoth from
the arctic. How mad would you get? Hopefully not
angry enough to use the microwave as a weapon, like
a guy in St. Louis. A 43 year old man and a 36 year
old man got into a heated argument over “personal
matters”, resulting in a knife being pulled and a
microwave oven being thrown. Both were admitted
to the hospital with serious forehead wounds. I
don’t remember these being part of the Easy Mac
directions???
We’ve all seen those movies about crazy people
who believe demons live in their house, right?
Terrifying stuff , but the demons are probably more
scared of you than you are of them. Just…grab a
big shoe. And kill all the fl ies so they have nothing
to eat. Oh. Maybe I’m thinking of something else,
something scarier. One guy in Arizona was so
freaked out he almost burnt down the house. With
his roommates still home, he started a fi re in his
bedroom closet where he believed they were hiding.
He used paint thinner, and is reported to have been
reciting Bible verses. He said he had planned to tell
the police but forgot, and he was admitted to the
hospital with burns on his feet. The important thing
is, the house is now 100% demon free.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
This month’s Tips is less of a tip
than it is a serious request for help
from you, the motoring public. I would like to make a personal
appeal to each and every reader who sees this to help us Troopers
try to eliminate one of the toughest jobs that we ever have to do. It
is something that everyone who drives can have an impact on.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is tasked with the investigation
of motor vehicle accidents on the public roadways outside the city
limits in the State of Oklahoma. In the course of this, we investigate
a huge number of fatalities. For each fatality victim, it is the duty
of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to personally notify the next of
kin. For each life lost, there is a knock on a door somewhere, where
an OHP Trooper has to deliver news that will forever change the
lives of the person or persons on the other side. Sadly, these knocks
on the door could have been prevented by somebody involved in
the accident. Sometimes it’s the person who died whose unsafe or
unlawful action caused the accident that took their life. Often times
it is not.
Each and every Trooper you see working the roads every day has
had to knock on that door. I think if you asked, every single one
would tell you this is the worst aspect of our job. Trying to prevent
this is one of the reasons we do what we do. We know if we work
hard, we can stop some of these knocks. We also know the motoring
public can help us stop some of these knocks as well. The following
are just a few ways for you to do your part to help.
First and foremost, obey the law. It really doesn’t matter if
your personal opinion of the rules of the road don’t make sense,
or shouldn’t apply in certain situations. Each one of them is
designed for us to travel safely on the road. Slow down, and give
your full, undivided attention to the road. Watch out for the other
driver. When you see something happening ahead of you, slow
down! “I was late”, or “I was texting” just doesn’t cut it as responses
to a grieving family when they ask why this happened. Is it
something you could live with if it was your reason for taking a life?
The people on the other side of that knock aren’t the only ones
affected by the experience. We Troopers have all held strangers as
the initial horror and shock of the news takes hold of them. We
have all prayed with families we just met, and asked if we could have
done more to prevent it. Each and every day we are trying to stop
The Knock. Now I’m asking you to help us. Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

Like true historic
adventure accounts?
The Bible has them.
Korah learned that
God’s power is greater
than his.
Korah complained
against Moses, but
God chose Moses to
lead Israel. Moses
tells him, “Therefore
you and all your
company are gathered
together against the
Lord” (read Numbers
16:16 in your Bible).
God takes it personally when we don’t honor His servants.
Moses was chosen to lead Israel, but the people grumbled.
They didn’t get what they wanted. We are no different than
Korah and his friends.
We don’t take responsibility to change ourselves, we keep
doing the same things, and when we’re caught or suffer, we
complain and blame others.
What happened to Korah? Read it for yourself in your
own Bible, Numbers 16:28-38. Imagine the horror of this
tragic event! Can history repeat itself? Yes!
Bible Says:
History Repeats Itself

More than 100,000 children and youth in the
U.S. foster care system are awaiting permanent
families. National Adoption Month is a time to
raise awareness about the adoption of children
and youth from foster care.
The Children’s Bureau in partnership with
AdoptUSKids and Child Welfare Information
Gateway sponsors the initiative each November
as a way to focus public attention on the urgent
need for adoptive families for children and
youth waiting in foster care for a permanent
family. This year’s focus, “Partnering for Permanency,” builds on the social media theme
from last year. A special web page on Information Gateway’s website helps child welfare
professionals, prospective adoptive parents, and youth partner for permanency. The website
contains resources, stories, and videos on topics such as getting started with social media,
how to build a recruitment campaign, and how social media impacts child welfare and
adoption. The website can be found at http://www.childwelfare.gov/adoption/nam.

A Blanchard man was arrested for a
DUI after he refused to pull his vehicle
over, stating that he didn’t see the officer’s flashing red and blue lights.
On Oct. 12, a Tipton police officer
was on patrol when he saw a vehicle
make a wide right turn at a high rate of
speed, according to the affidavit.
The officer turned his car around and
attempted to make contact with the vehicle, but the driver didn’t show signs
of pulling over for the law anytime
soon.
When the officer activated his emergency lights, the driver
abruptly turned onto another street, causing his tires to spin
and almost losing control of his vehicle.
The driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and led the officer on a chase through the streets of Tipton, making multiple
turns before coming to a stop.
The driver finally came to a stop at a residence, where he exited the vehicle and attempted to enter the home.
The officer stopped him and asked why he refused to pull
over.
The driver, identified as Beau Francis Boyle, 29, said he
didn’t see any lights.
The officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Boyle and
noticed that he was having trouble maintaining his balance.
After a standard field sobriety test and breathalyzer test revealed that Boyle was most definitely intoxicated, the officer
placed him under arrest and transported him to jail.
Boyle pled guilty to DUI alcohol/ drugs and was fined $500
for his misdemeanor charge.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A Hobart man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted the woman
he was known to date.
On Oct. 13, a Hobart police officer was dispatched to a Hobart residence regarding a possible domestic disturbance. When he arrived,
he met with the victim, who appeared to have been crying, according
to the affidavit.
She was holding a paper towel which looked as though it had blood
on it. She also had blood on her neck, clothes and a cut on her lower
lip.
The officer asked what happened, and she told him that Brandon
Daniel Smith, 32, a man she dated, had come over with two other
females that morning. She said that Smith burst through her door
uninvited and began yelling at her.
She said she pushed Smith to get him out of her home, and he grabbed her the throat and
pushed her up against the wall. She said she scratched him to make him let her go, and when
he did, he hit her in the face, causing the cut on her lip.
Later that evening, the officer received a call that Kiowa County deputies had come in contact with Smith, and they were bringing him to the police department.
The officer met with Smith and asked him if he wanted to give his side of the story. Smith
said yes and told the officer that the victim had been texting one of the women that had gone
to the victim’s house with him. He said they later went to the victim’s house, and the victim
started to attack Smith by scratching and pushing him.
Smith is being charged with domestic abuse assault and battery. His bond was set at
$6,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 31, 2013.

An Apache man was arrested after he led
police on a Jager-fueled chase that resulted in smoke coming from his vehicle.
On Oct. 19, Apache police received a call
from a concerned woman who said her son,
Giovanni Marcel Arellano, 20, was intoxicated and headed toward town in a white
SUV, according to the affidavit.
An officer located the suspect’s vehicle
and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but
Arellano ignored the officer’s lights, increasing his speeds up to 80 mph, running multiple stop signs and
passing other motorists in no-passing zones.
Arellano’s speed finally decreased, and the officer noticed smoke
coming from the fleeing man’s vehicle.
Arellano eventually brought the vehicle to a stop in a field near a
residence and exited his SUV.
The officer withdrew his weapon and ordered him to the ground.
He placed Arellano in hand restraints and smelled the odor of alcohol coming from Arellano’s breath and person.
After the officer read him his Miranda warning and made sure
he understood his rights, Arellano agreed to speak to the officer.
The officer asked how much he had had to drink and Arellano told
him, “I bought one pint of Jager from a liquor store in Lawton and
drank it.”
Standard field sobriety tests revealed that Arellano was indeed
intoxicated. He was transported and booked into Caddo County
Jail.
Arellano is being charged with DUI, driving with license cancelled/suspended/revoked and eluding/attempting to elude police officer. His bond was set at $7,000, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on Nov. 7, 2013.

Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a substitute
teacher after students reported she was intoxicated and passed
out in a classroom office at Millwood High School.
April Chamberlain, 30, was supposed to be acting as a
substitute in a biology class. Students said she appeared
disoriented and used profanity. When students found
Chamberlain asleep in the office, they contacted a coach, who
informed the principal.
The principal said after she repeatedly shouted and tapped
Chamberlain on the shoulder, the substitute woke up. The principal said
Chamberlain had blood-shot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol.
When a deputy arrived, she saw an open bottle of Canadian Whisky in
Chamberlain’s purse. The deputy also noted Chamberlain kept slurring and was
unsteady on her feet.
Chamberlain was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail for public
drunkenness.

An indecisive Walters man was arrested after he was caught leaving the scene
of a fight under the influence of alcohol.
According to the affidavit, a Walters
police officer was dispatched to a residence on Oct. 21, in reference to a fight.
When he arrived, he saw a black SUV
leaving the residence.
The officer conducted a traffic stop
and made contact with the driver, later
identified as Jason Wayne Coombs, 36.
The officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the
vehicle and noticed that Coombs had red watery eyes. He asked
Coombs about the fight that had allegedly occurred at the residence.
Coombs told him that two women had been fighting. The officer asked Coombs how much he had had to drink, and Coombs
told him nothing. He begged the officer not to make him take a
test, because he didn’t want to lose his CDL.
The officer told him if he didn’t have anything to drink, he
shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
Coombs then admitted that he had been drinking. The officer
asked him to take the test, but Coombs said no, he wouldn’t
pass it.
The officer started to put the test up, but Coombs told him he
would take it.
The officer took the test back out, but Coombs once again said
he wouldn’t pass it.
The officer went to put the test up again, but Coombs stopped
him and said he would take it.
The officer started to get it ready, but Coombs started begging
the officer not to give him a DUI.
The officer put the tester up.
Coombs did not do well on any of the standard field sobriety
tests, and the officer placed him under arrest.
Once at the jail, Coombs became irate and started yelling derogatory statements about the officer that arrested him. Coombs
continued his rant and told the officer the he “didn’t know who
the f--- he [Coombs] was.” Coombs eventually settled down and

A night he soon won’t forget
Rogelio Andaverde, a 34-year-old Texas man, was jailed Oct 10
after he allegedly faked his own kidnapping in an effort to dump
his wife for a night of partying.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Andaverde
and his wife were home at around 10:30 p.m. that night when two
masked men broke into their home and kidnapped Andaverde at
gunpoint.
Investigators say the Sheriff’s Office launched a manhunt, but
called it off a few hours later when no leads developed on the case.
Andaverde arrived back home that morning, explaining to his
wife that his captors “just let him go.”
When officers arrived on the scene to interview Andaverde,
something about his explanation didn’t sound right to them.
Andaverde was taken into custody and interviewed again at the Sheriff’s Office.
He reportedly admitted to investigators that he fabricated the kidnapping because he
wanted to go out drinking with his friends.
“I don’t think his wife appreciated being kept until 4 or 5 in the morning, being interviewed
by the cops while her husband was out doing who knows what with who knows who,” said
Hidalgo County Sheriff, Guadalupe Trevino. “He’s going to have a lot of answering to do.”
Andaverde was booked into jail and charged with making a false report to police. He was
released after posting $5,000 bail.

A Mangum woman was taken to jail
after police found drugs and paraphernalia in her car.
An Altus police officer was dispatched
to the parking lot of a vacant gas station on Oct. 20, on reports of a suspicious vehicle, according to the affidavit.
When the officer arrived, he noticed
that the white car was the only vehicle
in the parking lot. He approached the
car and made contact with the driver,
Della Marie Logsdon, 47, and her two
passengers.
While checking for warrants, another officer arrived and
walked his K9 around the vehicle. The K9 alerted on the vehicle, and the officer located a set of digital scales under Logsdon’s purse. The scales had four plastic baggies and two of
them contained a white crystal-like substance, which the officer believed to be methamphetamine, due to his training and
experience.
He asked Logsdon if the scales belonged to her and she said
yes. He asked if the baggies containing residue belonged to her
and she said they did not.
The officer asked Logsdon what the scales were for, and she
told him that she often used them for weighing marijuana and
meth.
The officer placed Logsdon under arrest and put her in his
patrol car. He located a baggie with possible residue in her
purse. She was transported to jail.
Logsdon is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $35,000 and she is scheduled to
appear in court on Nov. 6, 2013.
She obviously didn’t
weigh the consequences

Oklahoma couple Elizabeth Pester, 33, and Mark Knapp,
48, have been jailed after they nearly starved their 3-year-old
daughter to death while they allegedly immersed themselves in
an online video game.
Second Life, an online 3d world where players can create an
entirely new virtual identity and then interact with other players
using that identity, became more than a game to Elizabeth
Pester and Mark Knapp.
It almost became a death sentence for the couple’s 3-year-old
daughter, who withered away while her parents spent the bulk
of their time on a computer, pretending to be a married couple in their new virtual world.
According to police, the problem began almost immediately after the child’s birth.
Investigators say DHS agents took the couple’s newborn into protective custody just a couple of
weeks after her birth. Case workers noted that Pester and Knapp had refused to spend much time with
the newborn, and the child was having feeding issues as a result.
In 2011, the child was returned to her parents in healthy condition, however it didn’t take long before
the feeding issue returned, and in a far more severe way.
In June, 2012, the little girl was taken to a local hospital where she weighed just 13 pounds and
appeared seriously malnourished. DHS responded by referring the child’s parents to a therapist who
would weigh the child on a weekly basis. That therapist saw the child just four times and weighed the
child twice over a five month period, according to court documents.
Pester and Knapp have been booked into the Tulsa County jail and charged with child abuse and
neglect. Bond has been set at $50,000 each.
