DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY
A Lawton man found himself in
a heap of trouble after police caught
him driving a stolen vehicle that he
claimed was legally purchased.
James Bainbridge, 47, faces a felony
charge of possession of a stolen vehicle in Stephens County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, a
Duncan police officer was on patrol
on Oct. 14 around 1 am when he came
upon a Dodge pickup. He checked the
registration and immediately discovered that it was stolen. He activated
his emergency lights and pulled the
truck over.
After stopping, the driver, later identified as Bainbridge, opened
the door of the truck and began getting out. The officer told him
to stay in the vehicle and Bainbridge held up his hands and yelled,
“Whoa, whoa, whoa… I’m not doing anything!”
Bainbridge told the officer he had a suspended driver’s license and
he was detained as backup arrived.
After the truck and Bainbridge were cleared of any illegal items,
Bainbridge gave the officers a bill of sale that was not dated to the
officers. It had been sold to a woman from an auto salvage company
in Lawton.
Lawton Police Department confirmed to the officer that the pickup
was still entered as stolen. Bainbridge was then taken to the Stephens County Jail and booked.
Bainbridge will have the opportunity to explain what happened to
a judge at his preliminary hearing on Dec. 3, and his bond was set at
$25,000. It was later reduced to $5000 and he was released.

A defective reverse light meant a trip to jail for a Frederick
woman on the evening of October 26.
Along with the messed up taillight, 24-year-old Anahali Cantu
had a revoked driver’s license and illegal items inside her vehicle.
At approximately 8:27 p.m., a Frederick police officer was on
patrol in the 500 block of S. Main Street when he saw a black
car leaving a convenience store, according to the affidavit. The
vehicle’s left rear reverse light wasn’t working. The officer pulled
over the vehicle in the 100 block of E. Grand and made contact
with the driver, identified as Cantu.
He asked her for her driver’s license and proof of insurance.
She couldn’t find her license. Dispatch advised the officer that
the reason she couldn’t find it was because it was revoked.
The officer told Cantu she was under arrest. The officer placed Cantu in the patrol vehicle
and conducted an inventory of her car. He found a cylinder-shaped object in the front passenger door. When he opened it, it appeared to be a grinder commonly used to grind up
marijuana or residue. This grinder contained marijuana residue.
In the center console, the officer found brown cigar wrapper containing marijuana.
The car was impounded, and Cantu was transported to the Tillman County Jail.
Cantu is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving with
license revoked and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $5,000,
and she is scheduled to appear in court on January 6, 2015.

A Hobart man with too much alcohol in his system and no driver’s
license was taken to jail October 12 after he failed to keep his truck on
the road.
A Kiowa County deputy was on patrol when he saw a truck traveling north on State Highway 44 around 12:09 a.m., according to the
affidavit.
The truck was traveling 54 mph in a 65 mph zone, and it kept drifting
across the road. The truck crossed both the center lane and the fog line
twice, before running off the road into the grass. The driver stopped his
vehicle at Highway 44 and 1330.
The deputy activated his lights and made contact with the driver,
60-year-old Mark Edward Shaw. He noticed Shaw had red, glossy eyes and smelled like alcohol. The deputy asked Shaw if he had been drinking. Shaw replied, “Yes, but at 7 o’clock.”
When the deputy asked Shaw for his license, Shaw said it was expired out of Texas and he
didn’t have one on him.
The deputy checked with dispatch, and sure enough, Shaw’s license was expired in Texas
and suspended in Oklahoma.
Another deputy arrived to assist, and he administered standard field sobriety tests to Shaw.
Shaw “failed very quickly.”
The deputy placed the man under arrest and transported him to jail.
Shaw is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with license
suspended. He was released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 3, 2014.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Carnegie man Jared Robert Baker, 22, was locked up after he
drunkenly terrorized women in a local apartment complex on October 5.
According to the affidavit, Carnegie City police were dispatched to
some apartments in the 800 block of E. Oklahoma around 5:55 p.m.
due to an unwanted person and a disturbance. A woman told them a
man, later identified as Baker, tried to enter her mom’s apartment by
pushing on the door and turning the handle. She said she asked the
man, “What do you want?” Baker said, “Can I come in?”
The woman said as she tried to close the door that Baker tried to
open it again. Baker said he was looking for someone named Bobby,
but when the woman told him to leave, he allegedly told her, “I’m
going to kick down the door and f------ stab you.”
He eventually left.
Officers searched the apartment complex and found Baker crouched down with his back
against a wall. He stepped away from the wall, put both of his hands up in the air and said,
“Ok, ok, you got me.”
An officer placed Baker in handcuffs and noticed that the man appeared to be extremely
intoxicated. He smelled like alcohol and his speech was slurred. He also admitted it. The officer asked him what was going on. Baker replied, “Nothing, I’m just drunk.”
As police escorted Baker to the patrol vehicle, they noticed he had a hard time keeping his
balance.
Right after Baker was arrested, another victim in the apartment complex contacted police
and said Baker had entered her apartment uninvited and asked if someone named Lopez was
there.
When she told him no, he started to aggressively kiss her neck. She told him to go away, and
he responded, “No, we’re going to f---.”
He wouldn’t stop kissing her and blowing in her ear. The woman said she was very scared,
and at one point, Baker took off her socks and kissed her feet. He told her, “We could have the
time of your life.” When she told him she was going to call her son, he ran out of her apartment.
Baker is being charged with burglary in the first degree, sexual battery and attempted burglary. He is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
November 20, 2014.

A Stanton, Texas, man was arrested in Cotton
County for apparently doin’ a little too much day
drinking and almost hitting some construction
workers on October 21.
A state trooper was on patrol around 10:54 a.m.
in a construction zone on I-44, when he was advised of a possible drunk driver that had hit some
cones and almost hit some construction workers.
According to the affidavit, the trooper located the
suspect vehicle and watched as the vehicle changed
lanes abruptly and almost hit a truck. He pulled behind the vehicle. The
suspect vehicle’s brake lights came on, and it traveled for an “unusually
long distance” before pulling onto the shoulder. It then pulled forward
another 30 feet before eventually coming to a stop near mile marker 11.
The trooper made contact with the driver and immediately smelled
alcohol.
The driver, Clifton Daniel Pike, 37, told the trooper in thick speech
that he didn’t have a driver’s license.
The trooper asked Pike to have a seat in the patrol vehicle. As he
walked back to the patrol car, he was unsteady on his feet. He also appeared to be confused. Pike told the trooper he had just been stopped
by police. According to the paperwork he had, Pike had been pulled over
around 8 a.m.
Pike admitted that he had been drinking that morning, but when the
trooper asked him how much he had had, Pike said he had been drinking the night before. He then said he had one drink when he woke up,
and there might be some empty open containers in his car. Pike also
admitted that he had been to prison for DUI.
Well, he was about to go back. He failed standard field sobriety test
and declined to take the state’s breath test.
Some people never learn.
During an inventory of Pike’s vehicle, police found three empty beer
cans.
Pike is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving with license suspended. He was released
on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November
10, 2014.

A man in Stockholm, Sweden was a bit miffed when the 13-year-old girl
he’d been courting didn’t show up for an arranged sex meeting. Having met
the girl on a dating website, this man deposited an advance payment in her
bank account before their “date”. When the teen stood him up, the man
found her home phone number and called her father to demand a refund.
You can imagine how that ended.
John Szwalla, a 17-year-old idiot from North Carolina, entered an internet cafe and demanded money, claiming he had a gun hidden under his
shirt. The “gun” was actually a banana. The cafe’s owner, along with a customer, restrained John and called the police. John ate the banana while he
waited for the cops to arrive. Apparently the police joked about charging
the kid with “destroying evidence”.
James Blankenship’s first mistake was to try to break into his own mother’s house. Young James had a go at climbing through the first floor window, then bolted when he was caught.
It didn’t help that he conducted the botched raid in broad daylight, but
let’s set that aside for a moment, because this story gets much dumber.
When police found James hiding in a crawl space near the scene and arrested him, the young man was stunned. James thought he couldn’t be arrested for burglary because it wasn’t night-time.

What you’re saying about this on...
Debbie R: yes I do that is 3 people lives gone lord have mercy
Joseph H: Self entitled, ego maniacal, psychopath with no hope for rehabilitation or possible function within society. The officer that picked him
up should have put a bullet in him and saved the taxpayers money.
Dion H: Hell yea he death penalty. He killed 3 people. Would you want
him on the streets with you.
Nikki B: Even if he was mad at his dad, why kill the entire family?? He
robbed an innocent 17 year old child of her life!! Yes he deserves the death
penalty!! An eye for an eye! Just my opinion, of course.
Holly P: Yes!!! He was greedy about money so I’m going to be greedy
with my tax dollars. Death penalty all the way.
Tonya F: It’s really sad to think that a 19 yr old has no ‘redeemable’
qualities but I’d have to say, he needs to pay the ultimate price for what he
did.....this wasn’t done in a fit of rage - he thought this out, planned it out
and then went and partied afterwards....that is just pure cold hearted evil
right there !!
Corey W: Life in prison..we cannot kill acording to the bible..but thats
just my belief..not trying to push that on anybody else..but life in prison
would be worse than being put to sleep? Am i right?
Tanna R: f you believe in the bible, it includes eternity in Hell. I think
Hell is a worse place than a building with a/c, 3 meals a day, tv, and xbox
paid with taxpayers money.
Stephanie B: Yes he deserves the death penalty but he will sit on death
row and milk tax payers for all their money.....he should die in the manner
he killed his family
Heather P: I think if his remaining family members are alright with him
getting the death penalty then go ahead with it.
Amanda J: Yes, any son who is willing to kill his parents and sister for
money should definitely be put to death.
Laura J: Definitely deserves the death penalty. He killed three people
plus other crimes. No regard for human lives or respect for family members.
An eye for an eye. Don’t believe this guy could ever be helped by anything.
Vanessa H: Anyone that is going to murder his mom, dad, and sister
them goes to a football game n has fun, yes he need the death penalty! Ppl
get mad but don’t kill your whole family. He confesses like ya I did it so
what.
Dalton J: Killing people doesn’t prove that killing people is wrong. Get
all the non-violent drug offenders out of jail and into rehab and we will
have more resources and more personnel to deal with monsters like this
and make sure they are punished for a very long. The death penalty is an
easy out for these people.
Sarah B: I personally live in duncan & i think it’s an excellent resort for
his behavior.. How could you kill your own FAMILY and have no remorse
for it!
If you know the FULL story he went to the ou texas after commiting these
murders. He posted pictures on instagram at the game smiling and having
a good time like nothing ever happened right after killing his family! I’m
sorry but why give compassion to someone who has none themselves.
Brenda W: I am usually the first one to say let them die in the same
manner they did to their victims, for some reason when I look at the pic of
this young troubled person I don’t get that feeling, just don’t know why.
Ana J: I don’t agree with the death penalty,no life is ours to take....life in
prison,no chance of parole.and let me add what a horrible human this boy
is.
Brett T: This is not only his fault but also his parents fault. They raised
a spoiled ass brat for a kid, probably very little discipline, and when they
finally cut him off this happened. Sorry for the family and the ones who
were murdered in cold blood. Yes he deserves the death penalty, I honestly
believe its his way or no way so he will kill again.
Elana F: How can you blame his parents for him being a murderer? At 19
y/o he knows right from wrong and made his own choices smh
Kristina R: Putting the blame on the parents is such a moronic thing
to do. He and his sister were raised the same, she wasn’t a criminal. She
was actually a well-liked, good kid, all around happy soul. People can be
raised by picture perfect parents and turn out to be worthless beings, and
worthless druggie parents can raise a kid horribly and the kid turn out to
be a wonderful success. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it
drink. I guess you’d have to know them to make an accurate comment.
Andy R: Depends on his mood at the time. Crime of passion, possible
abuse, mental instability, or even insanity? Let think about it before we immediately start saying, “oh yes, yes, yes. Lets kill him.”
Here’s a question for you...
Alan Hruby, the son of a newspaper publisher, has allegedly confessed to killing his father,
mother and sister. John Hruby, his wife Tinker
and their 17-year-old daughter Katherine were
all found dead inside their Duncan home by a
housekeeper on Oct. 13.
Last year, John Hruby turned his son in for using his grandmother’s credit card and charging
nearly $5,000 during a trip to Europe.
Alan Hruby is on probation and a freshman at
OU, but he’s now in Stephens County jail.
If Alan Hruby is found guilty of this crime, do you think the death
penalty is the appropriate punishment?

A not-so-smooth criminal thought
he could get away with stealing two 18
packs of beer by jumping onto the bed
of a moving truck.
He was wrong.
An Altus police officer was on patrol
at approximately 1:59 a.m. October 19
when he saw a man run out of a business in the 700 block of East Broadway
Street carrying two 18 packs of beer.
At least he made the 2 a.m. cut off.
The man, later identified as 20-yearold Manuel de la Cruz, Jr., ran to the
side of the building where he threw the 18 packs into the covered
bed of a moving truck. He then jumped onto the bed of the truck, but
quickly jumped off and took off running when he saw the officer’s
flashing red and blue.
According to the police report, de la Cruz ran down an alley, and
the officer briefly lost sight of him.
About that time, dispatch advised that the store clerk had just reported the beer theft.
De la Cruz wasn’t gone long. He jumped into the bed of a truck
parked at the front of the store and tried to hide. Too bad for him the
officer saw him.
The officer placed him under arrest and transported him to jail.
Before reaching the jail, de la Cruz told the officer he had some cocaine on his person.
Sure enough, the jailer found a plastic baggy containing a white
powdery substance in de la Cruz’s pocket. It field-tested positive for
cocaine.
Cruz is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance and larceny of merchandise from a retailer. His bond was
set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on November
17, 2014.
Makin’ a beer run
Doesn’t the Bible Say
“An Eye for an Eye, and a
Tooth for a Tooth”?
Jesus said, “You have
heard the law that says
the punishment must
match the injury: ‘An eye
for an eye, and a tooth for
a tooth.’ But I say, do not
resist an evil person! If
someone slaps you on the
right cheek, offer the other
cheek also. If you are sued
in court and your shirt is
taken from you, give your
coat, too.” (Matthew 5:38-
40)
God’s purpose behind this law was an expression of
mercy. The law was given to judges and said, in effect,
“Make the punishment fit the crime.” It was not a
guide for personal revenge. These laws were given
to limit vengeance and help the court administer
punishment that was neither to strict nor too lenient.
Some people, however, were using this phrase to
justify their vendettas against others. People still try
to excuse their acts of revenge by saying, “I was just
doing to him what he did to me.”

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Fall is upon us, and with fall,
comes the annual increase in deer
activity and movement.
While it is true that car-deer accidents happen year round, there
is no doubt that those numbers increase dramatically in the fall
and winter months. Deer go through their mating season, called
the rut, during those months, and as winter settles over the state,
food sources become more scarce. Both of those things have deer
moving more, and when deer move, they cross roadways, making
the odds of a driver encountering them much higher.
If you’ve driven in Oklahoma for any period of time, you’ve
seen deer. You’ve seen them beside the road, running across it,
and laying dead on or near it. Car-deer accidents can be deadly
not just to the deer, but to the human occupants of the vehicles
that strike them. Since State Troopers investigate those accidents,
it makes sense that we would want to put out some tips to try and
prevent those type of accidents.
First, be conscious of the time of day you are driving. Deer
tend to move more at dawn, dusk, and nighttime hours. Since a lot
of the motoring public are going to and from work around dawn
and dusk, this is when we see most of the car-deer accidents. When
traveling at these times, make sure that you are paying attention
to not just the roadway in front of you, but the side of the road,
especially the areas between the road and the fences. If you see one
of those deer crossing signs, take heed. Those signs are put up in
areas that historically are high car-deer accident corridors.
If you are traveling in a rather open area, and there is a neck
of trees that comes up to the road, or any other type of cover, be
alert! Deer like to use cover to travel, and will use these areas to
approach roadway crossings. Be aware of your surroundings! Pay
attention to the vehicle in front of you. They may need to slow
quickly for deer, and you don’t want to rear-end them! If you do
see a deer crossing the road, or even just standing off to the side
of the roadway....reduce your speed immediately! They can be
unpredictable when spooked, and may just run right in front of
you instead of away. Use this rule of thumb: Where there is one
deer that you see, there is almost always another you don’t! Be
conscious of the ones that you may not see; just because you don’t
see them, doesn’t mean they aren’t there!
Following these steps, and being a safe and courteous driver,
even to our animal friends, will greatly reduce the chances that
you will have an unfortunate and possibly harmful encounter
with them. Lets leave the harvesting of deer to the sportsmen and
women out there! As always, thanks for reading, buckle up, and
please drive safe.
